Davone Bess - WR - Browns
Browns acquired WR Davone Bess from the Dolphins. Bess was nothing more than a sure-handed slot receiver in Miami, catching 321 passes over five seasons but averaging just 10.7 yards per grab and scoring a mere 12 touchdowns in 77 games. It's still a low-risk grab for the Browns, who have have Josh Gordon and Greg Little outside but question marks inside in the form of David Nelson. Bess, still just 27, has a good chance to emerge as the Browns' primary slot man this season.
Next years 2nd rounder. KIDDING! No report yet on what we gave Miami.

Everything I'm seeing says 'a mid-round pick'.

Hopefully a 5th. Probably a 4th, though.

If it's a 4th or a 5th, that seems like a small price to pay for a solid possesion guy.

I'm okay with either one. For a 4th/5th, we're getting a solid, proven, possession receiver.
Guys drafted that late typically don't pan out anyway, and Bess is proven.

I'd classify 'mid-round' as 3rd or 4th. After that I'd call it 'late-round'.
That's just me, though.

Heard it's swapping picks in two separate rounds. That would be awesome if true!

Why do you find it necessary to constantly degrade other people on the board?
We're all football fans. Some know more than others, but we're all here to talk Browns football.
It's getting really irritating.

Because he is an expert and that's what experts do! In other news, we swapped picks with the Dolphins in the fourth round and some other round. So we didn't actually give up any picks. Link

Fins sight has the Browns giving them our fourth round pick. The fans are sad to see him go. Guess we wont have much action tonight except for the third round pick.

From Plain Dealer: Quote:
In exchange for Bess, the Browns swapped spots with the Dolphins in two rounds Saturday. In the fourth round, the Dolphins moved up to the 104th overall pick, and the Browns dropped to the 111th. In the fifth round, the Dolphins will now pick 139th, and the Browns 146th.

We gave up nothing and got a pretty good slot receiver.

If I'm a Dolphins fan, I don't get it. Bess has had at least 50 receptions in all of his first 5 seasons. Trade a 27 year old, reliable, slot WR for 7 draft slots? In the 4th and 5th? Pretty much a steal for the Browns.

My only thought is that the Chiefs wanted to get to a certain spot in the draft if they traded Albert. But it seems like that deal is dead anyway.
It's not like the Dolphins are overflowing with wide receiver talent.

Good move by the Browns. Probably won't see Dj, Pit, mac, 32, Memphis, etc on this thread from here on out. Unless, my calling them out-------calls them out. LOL

this is a good move for the Browns..if you just lose 7 pick slots in two rounds for a proven slot reciever and new 3 yr deal [ big plus]

Wow. Great move by the Browns. When I saw on NFL network we traded for Bess and had only swapped picks I thought "OK we trade back in rounds 3 and 4 good deal." Now we find out it's a trade back in the 4th and 5th???............we freaking stole a quality player for nothing!!!

COOL I was against trading picks for Bess, but trading back in the 4th and 5th? Good move. We got a reliable WR. I like it!

Ok, receiver core should be shored up now...
Front seven, pretty deep...
DB extremely thin...
We going Honey Bear in the 3rd?
