I am curious. To all you Colt haters out there who think he is worthless why do you assume Colt is proven to be worse because he got traded? I think its the total opposite.

The 49ers went to the superbowl last year and almost won it thanks to a large part in how their backup QB played. Do you not possibly think the 49ers view their backup QB as valuable? I think it's safe that they do.

Colt keeps getting blasted for supposedly having a noodle arm(which he doesn't)yet the 49er's got rid of Alex because his arms didn't allow him to make the throws their offense runs. Still they give up draft picks including a 5th rounder, which is respectable, to make sure we were not going to cut Colt(never was going to happen IMHO) and put him on the open market.

So in short, a team that almost won the superbowl last year thought enough of Colt as a QB to give up draft picks to have him play in their vertical offense as their #2. To some, that would make you wonder.

The part about 'Colt haters' is hilarious... nobody here is hatin' on Colt. That word reminds me of some idiots in society who cannot take the slightest hint of criticism... no, they must be hatin'!

Seriously, what is the difference when you imply that anything negative said about a player is because they are hating?

You make it sound like Colt is getting the Art, LeBron, or even Braylon treatment.

QBs in the NFL are in the spotlight. Many NFL fans are very passionate about their teams and rightly or wrongly, QBs get a lot of the praise when things go well and a lot of the blame when things don't. Do you seriously think that criticism of QBs is even remotely exclusive to Cleveland. No-- it happens in pretty much every city where there isn't a franchise QB (and some where there is.) Maybe see how Matt Cassel, Donovann McNabb, Tony Romo, or 'Wrecks' Grossman feel about that.

That the 49ers "got rid of" Alex Smith is a little bit of a stretch. As I remember the trades they got an early 2013 2nd rounder AND 2014 2nd or 3rd rounder for Smith, and sent out a late 5 and late 7 for Colt and an early 6th. They also saved over $6million in cap space with that swap.

Hey, I look at Colt as more of a 3rd QB or fringe backup. I respect the heck out of the 49ers and if they view him as a legit backup so be it. I can't think of a better situation to be in. Maybe they will feed Colt whatever the heck it is they are giving those linemen. Colt is one of those guys who is a leader, takes initiative, and works hard. I still think the 49ers are in trouble if Kaepernick goes down for an extended period of time, but that is true of most teams in the NFL.

FWIW, but nfl.com has the Browns owning pick 173 and the 49ers pick 175

Most wished for us to make a trade that looked like the worse...I was curious which 6th rounder we were giving. 2 spots...but many were making a big deal about 173 going...So we moved up from the 175 spot. Now its a GREAT DEAL

So in short, they're paying back-up money for the same noodle arm they would have been paying a fortune for with Smith.

Smith makes a ton of money and no team pays a back-up that kind of money. they play the WCO and we'll see how things pan out in san fran before you call him "help" there.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
