This is a repeat of last year.
Last year we were really quiet until after the signings were anounced, then "suddenly" we had 8 or 9 guys signed.

also, even more than most years, these guys are likely camp fodder. they took away 2-a-days, they took away some of the padded practices, and we are implementing a new offense and a new defense.
less practices + more to learn in less time = extreme focus on getting repetitions to the guys we 'know' will make the team

I dont expect any undrafted FA to stick, as our talent improves it's gonna get harder & harder for these undrafted layers to stick....Thats what we what right, improved starters & back-ups, we dont want undrafted FA walking off the streets & starting for us, Would make a good movie but so would us winning the Super Bowl,
We sign these guys to be bodies in training camps, players fill postions during teaching reps....We sign them on hope of finding something, we often do, they also hang around on the inactive squad so yes it's good to sign a few to take the load of summer work off your starters, and it helps these kids freash out of college get some money in their pockets.

Tennessee State outside linebacker Sidney Tarver had a strong Pro Day workout as he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.65 to 4.68 seconds, according to an NFL source who attended the workout. The 6-foot-3, 236-pounder registered a 32-inch vertical leap, a 10-6 broad jump and bench pressed 225 pounds 23 times. Tarver, who has an 81 7/8 wingspan and 10 1/8 hands, worked out in chilly, wet conditions. NFL teams attending the workout included the Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears, New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Oakland Raiders, Tennessee Titans, San Diego Chargers, Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers and the Denver Broncos. Tarver had a 4.24 20-yard shuttle, a 7.30 L-drill and an 11.7 60-yard shuttle, excelling in his linebacker drills. Last season, he started every game and had 62 tackles, 7 1/2 for losses, 3 1/2 sacks, a pass deflection and two quarterback hurrries. Sounds like a nice player with low risk and a decent upside. In typical Browns fan form, I will keep my expectations low and assume he will only be as good as DeMarcus Ware.

Sanzenbacher might not have the measurables NFL teams covet, but most of them wanted the player voted Ohio State's Most Valuable Player on their team. In the end, the list was whittled down to the Cleveland Browns and Chicago Bears, and Sanzenbacher picked the Bears. "We got texts and calls through the night -- 1, 2, 3 in the morning," said Joe Flanagan, Sanzenbacher's agent. "I've never seen a more aggressive and heartfelt emotional sales process and pitches from NFL coaches on an undrafted person. We had a lot of choices he had to narrow down based on depth chart and scheme." Flanagan would not disclose Sanzenbacher's signing bonus but said that other teams offered considerably more than the Bears. But Chicago's lack of depth at receiver and offensive coordinator Mike Martz's history of success with receivers of Sanzenbacher's type proved decisive. Several other former Ohio State players also agreed to free-agent contracts. Normally, these are done right after the NFL draft. But the lockout kept everything in limbo until today. That comment is very confusing. It implies the Browns have more depth than the Bears. I'm not sure I buy that at all. In fact, I'd sell it on eBay for a $1 buy-it-now.

With the addition of little, and experience of mo, robo, and cribbs.. Dane wouldn't get much playing time.

Williams signed a five-year, $45 million contract with $20 million guaranteed with the Cowboys, but he managed just 1,324 receiving yards in 40 games in Dallas. Figured this should go here: CINCINNATI (AP) -- Bengals owner Mike Brown insisted on Tuesday that he won't trade quarterback Carson Palmer, who wants to leave one of the NFL's least-successful franchises. Palmer, who has four years left on his contract, told the team in January that he would retire if he's not traded. The Bengals have only two winning seasons in the last 20 years, one of the worst stretches of futility in league history. Brown said the club will move on without its franchise quarterback. The Bengals plan to hold their first training camp workout Saturday in Georgetown, Ky. "I honestly like Carson Palmer," Brown said. "He was a splendid player for us. He's a good person. I wish him well. And he is retired. That is his choice. ... I'm not expecting him to be back." Asked why he wouldn't trade Palmer and get some draft picks in return, Brown said it was a matter of principle. "Carson signed a contract. He made a commitment. He gave his word," Brown said. "We relied on his word. We relied on his commitment. We expected him to perform here. He's going to walk away from his commitment. We aren't going to reward him for doing it." Brown has traditionally taken a hard line on players trying to leave. Receiver Chad Ochocinco unsuccessfully lobbied for a trade three years ago, but Brown refused. Ochocinco has one year left on his deal, but is hoping to be released in the next few weeks. Brown and coach Marvin Lewis declined to say anything about Ochocinco on Tuesday other than that he's under contract. The Bengals picked receiver A.J. Green in the first round of the draft, giving themselves his eventual replacement. The Bengals drafted Andy Dalton in the second round last April. Brown indicated on Tuesday that he'll be the starter heading into camp, even though he hasn't been able to work with coaches because of the NFL's lockout. Jordan Palmer -- Carson's younger brother -- is the only experienced quarterback on the roster. Brown said the team will look for another veteran, but will give Dalton a chance to win the job. "We think he is promising for our future," Brown said. "Yes, he'll have teething problems. It won't be altogether easy for him all the time. But we're going to put him in there. If he can do it, we're going to go with him. And I hope he can manage it." The Bengals are coming off a 4-12 season that included 10 straight losses. Carson Palmer told the team he wouldn't be back after Lewis decided to return even though Brown promised no significant changes in how the organization is run. The Bengals originally planned to have players report at Georgetown College -- a 90-mile drive south of Cincinnati -- on Wednesday and have their first practice a day later. I can't agree with Mike Brown at all but I'd meet him half way if the Bengals never cut an underperforming player before their contract reached the end. I quite sure they have cut players....so why is he all of a sudden playing the "commitment card" as if it was one fo the ten commandments?
I'm sure they could get a 3rd rounder for Carson.....jeez, talk about stupid. I guess Chad Johnson will be sticking around no matter what....even if the team and him don't want each other. What a horrible mess down there.

So Brown will be OK with Carson riding the pines and sending Tweets from the sidelines because he can't be bothered to get ready to play? And of course this will be taking place while the Bengals are losing. I would imagine the fans would be a bit upset. They should get rid of him ASAP. Of course seeing as how it's Mike Brown we're talking about that probably won't happen.

+1 - I don't care where he goes, as long as it's not within the AFC North (well, unless it was with us).
There are some new rumors about Baltimore clearing even more cap space than the cuts from yesterday....all to get Nnamdi (never knew his nickname was scrabbles).

I don't think you ever get to that point fully though. I mean, I'd bet Steeler fans don't want to see Baltimore get him either (he'd likely matchup/shutdown Mike Wallace) and they have owned the Ravens recently.

Jonathan Tamari of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the team won’t pursue linebacker Stewart Bradley. Or safety Quintin Mikell. Or punter Sav Rocca. Or running back Jerome Harrison. Others that will get ignored: cornerback Dimitri Patterson, center Nick Cole and guard Max Jean-Gilles.
Bradley and Harrison are probably the biggest surprises on that list. Harrison produced well as LeSean McCoy’s backup, but the team drafted a running back and will look elsewhere in free agency. Bradley was a team leader for a while, but won’t merit an offer.
We know the Eagles are gearing up to make big moves in free agency. They needed to clear the decks, and they did so by letting go of their entire free agent class.

It makes me think of two quick things:
A. Which one(s) will be Browns by this weekend.
B. For those who were such huge Jerome Harrison supporters ... is he a problem that they don't want him back? Does he want to be paid more? Or is he just not that good?

Well this much I know is true and that is no team can sign their FA yet, but if that is true then more power to them, because that's a lot of money for a QB let alone a DE.
