lol, that was a very dumb look that they seemed to think was pretty smart.
I wished the heat would lose, but don't care much that they won.
I thought the officiating was pretty horrible in favor of the heat.

Lebron got his ring. Neat. He sold out to go to what most considered a "sure thing" team............and it took them 3 years I think? To get it.
Know what? lebron is waking up each day - loving his current status, but in the back of his mind is the party they had when he and bosh signed.....ya know, the "we're not here to win one championship, not 2, not 3, not 4....."etc.
Took him, and them, 3 years to get one. Like I said, he's waking up each day now, and the spit and polish is already wearing off this one.
Hope he's happy.

Hard to tell where exactly the league will be in 2 years, but possibly wherever Dwight ends up?
I think Cleveland is a possibility too. If they can continue to add pieces, and Kyrie gets better. I think Lebron would want to come back. Dan Gilbert would welcome him too. Dan Gilbert probably still has some hard feelings, but he knows what's good for business, and he could spin that into the best story in Cleveland in years.
Also, people thought the Nets were a serious contender for him in 2010, but they were far off in talent and the arena was years away. Well the arena is ready to go, and if they can land one of these big pieces.. ya never know.

I disagree.
I'm not in the kid's head, but right now I highly doubt that he's anything but elated. I doubt he's thinking about what could've been in Cleveland, as others have suggested, and I don't think he's regretting the idiotic 'not one, not two...' party they threw for themselves (if anything, he probably feels it's now validated). I doubt the sheen has even begun to wear off yet for him.
IMO, the kid is elated right now, probably a bit full of himself and lacking any regret. I think we all want to project some regret or concern onto him, because, well, he won, and he's on top of the world right now, and that's something no one from Cleveland wanted to see happen.

He won a championship in a city that doesn't really give a damn about basketball. I'm happy for him, he got what he dreamed of getting since he was a child. How much it means to him is only truly known by him, and he's the only one that has to live with any decisions he made to get it. No doubt about it, he's one of NBA's best in history. Congrats to him.

Yeah, I don't think anyone can dispute he's certainly the best athlete of this generation (in terms of speed, quickness, and strength), period. He has great court vision and near-rim finishing skills to boot, too. I just can't be too impressed with the accomplishment of needing to join two other Olympians and top-15 scorers in the league to win it all. Though it truly is indicative of his mental weakness and a bit of a sense of entitlement (by entitlement I mean the mindset: "I'm the best in the game and it took a decade to get the ring. What the hell" as if it were to be guaranteed), I still don't hate Lebron. I dislike him and what/how he did the Decision, but my biggest problem lies with the NBA for what it's become.
This tailor-made for offense league that doesn't allow hand-checking and makes it as easy as it does for scorers to get to the free throw line has become soft and lost the mental-edge intensity it had back in the 90s and beforehand. Strategy? Who needs that when there's "the iso". Wisely accumulating talent via the draft so that the weaker, needier teams can turn things around and compete? Screw that. Why not just lottery off those picks with ping-pong balls than based on the merit of schedule/results. Beyond that, let's have a system that pees on small-markets and allows the bigger ones to just acquire/assemble parts needed for championships. This league stinks; and I'm not saying that out of bitterness for the downhill slope the Cavs went on went LBJ left. The last too many titles have been LA/BOS/and now MIA's douchey, hand-gifted roster talent.

We could start a winery.
But when all you have is sour grapes it becomes a whinery.
Face it.... The Cavs weren't willing to pony up and pay a supporting cast to surround James with an environment of success. He was pretty much a one man dog and pony show.
I believe to win a Championship, he had to go somewhere that would give him a solid supporting cast.
So if you want to spout out sour grapes, maybe it should be towards the person in charge of trying to get rich on LBJ without paying a good enough of a supporting cast to actually win a championship here......
But no, making LBJ the target of your anguish I guess is simply easier than looking at the core of the real situation here......
This is the most ridiculous concept.
You act like the Cavs had the lowest salary in the NBA when James was here, pinching every penny we could..
Serious question, do you understand how the NBA salary cap and contracts work?
We actually did the OPPOSITE of what you're saying, Seattle/OKC got Durant, so they dumped EVERYONE, and were HORRIBLE for 3-4 years, it got them 2 top Lottery picks in Harden and Westbrook and Ibaka late.
We won 35 games James' first year, missed on the 11th pick, and then jumped up to 40 win seasons.
In the NBA, you CAN'T just go out and get good players when ever you want. You have to have the room to get them...

I would add that Gilbert happily paid the luxury tax in order to try and get any and every talent he was able to acquire.
You can't just go get a 2nd superstar any time you want. We tried that by getting Jamison, who most people at the time thought would be a huge help for Lebron. Then they went and got Shaq, thinking that he would help. Lebron was supposed;y on board with both moves.

Since Steve Nash left, Dallas has been swapping out contract for contract, trying to make it work, they finally got the right guy in Tyson Chandler and a few other good fits...
I have no feelings against LeBron for not wanting to wait around like Dirk did for "the right fit"
But to say Cleveland didn't try is ridiculous.

He's also ignoring Lebron's non-committal attitude and how that made it difficult to bring in serious help.

I actually got a kick out of that post. I'm not sure what's funnier. Him being completely clueless and pretty much 100% wrong about what the Cavs did with their roster when Lebron was here ... or him constantly whining about fans whining about Lebron ... acting as if people wouldn't let him leave, when almost everybody didn't care that he left ... they're just miffed about how he did it.

I think the blame goes all around on it.
Dan Gilbert and the Cavs take their share, but as we have said on here before, it's really hard when you're a town like Cleveland as it is, but when your star player is mum on staying 2 years before he hits free agency to the point where guys who could have been good contributors may have come to town, don't? That's on Lebron.
I never bought into the whole LBJ not meeting Michael Redd at the airport. Michael Redd is an Ohio born player who at the time was really really good (before all his injury problems) but there was no way in hell that he was going to come to Cleveland and pass up the 20m extra that Milwaukee, as allowed by the system could offer. And no, you don't sign and trade a star player to a division rival. I never expected him to come.
But Ron Artest and Trevor Ariza? Those are both guys who would have been pretty good fits in the Cavs organization. These aren't 20ppg star players, but then again, the Cavs didn't necassarily need that.
I think the general consensus was that Danny Ferry did everything he could given the hand he was dealt.
It's really easy for casual NBA fans to just say "oh well they didn't put enough around him to stay"
Honestly, I blame Gordon Gund for having a crappy setup in place prior to LBJ coming to town. Maybe had they had better people in place like they do now, things would be different. They botched a bunch of picks. The free agent stuff will always be difficult but those first two years they swung and missed.
The blame goes everywhere but saying they didn't do enough to keep him is laughable.

Paxson, Gund, it's all the same, that organization was run like garbage in those years leading up to Lebron.
Things are better now, and I like Chris Grant, I think we all do, but he's still got a ways to go to prove himself as a good GM. I like what I have seen thus far. Thursday is a huge day (duh) for him.

Here's an interesting thought ..... just for the conspiracy theorists ......
The Cavaliers had 2 1st round picks last year. They have 2 this year. They, potentially, have 3 next year. (plus multiple 2nd rounder this year and next, again, IIRC)
James can opt out of his deal with the Heat in 2013, if I recall correctly .......
He could come back to a Cavaliers team with tons of talent .... and that could afford him ...... and a team not only with talent, but with young talent ....... that could win for a long time to come ......
However, the Cavaliers are well positioned to add a veteran regardless. I doubt that it happens this year, but they could look for a veteran presence next season to add to all of their youth and young veterans. Not a Tim Duncan, but maybe a guy like that ..... a veteran leader, who has been there and done that .....

From my perspective, I don't want him back. I'd rather us build a team and win it without him.
I'd find that much more satisfying.. But that's just me

To somehow "show" Lebron? Nah.
But for the national media and NBA fans who laughed at Cleveland during the decision and that 20+ game losing streak? yeah.
Honestly, it'd be the last thing on my mind the moment we were champs.
I'm just hoping Thursday is the jackpot for us. We haven't had a playoff team in 2 years, and it sucks not being able to root for Cleveland in the playoffs.

They are going to win several more, so like YTBF, who cares?
The guy moved on. The only thing about that I find distasteful is the manner in which he did so. It is what it is....
We have our own deal to nurture here. This is a big draft. We have to hit or in a few years Irving is going to seek greener pastures.

I can get on board with that thinking. I want us to build a team that can win championships and if I had my druthers, I'd love to do it without a star player of the magnitude of LBJ..
There hasn't been a player more hyped since Jordan played.. and while I feel they'll repeat, I'm only concerned about the Cavs.

He's mentioned it a few times "doing it the right way"
He's insecure. What does it matter? You won the championship. A guy that commited image suicide by taking part in arguably the worst idea on live television has a problem with people saying it was a cheap win?
You'd think if he was that worried about it, he never would have done the decision out of fear of his profile taking a dive. Oh, but it was for the kids, lol.
Like what I and many others on here have said, this is what happens when you have a bunch of yes men around you instead of having people who will tell you what you need to hear.
I mean seriously, University of Miami fans and Buckeye haters alike still think Ohio State's 2002-2003 championship was "given" to them and not "earned" because of a questionable call in OT. Do Buckeye fans care? I don't.

Yet if he had won it here istead of there, everyone would be saying how much it meant.

He wanted a Champoinship, went to where they would give him a supporting casr to make it happen and he's just as thrilled as he would have been here, or no matter where it happened.
You wouldn't be saying this if he were with the Cavs and the fact is, he just wanted to win one, which he did.
It means as much to him no matter where he got it. And the only place he isn't respected is here. I doubt he's losing any sleep over it. LOL
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

It's just blows watching the game change the way it has. As a kid, I got to watch Malone, Stockton, Barkley, Jordan, Hakeem the Dream, Shaq, Reggie Miller, The Glove, The Admiral, etc. Those guys were new wave, incredible athletes evolved beyond the 50s NBA played in boxer shorts by rigid corn-huskin' folk; but at the same time were old school in their mindsets and mentalities while playing hard-nosed and fundamentally sound. Today's game is about the iso-chuck and drawing fouls. And I don't know if you play basketball at all, but if you see two of the most skilled wings in a pick-up game grab the tallest guy available and it's scrubs vs. team overcompensate, those guys are douchebags and will get to become comfortable with the ground.
Yeah, he won a title. But the way it was half-assedly assembled (not earned via solid draft selections or savvy, balanced, strategic trades) and talked about while he was still in CLE wreaks of fishiness and tampering. It's kind of everything that can be awful about sports. And how are you going to accuse the Cavs of putting garbage around him (a point you with Paxson) and then ignore that Ariza/Artest were really interested in coming, but went elsewhere upon seeing his non-committal attitude?
Politicians are puppets, y'all. Let's get Geppetto!

Pit this is the one argument that bugs me to no end and I hear it all the time. Dan Gilbert is a rich man and would have done WHATEVER LeBron wanted to bring a championship team to Cleveland... In fact it was in doing what LeBron wanted several times that set this team back in it's ability to build that team... then there was the Trevor Ariza story a couple years before LeBron left when Ariza was the coveted free agent who ended up signing with the Lakers stating after that the reason he didn't sign with Cleveland was because he didn't get the feeling that LeBron was committed to staying... LeBron sabotaged a lot of Clevelands efforts to build him the team he needed and now Cleveland gets blamed for it and that ticks me off. LeBron could have been an active participant in helping bring stars here but to the contrary, his non-commitment to Cleveland is aparantly what kept some away.
I have no problem with him leaving... but lets be honest, he was the lynchpin in the whole "Big 3".. if he said he was staying in Cleveland then either Bosh or Wade or possibly both, would have come to Cleveland.. but he didn't want to say that... he wanted to leave. I've come to grips with that, but please stop saying that it's because Cleveland couldn't put a team around him.

If you guys remember the days following the decision, all that negative pub that come out, all the bad tipping stories and whatnot. There was one story about an unnamed star player who was put off by an arrogant text from Lebron about coming to play with him.
The more I think about it, the more I think it was Redd. Makes a lot of sense. For one, even though he left his name out, he knew Lebron would find out who he was just by the fact that he actually said word for word what the text was. The other thing is, what would he care? He's broken down, and will never be great again. Like I said, he wasn't coming to Cleveland or anywhere else not named Milwaukee.
Also, people think they conspired to get together in 2008 at the Olympics, but you can argue it happened even earlier than that in 2006, when those 3 opted to take the shorter extension and pass up some money to become free agents sooner, while Carmelo signed the full extension.

Yet if he had won it here istead of there, everyone would be saying how much it meant.

Uh, yeah? Duh? City of Cleveland, first title in what 50 years? Home-state kid. Fan base that actually cares about sports even when their team isn't one of the best talents ever put together.

You wouldn't be saying this if he were with the Cavs and the fact is, he just wanted to win one, which he did.
Good for him. I've stated many times it's my opinion that he only cares about titles because of his image, and not because he has an actual desire to be the best.

It means as much to him no matter where he got it. And the only place he isn't respected is here. I doubt he's losing any sleep over it. LOL

Keep on Trollin'.
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

Lebron is only not respected in Cleveland?
That couldn't be further off. That dude is not liked anywhere.
Did anyone see the sportsnation map before the finals. They asked who you were rooting for. Blue for Thunder, Red for Miami. The only states in red were Florida and Washington State.
