Apparently you have the time to waste talking about him.

Anyone see Montel Williams refuse to talk about Ledger on Fox? He consistently brought up dying soldiers throughout the segment. It was refreshing.

And just because you don't care about a junkie doesn't mean you have to mock him, either. To mock a soul in pain is a sign of the unbeautiful...I believe Oscar Wilde said that.

Well, you would know!

It's really not hard to spell words correctly or are you trying to label me? Which one is it? Millions, take xanax for serious mental medical reasons, my wife has since she suffers from PTWS, is that funny to you? I guess in your under developed mind, it's cool take make fun of people who suffer from serious mental issues.

I know you dislike me and that's fine, you wanna play the label game I can do that too, but won't since I am a better person then you and would never make light of people who suffer from mental issues, your sick and actually are the one who needs help. I bet you make fun of the participants of the Special Olympics as well. You lack class sir, and I did think you were somewhat better then that, but I see your true colors coming out, and trust me it isn't pretty. Grow up.

First of all, it was a joke...so get over yourself.

Secondly, you don't know me or anything about me. I have no mental issues, and no I've never laughed at the Special Olympics.

Thirdly...class? I'm sure you changed the title of this thread to Heath Ledger was a junkie...real classy!

Here's that Montel Williams video. I guess he got cancelled over it, and Fox stations all pulled his show.

Thanks Dad, you've shown me the light.

FYI I will mock anyone I want especially people who don't give a damn about themselves anyway. Good for Montel Williams, though I don't watch his show, and as for whatever Oscar Wilde said, well he was considered a pedophile by many, so he can rot in hell with the rest of them as well, and his words fall on death ears and hold no merit into how I think, and will say what I feel, even if people dislike it.

Do you stick up for Damher's actions as well?

So making fun of the mentally disabled is a joke to you?

Heath Ledger was a junkie, there is no problem with correcting the title of this thread, it is an option, so I used it.

Now go make fun of hospice patients since making fun of people with real illnesses is hilarious to you. Oh and Heath Ledger didn't have an illness, he was just a junkie idiot.

No...I was making fun of YOU!!!

And I'm sure you know the ins and outs about Heath Ledger's medical history...

Anyway, you are a tad sensitive, on your period?

I didn't bring up Oscar Wilde, you did, but no way does a word from a person who is thought to be a pedophile mean a damn thing to me, as I said they can all rot in hell.

I figured since you quote Oscar Wilde, you would do the same thing with Dahmer.

Either way this thread is now going beyond ridiculous, I will again be the bigger man, and let you guys love on the junkie I call Brokeback Ledger. Hopefully you hypocrites can live with it. Sorry to upset all you "perfect" people.

I guess you're a sheep then. You must not like any movies the critics hate, since you are convinced by what they say.

He very well might deserve an emmy, I don't know until I actually see the movie. I think that gives me a little more credibility.

For the record, I have probably seen more Heath Ledger movies then any of you. He has produced some of the worst characters I have ever seen. Roles in movies like "10 Reasons I Hate You" and "A Knight's Tale" don't give me great confidence in his acting ability.

Fletch it seems to me you have often been the hypocrite in this thread.
You critcized a person for "making fun" of those who take Xanex yet at the same time you drop the line "No need to push the meds you take, onto others" in the same thread. Seems to me that it's all just a wee bit contradictory.

Then you bash another person for making fun of those with "mental illnesses" yet you do the same thing, by labeling Heath a "junkie" who deserves no sympathy. Addiction is a disease. I for one feel bad for those that suffer from it. I know quite a few people who have gone through addictions, and as it turns out they're humans just like anyone else, no less deserving of sympathy than myself.

You also say people who kill themselves shouldn't receive sympathy. I suppose anyone who smokes falls into the same category. Those with a sweet tooth, throw them in there too, there's a good chance there signing themselves up for diabetes and that's going to shorten one's lifespan. Overweight or obese people toss them in there. Face it Fletch, we all have our faults and a lot of them aren't healthy.

Bottom line is I feel bad for just about anyone who dies with very few exceptions. And if Heath Leger's death was a suicide then I'm sad he thought that was the only way to go about the problem. If it was an O.D. then I'd be sorry he never got any help.

Bottom line is no one is perfect. And they shouldn't be expected to be.

On the topic of the movie, I'm excited to see it. It seems like it will be a good one.

No, I am not perfect, which is why I am not gonna bag on junkies, gays (which isn't even a flaw), or anyone else. I have my flaws, and I do my best to minimize them, but I am not gonna belittle those who have bigger flaws then me.

You're the one who seems to think your perfect since you spend so much time criticizing others. I usually just skip over your posts, but after a while it is just impossible to take. You're the one throwing stones, I'm trying to dodge them.

Ok I kind of hopped in here in the middle of all this bickering... but just wanted to state that addiction is a chemical illness... it's easy to prevent (don't do drugs), but one can become addicted to anything... the body adapts and creates a chemical imbalance where it's very, very difficult to break the habit. Addiction (or as you put it being a junkie) is an illness... unfortunately it's one usually brought on by one's self... not all the time though.

Today's the day!...well at midnight at least.

Cannot wait...this very well might be the defining movie of the decade. Got my day planned out, come home from work around 6, eat, nap, shower, pop in Batman Begins, watch the Prologue after that and by then it should be time to head to the theater (I just hope the rabid comic book geeks who dress up as the characters don't take all the good seats...).

Listen and listen well...

I just got back from the midnight showing.

It's incredible. In fact, calling it incredible is an insult to the film because it is so far beyond incredible.

Go see it this weekend, you have to. I swear by it.

I'm siding with Ammo here. That was easily the best movie I have seen in years. So dark, twisted, and surprisingly deep.

Three thumbs up

Def the best Batman movie Ammo. It's definitely worth going to see.

and yes, Heath Ledger is truly something else in the movie. Best villain i've seen in any batman movie, and definitely on the list of top bad guys. Will Ledger be nominated? He should be, he was superb. But we'll see, what do the Oscars know anyway.

And for those ripping on Ledger,
People have problems, and while many may say he had it great: it might not have been that way from his perspective. He chose to hurt only himself. or at least that's how he saw it. Have you faced major depression, the kind where you try and kill yourself. If you have, dwell on it, because it's a really deep, dark hole, and all you want to do is make the pain end. I kind of compared it to falling asleep, forever.

So yeah, feel bad for the casualties in our wars, but show some class and give a break to a guy who must have been going through a lot of pain, whether drugs brought this pain or simply were his way of numbing it. Junkie or not, the changed title of the thread was lame.

I just finished watching it and I liked it but really I dont know how I feel about it...I mean there is soooo much stuff that happens. Seriously there isn't a minute that passes that something isn't happening.Right now I am ambivalent to it...I really need to watch it again..

All tho this does remind me of the Star Wars trilogy (the originals) 1st- Meet the people see what they can do 2nd- Extremely Dark 3rd- Equals Hope or maybe not...

Wow. Today was quite the day for me.

Went to the John Mayer concert first, the guy was amazing, backed into a lady(bumper damage, accident forgivness so we're good) and then went to the midnight showing of the Dark Knight. There were about 15 people there I knew and we came in about 5 different groups and didn't know any of us would be there..anyway....

The Dark Knight, 2 and a half hours of brilliance. I was extremely into it and haven't seen a better movie in a long time. I'm definitely going to see it again because there was so much to take in. The movie more then delivered and Heath Ledger was suburb. I felt like I was watching a psychopath. The man played his role flawlessly. This movie gets 3 thumbs up from me and I think everyone needs to go see it. Best movie I've seen in a long time.

Now that it's not so late at night I can talk about my thoughts on the movie.

I had already unfortunately run into some spoilers by accident and had seen Two-Face's concept art, but it didn't ruin the movie for me by any stretch of the imagination.

There are two flaws in this movie. Just two. One is Christian Bale's Batman voice...I liked it in Batman Begins but this time around it's even raspier...seems like he took it too far this time around.

Another is a scene where Batman has to leave somewhere and they don't explain what happens to the other people in the room with a villain. I can't say more because I don't want to spoil anything for anyone.

The bottom line is I had ridiculously high expectations (like if I expected the Browns to win the Superbowl) and this movie absolutely shattered them. I've taken a film class so I know what goes beyond "great popcorn movie" and is a "great work of the art of film." This is an absolute masterpiece. It's cerebral, it's action packed, and there's even more laughing moments than I expected from the script. There were moments where I could feel the tension in my stomach as I sat at the edge of my seat.

And it would be an absolute injustice if Heath Ledger doesn't get the Oscar for this performance. I was amazed at how many tiny details he added in his performance.

People I saw it with were amazed by it and they don't follow Bats as closely as I do. I came home and people's facebook statuses were updated talking about how great the movie was, and I didn't expect them to see it at midnight.

I need to see it again as soon as I can. What a great piece of cinema.

I heard it was awesome but about 20 minutes too long. Does that fit at all?

Also, please mark your post SPOILERS if you discuss movie content. I'm here to decide if it's worth finding a sitter to see it this weekend. Thanks.

The black text is probably the best option as the people that don't want to see the spoilers wouldn't accidently read anything they didn't want to.

Saw it last night again...I still hadn't used my $7.50 movie credit from buying the Batman Begins Blu-Ray because I couldn't use it for presale. Didn't have the "wow" factor it did the first time, but I noticed the foreshadowing of events and smaller details.

But anyway, TDK is well on its way to setting a new weekend record.

http://movies.ign.com/articles/892/892042p1.html

Holy Broken Records!
Dark Knight has biggest midnight opening ever.
by IGN Staff
July 18, 2008 - The Dark Knight has reportedly bested the previous record holder, Star Wars, Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith, for the best midnight opening record with an estimated $18.5 million.

Variety reports that Dark Knight, which opened on 4,366 screens, "the $18.5 million did not include 3:00 A.M. and 6:00 A.M." Deadline Hollywood Daily claims, via sources, that Warners Bros. "bigwigs are hoping for between $160 million and $170 million" weekend gross for Dark Knight.

In other Bat-opening news, MovieTickets.com reports that more than 1,300 performances nationwide are still sold out. This includes more than 220 in New York City and Los Angeles alone. All this, combined with a move into the MovieTickets.com Top 5 Pre-Sale List of All-Time, and sky-high approval ratings from MovieTickets.com users, combines to pack a powerful punch.

"We expect the bat signal to be on for quite some time," said Joel Cohen, executive vice president and general manager, MovieTickets.com. "The fact that there are still more than 1,300 sold-out performances to come and we haven't even reached the weekend yet is really quite staggering."
