To me, there's a huge difference between gyrating on a mans lap and actually having sex with him.
No, I would never encourage my daughter to be a stripper, if that's what you're asking. But strip clubs don't have the same impact on society as prostitution, because again, there is no sex involved.
Put it to you this way, there are plenty of men I know that have gone to strip clubs who would never even consider hiring a prostitute...

Speaking of strippers (sorry if I'm hijacking this thread)...
I was wondering what everyone thought about a married man going to a strip club. To me, it's okay for him to go and watch...but do you think it's considered "cheating" if he gets a lap dance?

Quick story. Hubby was in Topeka, KS at the begining of this month. Not much to do out there, so he and the guy he was traveling with went to a strip club. His friend got the lap dance, offered one to John, he said no. John knows that I have no issue with him going to a club, but wasn't sure about my stance on the lap dance. Wasn't that sweet????
My stance: It's not cheating. But, why give yourself the "loaded gun" if you aren't going home to your significant other? Isn't that just asking for some kind of trouble?

Because you go there for fun and it is purely physical. The "hot neighbor" is someone you'd have to see afterwards and that you associate with on a regular basis. Strippers provide a service, even though it's sexual, that's the extent of that relationship. How many of us really run into strippers while shopping or something..my guess is not many.
As for the original purpose of the thread..
I believe prostitution should be legal. It's already widespread and it is the world's oldest profession for a reason. If you can't stop it then might as well make it as safe as possible by requiring regular STD testing, etc. Having a sort of "prostitute center" would also eliminate johns and pimps which is the main problem with prostitution. I mean think about it..if you were to hook up with a prostitute, would you rather it be with someone who's been tested and is proven to be "safe" or take your chance with the girl on the corner?
Edit: I don't go to strip clubs and even if prostitution was legal I still wouldn't pay for sex..but there's MILLIONS of people that do so might as well make it as safe as possible.

Because money is the incentive...money exchanged, lap dance provided, end of transaction. If the hot neighbor came into my home to give me a free lap dance, I think her motive would be a "happy ending" of some sort.

This depends entirely on whether or not his wife views it as cheating and women probably view it differently. If he's going to a strip club his wife ought to know that.. if he doesn't think he can tell his wife, then he shouldn't go and the same logic applies to what he's going to do while he's there. And I'd say the same thing if the genders were reversed and I do think it would be unfair for a guy to think he should be allowed to go but his wife can't go to a male dance club...
Keep it honest, keep it even, and you shouldn't have a problem...

That's what I believe too. Although personally I would think of it as cheating, I realize that there are wives out there who wouldn't consider it cheating, and that's fine. But they need to make sure to set those boundaries early in the relationship.

Most guys I know might go to one when they are out of town or if there is a bachelor party (though I'm beyond the bachelor party age).. nobody that I know is one of those guys that lurks there 2 nights a week...
If a married guy is going to a strip club on a regular basis, then that couple might want to examine their own love life .... JMHO...

I just don't understand it...let me use a scenario as an example... Let's say that me and a few of my friends are at a bar. I call my husband on the phone, and here's how the conversation goes: Me: Hi honey, my friends and I are at a bar right now...there's a really hot guy here and I was about to ask him if he wanted to get in the back seat of my car so he could get naked and rub himself all over me. you're cool with that, right? Hubby: What? Are you crazy? Hell no, that would be cheating! 2 hours later, I call him again, only this time from a male strip club. Me: Hi honey, my friends and I are at a male strip club right now...there's a really hot stripper here and I was about to pay him to get naked and him to rub himself all over me. you're cool with that, right? The money has nothing to do with it....either way, intimate physical contact is going to occur.

Your missing that to the guy giving the dance, it isn't intimate. It's a job. It may be intimate to the person receiving the dance, but it is not to the guy giving it.
The guy that wanted to take you to his car IS more than likely looking for intimacy and more than just a lap dance.

Maybe this will help you out.............. I was 27 the 1st. time I ever went to a strip club  And My wife at the time took me, payed for my 1st. ever lap dance, We both knew we were going home together. But I think it depend's on the couple, if you are secure in your relasionship, and know that nothing else is going to happen, why should it even become a big deal? Fact is it is just fantasy. nothing more or less. jmho.

In all seriousness, I think woman take male strippers way less serious than males take female strippers. For woman yeah it's a guy with a tight body in a bananna hammock, but it's more hilarious than it is serious. Male stripping is a lot more lighthearted. Female stripping is more serious, if that makes sense.
I'm by no means a strip club guy, but girls at the Horse, Christie's, etc, will probably expand out their services for the right price, which guys take way too seriously. Male strippers will do it for the sake of getting laid, women do it for business.

Control and professionalism (for lack of a better word)... the guy at the strip club does this for a living, he knows where the boundaries are to keep his job, there are people in the next room.. and because it's his job, he is far less likely to get sexually aroused and want to go to the next level..

Now suppose he comes home and finds a man in your shower, only he has a tool belt on and a pipe wrench in his hand and you tell your husband its a guy from the plumbing service because the shower was leaking... you get a different reaction because one is supposed to be a professional and there is a reason he is where he is... and when he's done, you get a bill..

I've never really given this topic much thought to be honest..
If a woman wishes to use her body in that fashion,, I guess I wouldn't want to be the one that says she's not allowed to do that. I'm not sure it's any of my business.
I don't have kids, but if I did and a hooker were standing out in front of my house soliciting guys, I'd have a problem with that. Not because I care or should care what she does with her body.. but because I don't need it in front of my children..
But that's more of a location thing than anything else.. I live in Aurora Ohio,, I don't know of any hooker or hookers working this town. But I did some checking...
I won't post the sites here,, but do some internet searching... I did and I found Eros Guide and The Erotic Review.. Google those.. and you will see what I think is hooker heaven..
Pick San Francisco as the city you want to look at.. man, you will be shocked at what you see.... I mean they are right there out in the open.. you see thier faces (and quite a bit more).. it's an amazing underground society or so it appears..
So, I guess it's already happening...wanted or unwanted..its there.. so if it's there and the city can't stop it, then it's wasting resources on it.
Maybe the answer is, legalize it and like Neveda, Regulate it and of course, tax it.
Ahh, in the end, I guess it doesn't matter, it's not referred to as the Oldest Profession for no reason... it's been around a long time and I don't see it going anywhere.

I guess it's because of the gender I used in my scenario that I wasn't able to get my point across...so let's say that the female had a huge male friend with her to witness the entire thing and make sure it didn't go any further than what I stated....we're talking professional wrestler kind-of-huge.
Is there a difference between that, and having it done by a "professional"?

Oh man, if mentally cheating is considered cheating I wonder how many of us are doomed. thinking about your wife/husband mentally cheating is better off not even thinking about, because I think it's inevitable yet disheartening. The sad part is I think most all people mentally cheat, especially guys. Every advertisement directed at men involves some half naked woman it seems like.
