Just because it's changing doesn't mean we have to allow the lowest common denominator, Mt Dew chugging, mouth breathers dictate our tradition.

You know its funny, because all I heard on here for a long time was that football was becoming way too "wine and cheese" for most people... can't stand up, can't swear, can't get drunk, can't tailgate, people in my section don't know whats going on, people are on their phones more than they are watching football, etc... Sounds to me like the knuckle dragging mouth breathers are the ones fighting to SAVE their tradition of fighting in the stands and shouting F bombs in front of kids while stumbling around in a drunken stupor.

What's next changing the colors because the 'hip kids' don't like orange and brown? What's wrong with tradition?

Not a thing wrong with tradition but I guess in the end, you have to ask yourself WHY it's a tradition.... and what do we lose by changing it.... or what do we gain by changing it.... and my answer to both with respect to cheerleaders is... NOTHING.

I'm not advocating for cheerleaders, I don't really care, I'm just getting a fair amount of amusement over those who act like it will destroy the Browns and the fan experience of watching us lose. Like they will come take all of our old championship trophies and remove Jim Brown from the HoF if we get cheerleaders.

As far as the colors.. no I don't want to change them, but I will say the Seahawks uniforms last night were pretty cool.

If the Browns got uniforms half as cool as the Maryland uniforms I think it would be great.

so, you agree that Maryland needs to cut their uniforms in half because the designer was having a seizure and accidentally sewed 2 different uniforms together.

Dear God those quilts that Maryland calls uniforms are atrocious. Please Lord keep that designer as far from Cleveland as possible.

Pretty sure Under Armour designed the Maryland unis. Clearly they were trying to out-Nike Nike with that mess.

I'd be a little concerned about what Haslam might allow Nike to do to our unis though. I'm definitely a traditionalist in that department. We'll see what happens...

The Ducks are another hot mess in my mind. Fifty wing and or checkplate patterns. Twelve shades of yellow, green, gray, black, white, chrome... Pick a uniform. It's not a costume party, it's football.

Yeah... Oregon is good enough now that they don't have rely on clown costumes to get noticed.

I like Oregon's unis. And I like how they roll something new out every other game.

honestly, it's Oregon. they had Donald Duck masquerading as their mascot for decades. they were a joke and looking for anything to cling to as an identity. being Nike's test subject school is better than what they were.

sort of like Boise. they had nothing going for them, so the fact they play on that ridiculous blue field is fine. a little school with no football tradition doing something to gain attention.

it's when schools like Notre Dame jump in on the craze that it makes me angry

I don't have an issue with the Nike costumes. Just pick one. When did black become one of the school's colors? Or chrome? Or that awful day-glow yellow green?
I'm not sure they've worn the same costume twice in a season. Decide on school colors. Stick with them.

Whats really sad is that were having a discussion over cheerleaders, should the Browns have cheerleaders or not have cheerleaders, is it a tradition or not a tradition, isnt there something more important in this world or in our lives that we can just look over cheerleaders and move on, Having or not having cheerleaders is not going to turn the Borwns around over night, not going to make our run defence any better or make our guards know how to run block or learn to pass protect, haivng cheerleaders is not the point where this franchise turns the corner and starts looking ahead for the super bowl....

Who cares if we have cheerleaders, If we have them great, if we dont ok move on...it's really not a big deal either way.

I JUST WANNA FREAKEN WIN.......WIN...bottom line, WIN

it's sad we have to talk about Cheerleaders during the NFL season, If the Browns would put a winning product on the field for the fans we'd never even notice the cheerleaders, we'd be watching the team, but instead when your 0 - 3 what else do ya have....I'm going hunten

Im with you I dont care is someone gets wood over a couple women dancing I can do that at home, I want to watch a team win darn it. I know it wont happen this year but a bunch of dancers at the club wont either so I say Meh.

If you need 3 years to be a winner you got here 2 years to early. Get it done Browns.

I guess our definition of fun is different. A team parading out a new costume every week does nothing for me. Winning on the other hand, that's fun. If the Browns came out of the tunnel wearing light orange check plate pants, beige jerseys, brown helmets with orange flames on the side, it wouldn't make the team 'more fun.' Guessing what the next costume will be the following week would give us something to talk about. But is it fun? Just win baby. Just win. Winning is so much fun.

No it isn't. You seem to think that I would choose flash over winning and that's just not the case. I'm saying that the 2 are not, in any way, connected. Are you saying a guy in his 50's should still be rockin' the leisure suit because it was a fashionable tradition that started 40 years ago? If he gets a new suit does that make him a different person?

Winning is accomplished by several years of acquiring the right talent, the right staff, implementing the right system, working hard in the offseason, staying healthy, etc.

Adding cheerleaders or a little flash to the uniforms is something you can do completely separate from the above... and has no impact on whether or not you win or lose....

Alabama isn't good every year because they have had the same uniforms for 50 years any more than Oregon is good because they change uniforms every week.

Again I understand the two aren't linked. I'm just a traditionalist on this. It's one of the very few places in my life I hold to tradition. If you knew me in person, you'd know that.
Maybe I'm a little jaded when it comes to this stuff. Living in Duck country I get an @?& of it all the time. I can't stand the Ducks. Their fans. Their offense. Their coach. None of it. The costume changes drive me crazy. They have no tradition so they've chosen gimmick as their new tradition. Hate it. Now the talk is changing some of the Browns tradition? Sorry I'll never get on board.

The only tradition any Browns fan under about 35 remembers is us being gone or terrible.... and stories of the of the "Oh what might have been" good old days... and the "dust off those old scrap books" really good really old days. Maybe it's time to start some new traditions.... after all, all traditions had to start somewhere.

I'm 40. I remember everything back to RR88. Bring back the tradition of being a perrinial playoff team. Then maybe, maybe I'll swallow some changes to other traditions. I lost my team once. We fought for the traditions to stay with us. We lost the winning. To lose everything else now would just suck. JMHO

I'm 35 and I could not agree more! The fight to keep what was essentially our collective identity as a franchise is what kept me from going to another teams fanbase while the Browns were gone. To toss that aside and accept new traditions, colors, logos, etc... would make all of that effort to keep everything here moot. I just cannot understand this apathetic feeling regarding softening what we fought to keep. The arguement of, "well, we lose anyway, so why not change" is ridiculous. With that rationale, so much in life would be different for all of us. I agree that catering to a younger generation of fans needs to be important, but to bend over backwards in such a way as to stomp on the very traditions that enable them to even have a team to cheer for is not the way to go about it. A flashy new uniform, a dome, a logo, cheerleaders and the like are not going to persuade the younger generation to adopt them as a team, winning will. Call it a stodgy way of thinking, but to continually cater to incoming generations and thier whims get the true traditions watered down and lost to time. I simply don't want that to happen to something we as a fanbase fought so hard and paid such a high price for, i.e. no football for 3 years.

Unless either of y'all can sing the Cleveland Browns Fight Song, in tune and with all lyrics - and actually do so when we score touchdowns, don't talk about tradition... you obviously just give lip service to it.

If the team that they put on the field is winning, I don't care how they dress it up. I also certainly would not mind having some little hotties to ogle from time to time.
If the team that they put on the field is crap.... then they gotta dress it up somehow, and having hotties to ogle certainly doesn't hurt.

Don't mock me or I will show you how the Broncos were 0-4 in super bowl appearances until they got rid of those blue helmets with the D on them and orange shirts... within 3 years of changing, they had won 2 super bowls.

The Broncos also got rid of their cheerleaders from 1980 to 93.. during those years, 0-3 in the super bowl.. got the cheerleaders back in 93... since then 2-0 in the super bowl.

Dude you just can't dispute hard facts.

Tampa Bay also went from Perennial Toilet Bowl contenders to Super Bowl champs, just a few years after they changed up the unis. Seattle also made the Super Bowl a few years after they changed too.

Technically.

Before 2001 New England's Pat Patriot mascot wore #0.

Then in 2001 it was changed to #1.

Just saying.

People will probably bring up a team like the Steelers and say, "See, they have stuck with the same traditional uniform and they do ok." To which I say.. "Not so fast my friend."

The Steelers had 1 playoff season in 36 years before switching to the black helmets and jerseys that we all know today... 5 years later they started on their run to win 6 super bowls...

I'm a man and yes she's a knockout. Next.
(I know this is all in jest.)

Maybe I'm old fashion. Maybe it's time for Haslem to change the whole thing up. New unis. New colors. New name. New mascot. Just please dear God start winning again. Please. If it takes hearing "And now to present the Cleveland Cluckers the Lombardi Trophy..." and seeing our team captain in his pink and green jersey raise said trophy over his head, your right I don't care. Just...win...
Hey let's change the name of the Lombardi. How many new kids today even have a clue to who Lombardi was? Let's call it the Brady, or Manning Trophy from now on. Who needs tradition?!
While were on a roll, no Christmas trees this year. Let's all eat BLTs on Thanksgiving while we're at it. No more Thanksgiving NFL. Just all day Marathons of Kill Bill.

I disagree.

I think hearing anything other than "Your Suber Bowl Champion Cleveland Browns" makes the whole last however many years seem pointless...

At this point anyways.

Oilers fans are now likely rooting for the Texans, but that was from the start in 2002.

Had we come back in 99 as something else? Maybe. But change EVERYTHING now? Nah.
