Let me clarify some ridiculous notion being presented as though it means something that it certainly does not. Saying "it takes three years to evaluate the draft" doesn't mean there is nothing to be said or commented on about players selected in this or any draft. There will be players drafted we will be seeing on the field either right away or very soon. The tangible results seen on the filed by them is certainly comment worthy IMO. How players are developing and improving is also something tangible and worthy of comment. What it means is
you can not evaluate a draft in its entirety for three years. And the reason behind that is quite simple. Many drafted players come into the league not a finished product. As is often the case it will take time for some of them to develop as players. Some do it faster than other players and some never reach that level at all. So you have to allow that process to play out before you can evaluate such things. It's actually allowing leeway for these players to develop, allowing time for them to mature. That's not a
negative. Actually that's a positive. Not rushing to say a player is a bust before he has time to develop happens all too often.
Let's take Fano for example. He was the first LT selected in this draft. He was selected at #9. As the first LT selected he should be able to play the LT position pretty soon if not right away. He should be able to play the position at least as an average NFL starting LT. Indications are he can play multiple positions but if you spent the #9 draft pick on the LT position that player should be a starting NFL LT. If he is or is not achieving that goal it's quite worthy of discussion. Fano is not the "2026 NFL draft". He is one player in that draft.
KC was the 4th WR taken in the 2026 draft. As such he should fall in line with that level of production among the WR's selected in this draft. He is a first round pick and as such that should be expected. Discussing if he is meeting or exceeding that projection is certainly worthy of discussion.
Point being "the draft results in its totality" can not be measured until all players selected have an opportunity to develop.
Please don't allow someone trying to make some preposterous allegation to the contrary fool you. As far as I'm concerned people can make any comments they want about any player or players drafted they so choose. But the fact of the matter is none of us really know what they will be in the NFL until we see them suit up and take the field.
Hopefully that clears up that nonsense.
And just to avoid even more nonsense that's JMO.
