I've been to 10 or so Bills games. In your eyes that must mean I am a Bills fan.
What in the hell does this have to do with anything? And you are questioning my loyalty because of how I became a fan, by attending games and falling in love with a team? Gee, I'll bet nobody else ever became a fan that way. Dude, you are reaching so hard your going to strain something. Give it up, you look more foolish with every post.

Um, this is a smack forum, it goes on all the time. And when I tire of someone or realize they have limited mental capacity, I often move on.

"Um, this is a smack forum, it goes on all the time. And when I tire of someone or realize they have limited mental capacity, I often move on."
Ever stop and think that some posters on this board might have children with that problem? No.... you didn't. Apparently you realize I don't have limited mental capacity or your not tired yet because your still posting. You put your own reasoning for being a Browns fan in question. Not me. Because you questioned my reasoning for being a Patriots fan. Does that mean I'm supposed to just lie down and take it? (Oh I forgot... according to Christy, because I say I'm a Patriots fan that means I feel everything BB did was justified. Whatever) I went to college too Jules but then the "arrogant" card would be used against me. If I post smack about the Browns... I'm arrogant. That's all I've ever heard so it's safe to assume this board is no different. I had no beef with you and you can not admit you attacked me for no reason.
If I was really that bad of a fan.... don't you think more then just you would have been all over me with all these posts? I would expect nothing less . I'm not talking about just the posters who post 1 comment and leave the thread. Stop and think of what's going on here. I'm trying to reach a compromise with you.
What are you really mad about in life Jules? Because whatever it is, it isn't anything I said or did. Smack is smack... but personal attacks? Damn.

I'm a Browns fan and a Reds fan. Guess I'm a frontrunner, too. Yes, both those teams have done SO well lately. I fell in love with the Reds as a small child watching games (while listening on the radio) with my Grandparents. Never cared for football (for personal reasons) until I was 15 and met a couple who were Browns fans. They took the time to teach me about the game and share their passion for the sport. That's when I fell in love with the Browns. If you call that peer pressure, you need to look up the meaning. Peer pressure would be my family full of Bengals fans trying to brow beat me into going to the dark side. I'm pretty sure that after 22 years, they know it's not going to happen. How did you become a Patriots fan? Who does your family root for? Was it peer pressure? Did you feel like you had to root for them because they did?

I'm a Browns fan and a Reds fan. Guess I'm a frontrunner, too. Yes, both those teams have done SO well lately. I could have sworn I admitted I used the word improperly typing the English language. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I fell in love with the Reds as a small child watching games (while listening on the radio) with my Grandparents. That's great spending time with the Grandparents. My Grandfather was a hard core Yankees fan. He was born and raised in the Bronx. Moved to Boston as a young adult. My dad was born here. As soon as he knew the Red Sox existed (around age 4-5) he fell in love with them because they were the home team. Imagine that...instant loyalty to his home city. Same reason I love the Red Sox... they are the team that represents my city. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Never cared for football (for personal reasons) until I was 15 and met a couple who were Browns fans. They took the time to teach me about the game and share their passion for the sport. That's when I fell in love with the Browns. If you call that peer pressure, you need to look up the meaning. You sorta answered your own question here. So if that couple were Raiders fans then.... you'd be a Raider fan? Re-read what you wrote and let it sink in for a minute. It makes no sense to me to cheer on another cities team when there is one in my own backyard. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How did you become a Patriots fan? Born, raised and still live in Boston. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Who does your family root for? Immediate family, all the Boston teams because they represent my home town. Wife, all the Cleveland teams because it is her home town. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Was it peer pressure? Did you feel like you had to root for them because they did? Naaaaw. It's called having pride in where I'm from. Think of it this way, in a watered down version.....in the Olympics... why cheer for the U.S.A. in water polo and then cheering for Mexico in soccer. Does that make it more clear as to where I'm coming from?

Your right. All this "Pat the Patriot" (the old logo) stuff I have was given to me. I didn't buy any of it. I've lived my entire life in Boston. That's not a good reason to cheer on the home team or anything. Through the good and the bad. All this crap that has gone on this year and I still say I'm a Pats fan with pride. Yeah... I'm a bandwagoner.
OHHHHHHH! There is something else for Christy to take out of context.

First of all, I didn't ask a question. Second, I don't live in Cincinnati, why should I follow the Bengals? (Just like I don't live in Cleveland, why follow the Indians?) And, what team would you suggest the folks in Columbus follow? Almost dead center between Cleveland and Cincinnati. Hmmm...maybe they just shouldn't be football fans. Third, never know...I may have been a Raiders fan if my friends were. I thank my lucky stars every so often that they were Browns fans, though. All I know was I wasn't going to be a Bengal fan. Ever.

No. You seem to think that people must be loyal to their "home" city. And, I think for the most part, people generally are. I'm just not sure what you want those of us in cities without teams to do. And, your Mexico v. America example is rubbish. If there were a NFL team from America and one from Mexico, I think we would all root for the American team.
Also, what do you suggest people do about college teams? Root for their hometown school or are they allowed to root for the school they attended? Here's one that will getcha....I like Ohio State and Michigan State almost equally.

Either she cheers for the Reds because they have won the title and the Indians haven't OR she doesn't cheer for the Bengals because half of them are in jail and the Browns are a better storied franchise.
You seem to ASSume and take a lot of stuff for granted without having a solitary clue as to the truth.
Just like Jules, I root for the Reds in baseball and the Browns in football. I live about 120 miles from Cleveland and about 165 from Cincinnati. These are both Ohio teams, involved in different sports, and rooting for one vs the other does not mean a damned thing in regard to "loyalty" or anything involving a frontrunner attitude. I root for these Ohio teams as an Ohioan you see.....(or maybe you don't see)
I would explain my rearing and why this came about to like a Cleveland team in one sport and a Cincy team in another sport, but it would be a waste of my time to do so with you. It is something that many of us on here have already discussed in depth on more than one occasion and I don't have to validate anything for a snobbish Bostonite who is okay with his team having cheated for many years in both on field and off field rules violations.
You say your wife is a Cleveland fan....that's fine. Let her post here. You are here for one purpose and one purpose only and that is not to interact with other sports fans as you state but instead to cause turmoil, and you are probably getting your jollies right now from the responses you have raised on here thus far.
You are nothing but a troll. If you were here to interact, you would be discussing the game in the Pure Football forum, but nay, you are found here in the shack.
Quote:
Either way... either you are loyal to your home city...... or your not. It isn't rocket science.
No it isn't, as has already been explained to you.

I have a real hard time arguing with a person who cheers for a different team in every different sport. That to me is a total joke.
The fact that you can't grasp a simple concept is the joke.

There is only one reason a fan hates a non division team so much. Its because their team cant beat them. Just like Cleveland fans hated Denver so much back in the late 80s early 90s.
I would much rather be a Patriots fan last season then a Steelers fan. The Patriots are still a Super Bowl contender next year. Cant say the same for the Steelers. The North Division wont have a wild card team next year and Pittsburgh WILL NOT win the division.I can honestly say that the best team didnt win the Super bowl last year. The Patriots were getting a little too full of themselves.

Since Browns fans like going after people for no reason when I was smacking with a Steeler fan..... Have I ever formally thanked you all for Manny Ramirez and Bill Bellichick? How rude of me.... THANK YOU!. How did Trot Nixon and Willie McGinest work out for you?
Cleveland... where careers go to die. Cincinnati... where players go to jail. Pittsburgh.... where Doctor's just LOVE to practice medicine.
As far as me "like getting beat up" Gotta throw the ole neglected dog a bone to chew on sometime or another. It gets lonely at the top. That's they only way your city will ever taste a championship ever again.

Had Manny known he would end up taking less money going to Boston than the Tribe had in their deal he would have stayed in Cleveland.
Umm ... Bellicheater was the coach of the Ravens when he got fired. Two months after the Browns had disbanded. Then became your DC and moved on to the Jets as DC. Then he resigned as their HC and took the Job as you head cheater ... I mean head coach. So you should Thank either the Ravens or Jets, or possibly both.
Trot beat the Red Sox in one of the games in the ALCS. Yes the Sox won the series in 7, but Trot helped push it to 7.
Willie has been a welcome addition to the Browns. Coach on the field for the OLB in the 34. BTW What has the Pats done since Wille McG left besides choke in the Playoffs??

The asterisk is classic. Shows the maturity level of the Cleveland mind frame. Cleveland can't hang with the big boys. That's why they lose at everything. I can't smack with Cleveland fans. It's like beating up the neighborhood mentally challenged kid and then bragging about it. It's just not right.
