Quite a number of good remakes here. I could probably list 100 too if I could hear them, but here's a few:
I agree with the guy who said Pearl Jam's "Last Kiss". That song and Eddie's voice is a great combo.
Also have to agree with those who mentioned "Smooth Criminal" by Alien Ant Farm. Some songs just sound better with an Alternative sound to it.
P.Diddy's remake of "I'll be watching you" into "I'll be missing you" was awesome. The first is kind of a creepy stalker song, the second is a great tribute song to a close friend that died.
Okay ... don't take away my "man membership" for this one ... but Mariah Carrey's version of "All I want for Christmas" is 20 times better than the original.

LOL! BTW, I like that version too. But, I'm a chick!

The original is so dull and boring, Orgy's version flippin' ROCKS! That song gets me so pumped!
When I heard it, I was thinking, how did they pick this song? Such a bland song and make it 100x better and rock it out. Not only is that my all-time favorite cover, it's probably my favorite rock song.
I'm going to have to agree with Dawgpound017. The newer version kicks serious sh...stuff in (compared to the original). It's really my own preference though.
As far as my own favorite remake...Stevie Wonder's Version of Higher Ground:
And the Red Hot Chili Peppers version:
They give thanks to Stevie near the end of the song -
an stevie knows that, uh, no-bodys gonna bring me down. Till I reach the highest ground. cause me n stevie, see, were gonna be a sailin on the funky sound Till I reach the highest ground.
I've recently been listening to a lot of Stevie Wonder. He was a big influence on the RHCP and the entire music world. He was way ahead of his time.
“...Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala, up for the layup! Oh! Blocked by James! LeBron James with the rejection!”
My sound is busted on my laptop currently, but is that Tori Amos remaking "Raining Blood" by Slayer???WTH?
I have to agree with Orgy Blue Monday. thats so much better than the orig. Also, all the songs Nirvana did on "Live in NY" was awesome. Thats my favorite album of all-time! I love "Where Did You Sleep last Night" and that version of "Oh Me"
Man I miss Nirvana
Our honor defend, we will fight to the end, for OHIO! GO BUCKS!
Since the thread may be thinning out a bit....how about we go in another direction with the same theme? Any song remakes you want to hear and from what band would you want to hear it from?
I've been wanting this one for a while now...
RHCP to remake "Cult of Personality" from Living Colour.
“...Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala, up for the layup! Oh! Blocked by James! LeBron James with the rejection!”
Best remake ever, hands down (Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower is very close, though) is Blinded by the Light by Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Springstee did it originally and his version sounds like garbage. Manfred Mann made this one of the greatest rock songs of all time.

Orgy did a remake of You Spin Me Round as well, and it sounds pretty much EXACTLY the same as that. I thought it WAS Orgy when it started playing. Weird. Wonder who did the remake first, because one of them straight ripped the other one off right there.
Hold on.....is THAT Orgy? The song is EXACTLY the same.....the voice is a little more gruff than then Jay's (lead singer of Orgy), but the song and even the way it's sung sounds the same. Wow, rip off right there.
EDIT: It is the same song. I researched it, and I guess when I downloaded it several years back, someone mislabeled it as Orgy, when it is indeed Dope. The lead singers voice is a little more gruff than Jay from Orgy. The whole time I thought it was Orgy doing a song for a soundtrack. Stupid me.

The Donnas are a great cover band... they have done some fantastic covers including Too Fast For Love by Motley Crue, Living After Midnight by Judas Priest and Strutter by Kiss. More recently they did a good cover of Dancing With Myself by Billy Idol.
Your brother was probably thinking of Great Whites version of "Once bitten, twice shy". It was a remake and a hit for them, though personally am not a huge fan of the song. Faster Pussycat did a pretty good remake of your so vain, now that I am thinking about it.
