Is it just me, or is Boston being VERY quiet about the Garnett injury? I noticed that he was not on the bench in street clothes today..

Hmm...

Everytime they ask Doc about it, he just kinda babbles about how they need to have him healthy for the playoffs... With that said, I wonder if he will be out longer than the original timetable of 2-3 weeks...

Either way, the time is now... these next 4 games are so freakin big for us...

They said during the game that the reason Garnett is not on the bench with the team is because he's "too intense" and would not be able to handle not playing if he was there and he'd be "pacing the halls", so they decided it was "in the best interests of the team" if he watched the game from home. What a bunch of hooey.

well if we lose, we don't lose any ground on anyone, but days like this where boston and la both lose, ya gotta take advantage.

it would also give you a little wiggle room for tomorrow against miami, who has been playing a little better, wade is playing really well right now.

I don't think yet but even if it does happen I doubt he's playing here. I understand that Lebron can't stand him after the Homer Simpson of the NBA (Gooden) had some unfavorable things to say about LBJ to a few Washington Wizards.

I was just thinking that it is most likely that Gooden was the "mystery" player they were talking about in the PD. I didn't know he had bad-mouthed Lebron though. I guess we'll know more after midnight but, if we only get Joe Smith, I'll be satisfied. Hopefully Wallace will be back for the play-offs.

Have they given any timetable for his return. I would think that a broken leg pretty much ends your season.

I believe that "mystery player" may be Mr. Sheed.

We'll find out soon but, I doubt that the Pistons would just release a player like Rasheed when they still have a shot at the 4 seed.

the mental lapses are weird with this team...

this is similar to the Lakers game at home where in the second half we just stop scoring... so far we have 19 points in the second half through 18 minutes...

Its like we got that 13 point lead and went to sleep...

I'm waiting for Andy to crack Pachulia across the bridge of the nose with an elbow. All the dude does is hack down low, and that moving "screen" where he just put his shoulder into Andy's jaw was ridiculous.

Dont know if the Cavs deserved that one or not after that 2nd half but I will take it for sure. 87-86 final. Good guys.

Very ugly, but I'll take it. Atlanta is a tough home team and we're on our third game in four days. A win is a win!

Wow, we definitely needed that one with the Celtics and Lakers losing today. Joe Smith getting bought out was just the icing on the cake

Highway robbery, but hey, gotta give the guys credit, they held ATL to 19 pts in the fourth... defense definitely won that game...we did a pretty nice job of challenging for the most part in the 4th...

What was nice about the win is that AV, DWest, Mo and Z all hit big shots inside of 5 minutes... nice to see everyone get involved in crunch time...

Gooden was bought out too...

link

The Sacramento Kings have reached a buyout agreement with Drew Gooden in time for the forward to be eligible for the playoffs with another team.

Gooden was formally waived by the Kings shortly after 11 p.m. ET on Sunday night. He had to be released by 11:59 p.m. to be playoff-eligible for his next employer. Gooden was due $7.1 million in the final season of his contract.

San Antonio and Dallas are among the teams that will be chasing Gooden hardest this week, sources said, with the Cleveland Cavaliers expected to land the other prominent veteran who reached a buyout agreement Sunday night: Oklahoma City's Joe Smith.

Both Smith and Gooden are expected to clear waivers Wednesday. The Kings acquired Gooden from Chicago on the eve of the Feb. 19 trade deadline in a deal that sent Brad Miller and John Salmons to the Bulls.

Gooden played his only game with the Kings last Wednesday, getting 12 points and 13 rebounds against Charlotte before leaving the court in pain in the fourth quarter. Gooden has been slowed by a groin injury for six weeks, and hadn't played for Chicago since Jan. 19.

What a steal that Mo Williams trade turned out to be! We got Williams for Damon Jones expiring contract, and a half year rental of Joe Smith.

And Gooden getting released is funny itself too. Did we ever work Chicago over in that mega trade or what?? They couldn't ship Larry Hughes to New York fast enough. Gooden goes to Sacramento and gets released. Shannon Brown is on his 3rd or 4th team in a year. Meanwhile, we're all bummed because Ben Wallace is out for 4 weeks, and happy were getting Joe Smith back.

yeah, and it's funny all the homer/cheerleader chicago media people thought they took us to the cleaners on that trade. funny how if you let things play out overtime you don't always get that result you think you'd get when it first happened.

and last night was an extremely huge win for the cavs, top 5 of the year.

to go in there, and beat a solid team, and execute like they did within those last 2 minutes speaks volumes about this team's mental toughness. they didn't back down. it was spurs-esque. contributions from everyone, not just lebron, and when the time came, we let lebron do his thing.

i was so happy with that final play. yeah it was a questionable call, but we got hosed a few times in the second half.

but to see him attack the rim instead of settilng, and i don't know if we were out of timeouts, or if mb just went with his gut, but i loved it, when u grab a rebound with under :24 with the game tied, you don't always have to call a timeout and set a play up, remember, when u do that, you allow the other team to also set up a play.

and with lebron's speed and athleticism, i want to see more of that, because if you get down there fast enough you can create mismatches and maybe get the quick bucket. you either go right away or you drain the clock to zero.

great coaching, and great execution by the players.

and to hear joe smith got his release is icing on the cake.

how great would it be to take care of wayne dwade and the heat tonight to go 3-1 on maybe our toughest stretch of the season?

one thing that does worry me is d-west, and how healthy he really is...

his defense was outstanding, but his shot last night, outside of a big big shot he hit late in the game, was not good and at times downright ugly. i wonder if it's still rust or if his hand is still bothering him, i know it's his non shooting hand, but still, that can have an effect.

I hope so ... these next two weeks will be the real test of the team. After Miami tonight (4th game in 5 days), we've got three more the rest of the week (7 in 10). We then take a three game West coast trip (I'm going to the Clips game too!).

After that it settles down somewhat. We'll be playing pretty much every other day, but there won't be many back to backs, and most of them will be home games. Gund Arena has been a bit of a "fortress" for us, so if we can get through the next two weeks at least tied with Boston in the loss column, we'll be in great shape.

very true. after tonight we will have just 9 road games left versus 14 home games.

of the 9, the tough ones left are boston, one with orlando, one with a phoenix team playing better, and although indy and philly aren't great teams, those will be tough games. hopefully we'll have a big enough lead in the conference/league that they won't mean a thing.

the rest of the month should be pretty fun.

Wow, good win last night... seemed lucky... It's not often you can say this but they won last night in spite of LeBron who didn't have a FG from the 2 minute mark of the 3rd....

With about 3 minutes left in the game, I thought the Cavs were done, but they willed themselves through a tough, physical game for this win. I wonder if LeBron and Andy have headaches today - that collision could have been devastating to the Cavs.

Also, what was up with the scoring table telling the Cavs coaching staff that West had 4 fouls. A little home court advantage? Forcing Mike Brown to change his lineup at that point in the game could have cost us a W.

gotta love when you overcome stuff like that.

they made their run when d-west was on the bench, for the most part.

i dunno if it was a home court advantage thing or not, but you gotta not make those mistakes.

J/C....

Hope everyone likes watching Wade shoot free throws, cause as usual, he will be at the line tonite, A LOT...

Every damn time we play in Miami he gets whistle after whistle...

Not that I should be complaining, cause LB got the call last nite when we needed it most...but my goodness I get sick of Wade getting a whistle anytime he goes to the rim.. guy gets more calls than Kobe or LB...

it's not just us, it's everyone, and yes, he gets more ticky tack fouls than anyone. lebron got the benefit of the doubt last night, but he almost never gets those calls, let alone those calls that could decide a game. wade won a championship when after game 2 of the finals, they started calling the halo rule on anyone who came within guarding distance of him.

we gotta make him a jump shooter. and it wasn't him that got us last time, it was chalmers knocking down 3 pointer after 3 pointer.

some of which was set up by wade's dribble penetration towards the rim.

i have a feeling we will play a lot better than the last time we were there, even if this is the 4th game of the 5th night. i think we'll give a max effort tonight.

yeah I don't think Chalmers will be as hot tonite... at least I doubt it.. if I recall correctly, Cook had a big game as well...

no way both those guys are as hot as they were last time...

Not to interrupt your pre-emptive complaining with some facts.. but Wade shoots .1 free throws per game more than LeBron (9.4 to 9.3)... and Wade averages a shot and a half more per game and fewer 3-pointers which means he has more opportunity to be fouled going to the rim...
