Didn't [Revis] have a "meh" year for the Bucs? I suppose he's still kind of young at 28, but CB's don't normally play at a high level 30 and beyond.

He was among the best corners in the league by every measure.

I'd rather just spend a 3rd rounder on a CB.

Instead of Revis? Huh?

Do they have anyone outside of Johnson as pass threats now? I wouldn't mind one bit Owen being on THIS roster. Him and Jordan would be a beast TE combo... with that type of ammo, Kyle could run two TE sets all day, everyday lol...

Cowboys cut DeMarcus Ware

Ware has been a star for a long time. End of an era in Dallas. Ware can still help someone.

Maybe I didn't notice he had a good year because it was in Tampa and they STUNK.

As for the idea of Revis or a 3rd rounder, a draft pick is cheaper and younger. Sure, not as good as Revis might be this next year, but if the draftee is good, it's a better decision. Ya know, "build through the draft". That's all I was saying.

Trying to find a starter in the 3rd rd. much less a good one is hard enough in the first round let alone in the 3rd.

A trade for Darrelle Revis by the #Bucs is now considered unlikely. He won’t cut his pay to join the #Browns. Others willing to wait.

Ian Rapoport, Twitter

We will still have a shot at him, but so will other teams. Guys like Vontae Davis and Sam Shields are getting $9 million a year, I would say Revis gets around $12 million a year.

Buccaneers | Darrelle Revis trade looking more unlikely
Tue, 11 Mar 2014 17:10:59 -0700

A trade of CB Darrelle Revis by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is now considered unlikely. There was a discussion with the Cleveland Browns about a deal, but he will not cut his pay to join the Browns. Other teams are willing to wait.

I understand not wanting a cut in pay. I understand possibly not wanting to play for what's considered a non contender. I don’t know how Revis thinks but man a chance to pair with Haden and be considered possibly the strongest CB pairing in a long time would be awesome.

Most of these guys I'm sure aren't thinking like that...

My guess is that he can agree to restructure and be traded to a team he had no say in selecting, or he can sit tight and wait for the very likely chance that there will be a bidding war tomorrow and he will get to choose his destination. It's win-win for him.

As for us trading for him and being able to restructure a certain degree...yes, we can, but obviously the numbers we still end up with are a little unpalatable. Maybe we're just exhausting all possibilities before just pulling the trigger on it as-is?

--Ware was cut? Wow! Guy is a great player.

--Owen Daniel was cut? Is he hurt? Guy is a very good TE.

--Revis? Is he even close to what he was before the injury? I doubt it, but didn't watch enough of TB to be sure.

Daniels was put most of last year with a broken fibula

I love him on and off the field - I've gotten to chat with him a few times and he'd be a great pick up if he's healthy... That's been his biggest negative....has had trouble staying healthy

I think we need to pull the trigger on the deal if its a 3rd or less. Basically a series of 1 year deals. Insurance for Haden. We cant get a CB in the draft at Revis level, much less in the 3rd.

Rework the deal during the year if possible.

Vers to answer your question. I think Revis struggled during the beginning of the season but played well later in the season. I remember watching him either on Thurs or Monday night game and they showed a montage of him in man and were gushing about how well he played. Criticized the coaching for not running more man and playing to his strengths. I believe it was the game against Carolina. I will try to find a clip.

Bucs announce the release of LT Donald Penn, a move many expected given TB's pursuit of T Anthony Collins. I'd expect a quick trip to OAK

New England Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork has asked the team to release him after 10 seasons, according to sources.

NFL Network, citing sources, first reported Wilfork was seeking his release.

Wilfork is in the final year of his contract and was scheduled to earn a base salary of $7.5 million and count $11.6 million against the salary cap. Sources previously told ESPNBoston.com that the Patriots recently approached Wilfork about altering his contract.

Wilfork, a team captain who joined the Patriots as a first-round draft choice in 2004, was limited to four games last season because of a torn Achilles.

The 32-year-old is a five-time Pro Bowler and has been one of the NFL's premier run-stuffers, displaying uncommon athleticism for a player his size (6-foot-2, 325 pounds).

He's also been a fixture in the area, earning the team's community service award in 2010.

We cut a few guys while the board was down. The main one being the fullback Pressley that we just signed.

We signed undrafted free agent Ray Agnew....maybe Pressley didn't spend enough time going over the playbook and didn't know what he was doing.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Came on, instantly voted captain... good depth at OLB, great special teamer (where he held his captain title here) and veteran presence in the locker room.

Wonder what the heck went down there with Groves? Maybe they feared for his health?
