Ahhh, St.Clair. How could I forget? Oh wait thanks for filling in my brain gap.
As for Pinkston on the left, I read in the draft mags and heard from the talking heads that he had short arms for LT, and was better suited to RT or better yet guard. But technically your correct, he could probably fill in.

A rotational DT who will see a lot of action for a 5th, and a back up OL who we will give nothing up for if our OL stays healthy. Nice deal right there. And if he does end up starting, we give up a 7th for a starter.

My question is, where is the help we need now? Starting CB, DL, WR, FS?
I'll take FS and assume Young goes there. Where is the vet DL? Where is the #1 WR? Where is the #2 CB?(or #3)
My problem is, IMHO, we haven't done enough to help now.
If the games started tomorrow could you find a 53 man roster that you would be confident could have a winning season? or a roster that improve upon 5-11?

We've got 5 or so weeks before the season starts, do you really think Heckert is done adding and subtracting from the roster.
Let them look over what they have before worrying about what then need.

I know you weren't asking me, but I'd jump at him without hesitating. He would be a pretty decent player in our scheme at worst, and pretty damn good at best.

Greco trade and Overhauling Rams front by Mike Sando
Some around here thought John Greco was more than ready to assume a starting role on the St. Louis Rams' offensive line.
"John Greco is much better than anyone realizes and will be a starting-caliber guard if they give him a chance," Matt Williamson of Scouts Inc. said during a May discussion. "They should be excited about him. He doesn't have a discernible trait where he is a real masher or a wonderful technician or a great athlete, but he is good at all of the above and he really has a nasty streak to him. He is somebody to keep an eye on."
I don't think the Rams saw that nasty streak.
After landing Harvey Dahl in free agency and finding a way to keep Jacob Bell amid salary concerns, the team traded Greco to the Cleveland Browns. Adam Goldberg, the starting right guard in 2010, could still return in a backup role. But with Dahl in and Greco out, the line has undergone a massive overhaul since Steve Spagnuolo's arrival as head coach for the 2009 season.
Orlando Pace, Goldberg, Brett Romberg, Greco and Alex Barron were the starters in the final game before Spagnuolo's hiring. Cory Withrow and Roy Schuening were backups in that game. Bell, Richie Incognito and Anthony Davis were listed among inactive players. Bell is the only one of those 10 players still with the team.
The projected starting five this season -- Rodger Saffold, Bell, Jason Brown, Dahl and Jason Smith -- each started all 16 regular-season games last season (Dahl was with Atlanta).

I was just asking in general, not to anyone specific. I feel the same and with Holmgren being his former coach, I'd wager we should have a legit chance at signing him, if his release were to come to fruition.
Quote: You can tell people are frustrated if not desperate when they start talking about bringing Edwards back.
Even if we wanted him back, he wouldn't want to come here again.
I think the bridges were crossed on that one, never to be revisited.
As frustrated as I feel Ballpeen I agree it is suicidal to bring back Edwards. He burned his bridges with a vengeance and if I recall he also blamed the fans for his lack of popularity or maybe acclaim, I am not sure but because he was a Michigan wr? His lousy hands had NOTHING to do with it. Now this is filed under desperation.
Cleveland Browns acquire Ohio native John Greco from St. Louis By Tony Grossi, The Plain Dealer The Plain Dealer
BEREA -- The Browns swung a second trade late Saturday, acquiring St. Louis Rams guard John Greco, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Greco, a native of Youngstown who played at University of Toledo, was a third-round pick of the Rams in 2008. He had four starts in three years. He played mostly at right guard.
Greco reunites wih Browns coach Pat Shurmur, who was the Rams offensive coordinator the past two years. Greco became available when the Rams signed free agent guard Harvey Dahl this week.
The Browns sought a guard after two developments on Saturday. First, it was disclosed that starting left guard Eric Steinbach suffered a knee injury in the offseason and he was placed on the non-football injury list. The Browns say the injury is not serious, but Steinbach stood and watched practice Saturday with a brace on his left knee.
By the end of the day, free agent Floyd Womack, who started at guard and tackle last year for the Browns, signed with the Arizona Cardinals.
Terms of the trade are not known. Earlier, the Browns traded a fifth-round pick next year for Philadelphia defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley.
Apparently we can no longer even talk about trade talks. Maybe we can actually talk about trades?
So the Rams acquire a mauler at Guard in Harvey Dahl and Greco , who started 6 games for the oline challenged Rams becomes expendable.. another body for the oline.
Let's be realistic. The conditional 7th rounder tells us the Rams were going to cut him,and it wasn'y for salary concerns. If this guy ends up starting for us,we're in deep doo-doo.

I agree- we need another CB and WR. But for what we got and what we gave up for those guys, I'm pretty happy.
We have so many guys to sort through right now at the WR position that adding another "2nd/3rd/4th option" type WR makes little sense at all.
I can see us adding another DE, LB, and CB. That's about it unless Heckert comes across a favorite on the trade market.

My feeling is if the QB plays better, the receivers will as well.
this.
Colt's accuracy will be key to how successful our WR's will be. He's gonna have to show the world that he has what it takes to be a starter in this league. And doing that in Cleveland hasn't been done in a very long time.
Quote: I agree. WR is pretty low at this point. Who are we going to sign that is that much better?? Nobody. My feeling is if the QB plays better, the receivers will as well.
Who will we sign that is that much better? Hell maybe you and me. We might be upgrades to a receiving corps of ....wait for it ...wait for it .... wait for it ...MoMass, Robo, Little, Carlton Mitchell ...yes THE Carlton Mitchell ...Cribbs.
Wait a minute after reviewing that list I feel much better. You're right were set.

You have my full agreement I was taking a moment for the orange kool ade drinkers to take a wee sip of optimism.
Quote: How well Colt plays will matter little if our WRs continue to be unable to get separation from defenders, as has been the case the past two years.
I totally agree with this post. Also if we get a RT who throws more than matador blocks.

It's not like we're running a completely different offense or anything...
...Oh Wait...
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?
I don't know about you guys, but there were plenty of options out there IMO that are much better than what we have. Massoquoi and Robiskie? Really??? Did they even combine for 50 catches?

My cousin was at practice this morning. Said Colt looked bad and the WRs couldn't get separation.

an offense that is more like the one Colt ran at Texas...
Running a new offense is not going to suddenly enable these guys to be able to do things they physically couldn't previously.
I get that some people think that this new offensive scheme is going to have MoMass and Robiskie catching perfectly thrown balls in stride and gaining tons of YAC. All I'm saying is don't be disappointed when CBs are still blanketing them with single coverage and Ben Watson again has as many yards as the two of them combined.
Taylor, Rubin, and Bunkley will be nice rotation..
I'm also intrigued by the UDFA signing of Andre Carroll out of Deleware St.. I watched a youtube clip of him and he is very quick off the snap. He's right at 300, so I don't know if he needs to bulk up or not, but I loved how he read plays, especially against the run.

I'm prepared for an ugly season anyway...we went upside happy in draft, took flyers on some small trades for former high picks and aren't pick spenders....hello, McFly? It's an ASSESSMENT year with new systems being implemented on both sides
I guess the homers will see the REAL McCoy this season...they always have to learn the hard way I'm pretty sure we have an upgraded version of Frye in him but let's see
