Of course. All the players I don't want they draft. WRs who drop the ball are not first round talent. SIGH ....

It would not be a Cleveland Browns WR draft selection if the player didn't have drop issues!
Dane Bugler's write-up....
BACKGROUND Kevin “KC” Concepcion Jr. (con-sepp-see-OWN), who has four younger brothers, was born in Rochester, N.Y., before his family relocated to Charlotte, N.C., when he was 6. He was raised by his mother (Arriel), who works in healthcare, and father (Kevin Sr.), who now works in the NIL/marketing space. KC’s great-grandmother (Loyda Gonzalez), who raised Kevin Sr., is a native of Barcelonita, Puerto Rico, and later moved to New York.
His father is a former athlete who was recruited for baseball, basketball and football out of high school and had a standout redshirt freshman season as a defensive back and return man at Buffalo in 2002. However, he had several run-ins with the law, which disrupted his playing career. He later played semipro indoor football for the Rochester Raiders in 2010 (65 catches for 921 yards and 30 touchdowns) and the Erie Explosion in 2011 (1,502 receiving yards, 46 touchdowns).
KC Concepcion started playing flag football at age 4 and tackle football at age 5. He played numerous positions in youth football, including quarterback through middle school. He also started playing basketball in seventh grade and was a standout point guard. One of his younger brothers (Arrion) played his freshman season as a wide receiver at James Madison in 2025. Another of his brothers (Lloyd) is a standout middle school athlete. He also has a half-brother (Keyon), who played his redshirt freshman season as a wide receiver at Division II Concord (W.Va.) in 2025.
Concepcion grew up with a stutter. He has been open about his experience, including being the target of bullying, and spoke about it at the NFL combine.
He attended Zebulon B. Vance High School in Charlotte, which was later renamed Julius L. Chambers High School in 2021. He was a four-year letterman on varsity and teammates with James Pearce Jr. (2025 first-rounder of the Atlanta Falcons) and Hollywood Smothers (NC State 2026 NFL prospect). Concepcion made an immediate impact as a freshman wide receiver for a team that finished 13-2 and won the 2019 Class 4AA state championship (first state title in school history). Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, his sophomore season was moved to the spring of 2021 — he helped lead the team to a 10-1 finish and another state championship (had a 14-yard touchdown catch in the title game). As a junior in the fall of 2021, Concepcion caught 36 passes for 458 yards and eight touchdowns, while adding three punt return touchdowns, as Chambers won 11 games. As a senior, he led Chambers to its fourth straight regional title and earned honorable mention all-state honors. He finished his final season with 32 catches for 527 yards and five touchdowns, along with one rushing touchdown and one kick return touchdown. He also played basketball at Chambers before deciding to focus on football.
A three-star recruit, Concepcion was the 82nd-ranked wide receiver in the 2023 class and the No. 21 recruit in North Carolina. He started to move up the recruiting rankings after his sophomore season and picked up offers from Boston College, Charlotte, Marshall, Maryland and NC State. As a junior, Concepcion received his first SEC offer (Vanderbilt), along with offers from Florida State, Duke, Michigan State, North Carolina, Penn State and West Virginia. Ultimately, his decision came down to NC State and North Carolina. He committed to the Wolfpack in August 2022, because they “showed the most love” and gave him a chance to see early playing time. After two standout seasons, Concepcion entered the transfer portal in December 2024 and took visits to Alabama, Colorado, Miami and Texas A&M. His connection with head coach Mike Elko and quarterback Marcel Reed led him to the Aggies.
While at NC State, Concepcion established the KC Concepcion Foundation and is involved in the community, including back-to-school drives. He elected to skip his senior season and enter the NFL Draft.
STRENGTHS ● Fluid, gliding athlete with adequate size ● Sudden in his releases to swipe away jams and quickly stack corners ● Efficient speed cuts to build/maintain momentum through route breaks (heavy dose of in/out routes on his tape) ● Uses crafty body lean in route construction to force defenders off-balance ● Bends back to the football and has a feel for exposing space (78.7 percent of his 2025 catches went for a first down or touchdown, third-best rate in FBS) ● Used on screens and gadgets to weaponize his catch-and-run acceleration (7.2 YAC per reception in 2025) ● Able to make impressive adjustments on the ball mid-air and in traffic ● Really like his compete skills (at the catch, after the catch and as a blocker) ● Averaged 16.2 yards per punt return in college, with two return touchdowns in 2025 (79 and 80 yards) ● Head coach Mike Elko says he has “tremendous” work ethic — he quickly ingrained himself in the A&M culture ● Recorded at least three catches in all 13 games in 2025; tied for the SEC lead with nine touchdown grabs
WEAKNESSES ● Too many drops and double catches on his tape (both at NC State and Texas A&M) ● Late to frame the football, leading to claps and body traps ● Unnecessarily jumps at catch point, disrupting his focus ● Will freelance his routes at times, upsetting timing with his quarterback ● Falls below size requirements at outside receiver for several NFL teams ● Muffed punt on 2025 Miami tape ● Right knee scope (March 2026), performed by Cowboys team physician, Dr. Daniel Cooper
SUMMARY A one-year starter at Texas A&M (and three-year starter overall), Concepcion lined up both outside (65.5 percent of snaps) and inside (34.3 percent) in former offensive coordinator Collin Klein’s RPO-based scheme. A prized target in the transfer portal after two seasons at NC State, he was the Aggies’ leading receiver in 2025 and led the SEC in receiving touchdowns (nine) and punt return yards (456). He won the 2025 Paul Hornung Award as the most versatile player in college football, and he became the first player in school history to record a receiving touchdown, rushing touchdown and punt return touchdown in the same season

He gets great separation and is dynamic with the ball in his hands But that's the key, ball in his hands If he can fix the drops...if Great kick returner from what i hear

I don’t know him well but dropsy reputation is scary. Of course Berry wasn’t here to remember our history of droppers. Doesn’t matter if you run good routes or get separation if you then drop the ball. Is that Improvable? He also looks slight to my eye. Welp, good luck kid. I’m pulling for ya.

Someone do a safety check on IrishDawg. And that was after the Fano pick. I agree with all of you. Concepcion has a CAREER drop rate just over 10%, 100 balls... at least 10 drops. Let's not go down this rabbit hole. "He COULD work his way out of this issue".. Let someone else help him work out of that issue.
Drops aren't just 10 balls not caught. In many cases it leads to INTs. Tip drill was one of my favorites in high school. ![[Linked Image from media.tenor.com]](https://media.tenor.com/BnDrE2VTVykAAAAM/the-office-michael-scott.gif)

He'll be fine.
Some "experts" were debating that he is the best WR in the draft, or at worse top 3.

I wanted Tate or Cooper, receivers who hold onto the football. Tate was gone before the Browns could draft; Cooper has sure hands and great concentration. I am tired of receivers who drop the ball.

Both picks come with some concern - both come with huge upsides if those concerns end up being overblown. Concepcion might carry the slightly bigger risk if he can't play outside and the Browns try to keep him there. His trajectory in the NFL will forever be measured against Omar Cooper.
I actually like the idea of swinging for the fences with this pick.

Catching the ball is a fundamental you learn when you are 10 years old out in the backyard. It's as basic as it gets. I am sure that between HS coaching, college coaching, and any receiver camps the guy has attended those coaches have tried to work with him. At this point in life you don't teach a guy to catch. There is no magic pill at this point. It is what it is. He does bring some juice to the slot position so he should be exciting to watch even with the frustrations.

Most wide receivers that have higher drop rates have them due to problems with staying focused. Perhaps adhd. I don't know but no one comes to the Browns and gets better with drops.

Turn on the tape I see a guy who separates.
He does it easily. He breaks away from guys in small space.
Really explosive. Reminds me of Zay Flowers but bigger.
I hate drops. Drives me insane.
I have looked into can players improve if they dropped balls in college.
Yes they can.
Will he? I don't know.
But guys who can separate like him are not common.
He will add an element we do not have. He is really hard to cover and can run after the catch.
He will also help big time on returns.

This is it for me. Hence the 'swing for the fences' comment. Your comment about Zay Flowers made me wonder if this pick was influenced by Monken?

Its about time Berry drafted a WR that is a actual WR thay can seperate. Not a track phenomenon, or possession WR. He can run the whole route tree. Maybe for once the Browns offense can actually go vertical

I'm not to enamored with the Concepcion pick because of the drops issue but this kid could be a grand slam for us. He's explosive and dynamic something we need and haven't seen in a long time here. I'll take a wait and see approach, but we may really have a very good player and as always, I'll be rooting hard for him and any player we have and acquire.

We are looking at college players who are now professionals.
Monken made an interesting comment in an interview that stuck with me.
"We are in the developmental business. There are no grades. We have to develop them."
You are not a finished product when you enter the NFL.
The trick is forecasting these guys two years down the road.
Fano is the most athletic tackle in the class. Berry sees him as the LT. The only reason he played RT was because Lomu could not adjust to RT not because Fano could not play LT. He was their LT. He made the move to RT because he is a good athlete and better than Lomu. He was the guy Berry and team wanted.
Concepcion is a rare after the catch guy. He is a hellava returner.
I watched him closely catch the ball. It is not his overall hands that caused the drops. He is a hands snatcher. It is concentration drops.
That can be worked on and improved.
What you can't improve is your ability to separate. Your quickness in space. He has that in spades.with the first round.
I am happy with the first round. We have ammo with the two Xtra picks to move around and target guys.
Andrew had a good first round IMO. He addressed what he could.
Will the players drafted prove themselves? That is still to be determined.

One thing I do like more and more each day is.. Monken. However, I don't know if Monken has ever developed a great WR. Flowers is a 1000 yard receiver that doesn't catch TDs. Is that who Concepcion is going to be?
Yards are great, but points win games.
I hope Christian and Callie can get everything out of Concepcion. Fannin came into the league like a wrecking ball, maybe they can do the same for KC.

I think you might be on to something with Flowers and the yards vs TD thing - and I don't hate that. Fannin and Judkins will score plenty of TDs - a 2nd receiving TE option or a WR like Boston would also be a threat. I think Jaylen Waddle is a hell of a WR and worth a 1st round pick - he has never been a big TD machine but he is plenty good. Someone the other team has to account for - both deep and medium routes.

I like that - who is the guy on the right who does most of the talking? We know Andrew Siciliano is a Browns fan -- is this guy also or is he someone knowledgeable and neutral?

Catching the ball is the first, most critical and fundamental part of being a WR. #1 on the list.
I thought that more WR's would be drafted before the #24 pick and that they might draft Concepcion out of need due to better WR's being of the board.
I find it hard to fathom how they picked Concepcion with Cooper still sitting there on the board. I think even Boston would have been a better pick.
Here's to hoping they were right and I was wrong.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

KC Concepcion was not my pick of receiver at #24 but I understand why they picked him. He was clearly the most explosive option. He is just as explosive as Lemon and Tyson. The Browns lack explosive players. This offense needs explosive plays. He fits that bill and can be used a variety of ways just need to get the ball in his hands.

Would not have been my pick either, but like you said, we need explosiveness.
MANY of us complained that we had a WR room that as a whole couldn't get separation or get open to save their lives, and that has very very true for quite a while. This should start to change that.
Browns is the Browns

I'll say this much, because it may very well apply. I've been down on Sanders since we drafted him, and I'm nowhere near convinced, but this dude has had his nose to the grindstone since day one... and lived at Berea since the season ended.
If somehow-someway, he turns the corner, he and KC are a match made in heaven. Sanders throws one of the most catchable balls in the league. His trajectory and the loft he puts on deep balls could make Concepcion look like Tyreek Hill.
Call me crazy.

Call me crazy. Please be right!!!! The quickest way for the Browns to turn this around is to somehow hit on Sanders. I agree with what you said. What I have heard is he took 1 week off after the season and has lived in Berea working out, watching film, etc... He seems like a good kid, and I like his work ethic hopefully he surprises us all and becomes the answer at QB. KC if used right and I think Monken will use him in the Zay Flowers role can put some pressure on the defense with his explosion that the Browns have been lacking. The improved Oline should really help Judkins. Really hoping he is the Nick Chubb answer also.

I watched about 1-2 minutes of a Monken presser I assume was after both of our selections. His answers were short and to the point. I love that. I don't need a 5-paragraph answer that required a thesaurus to describe how you feel about something, especially if the question is basically a yes/no. Same as in coaching. Get to your point and get the work done.

Call me crazy. I was thinking a few weeks back about how quiet the paparazzi media has been about Sanders this offseason. I've seen quite a few videos of him (and Watson) getting the receivers together to throw. I agree about the a great match him and KCC.

. Had not heard that. Man that is encouraging even if he isn't the guy. An accurate deep ball will definitely be a help for KC.

I'm listening to Fano/Concepcion dual presser right now... It is a blessing that Concepcion can play football, because he doesn't have to speak while doing his job. Um, Hi, um, ,my name, um, is um, KC, um... Oi...it is really hard to listen to... I don't recommend it if you haven't already. I think he might have a stuttering issue and that might be his coping mechanism. He repeats words a lot in his sentences.

Could say the same for about 90% of those drafted last night in the 1st round. He also is an acknowledged stutterer.

I was about to say, it almost seems like an extreme anxiety issue maybe. I wasn't aware that he had the stuttering issue.
Like I said, it doesn't really matter. Has nothing to do with football. I just feel bad for the kid. Limit his press time if it bothers him.

That was mentioned in Milk's post earlier in this thread: https://www.dawgtalkers.net/ubbthre...4-texas-a-m-wr-kc-concepcion#Post2136779"Concepcion grew up with a stutter. He has been open about his experience, including being the target of bullying, and spoke about it at the NFL combine."

I was just about to post this since IrishDawg was not aware of Concepcion's stuttering problem and the letter he wrote.

Wow. Absolutely loved that. And it feels authentic and written by him. Kudos. I'll root for him even harder now.

Wow. Absolutely loved that. And it feels authentic and written by him. Kudos. I'll root for him even harder now. Me too. Wow!! I gotta be honest. This has been a long journey for us as fans as well. After the Baker debacle, one thing became clear in my head, I just want someone to root for. Baker was someone to root for, Watson was not. That was the biggest gut punch. I'll never belittle a championship, but we'll barely remember the "trophy", we'll remember the journey it took to get there. Every season is another chapter. This one, we've clearly just added a fan favorite and someone you'd have to be crazy not to want to root for. Fantastic read (and very well written). Everyone should take the time. I read it once and then read it again to my wife and son. I'm glad we know his story. I'm glad he's ready to show the world.

From the above Tweet...
"And yes, the second-highest drop rate (7.4%), but if that's your point of emphasis, I think you'll always miss the forest for the trees at this position. If everything else translates, you live with 7-8 drops in a season because the plays you make outweigh the plays you don't."
This is the exact point I made about Josh Allen coming out. Even if his completion percentage never improved, everyone should be willing to trade 2.3 incompletions per game for everything else he brought to the table.
In this case, it becomes a problem when the drops are chronic and at all the wrong times.

I was listening to his initial presser with Spencer and noticed the repeat words/phrases. My first thought was, is this guy nervous. Then I thought I remembered one of our "draft target" stuttered pretty severely. I think it is a sign of character that he fought through the problem and the bullying. He quickly became one of my favorite players on the team. I will be rooting hard for K C.

Just watched the film on all of KCC's drops (19 throughout his career), his separation and some of the catches that shows he can make the tough catches.
Regarding his drops, this in my opinion is really overblown. He did have a couple where there were a couple blatant drops and that happens. No excuse for those. However, a big portion of them were either hospital balls or really bad throws by the Qb's (at NC State and A&M). I am not that concerned as to what has been said. There were a lot of yards left on the field due to A&Ms QB. On a personal note, thankfully I am not an A&M fan. Their QB was really erratic last year.
There are some things that do need to be taught or cleaned up about his game. I would say this hand placement mostly on slants, arms should be extended, diamond hands with palms facing the balls. He gets into the habit of more of wanting to bend the elbows and bring the ball into a basket or cradle against his body (I hope that is a clear picture for you). Arm extension is one thing, the other is sometimes jumping for balls when it's not necessary. I would add looking the ball in before looking up field, however this is so minimal to the point that NFL receivers do this every so often.

I did think of Braylon too - who could make the tough catches and then just drop the simple ones thru lack of concentration or starting up field before he caught the ball. But they are very different receivers, and based on the challenges he has overcome and his letter to the GMs I think the work ethic and attitude will be night and day. With the addition of Boston I love this pick even more.
Fate - agree with you and the comment by whoever talked about the drop rates ... I was trying how to phrase it yesterday but the simple version is getting open and being available "virtually all the time" and the play making he will make outweighs the occasional drop. I was trying to make it mathematical but it's really pretty simple.

Over the years, watching "butterfingers", I became convinced he actually had a depth perception problem. He would often react very late and the movement of his hands was so chaotic that it seemed he didn't see the ball till it was very close.

Many times I have heard that you watch all the tape.
You can measure guys in every way possible but you can't see what is in his chest.
Seems like KC has opened his chest up. Nobody is gonna out work this young man.

I agree with you. I try to talk about the positives and the negatives. I really liked the pick after seeing more about him. If my post came off negative, it wasn't meant to be at all. I kept reading about his drops, so I had to check out all his drops. They weren't bad at all (except for a couple that were focus related). A high percentage of the 19 were very tough catches. Like a few of us, I posted about his personality and drive (like the letter and his conversation about being a spokesman for his stuttering) The past two years, Berry has really chose players that love football, high character, and drive. Mason Graham is a hard worker, Judkins hard punishing runner, Schwesinger playing his tail off/playing on basically one leg the whole game, Sanders putting in the offseason work, Fano is a football guy, KCC and his drive, and so on.

IMO KC may end up being the steal in this draft.
The reason is quite simple. His drops were not "stone hand" drops. They were concentration drops where he was looking for YAC before he caught the ball.
His tape shows him snatching the ball with his hands. He can make difficult catches. His drops are fixable.
What he has you cannot teach. This guy has crazy first step speed. He is going to be deadly in small space.
He has that Tyreek Hill quickness. He is going to get open.
Get open and catch the ball is the name of the game. He will do that.

I find the Taylon Green pick intriguing. If Todd Monken can somehow harness his talents we could really have a great player on our hands. Tremendous physical abilities and upside!

He will be used in wildcat formations and fourth downs.
Classic case of "how do you develop raw talent?"
He is a project. I have no problem taking this guy. Why not?
Jalen Milroe and Malik Willis were not much different.
If he becomes a film junkie and learns the game and how to avoid turnovers maybe you have something.

Absolutely. He may take a few years to develop but that's fine. He's young and a good kid from what I've read and heard. We can even use him as a receiver. Can you imagine a D trying to cover him. KC, Boston and Fanin? Good luck!!!

I have gone back and really looked at KC.
That is because Greg Cosell whose football expertise I admire said KC is the most dynamic receiver in the draft.
Pay close attention to his first steps. You cannot jam him on press coverage. He can get open in the first fifteen yards no problemo.
I keep hearing Zay Flowers. Zay is 5'9" 180. KC is a hair under six foot and 200lbs.
Watch his returns.
He is versatile. He can attack any part of the field. He can run like the dickens after the catch. That is why he is a returner.
IMO he will be the guy who will impact the offense more than anyone during the season. He scores touchdowns.

I do like what has happened over the last 2 years on offense.. They have added people who scored TDs in college: 2025 Quinshon Judkins 50 Tds over 3 years, consistent, 17/17/16 each year Harold Fannin Jr 22 TDs over 3 years, 11 in his final year Dillon Sampson 36 TDs over 3 years, 22 in his final year Dillon Gabriel 189 TDs over his career, 37 his final year Shedeur Sanders 72 TDs over 2 year career, 41 his final year 2026 KC Concepcion 28 TDs over 3 years, consistent, 10/8/10 each year Denzel Boston 21 TDs over his career, 20 of them the past two Taylen Green 94 Tds over his career, 27 his final season Now, as they develop into pros, some of these should start finding their way into Sunday score boards.

To put that into perspective, Removing Gabriel and Green, you could technically have the others on the field at the same time.
The Browns scored 29 TDs in 2024 The Browns scored 30 TDs in 2025
Taking, just the final year of their college careers before becoming a Brown, they scored a combined 111 TDs, that final year.
The AVERAGE team in the NFL scores 40 TDs per year.. If we could get to just that, with our defense, this team could be contenders. Playoff teams over the past 5 years scored an average of 43 to 51 TDs per regular season. So, it is no wonder this team hasn't been to the playoffs the past two years.
The Baker Mayfield years: 2018 44 TDs 2019 38 TDs 2020 43 TDs Playoff year, with 1 playoff win 2021 Injured year 43 TDs
This team has got to get back to scoring TDs.

Side note, I really hope we don't have him on STs for his first year. He's going to have his work cut out for him integrating into the offense. Whether he/we like it or not, we are so low on dynamic talent in the WR that our rookies are going to be forced into larger roles.

IMO he is going to get used as often as possible.
Monken wants the offense to score. That is the reason he was hired. That and his work with quarterbacks.
Monken will play guys who will prove themselves during practice.
We added receivers to compete both within the team and against others.
If Watson outplays SS in camp. He will start.
Monken is going to play the guys who he believes gives the Browns the best chance to win games at all times.
He will use every asset.

Irish if we can get back to that type of offensive production with our D we can contend for the division. I've already been telling friends of mine the Browns are going to make the playoffs next season. They laugh and think I'm nuts, but I am serious. With the weapons we now have all we need is SS to play decent. It may take a few games for all the new pieces to gel but with Todd Monken I believe this will happen.

We just, as an organization love short WRs and WRs who drop passes.
Got both here.
Ceiling is Zay Flowers, good player but closer to JAG than an All Pro.
Addressed an obvious, desperate need.

We just drafted Boston who is 6'4".
KC is 5'11 7/8. 200lbs.
?
Neither guy has played a snap yet. We don't yet what they are except they are not small.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Addressed an obvious, desperate need. In his 3 seasons, Zay Flowers was in the running for offensive rookie of the year (finished 6 as a non-QB,) and then made 2 Pro Bowls. Seems like more than a JAG. His ceiling is more Antonio Brown, to me. But, as others have said, KC's not proven at this level yet. We'll see how it goes.

Addressed an obvious, desperate need. What?? WR room from shortest to tallest: KC Concepcion 5'11" - starter Tylan Wallace 5'11" Isaiah Bond 5'11" Jerry Jeudy 6'1" - starter Cedric Tillman 6'3" Denzel Boston 6'4" - starter 5'11" isn't short for a receiver, 5'9" is short for a receiver, but there are some in the NFL. We have no idea what their floor or ceiling is. All we know are the traits we can see on film. If this was Puca Navua's ceiling coming our of college, would he have been a 5th round draft pick? All Berry did was up the odds that we drafted productive receivers, but we have no idea what that ceiling is. If Zay Flowers IS the ceiling, I will take 1100 yards and 3 TDs all day long... as will I take 900 yards and 10 TDs from Boston. He is here to catch first downs and TDs, but does have the ability to do even more than that, imho. Get them both going and Jerry Jeudy would make one helluva complimentary receiver. We haven't even mentioned Fannin... This could be a really fun team, let's pick up the positivity around here.

Everyone would prefer a receiver that is over 6 foot and 200 pounds. But if the receiver is a Desean Jackson type they will accept 5'-10" and 175 lbs.
More than one body type can be successful at WR. it not the same as OL or DL.
Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!…. That did not age well.

So, everyone is just supposed to stop talking about the Browns now that the draft is over? No opinions because they haven’t played in an actual game? Opinions have been formed for over a year on these players and then strengthened or weakened based on this past season and the current offseason. Not knowing what their career holds doesn’t change the potential you either see or don’t see in the newest players. If you don’t have an opinion either way until they play a game, what draws you to these message boards in the first place?

Since the draft ended I have gone back and looked at more tape.
So far I have only dug deep on Fano, KC, Boston, and Eman.
I am fired up about their potential for many reasons. All four have college tape to be excited about.
I know the NFL is a different stage but these prospects look damn good to me.
In addition all four have a real passion for football. At least it comes across that way.
Camp should be really fun this year because with last year's draft class which looked good and played well can improve this football team. These two drafts can do wonders to move the Browns forward.
I am in a kind sports glory fog. Braves have the best record and have yet to lose a series. Shocking to me to have an eleven game lead over the Mets and Phillies.
Cavs win last night. Guardians have a good team to watch.
2026 is looking good so far.

Look, if KC has any trouble catching the ball I have a very simple solution. Put some of that Alien tape on his fingertips. He'll never drop a pass again!!!!

Neither guy has played a snap yet. We don't yet what they are except they are not small. I agree with you. Which has me confused as to why everyone is gushing over the players that were picked in this draft as if they're already all pros. That's really odd because some of the very same people who were questioning both Fano and KC have suddenly fallen in love with them since they received a Browns jersey. Did someone put soured milk in your coffee? People aren't talking about opinions so much as projections. Remember how "masterful" you claim this draft was? Yet we have no idea. I understand what potential is. I know what that means. And every year I see all 32 teams draft players with that potential or those teams wouldn't draft those players either. I also see a lot of those players who never reach that potential in the NFL. Draft busts litter the league from the first round on down. This FO and team are not exempt from that. That's basic reality. It seems you think everyone else has a right to their opinion yet I don't have a right to mine. Just because you don't like it and don't agree with it isn't a me issue.

I think you picked up my coffee with the sour milk.
I didn’t want either of these guys, but where they were rated and ranked, to get four of the consensus top 30 guys, how can you be so bah humbug?
I didn’t question your opinion, I questioned your negative demeanor against others with a positive opinion.

So a differing opinion is "negative"? I get it. It's the "step in line with others!" club. Yeah, no.
For years on this board the consensus was that you can't judge a draft for three years. That everything is an unknown until we see the players in the NFL. That even elite talent often times doesn't transfer to the NFL. People never considered that "negative". They considered that reality because it most certainly is.
None of that is "bah humbug". It's obvious that you have missed many of my comments. Much of it has not been negative. Simply put, trying to pretend or convince yourself these players are going to be great and this was somehow a master class in drafting is very premature. But I will say that we now live in a world where being realistic and pragmatic is often times not received well. This is one of those times.
Drafting a player at what is called "a value position" only matters if that player produces well in the NFL. When you draft a player at a "value position" it means one of two things. Either you really pulled one over on the other teams who aren't able to see what you did or the other 31 teams saw something you didn't.
It could go either way. Let me guess. That's negative too?
We as fans only hear the talking heads and have no idea what 32 NFL GM's actually see in these players. Remember how Shedeur Sanders was a first round pick according to the "draft experts"?
So drafting players "consensus top 30 guys" is taking the word of the very same people that said Shedeur Sanders was a projected first round pick. None of us have any idea how NFL teams had any of them ranked.
If you consider reality "negative? That's not my problem.

Seems the times they are a changin.. That doesn't seem to be the consensus any longer.
Look, we are talking about two completely different things.
WE ARE ALL talking about the draft... YOU are talking about judging the draft class.
At this point in time it has everything to do with the players as they are perceived today.
Again... With your way of thinking, we now have absolutely zero to talk about. The draft is over, nothing else can be talked about until they have 3 years under their belt. Turn off your keyboard when it comes to the draft, discussion over.
That's ridiculous.
I'm not going to get into a personal attack.. It is what it is. We disagree on whether or not we should be allowed to have an opinion on the draft before 3 years from now.

We disagree on whether or not we should be allowed to have an opinion on the draft before 3 years from now. There's only one problem with that. I never said anyone isn't allowed to have an opinion different than mine. Mine is just different than some others and it seems you are having at least a mild tantrum about that. At this point in time it has everything to do with the players as they are perceived today. And once again, the perception of who? As best as I can tell people are basing their perceptions on what sports reporters and draft gurus have said about these players. By stat sheets and workout statistics. Even trivializing the stats they don't like while accentuating the stats they do like. The same people who claimed for the most part that Shedeur Sanders was a first or second round pick. Nobody is trying to prevent you or anyone else from traveling down that bumpy road. Just don't be surprised if you spill your Big Gulp again when you hit the pot holes. It won't be the first time and certainly not the last. I get it. Many are looking for every reason possible to be giddy about the draft. But gravity is real and at some point you will come back down to earth. But in the mean time, knock yourself out by blaming me for that.

Once the practices begin KC is a guy I believe will start making his mark.
His kind of quickness is damn hard to cover in short space.
Receivers who can shake a defender right off the line are super valuable. They are a quick release for a QB under pressure.
IMO KC is a natural in the type of offense Monken runs.
IMO Monken will line KC up all over the place. Monken will look for matchups that he knows he can win.
I am looking forward to seeing the Monken offense. I believe with the additions made the Browns will become way more of a threat than what we have seen. Last year the offense was in horrible shape. OL was terrible. The receivers scared nobody. Quarterback play was the bottom of the barrel.
Watching the games as a fan when you cannot score is very frustrating. You feel like you are never in the game.

I get that because it is a part of his college record.
However, when I watched his college tape I wanted to see that. I looked at that specifically.
What I saw was him making really good catches. I mean wow type. Then I watched the drops.
They were concentration drops not stone hand drops. Trying to run before securing the ball.
He will have to work on that but I think he can correct that. I am sure it is something he will work at.
But when you watch how he gets open and his return and run after the catch skills. You see a guy who should catch many passes and impact games.
This is May. This is what is for dinner.

I don't mind having an opinion based upon his tape knowing he has not played in games. I'm certainly not objecting to you having an opinion. I never even hinted at that. My opinion is I've seen far too many college players with all of the potential in the world whose talent just never seemed to transfer to the next level. And I'm certainly not saying that's what will happen here. But even in the first round the success of a draft pick is basically 50/50. A few years ago I did a 20 year look at exactly how good your chances are of being a solid starter in the NFL, based on your draft round. I just wanted to mention this as we get salty about how bad this or that guy is playing who was taken in the 3rd or 4th round. Odds are not high you will become a difference maker in the NFL... no matter where you're taken. 1st round - about 50% of players drafted in the 1st round developed into solid NFL starters. 2nd round - about 33% of players drafted in the 2nd round developed into solid NFL starter. From here, it dropped by 50% per round. 3rd round - about 16%. 4th round - about 8%. 5th round - about 4-5%. 6th round - about 2%. 7th round - about 1-2%. https://247sports.com/nfl/cleveland...yer-in-the-nfl-by-draft-round-211678773/As such I simply look for evidence on the field of play in the NFL. I mean let's face it, how many times have both of us gotten our hopes built up over first round draft picks that went belly up and never amounted to anything? As I said, I'm not going to say that will be the results with KC but you know, it's 50/50.

Schrodinger's cat isn't all that useful in determining outcomes. He'll eventually end up on one side or the other.
Honestly, the problem I have with trying to project Concepcion's outcome is more about QB than his capabilities.
I think he's better than past Browns 1st round WRs. I think his QBs are also bad similar to past busts. OL is kind of an unknown at the moment, too.
I do like that he's had success in multiple roles at multiple places.

He will be here on a four year rookie deal. Surely to GOD this FO will find a QB before his contract expires. At least that's the hope.
The odds are 50/50 on KC just as they are every other 1st round draft pick of being a solid starter in the NFL. People can dismiss a 20 year body of evidence all they like but for some reason he was the 4th WR drafted in 2026 and at the #24 position.
That certainly doesn't mean he won't do well but it's certainly not some ringing endorsement that he will either.

I do like that he's had success in multiple roles at multiple places. I think this is the main ingredient. It is easy to evaluate a WR when you have a proven QB. We don't have that, so it will be very difficult to show one way or the other, until a QB stands up and becomes someone that will help us monitor that growth. In other words, it will be easy if one of the QBs becomes a guy that throws for 250+ yards per game at a 64%+ completion rate and the team scores 40+ TDs overall. It isn't all that telling if a WR only has 4 TDs and the QB only throws 15 on the year for that statistic. That goes to scheme. But, if a QB comes in and over the next 3 seasons consistently throws for 275+ yards per game at 67% completion and 30 TDs.. If Concepcion only has 450 yards and 3 TDs, I think we will be able to call him a bust without much backlash. If we get 190 yards per game at 58% completion, 17 TDs.. it will be much harder to blame a single wide receiver. The O-line can definitely be a wild card. We won't know until mid-season where they are as far as gelling, etc.

I agree with you.
In fact in some ways that is why Monken wants to establish his first string as early as possible. He wants the first string to get as many reps together as possible.
I am not doubting what Mary K "reported."
DW would look better early. He is a former 1st round pick and pro bowler. He has played at a high level even though it was a long time ago.
In early practice if healthy I expect he would look the part.
That does not mean he will play well.
Honestly until I see our quarterback in game action or joint practice sessions at minimum. I place next to nothing about our quarterbacks at this stage.

I'm not a fan of Mary K. She also stated "SHE would" take Ty Simpson at #6.. But she also said that she expected it to be one of the tackles in Fano, Mauigoa or Freeling based on her sources. I really never thought she has legit sources, but here we are with Fano...
In my opinion, Sanders will have to lose the job. It's a possibility. If Watson is the starting QB, it isn't because he won the job, it's because Shedeur lost it. That is because there is no future for Watson after the 2026 season. If he was signed through 2027, we would be having a different conversation. Haslem called him a swing a big miss, with a guy like Watson, that is an end to a means. I could still see Watson play well in 2026 if Sanders can't take the reigns. That next contract is going to be a real motivator for Watson A) wanting to play, B) play well and C) not miss any time due to injuries. If all three factors are in his favor, he gets another team to give him a lucrative contract. After all, even though it seems like he has been in the league forever, he's only 30 years old.
I agree Bone, until I see it with my own eyes against someone not wearing browns and orange, with full pads on, I don't have high expectations for the QB room. We did not play well last year, 3/4 of this year's staff made up last year's staff. We didn't make a single improvement type move for that room. Does Green have potential? Sure... but adding a 6th round draft pick does not constitute making a move to improve a position. HOPING the guy that has missed the past 1 3/4 seasons due to injury is not a viable option either. So, it comes down to Shedeur, simply because he beat out Gabriel last year.

That certainly doesn't mean he won't do well but it's certainly not some ringing endorsement that he will either. If being a first rounder were the only variable, your number would have more meaning. As is, it's a throwaway stat. If it had predictive power as you are ascribing, drafting projected UDFAs in the first round would magically improve their chance of success. Obviously, it doesn't work that way. It comes down to the individual player and situation they land in.

I'm sure every NFL HC wants his roster set going work outs and training camp, much less pre-season to establish as much continuity as possible going into the season. Every team has new draft picks and FA signings that need to be fit into their line ups. But the fact of the matter is rosters before mini camps even begin are always preliminary. Some players progress. Some players don't quite fit onto new coaching schemes in cases like ours. Each team that has a new coaching staff has to see how that transition plays out. They have to see how their draft picks skill sets transition to the NFL.
We have seen it time and again how depth charts are re-writen and change as things progress though mini camps, training camps and pre-season. It's simply the nature of the beast.

I have stated this in the past but will repeat it.
I have watched Greg Cosell for many years. He is very knowledgeable and knows a ton of high level NFL people. Going way back to Bill Walsh who schooled him on offensive football.
Greg watches 40 to 50 hours of tape a week.
When he gives an opinion; he refers to his notes not what others said. I just watched him interviewed by Adam the Bull.
They went through most of the Browns draft class. He spoke highly of KC and Eman.
He doesn't grade players. He just tells you what he saw on their football tape. According to Greg NFL people evaluate two things on players. Their playing tape and who they are as people. He makes it clear that he doesn't know the players. He only watches their tape.
His comp on KC was Zay Flowers from the standpoint of what he saw and how he should be used. That is of interest because of Monken and Flowers.
Eman's tape shows a guy who can play. He plays a complete safety and shows up with size and fluid movement skills.
On Fano he mentioned that he will play a long time in the NFL. But he is not sure where. His first thoughts were center.
KC is going to be open and thrown to. Because of his return and after the catch skills. Monken will use him on WR screens.
IMO he is going to catch a lot of balls.
