This will be more of a pay off next year.
Their 1st, 2nd and 4th this year, and their 1st and 4th next year.
Let's go for 0-16 next year dirty birds!

The only concern I have is that there damn well better be a draft next year!
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Very, very good point. If there is no draft, and there is a decent chance at that, we got screwed! HARD!

Like the trade.
It also give us ammo to move back up in this draft, in round 1 or any others.
Statistics are like a bikini; what they show is interesting, but what they hide is vital. Drive for show (1st round), Putt for dough (rest of draft).

I keep hearing this and that about a draft next year........
Do you think for one second that Holmgren and Heckert would trade for a first next year if they weren't fairly positive there will be a draft next year?

My question is can we package our second round pick this year and the Falcons first round pick next year to move up to the Patriots 17? *edit* That would probably be a dumb idea actually. My brain turns to mush when the draft rolls around.

Maybe.....but the players union will be pushing for that. And so far, the courts have been backing the players.
I would think they know more than we do.
ALDON SMITH? I guess.

Why would we do that?
That would mean that we would have given up #6, our #2, and the #1 we traded for, for a lower 1st a lower 2nd, a 4th, and a 4th next year.

Pats have 1st pick in 2nd & are looking to pad picks for next year...I feel they can be had in a trade up scenario for 1 of their 1st. They only have 5 picks next year! Go Brownies!!!

I'm sure we could.
I've always wanted to setup our picks like the Pats.....stockpile them and keep adding, and adding, and adding......not trading up and going back to stock.
As long as there's a draft next year, I say stay pat and just collect players.

all i gotta say is THANK GOD WE TRADED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I knew Heckert had more sense then to use that #6 on a darn corner or a WR....we robbed the Falcons blind with this! we took them to the woodshed!
this will allow us to fix the right side of our OL and get some decent DL and LB in here so we can do something this year.....also don't be suprised if we grab a WR in rd 2 or 3
this could turn out to be a great draft!
great move by Heckert! great move!

I agree ... I feel like this was a 5 player draft, and the three players we really could of used went 3, 4, 5. At that point, I wanted to trade down, and we did it ... getting a pretty good deal in the process.

My guess....stocking up for....
Andrew Luck
If Colt fails, Browns are in top 10 and I don't think Falcons will repeat their success of last year, probably still finish 9-7 or 10-6 and will be mid 20's pick. If one of the teams that drafted a QB still lands at #1, I bet we trade up
If Colt is good, then Justin Blackmon and some defense
Now, what do we do at #27? My guess is OT Derek Sherrod, Gabe Carimi or DE/DT like Clayborn, Houston, Austin, Reed
I'm coming home, I'm coming home, tell the world I'm coming home

I too like the trade.
Three picks this year and two more next year.
We keep a first rounder this year, pick up a 2nd rounder and a 4th rounder this year and then get another first rounder and a fourth rounder next year.
I like the fact that we got 5 picks. With the way that the Browns FO has shown it can draft, I like the value of that draft.
Only drawback is that I'm going to have to stay up and not get as much sleep that I hoped to get tonight.
