Personally some of the Socialist things in the USA I am for: Social Security, Medicaid, Public Education, Minimum Wage, Child labor laws, the Postal Service, Public transport and roads ... emergency and protective services ...

I think we could move further left and copy some of the European countries who are WAY left of the USA and who are always ranking highly on quality of life, education etc.

They only hate socialism when it's something they don't need or want. Ike heavily taxed the wealthy and created the largest infrastructure plan in U.S. history to that point by building the interstate highway system. He warned the nation about the rise of the military industrial complex we all see today. Ike could never run as a Republican today and Republicans would be calling him a communist.
