Hope he has success. I still like him as a a coach, and think he is an okay guy. Just not clear on were this leaves him.

You do realize that Eli Manning was the 3rd most prolific passer this year, with just shy of 5000 yards ......... and that the Giants were ranked 27th in total defense ...... right?
Both sides of the equation will be interesting in that they will be low ranked defenses vs OK offenses, and top flight passing games vs top flight defenses.
This year, there is a huge disparity in the teams. We have the #8, 10, 20 and 32 ranked rushing offenses, the #2, 5, 19 and 29th ranked passing attacks, the #4, 16, 29 and 31 ranked pass defenses, the #1, 2, 17 and 19th ranked rush defenses, and the #3, 9, 10, and 13th ranked scoring offenses, to go against the #2, 3, 15, and 25th ranked scoring defenses.
It is strange how one team's strengths seems to so against the other team's strengths, and so on. Should be an interesting Sunday's worth f football.

NFL.com's Developing Story banner says the Bucs are close to signing Oregon's Chip Kelly.....that's out of left field!

The bucs seem like a hopeless organization. You get rid of Jon Gruden for Chip Kelly.? He is a master of the spread offense, but that is twice the gamble, bringing in a college coach with his gimmick offense.

I am aware Gruden hasn't coached since 08. Point being, I don't think they have upgraded the position. Kelly may light the nfl on fire, but I wouldn't count on it. Especially since Freeman is a pocket quarterback.

Dennis Allen to get second interview with Raiders Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on January 23, 2012, 12:12 PM EST We may now have a new favorite for the Raiders head coaching job. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Broncos defensive coordinator Dennis Allen will have a second interview with Oakland. The interview will take place in Mobile, Alabama at the Senior Bowl. Allen also interviewed with the Rams. It’s believed he’ll be the first candidate to speak for a second time with the Raiders. Marty Mornhingweg and Winston Moss were also believed to be strong candidates for the Oakland job. Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers was also expected to meet with the Raiders.

PFT Just reported Sherman was one of a few in line for second interview with the Bucs and then they pulled it off. Not sure what the deal is?

Report: Bucs plan to hire Schiano Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on January 26, 2012, 10:23 AM EST It looks like the Bucs will hire a surprising college name to be their next head coach after all. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Bucs plan to hire Rutgers coach Greg Schiano. The two sides are reportedly putting on the “finishing touches” on Schiano’s contract. Of course, the Bucs were also planning to hire Oregon coach Chip Kelly at one point. They were trying to finalize that contract, but it didn’t happen. Schiano looks less likely to have a last minute change of heart. WDAE in Tampa first reported the Bucs’ interest in Schiano on Thursday. The Bucs’ other “finalist” for the head coaching job was Mike Sherman, who Schefter reports is now talking to the Dolphins about their offensive coordinator job. The Bucs searched far and wide for the next head coach. A recommendation from Bill Belichick reportedly help Schiano’s case. Schiano couldn’t be more different from Kelly in his coaching philosophy. Kelly is wildly aggressive and inventive. Schiano is much more conservative and prides himself on discipline. He once coached under Dave Wannstedt, and the two men seem to share a lot of philosophical ideas. It’s impossible to tell what college coaches can translate success to the NFL level, but this likely won’t be a popular hire in Tampa. Schiano went 9-4 in 2011 after an ugly 4-8 season in 2010. Schefter reports Schiano also interviewed with the Rams this offseason.

We'll probably have to wait until all the vacant head coaching spots are filled before we hear much of anything about a new OC for the Browns. Just a hunch. ::shrug::

Tampa will be the last vacancy filled. . .
I REALLY wish people wouldn't hold their breath on this OC search. I'm not feeling any kind of big splash on the horizon . . .

It seems like the Bucs are doing every thing they can to not hire Mike Sherman. At least they are thinking outside the box. Also: Quote:

With so many options out there, why Whipple? And if we want Whipple, why wouldn't we have done it yet?
I hope that Sherman is considering us. Other guy's I'd like would be Zorn or Childress.
Whipple was OC for a Univ of Miami team that wasn't good and had their head coach fired. It's not like our QB's or offense was good last year anyway.
I'll be very disappointed if Whipple becomes the guy. Obviously he wouldn't have been our first choice (because we would have already promoted him) and I've never been thrilled about him at all.
Sherman, Zorn, Childress. Those are candidates I'd like. Especially Sherman.

First off, I think Childress is horrible. I'd rather not hire anyone than hire him. Quote:

Most people will be disappointed. Some will light their torches and call for the firing of Holmgren, Heckert, and Shurmur and say, "No one wants to come coach for us because <insert some made up reason>."

A guy that might fit is Clyde Christensen (the Colts longtime offensive coordinator), he has the same agent as Holmgren, Heckert, and Shurmur. I don't think he is a west coast guy, but he might be a fit. Al Saunders also might be available if the Raiders hire a new staff (also has the same agent as Holmgren/Heckert/Shurmur). A guy that would fit the West Coast offense mold is Hue Jackson, but I think he is a lunatic and unhireable.
We'll see what happens, but I am prepared for the Whipple promotion as we have heard literally nothing about our offensive coordinator search other than,"We're looking."

Here's a reach.... The Packers promote McAdoo to OC...Clements comes back from Hawaii and takes the job here.. Although....McAdoo didn't got to Hawaii...So maybe he's interviewing here for the OC job.... Big Reach.....  And agree...no Chilly here...

Perhaps we keep Whipple and hire Sherman. Then we can have commercials saying, "Mr. Whipple, please don't squeeze the Sherman!"

From reading the article in the link he posted...Sounds like it's going to be a done deal...never know thou...
With Sherman wanting to be a HC so fast..I'm not sure if I would want that hire..Here for a season then gone...
I know that's common...But it sure would be nice to get a good fit here and have them stay for 3 or more seasons...jmo...
