All of your facts are true... how many television sets does UCONN potentially bring to a conference that they don't already have? That's really the most important thing to them...
I understand your point. Our alumni base isn't far reaching, and our fan base isn't the biggest. Having trouble selling tickets on the West Coast for our tourney basketball games when we wont the championship is part of it, having trouble selling tickets to the Fiesta Bowl too. But for me, and the rest of CT, this is a total disaster. Our athletics program is pretty good, and this has the potential of destroying everything.
I wish we could just pay our way in.............. Then we make a UConn Sports Tax and tell folks to pay up. Kinda like the Yankees on Cable subscribers with their TV Network. Now that's what I'm willing to pay for. NASA and UConn. Reach Warp speed in my lifetime and get UConn in a big-time sports conference again, and I'll sleep easy. Really, just get UConn in that conference, and i'll sleep easy again....... Instead it's 3:18 in Europe and I'm up thinking about UConn and my job security. What an awful duo to worry about.............

OSU vs Kansas is going to be a physical boxing match. I expect Kansas to throw some early haymakers. Wouldn't shock me if they lead 10+ early in the game. However I expect OSU to claw back and deliver a late knock out blow.

I'll put da team on my back doe
Amir Williams needs to put on his big boy pants today because he is the same size and has the same speed as Withey. It's going to take an incredible amount of effort on defense today.
I expect them to play as focused and intense like they did in the first half against Duke. Hopefully no 2nd half slip ups.

Ohio State is an average team. They will win 1-2 big games. Enter the tourney as a 4 seed and lose in the sweet 16 to a good mid major school. I don't see any hint of greatness.

I didn't see the game, but their stats are awful. 31% from the field, almost 25% from 3. Absolutely horrible shooting team. That will be their downfall. We have very few guys that could actually shoot. Plus no big guys to get easy looks. Horrible combination for any offense.

The worst part of all, it wasn't even that great of defense. We missed a TON of wide open looks. I felt like throwing up.

This made me laugh, from an SI tongue and cheek 2013 predictions article. Quote:
Feb. 14: With his team out of the Top 25, Kentucky coach John Calipari finds a loophole in the NCAA rules that allows him to bring in an entirely new group of freshmen midseason as long as Kentucky changes the name of its school. The university happily obliges.
.........
April 8: Michigan beats the University of Calitucky 81-78 to win the NCAA men's basketball championship.

Really wish Matta went after Alex Oriahki when he was transferring. 10 & 9 consistantly with solid defense out of the C spot would have been perfect.

Louisville's defense is suffocating, will be interested to see how Kentuckys youth responds.

I don't know how every one of their players don't foul out.
*Not complaining about the refs, because it's just how it is when you play Louisville. You're going to get abused when handling the ball, and it won't ever get called.

Gotta stop offensive rebounds and turnovers.
This is exactly the kind of game Louisville wants to play. Sloppy and ugly.
They struggle to score. They can't win a clean game, they gotta do it ugly.

Louisville dominated and enforced their style of play in the first half

"Every time I switch over to UK-Louisville, the Cards are committing 3 fouls and getting called for none."
Completely unbiased opinion from Dan Wolken from USA Today.
He sees it and doesn't have a dog in the fight. Just sayin'
Not an excuse though, gotta get more physical and match their intensity.

I'll go to my grave saying UL gets away with more fouls than anyone, but some Kentucky fans are acting like they didn't know this was the case coming into the game. We lost because we were 10-22 from the line

After having time to get over the loss, I have to say ...
It's hard to get too mad over Louisville "We're gonna hack you til they call it" mentality on defense.
Pitino won us a championship with the same method.

What do you guys think about using a late draft pick on Victor Oladipo. I see Thabo Sefolosha type of player off the bench.

This is embarrassing and there needs to be some changes. Unless Matta changes his philosophies this is a treadmill program. Running all day and not getting anywhere.

Sure seems like Matta can't develop talent, or some of these guys he recruited aren't that good. Thomas has really improved since his freshman year, buts guys like craft, smith jr, ross, williams, and scott havn't improved from year to year. It's alarming to see the same garbage game after game when they play good teams.
You also have to wonder with teams like Indiana and Michigan getting back on track, if matta will be able to be a top recruiter. I'm starting to wonder if we have peaked with this guy.

Really wish OSU would get more consistant production on offense out of LaQuinton Ross. The team badly needs a #2 guy and will have the entire regular season to find and develop one. When that happens, everything will click and the lights will go on for this squad.

This OSU team is frustrating. I understand losing at Duke. I understand losing at Kansas because they are a more experienced version of us. Same style of play and players. Getting crushed by Illinois was just embarrassing.

OSU deserved to win today. Great game though.
Actually more encouraged than discouraged.
Michigan is a really young team and I was waiting for the flat tire at some point.
Shot 38% from the field, 30% from 3 and almost stole a game on the road in which they trailed by 21. Just didn't quite have it today.
Burke gets the and 1 taken away, then rattles out the possible game winning 3. There seemed to just be something working against Michigan breaking through. Sometimes you just have those games. OSU made the 1 extra play they needed to to win.
Craft is a great defender but sheesh, he may as well have had a saddle on Burke for a few of those late possessions. He's one of the best on ball college defenders I've seen in a while but he also gets at least a little bit of special treatment. It's not the only reason he's effective (clearly and I'm not insinuating that) but in a game that was this close and against a very good PG, he was allowed to do things that maybe no other player would get away with. That isn't an attempt to flame, just an observation. He's allowed to be more physical with guards than any of the other games I've seen this season.

Really glad this squad is facing the best of the best in Duke and Kansas. Then they get ready facing the Big Ten. There will be nothing they haven't faced yet in the tourney. Just get in as a 4-5 seed at worst and get hot.

this is why I just cannot get into college basketball all that much until March. there's no point (other than watching for NBA prospects - love Shabazz).
you just lost to your chief rival and they ruined what had been a previously unbeaten season and your shot at the #1 overall ranking and you (and Beilein btw) seem satisfied with it.
i'm not faulting you. nothing in your comment is incorrect, I just think it's sad that the regular season has so little meaning in college basketball that it doesn't really even matter in rivalry games.
