How weird would that trade between the Seahawks and patriots wind up working out if the Seahawks claimed Moss. Patriots get: Deion Branch Seahawks get: Randy Moss and a 4th round pick.

Mangini's got this team playing like a "team"... I just don't know if it's been cultivated enough to bring him in.
It's possible though that If they sat him down and explained the rest of the season to him. And that we're in an advantageous position to make the playoffs with him if he takes on the Number 1 receiver role... he might go ahead and produce.
I'd be cautious... But it could be fun.

If our recievers wern't the worst recieving unit in the history of the NFL I'd say pass on this guy.
As it stands, we need his ability in a ridiculous way. Interview the guy. Tell him what you expect and what he should expect.
I think Mangini (who is very Belichickian) would actually appeal to Moss, if you can believe that. I'd say his time at NE was a total success. Why couldn't it happen here, as well?
The one thing we can say is that we really don't have many egos on this team. He would be the only one and maybe that could work for him.
Sign him, I say.

and that just put the Seahawks up to my #1 team of what I hope happens with Moss.
1. Seahawks - for the reason Ytown stated + Carroll/Moss experiment 2. TB - Freeman to Moss could be special. Mike Williams + Blount + Winslow + young HC could be spectacular to watch. 3. Detroit - Calvin and Randy. Randy and Calvin. And don't forget Burleson at slot. Pettigrew at TE and Best at RB. Stafford would be giddy. 4. St. Louis - could another WR go on IR for Bradford? 5. Oakland - cmon, it would be hilarious if they put a claim in and just made him suffer for what he did to them.

I think we'll try.....meaning, call his agent and ask them what is Moss' interest in trying to help the Browns. If they tell us to not bother because he won't report, then we won't touch him.
Heck, I'd probably do the same thing too. I'd tell all the non-contending teams to keep your hands off that waiver wire. I'd either sit out or retire before playing on a terrible winless Buffalo team (at this point in Randy's career).
He may clear waivers though. Paying his contract this and next year aren't cheap. So he may get to pick the team he goes to.....I'm guessing the Dolphins, Texans, or the Redskins. They're near or just above .500, they need more weapons, and their owners will write the check.

Again i call BS on anyone who tries to belittle Randy Moss's Character...I also question anyone who says Randy Dogged it in Oakland..he may have the last few games..but not the whole time. Here is what Rob Ryan just said today about Randy Moss: Quote:
BEREA —
It seems a long-shot that Randy Moss would wind up with a chemistry-conscious Browns team after wearing out his welcome in New England and Minnesota within the last month.
Moss, though, may be out there, and strong voices within the Browns might argue to get him.
According to ESPN, Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress told players the 33-year-old wide receiver was finished with the team.
The Vikings acquired Moss last month by sending the Patriots a third-round draft pick. After losing to the Patriots on Sunday, Moss called New England’s Bill Belichick the best coach in NFL history, perhaps chafing Childress.
If Moss and Minnesota part ways, Moss could wind up in the New England-at-Cleveland game on either side.
The Browns have no one resembling a No. 1 wide receiver. If Moss doesn’t land in Cleveland, his eventual destination is Ohio. His 14,778 career receiving yards and 153 TDs make him a cinch for Canton.
Moss was a beast in 2007, when his offensive coordinator in New England was Josh McDaniels. He caught 98 passes for 1,493 yards and 23 touchdowns on a team that went 18-1, losing only in the Super Bowl. In 2005 and 2006, Moss played in Oakland, where the defensive coordinator was Rob Ryan.
Asked last month about Moss, Ryan said:
“I tell you what, I was there with Randy Moss in Oakland, and he was fantastic. He was a great competitor ... he was tremendous. “
The question came up because Ryan was preparing for Cincinnati wideout Terrell Owens.
“I can’t speak for (Owens), but nobody worked harder than Randy Moss,” Ryan said. “That was always amazing to me about how he was covered. I don’t know if he was talking to the media or not.
“Man, I saw a guy that has unbelievable work ethic, a super competitor, still a great athlete ... and then he went on to New England and went on to shock the world by being great. “He never shocked me. I think in Oakland, we actually might have had more problems with the guy throwing him the ball. That might have been the biggest problem.”
http://www.cantonrep.com/browns/x2115309811/Moss-a-Brown-Ryan-s-hope
So Rob Ryan says NOBODY worked harder then Randy Moss did in Oakland, No one was such a good guy in the lockeroom and a great competitor then Randy was
So are you all going to call Rob Ryan a liar?
All this stuff folks are saying about Moss being a cancer, bad for the team ,etc is making all those who say that look foolish. Either Rob Ryan is a liar or folks don't know what they talking about..i'll take Ryan's word....
I think Moss would be good for this team...we need a little swagger and confidence and Moss could bring that.
all this nonsense about Moss being a cancer and lockerroom problem are unfounded and Rob Ryan has said so himself..who you going to believe? Rob Ryan or some fan message board? take your pick..im going with Ryan's Word..

and anyone with eyes could see he quit on his team out there on the field for Oakland. blatantly.

One again, Randy Moss is poison. Quote:
As is the team’s custom on Fridays, a local food establishment was invited to the training facility to serve a catered, post-practice meal in the locker room. In this case, a St. Paul restaurant that is a favorite of former Vikings center Matt Birk(notes). As the proprietors helped serve chicken, ribs, pasta and other dishes to Vikings players, Moss paced up and down the serving line and loudly expressed his displeasure with the offerings.
According to one player who witnessed the scene, Moss yelled, “What the [expletive]? Who ordered this crap? I wouldn’t feed this to my dog!”
Said the witness: “It was brutal. The truth is, he deserved to be cut after that. It was such an uncomfortable moment. You know that feeling where you just can tell someone feels so small? That’s what it was like being there.
“This wasn’t a chain – it was a mom-and-pop restaurant, and you could tell it was their best stuff. They had a special carving station set up, and there were players and other support staff lining up to eat it. And [Moss] is at his locker saying, ‘You know, I used to have to eat that crap – but now I’ve got money.’ You just felt so sad for them. I had never seen anyone treated like that.
“And by the way, the food was actually really good.”
While Moss had his share of supporters in the locker room, some Vikings had grown disillusioned with his attitude. From the receiver’s uneven effort in practice to his displays of self-centeredness off the field, some veterans believed Moss was becoming a bad influence to young players like second-year wideout Percy Harvin.

Weren't there some issues with him involving traffic accidents or maybe one traffic accident when he was with the Vikes the first time?
Maybe, just maybe Ryan is talking him up because we have our sights set on him? Just wondering., But the kid has had problems.. Throw the BS flag all you want,, there isn't any denying he's had issues in the past.
Having said that, we are in a win win situation,, I'd still bring him in if possible.

If we were one great WR away from a potential deep playoff run I would have to think about it before I said..
No way in hell.
As it stands now I don't even have to think about it.

Shawne Merriman set to join Randy Moss on waiver wire
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on November 2, 2010 11:38 AM ET The 2005 Defensive Rookie of the Year looks set to join a future Hall of Fame wide receiver on Tuesday's NFL waiver wire. (Now there's a sentence I didn't ever expect to write.)
Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman is taking a physical with the team today. If he passes before 4 p.m. ET, Merriman will be waived and be available for all 32 teams to claim. Just like Randy Moss.
Merriman has been idling on the team's injured reserve list with a "minor-injury designation," which means the team has to release him once he's healthy. He's been recovering from a calf injury and was only able to play three games this season, making five tackles.
Like Moss, we expect a team to put a claim on Merriman. San Francisco, who just picked up Thaddeus Gibson from the Steelers off waivers, has previously been mentioned as a possibility.
Any team that picks up Merriman will owe him the remainder of his prorated $3.269 million salary.
Go Browns!!!

Merriman is a guy I would put in a claim on.
No history of being an idiot (off the field). Great player for awhile (even after the steroid use). Needs to comeback and play hard to earn a contract. And he probably has a huge chip on his shoulder.
I'd claim him, then have some HGH mysteriously show up in his locker.

Someone should do Merriman's "Lights Out" dance over Merriman's career. It's over.
He was only good as a juiced, roided out freak. Now that he's off the stuff, he's a waste of a roster spot.
Good riddance.
I will look back fondly on that one playoff loss in San Diego a few years back. The opposing team was doing the Merriman dance + the LT tear drop. And LT got upset that they were using their own dances to show them up. Here's a suggestion....Win, so the other team can't do any kind of dance on your home field OR don't create a signature dance that you use enough that people eventually want to stuff it back down your own throat.

Not true at all. His torn up knee is why is no longer plays to that caliber. He was suspended the 1st four games of 2006 for steroid use. So his only full "steroid season" was 2005 (his rookie year). In 2006, after is 4 game steroid suspension, he had 17 sacks. In 2007, a full year after being suspended for steroids, he had 12.5 sacks.
He then was an idiot and didn't have surgery on his torn up knee and tried to practice and play on it. That's when the decline came.
He's still only 26 years old and plays a position that we need. And he's not a head case.

I think the Texans should get him and play him next to Cushing, their linebacking corp would be all the rage.

There were no charges against Merriman in that case. Not because Tila Tequila didn't want to press charges, but because there was no evidence showing any type of physical violence.

Technically, because of his Injured Reserve status, they MUST release him if he passes a physical. They don't really have a choice in the matter.
That said, I don't think they are too heartbroken over it.

For what it's worth, the Chargers were #1 in both offense and defense going into last weekend ...... it's been (ta-da!) special teams breakdowns and stupid mistakes that have cost them.

Which should be an indicator to us Bowns fans about how valuable he actually is.
Moss... TO.... Merriman.... the list goes on. Every time someone like this pops up, a number of Browns fans jump on the "we gotta get this guy!" wagon.
I understand the frustration of not seeing a winner in a long time, but are we really so desperate that we can't give H&H the opportunity to field a good product the right way? Butch Davis loaded us up with a bunch of high-priced vets, and we had to purge them after our ONLY one & done playoff "run." Back to square one. Phil did the same- and put us in caphell. Back to square one. again. [sigh]
I for one, don't want ANY guys like these anywhere near 76 Groza. I trust H&H to find more guys like Roth and Hillis in the future... and we'll be the better for it if we let them build this team without drama queens, players who "play only when they want," and cheaters who juice themselves to compete.
This ain't Madden- it's Real Life... and the kinds of people we hire make a difference- for better OR worse. You don't just "plug & play" a bunch of stats, and win the Super Bowl.
Can't we- just once, for chitz n' giggles- try something else? It might result in a long-term story of success, instead of the one-act tragedies we keep reliving....

I won't say "No way" ... but I think that it is highly, highly unlikely we would look at this guy.
Absolutely Un Freaking Beleivable
This is why the Browns haven't won ANYTHING in 15 years!
OH! I don't know, He is only one of the top two wide receivers in the entire NFL since HIS ROOKIE YEAR!
No way the Browns would want a player who might cause them to WIN. Unbelievable!
C'mon. Really?
There are at least 100 other reasons why the Browns haven't won in 15 years. That's crazy talk.
Crazy talk? Hello, Football Fan, Fan short for Fanatic, Fanatic-Crazy
100 reasons why? How about if they signed him, it might be 1 reason why they MIGHT WIN
Why doesn't anyone want to see this team Win? Why doesn't anyone seem to care about the freaking Cleveland Browns anymore?
Lets take a look? Are the Browns 5-2, and and and he's gonna ruin this team ? NO! The Browns are 2-5 with NOTHING AT WIDE RECEIVER Momass, Robiskie, together on pace to have 25 or less receptions by Years end? Look at it this way?
Hey the Browns just signed Randy Moss, I gotta get more tickets.
Hey the Browns just passed on Randy Moss, I better find something else to do on Sundays
Look at it this way, THE BROWNS DON'T NEED RANDY MOSS, BECAUSE THEY HAVE ALREADY ADRESSED THE LACK OF PRODUCTION AT WIDEOUT BY SO MANY OTHER MOVES THAT THEY HAVE MADE, including
DOING ABSO- FREAKING- LOUTELY NOTHING TO IMPROVE AT WIDE RECEIVER IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

You do realize that 2 teams have gotten rid of him in the last 5 weeks, right? Not many players can lay claim to that - in the history of the nfl.
Moss is about "me me me". He has proven that. He dogs it on plays - even plays he's supposed to be involved in.
Like Mangini or not - like the team or not - we've gotten rid of "me me me" players and replaced them with "hustle" players. I like that.
Get Moss, he may come in and be good for a game, maybe 4. But he'll cause problems. And then he'll dog it.
We don't need that. Here's a newsflash: We aren't going to the super bowl this year. Not even playoffs. Why bring in a prima donna now? Let's get class players next year.
Class beats ego any day. Let sincy get him. Or the cowboys, or the bills. Or anyone.
I haven't seen, has he been picked up yet? Whoever gets him will get 2 to 6 weeks of effort - then he'll quit on them. Guarantee it.

thats a defeatist attitude right there..always expect playoffs until eliminated...
Moss could be that one piece that breaks everything open for us...Moss could lead to us ripping off a string of wins and upsets and getting us into the playoffs with a "chance" at a trophy
I'll take the chance...its an 11 game rental...he just may be the keg we need to really get this O going and maybe get us into the AFC Divisional Playoffs.....where anything can and does usually happen

Randy Moss is a player who is in a contract year. He should be on his best behavior trying to earn his last big contract. Instead he has been a malcontent on two talented teams leading to him being traded and cut.
We have no business bringing in Moss. Holmgren pretty much said this during his press conference.

Not really. Childress cut Moss because he got butthurt about Randy's post-game comments about the Pats and Belichick. Childress is also widely regarded as being a total moron of a coach.

I think he's only saying high-level.....two teams have said "good-bye" to him for whatever reason. Meaning, there's something wrong with the guy (no attempt to define here, has been well documented).
“...Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala, up for the layup! Oh! Blocked by James! LeBron James with the rejection!”

Moss could be that one piece that breaks everything open for us...Moss could lead to us ripping off a string of wins and upsets and getting us into the playoffs with a "chance" at a trophy
He could also be the one piece that tears apart the fabric of a young team that appears to be coming together and playing better football based on hustle, a pounding ground game, a solid defense, and no frills...
