Another stupid comment by haslam....the kid cant be trusted...he has been busted for drugs what....6 times now counting college? trade the punk....dont give him a slap on the back and your word of support! haslam should have said..."hey, we are very disappointed in josh. This was a selfish act and we have no room for that on this team". Instead he babies him...lets him off the hook...which is why josh keeps doing this over and over because someone always tells him he is a good little boy.
Honestly....i wouldnt even be surprised if josh doesnt care he is getting suspended. More time for him to lay around and smoke weed with his homies.

Even if Gordon is suspended for half a year, every year, he still helps the team better than 99% of 7th roud picks.
I'm raising the question because the odds are,based on his history of doing this,that he will do it again.And he won't be playing for half a year the next time either.They will suspend him for a full year..ect. So I'm wondering what the options are for CLE. I love the guys talent,and wish he could play...but he just hasn't been able to keep it together.

I can't help think there's more to this report that all parties are letting on.
As one poster said earlier, why did ESPN release the info right at the time of the draft, just smacks of editorial drama-hype. According to the story, everyone was well aware in advance. Why not release the story earlier?
And Rosenhouse (sp), was very quick to respond to in a negative way to the report, calling the report false. You can bet he'll pursue every possible avenue. He's got way too much to lose if this goes south.
And why are / did the Browns react in such a calm fashion? I know league rules, but still.
Why have we heard about 2 or 3 other finalized suspensions from the league, and not a word or even the predictable leek from an "league insider"? Yes I have considered the appeal angle, that will take time to run it's coarse.
And why would Josh be so out there in the media knowing he was toast for a long period of time, weird. I mean if I just screwed up ROYALY, I wouldn't be more public than I've ever been.
I could just be P ing in the wind here, but things are just not adding up. how can you smoke a joint after the best yr. of your life & kiss off millions....can it be that cut & dry?

Anyway, I would be shocked if they suspend Josh for one full year WHILE rewriting the policy to lessen the penalty. It's no coincidence these two things come out within days of each other.
If true, no way he's out all year.

at best we get half a year this year from him. druing offseason he will get caught and be out forever. that's if he can stay clean for the 8 weeks and bye week lol.
Exactly my point. There's a decent chance he may never be clean enough to play again. Five failed drug tests tell that tale. A 7th rounder is going to play assuming you keep him in your roster.
Josh isn't out of chances in the NFL for sure. He'll keep getting chances, but they'll all be very low risk chances. I think teams in the NFL value a 7th round selection more than what you can rely on Josh for right now.
I need some help here,, When did he fail 5 drug tests?
I know of the one coming out of college... I know of the one that cost him a couple of game last year. I know of this one now. that's three! I don't know where the other two are?

Remove pot from the testing altogether.
The purpose of the testing is (should be) to look for PED's. With marijuana becoming legal in more and more places, it makes little sense to test for it as if it were illicit (actually, it never made sense except from a public relations viewpoint).
If the guys want to drink, they can drink. If they want to smoke, let them smoke. If they get in trouble while doing either... hammer them hard, but if they aren't harming anyone and aren't breaking any laws where/when they do it, then why care at all?

October 2010, during his sophomore year, he and teammate Willie Jefferson were found asleep at a local Taco Bell. Police found marijuana in Jefferson’s car. Jefferson, who was driving, was kicked off the team due to it being his second violation, but Gordon was only suspended.
In July 2011, Gordon was suspended indefinitely by head coach Art Briles, for later failing a drug test and testing positive for marijuana.
In August 2011, Gordon transferred to Utah, where he sat out the 2011 season declaring too late for the 2011 Supplemental Draft.

So we are watering down consequences for the "victims" of discipline by the NFL. This should do it for him. Not to sidetrack here, but what does a player have to do to get thrown out of the NFL for a time, or even for life? I mean short of conviction and imprisonment. The NFL seems to have a pretty forgiving track record.

Well obviously the HR dept. would have to deem it credible, but what would sending me for a random drug screen and me passing do for someone who is just angry with me? I got hit with a random three quarters in a row, takes only a few minuets of my day, it's not like it's an inconvenience.

That's what HR's do many times. Obviously they would not come in and say "So and So accused you of smoking pot so we are sending you for a Random,", they would take the information, if they deem it credible then they would just inform me that I have been selected for a random screening. Even though it's not random I would have no idea that they are sending me because someone said something.

If the NFL votes to relax its pot policy, then this is my prediction as to what will happen with Gordon.
He will face a penalty similar to last year, with a 2 game suspension, and a loss of 4 game checks. (assuming that his sin was pot, and that his test falls within the new policy) They can't let him off altogether, and the union isn't going to let them ban him for a year over an offense that has been changed to a non-offense.

Random in that sense just means "not a regular schedule", it doesn't mean they pull a number out of a hat and if it's yours you go. It just means they pick and choose when you go for whatever reason.
Maybe they saw you get 2 bags of chips from the vending machine instead of the usual one. Sign of the munchies.
