If you’re wondering about the plight of that other inexperienced passer on the Broncos’ roster – how far and fast he has fallen in the eyes of his bosses – consider that at least some people in the organization believe that Tim Tebow(notes) is the fourth-best quarterback on the roster.
As one highly knowledgeable member of the organization told me Monday, “If everything was totally equal, and this were a competition based only on performance at this camp, Tebow would probably be the fourth-string guy. Kyle [Orton] is far and away the best, and Tebow’s way behind [Brady] Quinn, too. And I’m telling you, Adam Weber is flat-out better right now.”
I think Tebow will not be an NFL QB but this is insane.

Losing out to Quin is one thing....but who is Adam Webster?
I guess we'll all just have to wait a little longer to see how Tebow redefines the QB position in the NFL. The bust they've prepared in Canton for the HOF and the blank spot they're clearing on Mount Rushmore will be ready regardless. So why rush perfection?
Man, I'm wondering what all the Tebow Followers will do with those jerseys.

i sort of disagree there. i think that if a coach was willing to put in a "tebow set" for him at QB just to give the defenses a change-up, then he could be effective in spurts (much like the wildcat offense can be). however, as a fulltime player, I agree and I also agree that he won't be able to transition to TE (I prefer the running joke of FB anyways as Peen hates FBs and loves Tebow )

i can see your point about tebow being a gimmick qb but, in my mind, if you wanted to do that, people can find players better suited to that too; usually because they have something going for them, most likely speed. i'd sooner want pryor as my gimmick than i would tebow, for example.
you're right that, if a coach tried really really hard, they can find a role for tebow but i guess my point is, all else being equal, i'm not so sure a coach would want to invest the time to actually find it.

I don't hate fullbacks. I just don't think they are necessary.
If you want blocking, get a real blocker back there.
If you want something else, get something other than a slow"ish" back who can't really run or catch.
As for Tebow, you guys can get your jollies, I've stated my opinion.

Tebow is a physical freak,, he'll be in the NFL.. as a QB or TE.. but he'll be in the NFL... all it takes is for someone to believe in him long enough.

that's not the only reason McDaniels got canned. Outside of the win streak when he first became coach, his record went down hill fast..
he got fired cause he didn't win.. Tebow was an afterthought...

Ignore the BS rumour that Tebow is on the trading block.
It's as simple as this - first round quarterback the new regime didn't draft is given his chance to impress in camp, his performances incredibly underwhelm, they're looking to move on. To be fair to Fox/Elway, they were looking to move Orton before camp began when it wasn't as clear to them what they had in both Orton and Tebow. After all it was Tebow who was organizing all the offseason training programs for the team, it was a logical step for them to give Tebow their chance and then reevaluate what they had at quarterback at season's end.

Tebow looked not very good in Denver's last game. He was great at escaping pressure then he'd make a bad throw.

trade him is what they may do, cut him is something I'm pretty sure they won't do.
But look at thier alternative to Orton if Tebow is gone... Quinn.. Now don't tell me that quinn has been playing well now.. as opposed to when he played for us.. The truth is, he had several times here when he looked like he finally got it,, But those times were short lived..
I have to believe that Elway is smart enough to know that history.

They didn't even let him in the game... I don't think Quinn is high on their priority list.
If I were the Broncos, I'd play with 6 OL every play and make Orton run laps every time he crosses the LOS.

Watching how the Broncos have handled their QB situation, reminds me of some the stuff that has occurred here in Cleveland, over the years. It looks like the Browns have passed the torch of incompetence...
Maybe it was media hype and fan expectations that contributed to the story, but it seems clear the Broncos were ready to hand the ball the Tebow, once they traded Orton.
When the trade did not happen, it was up to the QBs to settle the matter on the field. I must admit, I was surprised when Tebow didn't live up to the hype. With Orton on the trading block, I assumed the Broncos front office was confident that Tebow was ready to take over as the Broncos starter.
Passing..........Att..Cmp..Yds..TDs..Int...Rating.. Kyle Orton......42....28....408....2.....1.....104.1.. Brady Quinn...30.....18....250....2.....1......95.1.. Tim Tebow......20.....13...194.....0.....0.....96.7..
The stats do not tell the whole story, concerning Tebow's progress or lack of. In passing situations Tebow is still trying to extend plays with his legs, rather than going through his progressions and throwing the ball away if the receivers are not open.
...he still wants to play the Pro game as he did when he was in college. Tebow's health will not hold up to the punishment if he does not become a "passing QB".
Orton's performance in the preseason has created a clear divide between himself and Quinn and Tebow. ObviouslyTebow is not ready and needs more time to mature and learn how to play the QB position, at the Pro level.

One thing that Tebow has going for him is a former "running" QB in the front office in John Elway. Elway may be able to offer him some advice on how best to harness his abilities, and how to run when it's appropriate, and hang in the pocket when that's the best option.

I just don't understand why Denver just didn't trade Orton for the highest price, and roll with Tebow...
If he succeeds, good, if not, then you can say you tried and are now in a good position to get fellow Stanford boy Luck..

THe reason is simple,, what if, as bad a record as you may have, there might be someone worse and then they get the 1st pick and you end up with Tebow and Quinn.
Or, what if you are the worst team in the league and you get the first pick in the draft and something happens to Luck to make him unavailable folr the draft (pick anyone of a dozen reasons that could happen)
That's why whenever I hear talk of a team tanking the season to go after someone high in the next draft, All I can do is laugh...

I never said anythign about tanking the season...
You go ahead with Tebow, because, as a buisness, you've put alot of stock in him (traded back into the first round) so you almost have to see what you've got in him...
Orton's a FA next year, I DOUBT they'll Franchise him, and I doubt he's ganna stay there, so playing him this year gets them nothing (unless contrary to popular belief, they're any good this year)
They crumbled up the 1st round pick by drafting Tebow, trading him/cutting him or simply not playing him is officially tossing it away...

Just when people were building up Quinn as a legitimate guy ..... he flops big time. He got the start in Denver's 4th pre-season game against the Cardinals. He went 4-12 for 0 TD and 1 INT. He also had a lost fumble. Tebow went 7-11 for 116 yards and 1 TD. Brady Quinn is not an NFL QB. He is Charlie Frye part 2. One of his 4 completions was for -3 yards.

Against a banged up Cardinals secondary too. I don't know what's wrong with Quinn. He just doesn't seem to have the "it" factor.

No he won't. He'll limp around the league as a #2-#3 guy for years.
Too bad. He shows flashes of average starter type talent, but can't keep it going for more than 3 games.

I'm going to wait to see if Hillis can have a few more good years, but that has to be one of the best all-time deals that the Browns have made... with deal and then the trade down this past year I've really liked what our new FO has done in just a couple of years.

I give Tebow TEN YEARS...ALL as a 2...
He wants to be a REAL QB...He's a Vick wanna-be when it comes to escaping the pocket...He's SLOW...His delivery is the same as at Florida...WIND-UP...He'll get killed in the NFL...
Check that...I give him TWO YEARS...He will NEVER be a QB in this league...Donkey Teeth is saying so right now...

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-broncosqbquestionBest passer rating among Broncos QBs? Adam Weber By ARNIE STAPLETON, AP Pro Football Writer 2 hours, 55 minutes ago . tweet1 Email Print .. . Englewood, Colo. (AP)—The Denver Broncos quarterback that finished the preseason with the best passer rating wasn’t starter Kyle Orton(notes). It wasn’t Brady Quinn(notes) or Tim Tebow(notes). Instead, it’s undrafted free agent Adam Weber(notes), who had a 118.8 QB after completing his one and only pass of the preseason. It was an 89-yarder to fellow rookie Eron Riley(notes) in the waning seconds of Denver’s 26-7 loss at Arizona on Thursday night. “Unfortunately, I ran out of juice,” Riley said of getting dragged down just shy of the goal line. The Broncos like Weber but didn’t give him much exposure during the exhibitions. Not only did they need to get a long look at Quinn and Tebow, they wanted to try to slip Weber through on waivers this weekend so they could sign him to their practice squad. Quinn didn’t do much to distinguish himself Thursday night, but Tebow wasn’t much better. Weber got in at the end and made a nice impression. “I was happy to get out there,” Weber said. “But I don’t think there’s enough out there” to expose him to other teams. “One pass isn’t enough.” Orton didn’t play against the Cardinals, sitting out with the rest of the starters in preparation for the season opener Sept. 12 against Oakland. He finished the preseason with a 104.1 passer rating after completing 28 of 42 passes (66.7 percent) for 408 yards and two touchdowns to go with one interception. Orton has gone from trade bait in July to locker room leader after a deal with the Miami Dolphins never materialized. Orton’s crisp play and poise has the Broncos believing they can contend for their first playoff berth since 2005 even as they come off a 4-12 debacle that was their worst season in franchise history. “I feel good because Kyle Orton is our quarterback, and he’s as good as they come,” teammate Champ Bailey(notes) declared. “He doesn’t get the respect that he deserves, but he’s going to earn it this year, one way or the other.” Quinn appeared to have a stranglehold on the No. 2 job after a solid camp and two terrific outings in the preseason but he sat out last week’s game against Seattle and was awful in Arizona, completing just 4 of 12 passes for 26 yards and an interception. “We couldn’t really get in a rhythm at the start of the game, a couple of drops and I threw a couple of bad balls,” Quinn said. “I don’t know if it was just rust or I wasn’t seeing things well, but not a good way to cap the offseason.” Quinn finished the preseason with a 69.1 passer rating, having completed 22 of 42 passes for 276 yards, two TDs and two interceptions. Tebow went 7 of 11 for 116 yards Thursday night and finished with a 108.3 passer rating in the preseason. He completed 20 of 31 passes (64.5 percent) for 310 yards with one TD toss and no interceptions. “I think I’ve still got a lot of room for improvement, and just keep working on fundamentals, reads, getting better with everything. But I feel pretty confident about my performance,” Tebow said. Tebow improved his accuracy—he completed just 50 percent of his passes as a rookie—but he was sacked seven times this summer while the other quarterbacks combined for just four takedowns. It’s exhibit No. 1 in the argument that the former Florida star has a long way to go to become the pocket passer that new football boss John Elway envisions. Tebow said he hasn’t been bothered in the least by all the speculation about the Denver quarterback job and his failure to challenge Orton this summer after entering camp as the presumed starter in many peoples’ eyes, including his own. “I just worry about what I can control, and that’s going out there every day with a great attitude, great effort and a great work ethic,” Tebow said. “If I do that, I know I’ll get better every day, I know I’ll improve and why worry about what everyone else is saying? I can’t control it.” The debate over who is No. 2 is sure to continue given Tebow’s and Quinn’s performance in the preseason finale. It’s unlikely coach John Fox was planning to announce who is his primary backup quarterback now that NFL rules allow all the quarterbacks to play on game day. So, while Orton is the starter, the competition to be his backup continues right into the regular season. “Every time I go out there, I go to compete,” Tebow said, “to go out there and do my best and prove and show that I can be a quarterback in this league.”

Well, it's only CS if it's not true.
I think it comes off as him placing the blame elsewhere because we never hear a football player actually tell the truth. They're so indoctrinated to use cliches and platitudes when talking to the media that if someone slips and says, "Yeah, I sucked but so did they" then it looks like that player is throwing the blame off himself.
In this case though it doesn't really matter. We got the best of that deal by a mile. Take solace in the fact that if the Donks have to use either Quinn or Tebow as a starter for more than 1 game this season they are screwed......

I thought I read somewhere those drops were actually by the other teams players.
