I'm sure the women were all perfect angels. I'm mainly just giving the "thoughtful" Clem a hard time for how he decided to word that.

**The KING of Music**
I do think your grief has gotten the best of you here.
Very talented entertainer and a pop icon.....I think that's where it ends.
I don't know Jules. King of music is an argument that you could definitely make for MJ.
Only the Beatles and Mariah Carey have more number 1 hits than MJ. MJ is one of the very few performers who were the complete package, who wrote his own songs, performed his own songs, and produced his own music videos.
I really believe that the world will never see a superstar the size of MJ ever again.
Elvis, the Beatles, and Michael Jackson... You can make an argument that any of the 3 were the "King of music", IMO.

What's with the lack of respect for Bethoven or Mozart? Those two were the kings of music.

It's all very subjective. Selling a lot of music or having number one hits really doesn't do a lot for me. There are people who have sold and sold who suck. I loved watching Michael perform, but frankly, the music on it's own did very little for me and I certainly don't see it as ground breaking or all that innovative. His performance was absolutely those things. So, I see it differently than many on this thread I suppose. I'll call him the King of Performance.

I have to agree with you on this, Was he a big influance on the industry?..Yes but as far as his music no.He came along at a time when every thing was all the same, he chose to go to the left side of the road....never owned a cd of his, never will. Not that he dosent have a few song's I like, but not enough for me to spend money on him....jmo.

I would like to add one more... Prince. He can play any instrument and has written so many hits under alias its ridiculous. I think he said he's done with concerts, but if you never got to see him live you definitely missed out.

Prince and Frank Zappa are two of the most musically talented individuals I can think of...both played just about every instrument from A to Z.

I think we need to edit this, as we don't know if he died of a heart attack. Most likely didn't die of a heart attack, as it would have been apparent in the autopsy.
Just a little technical thing.

Everybody has their own opinion on the life of MJ and the talent he had....in this time of mourning...it is just good to think he is resting in peace!
I was never a fan and never liked the music.....but he made a lot of people happy along the way.......hopefully he never hurt anyone for bad intentions...that is something that people will always question about the guy

I agree Paco, Prince could be added to the list of greats. Reason most people wouldn't acknowledge it is because he was always odd. MJ became an odd individual later in his life (in the public eye at least). Prince could play every instrument, has written many songs for many popular artists from country to hip hop. He is extremely talented.

It just came out that he DIDN'T die of a heart attack at his home.
He died having a stroke at Toys R Us.

Classless. The man is dead. To whoever quoted Tupac "Only God can judge me now" earlier in this thread, I applaud you.

There are/were about 5 or 6 barely marginal monologue jokes that made the forward rounds minutes after his death...
I'm not one to tell people who should make jokes when and where...in fact, I'd oppose such actions...but have a little decorum and class...
...or at least be creative beyond basic late night TV monologue jokes.

This I don't believe at all.
And it doesn't make Michael Jackson any less or worse of a person than if she were 100% correct.

The guy probably charged him some insane amount of money for every hit, no different than a street dealer.
From all I've seen, Jackson never had any real concept of money.

So it's fine if they are a living politician, doctor, lawyer, executive, athlete, etc... but its not if they are a dead entertainer?

Are we talking about dead people? I make jokes all the time to degrade the living...it's just FUN to do. Lighten up a little, Turk. Some people deal with things in different ways. If laughter gets them through, so be it.

Nah, respect is here to stay. For those that earn it. Jackson earned respect as an entertainer. He earned much fame, and much wealth - as an entertainer. He deserves, and is getting, that respect in those regards. He was apparently a guy that spent much time and money helping others, and he deserves respect in that regard.
But, respect goes both ways. You can earn it. And you can lose it.

Amen....being a great entertainer is one thing. When the entertainer goes south and hurts people....respect goes out the window! MJ was loved by a lot of people for his musical talent, but we may never know how many people that he really hurt in major ways! Must have been reasons he could not sleep at night....hopefully he will rest in peace, but not so sure! I guess I am just too mean in his time of dying!

I can't tell you how many posts I've had typed up, ready to hit reply - and then decided "nah - it ain't worth it"
I'm sick of the coverage of him. I'm tired of seeing every doctor and nurse having their say about what they "knew was going to happen", etc etc etc. They are all just looking for cash, just as mj was. I won't, at this time, proceed with my thoughts.

Just watched his rehearsal on msnbc. It would have been an allright show, but at 50 he wasn't the same guy. I prefer to remember the younger entertainer than the old one that had to go on a world tour to make money.
I hope the revenue generated from his death is enough to take care of those kids.
