The second rounders are surprising me, as the 40th and 56th picks are already signed I believe, essentially slotting these guys already, no?

yes but it also depends what position the other 2nd rounder play. WR might expect to get more than a Olinemen or DLineman even being drafted behind them, dosent mean they will just means they might hold out longer trying to get more.

According to this site, picks 40, 41, 53, & 58 are the only ones signed from round 2. All New England and Phili. Site was supposedly updated today already.

I have a feeling we'll see the 2nd rounders fall very quickly very soon. The team is likely working very hard on getting Mack in right away. Robo and Massa were drafted pretty closely together and play the same position, so that will make things easier. DV and the team have already exchanged some contract proposals, so I have a feeling they're just working toward some middle ground now.
I'd rather they all be in today, but if we can get them all in by the time the full camp starts, I'll be happy.

Maiava was the Browns' fourth round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. Maiava missed just one game during his four-year career at USC (2005-08). He was a second-team All-Pac 10 selection as a senior when he notched 66 tackles, eight stops for loss and an interception. For his career he amassed 164 tackles, 15.5 stops for loss and two interceptions.

While the parameters of a deal are believed to be settled, details and language in the contract still need to be ironed out. One league source said that guaranteed money could be the biggest hangup. Mack arrived in Cleveland this afternoon. He cannot join the team's rookie camp until his contract is signed. Negotiations with second-round picks Brian Robiskie, Mohamed Massaquoi and David Veikune have not produced any positive movement, sources said. After an unexpected delay once Browns first-round pick Alex Mack showed up Friday with a deal supposedly in place, a league source tells us that Mack has finally agreed to terms.
The problem, we're told, is that the Browns' have a new contract negotiator, which created confusion as to some of the terms and wording.
Per the source, Mack will receive guaranteed money (including the option bonus) of $12.2 million. The increase over the contract given to last year's 21st overall pick is roughly 7.5 percent, when comparing the core deals.
So it's three down, 29 to go in round one.

Good to see- just read this as well. Sounds like he came into town thinking the deal would be done, and wasn't. Maybe it sped it up, maybe it was already close. Regadless, he's inked! Now we need to get our WRs in- these guys, at least one of them, will be logging playing time. If not significantly.

Actually PFT initially got it wrong. It isn't $12.2 million guaranteed, but a 12.2 % increase over last year's 21st pick's guaranteed (OT Gosder Cherilus). This puts the guaranteed at about $9 million. And using the 7.5% increase overall, his actual contract value is $16 million.
And not to toot my own horn (ok, it is a little, but you can suck it up) that is exactly what I predicted to my dad and brother yesterday, on both accounts.
Guys, I have made my feelings on Mack known, but I will say it again. He will soon become a fan favorite behind JT. We will love him.

Great!!! A few years back, we had the worse Oline in the league. Thamks to Savage and now KoMan, we are building an Oline with talented young studs, who are not only good ball players, but smart also. I look next year for another piece to be taken in the draft.
As for this year, if Tucker can return at RG, and Foster can play to his abilities, this Oline could be dominant. Foster is the key. He has the tools, I just hope we have the coaching to motivate him to use them. If he were to play up to his abilities, things could be very good on the offensive side of the ball.

Good. We are set everywhere but the right side for the next few years. As you said though, if for some miracle Foster realizes his potential then we are looking at needing only Tucker replaced next year to have a really good OL for years to come. I'm just not betting on Foster, because you usually are what you are at this point......hope I'm wrong though.

To a degree yes but fans will actually ... and moan about the LB they could have taken, just like they ... and moan about the RB that could have been. They will leave out the part about mack being a great O Linemen and go right for we needed a LB not and O Line.
Let me say this too. I wanted Mack badly in this draft and I was jumping up and down when we took him. Gotta have a great O Line. The line is what makes or breaks the offense IMO.

Playing around a really good OL could be the motivation he needs. The lion's OL was terrible.
We're trying to throw the ball downfield and he checked the ball down to Trent Richardson and the Indians on the choice.

Until we traded back I never even thought of him.........but I'm very happy w/the pick. I thought maybe a guard second round, but ended up being excited w/oline in the first round. Supposedly Mack can play guard if needed. He makes the whole line better if he can beat out Hank. With him Stienny and Thomas our left side should be set for years.

I'm one who would draft a O-linemen in the first round every year for a few reasons. 1. Games are won & lost in the trenchs. 2. O-linemen for the most part arnt pretty boys and just wanna play so thier easier to get signed & in camp. We pay them fairly and they will sign. If your flat on your back, your not tackling my RB no matter who he might be, Give me a Trench Dawg anyday

Browns signed rookie WR Mohamed Massaquoi, the No. 50 overall pick, to a four-year contract with $1.863 million guaranteed.
Brian Robiskie's up next. Massaquoi was never overly productive in Georgia's balanced offense with Matt Stafford at QB, but possesses vertical ability and ideal size at 6'2/210. He'll back up Braylon Edwards at split end this season, then likely assume a starting gig if Edwards tests 2010 free agency.
