Serious question: Would anyone be upset if the staff chose Dez Bryant?

IDK, but for this game he is ranked 6th so he is off the board at 7. He also is flagged for Off the Feild issues. Don't know what they are though.

As far as I know he talked to Deon Sanders and then lied about talking to him... I don't know that much ever came of it but the lying was an NCAA violation and he was suspended. If there is more to it than that, somebody please let me know.

Did two.
7 Joe Haden CB Florida 39 Terrence Cody DT Alabama 71 Mike Johnson OG Alabama 85 Nate Allen FS South Florida 110 Riley Cooper WR Florida
7 Rolando McClain LB Alabama 39 Bruce Campbell OT Maryland 71 Darrell Stuckey FS Kansas 85 Vince Oghobaase DT Duke 110 Graham Garrett TE Wisconsin
Although they have several juniors listed that have already stated they are returning to school, and others expected to return.
Statistics are like a bikini; what they show is interesting, but what they hide is vital. Drive for show (1st round), Putt for dough (rest of draft).

As what always happens..players like Iupati go much earlier than the postion suggests..players you would normally draft in the third get snatched up mid first..early second..

Berry/Iupati would be sweet. There is still hope, all he has to do is a rob a store or a get a DUI and theres a possibilty he slips...

I did two. One if we stay with the 34 and one if we switch the a 4-3
If we stay with the 34 Haden Campbell Shipley Burnett
If we switch to the 4-3 then DE becomes a huge need. Derrick Morgan Kareem Jackson Gabe Carimi Burnett

7-Carlos Dunlap DE Florida 39-Ryan Matthews RB Fresno State 71-Mike Johnson OG Alabama 85-Syd'Quan Thompson CB California 103-Danario Alexander WR Missouri
or:
7-Rolando McClain LB Alabama 39-Greg Romeus DE Pittsburgh 71-Darrell Stuckey FS Kansas 85-Kyle Hix OT Texas 103-Danario Alexander WR Missouri

Thanks for posting...i watched most of those games and was not impressed then and I guess this kind of confirms it. Here's my thoughts on him:
The Good (1) Great anticipation skills (2) Good speed (3) Fluid hips and can cover
The bad (1) Once he gets blocked/engaged he gives up pretty easily, doesn't seem overly physical (2) Tackles high (3) Not a great blitzer
Definately don't think he is top 10 material....

I didn't see what you saw at all to be honest. He did tackle high on occasion, but I think it mostly just seemed that way because he's so tall. I thought he did a great job of getting off blocks and making the tackle in most cases.
And this is part of the reason I hate highlight videos. There's such a small sampling. A biased person putting together the video will completely change opinions on a player.

I saw a player who:
-Gives up on the pass rush immediately after being engaged by an OL -Plays high and displays awkward change of direction -Has a killer instinct when he can make the play -Inconsistent motor -Occasionally takes bad angles, ends up jogging to the play -Big hitter
In the end, I think he's the next in line of hyped ILBs who falls on draft day.

I've watched almost every Alabama game dating back to last season. McClain is the real deal, shows up and makes plays in every game.

I'm not sure about my opinion on him, but I'll take your word for it. What I do like is that he's not the super-ultra-athletic-LB-who-gets-by-on-sheer-talent-then-disappears-in-his-sophomore-season type. I keep reading about his constant film watching, and being a student of the game.
That's an incredibly important trait to me when judging players'.

The proof is in the pudding; if the play gets away from him, he doesn't hustle.
Too many times you see him jogging to outside runs or, when blitzing, running full-height into a guard only to be frozen at the line.
Granted, when the ability to make the big play crosses his face, he makes it happen. Some deficiencies might be hid in the 3-4, but I'm not looking to hide too many deficiencies with our pick @7.

I don't see that at all. I saw him making plays from the complete opposite side of the field.

One edge guy that does that constantly is Selvie. I cannot understand how much he's being overlooked in this draft. He may not have a LB's ideal body, but he's a very good pass rusher and makes plays behind the line of scrimmage when the come to his side of the field and stops plays on the other side of the field as well.

I've watched each video again, and here's what I've got:
From the first-
-His hustle isn't as hot and cold as I initially thought. Made a nice play on sweep against Florida, where he booked it to the sideline.
-He tackles with his upper body. Whiffs far to often, I didn't see a single clean tackle where he fit up, put his helmet in the numbers, and drove the ballcarrier back.
-He's a highlight reel linebacker; makes the flashy plays, seldom makes the tough ones. Ole Miss section is a good example, one play he blows up the running back and drives him back five yards, the other he overpursues, gets out of position and tries to tackle with his arms--rb blows right past him.
-Plays on his heels, often giving ground.
-Can be handled by one lineman.
From the second-
-There's no way to sugarcoat it, the guy absolutely cannot rush the passer. Some of the blitzes where he got to shoot a gap untouched were nice, but he's out as soon as somebody gets their hands on him.
-For as big as he is, he should be blowing up RB's in pass protection--he isn't.
-In the latter portion of this video, he takes himself out of some plays with bad angles and lack of hustle. Ole Miss sweep left @ 4:00, Florida option right @ 5:00, and the last play--Tebow up the gut--are all good examples.
I guess, for me, it boils down to a lack of tenacity. You get the sense that, despite his reputation, Rolando McClain's the guy opposing coaches mention to their team as the one who "isn't as tough as you've heard. Hit him in the mouth and he'll give up."

The issue I see/heard of with Selvie is that if he gets blocked, he is completely taken out of the game. Is also known to be soft, sort of like a michael johhson from last years draft.
