Yahoo Sports headline:
Cavs’ Williams makes series guarantee
Sounds like he was led into the remark, but nevertheless...
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Aq...p&type=lgns
he was definitely baited into it, but still. just play basketball, be better, don't talk about it.

Here's one for the conspiracy theorists ... the Finals are on ABC this year. Disney owns both ABC and ESPN. And Disneyland has it's two biggest parks in L.A and Orlando.
- Having listened to ESPN all day, one may conclude that this is not a consiracy, but the downright truth.
- My wife and I were watching some Espn talk show with Skip Bayless and some normal guy and a fat chick, I couldnt't believe ESPN calls this unbiased journalism. - All Skip and the fat chick talked about was how Nike and the NBA want Lebron and Kobe in the finals and how the Cavs were getting all the "calls" - When the normal guy noted that the Magic have been to the line more than the Cavs all Skip and the fat chick could say were " Well that's 'cause they were deliberately fouling Howard" The normal dude responded "Yeah, but they were still getting the calls" Skip and that fat chick didn't know what to say.
- Then Skip and that fat chick went on to say that they don't know why people compare Lebron to Kobe. Citing "Kobe has 3 rings, Lebron has none, there is no comparison"
- Complete bs considering Kobe won 3 with Shaq, and since Shaq left Kobe has won 0 while Shaq tacked on another championship in Miami.
- ESPN hates the Cavs. They also hate the idea of Lebron being here past 2010.

Skip Clueless is biased on anything Ohio. Hates The Buckeyes too, call's them the Luckeyes and the Suckeyes.
He is one of the most annoying people on ESPN any time I see him I change the channel. He is one of the guys if I ever seen I would litterally punch in the face. He is such a tool, just one of those guys you can tell was the nerdiest annoying fools in school.

Skip Bayless hates LeBron, because it gets him attention. When he was in Dallas, he used to insinuate that Aikman is gay.
His career is based on inflammatory remarks made to incite a reaction.

yup. he says things to create a reaction, because his knowledge is extremely limited. remember in '07 when he banged on lebron for missing a game winning shot, as well as passing to a teammate for a gamewinning shot which also didn't go in the game before?
after game 5, and after the cavs won the series, skip was mysteriously not on his show. vacation. hilarious.
also, i don't see how abc and espn could want the magic instead of the cavs on.
ratings would not be nearly as good. people like the idea of the 2 best players going head to head in a magic/bird-esque dream series.
and believe it or not, people outside of cleveland would like to see cleveland's long, 4+ decade drought possibly coming to an end.
sure, espn may not talk about it, but that kind of drama would create insane ratings.
cleveland may be a mid-market, but having a player like lebron draws viewers from other cities with no rooting interest in the cavs or cleveland.
so i don't really buy into that conspiracy theory. i think everyone wants cavs/lakers.
and i don't think we've been jobbed through 3 games at all. the cavs simply let their guard up in games 1 and 2, were fortunate to win the second, and just didn't quite have enough in game 3.
sure, there were some bad calls that went both ways, but it's the nba, the hardest sport to officiate, and i wouldn't even come close to saying we've been slighted.

Skip Bayless in definitely the most hated person on ESPN now that Steven A. Smith is gone! I used to watch FirstTake, but I can't Take it anymore.

The officiating has been awful, but awful going both ways. The NBA and David Stern would cut their collective arms off to have Kobe and LeBron in the finals, so would ESPN, ABC, TNT...it brings up the ratings and makes more money.
There is no conspiracy, just horrible refs, and if there was one, it would be to get the Cavs to the finals, not keep them out.

I'm just worried Howard broke ALL the backboards somehow. I mean look at how both teams are shooting. Maybe see if he bent every single rim a little? Shots are juuuuusssssssstttt off!!! Really all we need is for the rest of the starting 5 to shoot just ok. Z expecially needs to shoot well. I wish he'd move into the key or the top of the key a little instead of catching at the three point line. Use those picks to set it up. Hopefully James will guard lewis too!! Still I think we'll play a LOT better, and that will hopefully allow us to even this back up, and make it a three game series.

I wonder why the Lakers/Nuggets series is still being played? I thought once a team went down 2-1, the series was over?
I am unfamiliar with this feeling of optimism

we gotta get z goin early. if he can hit that 18 footer in the first, we can go to him later on. he never had any real rythym in game 3.

I know some people might not like it but Mo stamped his guarantee on this series. Mo says keep the faith... Will Mo go down as the player that helped 'reverse the curse' with his guarantee? I'd like to hope so.

that line gives me a good feeling, why you ask?
because people are gonna go orlando because they think it's easy money, everyone is down on the cavs
and anytime you think it's easy money, IT'S NOT!

How about going with a full court press on the Magic. Seriously, if we came out in the 2nd half with a full court press, who knows, it could get them all discombobulated.

i would just worry about them beating the press, and having an odd man situation where they can kick out to a guy for a 3 point shot.

I think Anderson should be on Howard, what do you think? he's a lil quicker then Z, and we could use Wallace off the bench a little longer?

i think so, only because this z on howard experiment has to be over. it doesn't work.
if z knocks down his shots though, that could cause problems matchup wise in our favor, because it would draw out howard and maybe get us some offensive rebounds.
and speaking of z. can we please stop with him shooting 3s? it was cute in the regular season but now it's causing us to lose precious possessions.
sometimes it seems like they drew it up like that, and other times it was like it was a last option as the shot clock was expiring. either way it's gotta stop.
not only does it cost us possessions, but it sticks our best offensive rebounder on the freaking perimter. stupid.

the first problem with the full court press is that Orlando has been killing us when they get up the floor quickly. they either get a layup or an open 3.
the second problem with the full court press is that Alston, Pietrus, Turk, and Lewis all can handle the ball relatively well. So, you are pressing a team that can pass/dribble right out of it and playing right into their game of speeding things up.
we played well on defense in game3, just couldn't hit open shots and LeBron missed his FTs down the stretch....
Mo and Delonte HAVE to hit open jumpers...that's the simple and possibly only answer

i thought our defense up until the last 5 or 6 minutes was very good, the game was slow, conservative, and choppy, which favored us heavily.
but we took poor shots, and at the other end could not get a stop. and suprisingly, we kept it close until the last minute.
lebron also missed some key free throws.
but yes, i agree, i think most will, we have to shoot the ball better. we have to stop standing around and watching lebron. there is no reason to, this isn't 2007. this is a 66 win team.

my comments for tonight's game:
- Don't change the gameplan on Howard, no way he makes 14 foul throws again. Play Wallace on him, have Varejao come off the bench and start Big Ben.
- Use the post offense for Z. It works, use it, Howard wasn't defending it in Game 2.
- Hit our shots when there open. It killed us in Game 1 & 3.
- PLAY WALLY ****ING SZCBERIAK! I wanna hit a 3!
Don't point a gun at someone unless your ready to pull the trigger.

I agree that Z has not done well defending Howard, but I am not sure that there is an alternative for him.
He cannot guard Lewis, Trukaglo, lee or Alston. They would eat hime alive off the dribble.
Howard is the only magic starter that he can remotely "cover" in this series. He needs to make up for his defensive short comings on the offensive end, unfortunately he is not hitting his shot.
Really the only player Z has a chance to shut down is Gortat.
IT is sad, but if Z is not hitting his shot he needs to be taken off the floor.
Going small with Sasha we can at least match up defensively, and he is giving you just as much at the offensive end as Z right now. (admittedly it is not much) Honestly I would prefer that we played Z when Gortat was on the floor and Sasha when Howard was on the floor. Using Andy, Wallace, DJ and smith to force howard to beat us from the line again.

I agree 100%! We definitely need to play Wally Sczerbiak. During the end of the season, it seemed like he was our most consistent offensive threat off the bench. I just think we need to play our bench more in general. I mean, I think it was game 2 and delonte played the entire 48 minutes. What is that all about. It really does seem like Coach Brown has been a little panicky at times and way to hesitant to take out our starters.

If I can chime in, I will admit I stole this (from an earlier poster in either this thread or the previous one),....they should alternate a string of our big guys in succession whose only role is to pound on Howard in order to get him fouled out, i.e. whatever it takes (except cheating).

Absolutely.
I don't know how many times I can say this --
a) Attack him on offense. He has never proven that he can plant his feet. Why we don't go at him hard once he picks up 3 fouls is beyond me...
b) Forgetting game 3...he's a less than mediocre free throw shooter...and given the way they can get open looks for 3 at will...1 or 2 is a better option.

"Absolutely."Wow, life is good. That has got to be the first time you and I ever agreed on anything,.... It is true though,...this dude can't hit a foul shot--an additional bonus in sending him to the line.

Our bench is averaging 9pts in this series. When we're going good, we could give lebron 5-6 minute blow in the 2nd via guys like Wally, Mo, and Joe Smith putting the ball in the hoop. that hasn't hapened this series. we get nothing out of our 2nd group, and Lebron has to come in only after a 2 minute blow. I see Wally getting some time tonight. Sasha played good in 2, but no so much in game 3. Wally had a 16pt quarter gainst the magic this year. he could post up alston, plus he could hit open shots. He will have his problems defensively, but at least he could score, while James is getting a blow.
I'm confident about tonight. Even if we lose, I'll still be confident. The Magic doesn't have Lebron on their team. You could throw out %'s when you have him on your side.

i mean, if we were able to start him and make him not seem like such a liability against boston last year, why not give him a chance?

Man I have not seen a replay yet, but Orlanda plays cheeseball basketball. How was that that ran under James? When he went up for that three and he rolled his ankle. it was cheap and not called. Guy totally ran under him!!

Ok commercial. Hope someone else saw that play. James looks ok, but it's cheap running under a guy who's up. Lot's of ankle injuies b/c of it. I wouldn't doubt it was Johnson. Lots better ball and player movement from the cavs. Z should STILL get closer to the rim before he get the ball. Be great if Ben W. can play well. Cavs looking better though. I have a good feeling right now though!! (end of first quarter).

we have by far the worst bench in the playoffs..good lord, this team don't deserve to even be in the ECF, the team that won 66 games does..this team don't..everything is rushed, biting on the screen in roll big time ill-timed doubles. Someone other than lebron needs to get hot...Daniel gibson needs to be gone next year..he peaked it seems..and we need to run some plays to get wally some open looks..right now we're making create his own shot..he's much better and catch and shoot. i hope we fix this in the second half, if not, they'll close it out on our court and that is the worst scenario

So you say this after probably the best half our bench has played this series?
Man you really are a downer....
