I doubt that Tressel goes back into coaching in the NFL. He's never really seemed like an NFL type of coach.
I would be stunned if Meyers left his dream job after only one year.

Not saying you're wrong, but any bad job experiences I ever had, I associated it with my employer and or management put in place by that employer, not the location.
If a business I had worked for in the past has a new owner and management from when I had previously been employed there, I wouldn't hold them accountable for my past experiences.

New owner, different GM (no matter who is the GM) and entirely new front office ........ I see no reason why a coach wouldn't want to come here. Given that this team actually has a fair amount of talent just adds to the appeal this job, should it become open, would have for a coach.

While true, the X-factor are the fans, who totally destroyed him while he was here.
I don't know Arians personally, but I'd be surprised if he didn't hold a grudge against the fans here who were less than accommodating. Furthermore, I'd be surprised if Haslam and Banner didn't wonder if the fans would give him a shorter leash than other guys because of the history.
I've been wrong before, but I surely don't see Bruce coming back here.

I'm not saying he would or wouldn't.
But as a professional in this business, I believe one should expect to be chastised when you don't win. It's a part of the profession and goes with the territory when your team loses. And that's not exclusive to Cleveland.

No, from almost all accounts Ive read Andy has as much to do with Banner leaving Philly as anyone.
EDIT: and if he cant get anything done with the talent he has in Philly why would we want him anyway?

For the same reason that Brian Billick, Bill Cowher, Jimmy Johnson aren't on the list.. if they want to come back, which I don't think they do, they will pick their spot.
Chip Kelly would be stupid to leave, he's got a good thing going, he's making a lot of money, he's in an environment where people think having him dress up like the duck mascot and show up at pep rallys is cute... I'm not sure his flamboyant personality would fit as well in the NFL.
Of the rest of them, all are very good at what they do... what they will be asked to do as a head coach is going to be very different... so I have no freakin' clue which one of them would make the best HC... in the end, their ability to pick coordinators will largely determine their fate... which one has the best track record of doing that?

People won't like this choice but Todd Haley would be a tremendous candidate for this job if he hired the right DC. Kelly's system needs a QB with some mobility and that is not Weeden.

This is not really on topic, per se, but I watched last night's game between the Saints and the Broncos and in my own personal opinion (which does not mean much  ), I think that when Peyton Manning retires, he is going to be one heck of a coach. I think he would automatically go into consideration for a QB or WR coach in the nfl right off the bat, and then maybe an o-coordinator and head coach a couple years later. With the Haslam-Tenn connection, maybe something down the road? (also in last night's game, I saw when a WR is uncovered at the line, Peyton hand signals to him that he will throw the ball as soon as it's snapped. Snap, turn, quick throw, easy 5 yards and a first down. why don't other QBs do that kind of stuff?)

Why wouldn't he be? Guy does wonders with the offensive side of the ball. If he can take the Cardinals to the Super Bowl as OC, then he's certainly a decent play-caller. Even the Chiefs were really good offensively while he was there.
His lack of a decent QB really hurt him in KC.

If Pagano returns, they won't give consideration to Ariens to be the HC going forward. If Pagano can't return, then yeah,, I can see where he'd stay put.

I just have the inkling, given his experience with the Steelers, that Haslam will hire a young, fiery, disciplined head coach and either retain or hire very experienced coordinators.

That is if he wants to go from being a player to having an 80 hour per week job as a coach. I think he could do it but the best players don't always make the best coaches... and why would he want to do that?

Well I did also say disciplined. I also thing a good, young head coach should not focus on playcalling. I think it will also be one who is handpicked by Haslam, not Holmgren.

it was just a thought I had. he was coaching up the offense every time they were on the bench. guy seems dedicated to winning.

Peyton might be the best head coach the NFL every has when he retires and such...Ive been thinking that since 03...
Ive felt the same way about Dan Marino and Jim Kelly...and really Bernie Kosar...I think all of these guys would be phenomenal bench men.
Elway has shown he can get it done too...but my hatred for him in football makes me want him to submarine at all costs.

Shaw is my second choice after Chip Kelly. He has coached in the NFL, he runs the same offense we run now (only more run heavy), and he learned under Jim Harbaugh.
I don't think he will leave Stanford though.

He was our OL coach back in 1993 to 1995, under Belichick.
He is signed at Iowa through 2020, and has shown little interest in leaving the Hawkeyes ..... so I doubt that he's going anywhere soon. He seems to have found his dream job.

I think Chip Kelly is that firey type HC that could come in and give this team a spark ala Harbaugh and the 49ers.
Are we as talented as the 9ers? No of course not. But I still think he's a better offesive mind than Shurmur and Chilly combined, and already has years of HC experience on the 2nd biggest stage...
That's assuming we want to wait that long (After the NC Game, Jan 7th) to fill ur C position. We'd basically have to be married to him before then.
But hey, maybe we'll actually hire a GM before a HC again...

On the way in to work today, sitting in line for gas, I was thinking about our next coach. One poster mentioned previously that the Oregon offense seemed to require a mobile QB and that doesn't seem to fit Weedens style. I was also thinking that Kelleys offense might be a good fit with what the Eagles have in place. I do like the overall offensive philosophy of Chip Kelley though.
