he's young, he's cheap, he was pretty good in 2011 (yeah, only 1 out of 3 seasons), and we have a glaring need at ILB depth.

worst case, you cut him.

Worst case is that you waste time on him that you could have spent on players who will make the team.

One thing he does have going for him is that Trent Richardson thinks very highly of him, and said that he "looks up to him" last year.

I took a casual look at all of the veteran free agents available and realized that some of the depth this team needs will probably come from there.

One or two of these player coud help fill out the Browns' roster. I happen to like Larry Grant, back up ILB for SF, 28 yr old, veteran player, who has played well behind Patrick Willis.

He's a Buckeye, but that's not the point, he's a solid player.

I too like Larry Grant. He has played pretty well behind Willis and also being behind him never got enough snaps to show ability. I would be very happy if we could sign and plug next to Dqwell. Think would be good upgrade and shouldn't break the bank. Also would not give us the headaches of McClain. I didn't remember Grant being available, so thanks for refreshing my memory.

Why not line up with one of the TEs on one side and Little on the other side in the slot with Gordon outside of him. You could do that. But I see Little playing the slot quite a bit, It's where he is at his best.

I agree with that. Little catches more like a RB than a WR. In other words, he's most comfortable running across the field, with the ball coming in front of him where he can run to it, and track its flight all the way, as opposed to running down the field where he has to adjust to the ball in flight coming in from over his shoulder, over the top.

One nice thing is that Gordon makes those kind of catches look effortless. He sees that type of pass coming, and doesn't even break stride for a second.

Josh's slant rant is just a thing of beauty. and the best part, it's consistent route running when he does it. Weeden has made those throws well too. I hope to see more of them.

Little can stretch the field too. I agree he is better working the slot/middle. He is a wrecking ball after the catch too and very physical.

We really have the type of weapons to get the defense on their heels if we want to run an attacking offense Chud claims. We have deep threats in Gordon and Travis, and middle/flat threats in Little and Norwood, and most all of them are interchangeable. Might be sending Gordon on a post one play, Little on a post the next!

I just can't wait to see this offense and without defenses stacking the box, TRich and company going to ground and pound...

i would roll the dice on Rolando McClain- these are sometimes the moves that really can improve a team. If it doesn't work- move on to the next guy. I think this is one of those cases where the money just kind of got out of control for a player. IF he's learned from his mistakes, he could really take off in Horton's defense.

Jamarcus Russell was mentioned- i just can't see him making it in a come back. You just can't fix STUPID.

Let's hope that Carson Palmer convinces the Bruce Arians that he needs that LT to protect him and that they move up to the Browns spot to nab the last remaining 'top notch' LT and gives us a second rounder in the mix.

Raiders | Wanted to bring back Desmond Bryant

The Oakland Raiders wanted to re-sign DT Desmond Bryant but did not want to get into further salary cap trouble to match the Cleveland Browns' offer.

I think it was a great move. I'm very happy with the signings we made as a whole. Of course, I would like to have signed a solid FS and a corner, but you can't make players play for you.

I am irked at Baltimore snagging Dumervil, though.

I am as well. I think we did a great job. We missed on a player or two, but as you said, they have to be a interested participant in the process.

And it may not be over. There are still several players who would be considered upgrades, and not just at the bottom of the roster. Some may go against Banners "MO", but that doesn't mean we won't or can't bring in a 33 year old guard who has 2-3 good years in the tank. At this point in the process, the guys still out there would be pretty happy with a 2-3 year deal, so the cost would be reasonable.

As it said in the article.....maybe after the draft. Lets see who we end up getting, then we can mop up the sloppy spots with a older vet here and there if need dictates.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Lions release Brian Robiskie

Posted by Mike Wilkening on April 8, 2013, 6:32 PM EDT

The Lions released wide receiver Brian Robiskie on Monday, per the NFL’s transaction report.

Robiskie caught four passes for 44 yards in six games for Detroit last season, including a touchdown in the season finale against Chicago. The Lions signed Robiskie on Oct. 24, 2012, the same day the club placed Nate Burleson on injured reserve.

A second-round pick of the Browns in 2009, Robiskie has hauled in 43 passes for 485 yards and four touchdowns in four NFL seasons. He has made 14 career starts, all with Cleveland from 2009 through 2011.

Brian Robiskie’s release leaves the Lions with 10 wide receivers on the roster. His father, Terry, is the Falcons’ wide receivers coach.

What happened? He wasn't that good. He is a kid who worked hard as heck for his Pops, had top notch coaching to be the best he could be......but he came up a little short.

I myself appaud Brian Robiskie. A kid who should probably have never made it, but through grit, and effort, made it 4 years in the show.....maybe a bit of a connection, but I don't want to diminish the point.

Robiskie had the talent to play 20 years in the NFL but he never had the desire. My big knock on him coming out was that the guy never seemed like he was having fun playing the game. I think he played the game because of his dad's love for the game but he just never had that same love of the game.

They say you can't judge desire, I say bull. The guys that want it more than anything it shows in how they play the game. Its why people rally around those players with the great desire. Are you willing to cut off the pinky to play the game? lol

Dansby would fit with Ravens

If the Ravens don't draft an inside linebacker who can step in right away, they might take a look at unrestricted free agent Karlos Dansby, a former Miami Dolphin.

Dansby has had over 100 tackles the last two seasons with the Dolphins including a career high 134 last year. He is 31 and healthy, and was let go soon after Miami signed former Raven Dannell Ellerbe in the offseason.

Dansby is also good in coverage having knocked down nine passes last season, also a career high.

---------------------------------

Where do you think will he go if he only has post-draft one year offers on the table? Cleveland or Baltimore?

Not an OSU fan nor big fan on drafting WR high. But there has to be some other story behind Robo...we know its not drugs. When he was on the field which was not too often and the ball was thrown to him...he seemed to make the catches. No dropsies. Hard to tell if he was running the wrong routes. But there had to be more to it than just he sucked cause I didn't see the "SUCK" part when he was on the field.

Whatever it was it had to follow him after he left here so it wasn't a Cleveland thing. Although Jags had similar problems with us regarding no QB. Lions was perfect environment for him as Calvin has to get all the attention. I know when he was here he refused to participate on Special Teams that got him in Mangini's dawg house.

I mean maybe he didn't have greatness in his future but he should have been a solid WR by working hard n study his trade to perfection. He had to not put the effort in to become an NFL WR??? very puzzling. Maybe he just didn't like football.

Its what I'm afraid about Gordon. I hope he continues to work hard to become the best WR cause he is gifted.

Good post.

I agree that there must have been some other issue w/Robo. I really thought he was going to be a very solid--not spectacular--WR in the NFL. I was dead wrong. Wonder what his issue was?

I worry about Gordon. He succumbed to the weed multiple times in college despite many warnings. He tailed off at the end of the season and then add in Banner's comments about him needing to work hard and I wonder...
