We traded with pitt, they took Shamarko Thomas, Safety. Hope we fleeced them.
Statistics are like a bikini; what they show is interesting, but what they hide is vital. Drive for show (1st round), Putt for dough (rest of draft).

Same old Browns. Have a big need at safety, the #1 player on the board is a safety, we trade the pick to Pittsburgh and they draft him. Kind of unbelievable really. Only reasonable explanation is they WAY overpaid to move up.

The Giants made a pick.....let's completely ignore the rest of the draft. I frickin' hate ESPN.

Horrible coverage right now by ESPN. No mention of the trade results or what just happened.

They were comparing him to Bob Sanders on NFL Network, good job of making the division stronger Browns.

We trade with our hated rival and that is a reason to hate the FO yet they traded with us and they are brilliant? How about we don't like Banner because he has simple common halitosis? You don't even know what we got in return yet.

If that's all we get then not bad, but I would like a pick this year as well. However two thirds next year isn't bad.

Pretty much makes no sense.
So we traded a mid round 4th this year for what is likely a back half 3rd next?
Gaining half or 3/4 a round, to hand deliver a player to your rival, is just a dumb trade IMO.
Especially when the player in that slot was a need and the BPA.
Obviously if they Steelers bottom out it will look like a brilliant move but if that pick is #20 or lower in the round, I just really don't like it.

By the looks of it, I'd guess that whoever we were targeting went off the board (Syracuse QB?), so we took future value over a second or third-tier choice.

Do we even get a pick in this round? If not we allow Pitt to select twice in this round so far. That is absolutely inexcusable.

I never really understood the taboo of trading with a division rival. Don't get me wrong, you have to factor in that you will be playing them twice a year and competing for a division, so you probably don't want to give one of those teams a franchise QB. But a mutually beneficial trade is a mutually beneficial trade.
Me I like trading a 2nd rounder for a 1st rounder, a 3rd rounder for a 2nd rounder, and as the case here, a 4th rounder for a 3rd rounder. Anything else we got is just gravy.

First trade between the Browns and the Steelers since 1968, says ESPN-Cleveland. They are also saying we traded out because the Giants took Nassib, FWIW.

I think the Browns wanted the qb from Syracuse and when he was gone they decided to go ahead and make the most hated team in Ohio better. What a bunch of clowns. 3rd round next year? I'd say there is a 50-50 chance that the browns will have a whole new front office next year (and owner). Same old Cleveland Browns. It's depressing knowing you don't have a shot and the season is months away. Hello 4-12.

Draft rule 101: NEVER trade with a division Rival.
Remember i lambasted Phil Savage for trading with the Ravens...they got Ngata...we got stuck with Gumby!
Now we most likely just handed the Steelers a future HOF at S and we get pretty much nothing....brilliant!

When Banner said we wouldn't full all the needs this year, I guess none of us realized that it meant because he was throwing picks away. This is one of the most puzzling moves I can remember.

Getting a 3rd next year for a 4th this year. I would take that all day long. Lets face it Shemarko Thomas will not put them in the super bowl. It's not like we got out of the way and gave them a franchise changing player. We gave them a role player and improved our future status. Who knows that piece could be used as a trade for a proven player yet this off season. Calm down folks!!!!

When ever the next press conference happens with this front office, they need to be grilled for this one. I can't imagine any rational to explain this as a good move. I wanted a safety in the 4th round, maybe a TE. Know there is nothing. Wow, just wow.

Exactly. We missed out on a fourth round Strong Safety when we already have a SS. Plus he's listed at 5'9" which really cuts deeper. And all we got out of it was a third rounder next year who could be better than who we would have taken there. Man this stinks.

Yeah, it's really going to suck having that middle round 3rd round pick next year. Some of you are absolutely over the moon with your hate of all things Banner and Lombardi.
you had a good run Hank.

Then clearly these guys are dumber than I thought.
So we wanted Nassib, the cost to trade up was likely a collection of second day picks (4th and a 5th?) and instead we sit pat, let a team jump us, then make a trade with Pittsburgh for BPA?
Cue the Clown cars on that one. Instead we're left with a pick next year, that likely isn't much better than the one we traded and no player to coach up or plug in to help this year?
I don't get it.
