if schott gets fired....how frustrating....

mangini tries to get schott to be our OC, Jets owner says 'no dice'....we struggle the year with first timer OC Daboll (yes, that is Mangini's fault)....

then Schott gets fired? i mean, we could have at least have an experienced OC for the year.....

I would take him as an OC if he he quits or is fired. I see no reason why they need to pass so much, when you have the #1 rushing attack in the NFL and a rookie QB with almost no weapons to throw to. Edwards is flash in a pan player, Keller is a safety blanket and even then, I've seen him thrown to, but the ball never makes it there. I'm getting sick of Rex Ryan and his ego, he has done nothing as HC.

I absolutely agree with everything you say about the Jets. Rex Ryan talks a huge game, but in the end they need to focus on pounding the ball, playing smart defense (which they haven't done consistently throughout the season), and throwing intelligent passes. The rest works itself out. This is Brian Schottenheimer's fault though also (all the interceptions). But I will say that Mark Sanchez has been rediculously inconsistent this season and his play is a big factor in the game.

I was very impressed with Rex Ryan when he came to NY but that momentum he seemed to have coming in really slowed down. Browns might even beat the Jets at this point. Especially if we may be can throw the ball to go along with our rushing attack. Too bad they don't play

No doubt some of the blame is on Brian Schottenheimer, he has been unable to get to utilize Sanchez's strengths more often. But I place most of the blame on the decision making of the QB, rookie or not. With that running game, your going to have players open. He doesn't have to force the ball, he has a defense that can back him up if they have a failed drive. I don't think firing Brian would help them with developing Sanchez, young QBs don't fair too well when they have multiple new OCs in as many years.

Holmgren will bring in people who know what system he wants to run so he can not lose time teaching his coaches, that means all coaches will go, except special teams coach

I believe Jon Gruden will be the man at the helm. Chance to coach the team you worshiped growing up may just be to good for him to pass up.

Jim Zorn QB coach

Stump Mitchell RB coach

Rod Marinelli would be a serious candidate for DC possibly Dick Jauron

OC will have to think about it

I wish you were right, but Gruden told Tony Grossi he wouldn't coach for 2 years.

From today's "Hey Tony" column in the Sunday Plain Dealer:

Hey, Tony: Do you think Mike Holmgren would consider Jon Gruden to be head coach? I know that Gruden started on Holmgren's staff in Green Bay. -- Jason Orth, Norwalk, Ohio

Hey, Jason: Gruden told me last month that he would not coach in the NFL for at least another two years. I believe him.

I wouldnt eliminate Gruden just yet but if Gruden is serious about taking a break, Mooch is the first guy that comes to mind. He and Holmgren remain super tight.

I'm okay with either as HC, but I'd really like Gruden as HC, Mooch as OC.

I'd love Gruden. But I've read in several places online that the first year of his new contract with ESPN is iron clad. He cannot break it for any reason.

Get fired out of it...start slapping executives in the face when you see them.

Multiple times if necessary.

If Gruden asked to be let out of his contract, it would happen quickly. All these networks have had a lot of success with former coaches. They would not be able to pickup the next big coach to take a vacation from coaching if they kept a coach from accepting a head coaching position.

CBS, NFLN, Fox, NBC and ESPN are all competiting for these ratings booster coaches and that coaching fraternity would not be happy if they held someone out.

Still, a contract is a contract. And if there is some kind of "poison-pill" clause in Gruden's new contract regarding his first year then he's probably not going anywhere. Just saying.

My guess is that he would be able to get out of it up until a certain date, but after that it would be ironclad. This would give him the opportunity to catch on, but it keeps them from having to scramble to find a replacement for him too late in the process. Of course, they could always just give Dennis Miller a call.

The team wanting him would pay the price, but he can get out of it if he really wants out.

This isn't like a non-compete clause which is more enforceable.

If Gruden is a guy Holmgren wants, and Gruden wants to be here, he will be here.

If the job Gruden wanted was in broadcasting, ESPN would have a leg, but it isn't, so they don't.....though it could cost some money.

And if there is one thing Lerner has, it's enough money to pay Gruden or whoever Holmgren wants...
