I would agree w/that.

To tell you the truth, bro.........................I can't stand Obama. I hate his health care plan. I just know a racist/bigot when I see one and MillCreek is certainly that.

I am also so freaking sick of labels. On BOTH SIDES! We argue thing based on participism rather than on what is right or wrong. Gawd, I am so freaking sick of reading the words "liberals," conservatives," "right wingers," "left wingers," etc.

And all the freaking morons who run our country can't see how this division is and refusal to compromise is killing our country. We're stuck in a quagmire of indecision and meanwhile, the national debt continues to accelerate.

Let's ignore the national debt which is destined to blow apart our great country and lets continue to assign labels to the other side. Wise move that is fed by winning more votes from a group of people is fueled on more by ideology than by intelligence and an understanding of how to best secure our future.

I know Mill from the brownschat board, and while he is a very hard rightwinger I have never seen him be a racist or a bigot. he is as conservative as they come but I can't bash him for that just like I don't bash people who are just as far to the left.

I agree 110 percent buddy.

Once again I have to agree 110 percent.

I'm speaking about American workers who owned homes and lost those homes because their jobs were taken by illegal immigrants. The construction trades were decimated in that regard.

You are talking about two separate issues as it suits your purpose. When illegal workers come in and work for far less pay, it hurts the American work force. Business embraces it at the cost of American families.

Now you can go ahead and change the subject again if you like, but these people had no problem paying for their homes until their jobs went to illegal immigrants.

This didn't just magically come about when Obama was elected.

More jobs are lost to government manipulation of our economic system than anything. Our country currently has the 2nd highest corporate taxes in the world, and we lose a lot of business overseas. Horizon Pharma just decided to move from the US to Ireland for the 11% tax rate. Illegals tend to take lower paying jobs and make that pay even lower.

I fell victim to the tech bubble the government created. I was working in the DC area in the late 90s. Great pay, great raises, great bennies. What I didn't realize at the time was the government was propping up companies, like DSL sellers, by giving them subsidies. A $100 DSL line sold by Verizon to a customer was sold to smaller DSL companies for $60, and a subsidy for the remainder was paid by the government. This was part of Clinton's plan to spur the growing internet industry. When the subsidies stopped in early 2001, the tech market crashed. My entire company moved back to Canada, leaving no US footprint. No illegals involved. My career path tends not to have many illegals in it.

Yes, construction and lower skilled jobs lose out to illegals. Companies that hire illegals should be fined and those illegal deported. Our borders should be closed, and our government should have a viable immigration policy that does not hurt the people in this country. I'm sure we agree on that. My point is that government policies, including the current lack of immigration enforcement, hurt the economy. The worst one we have going on right now is the Fed pumping money into the stock market. The Black Friday crash was caused by people buying stock on credit. This policy it no better, and we will all eventually suffer. The federal government should only be in charge of the military, treaties, immigration, and interstate commerce. All other services should come from the states. The best government is the smallest that is closest to the people.

They didn't really "move" they're just operating under Ireland's laws. Google has a subsidiary there that they transfer a lot of their most profitable patents to to avoid US and California taxes. However they're still a California and US Company by all means.

No, they're an Irish company now. Instead of the US getting the taxes, they'll be paying taxes at a significantly lower rate. If the US would lower those corporate rates, more companies would come back and base their companies here. We have the better infrastructure and the better employees, but the taxes suck. We need to broaden the tax base, not raise the rates. That is what Ireland is doing right now, and companies are flocking to them.

You mean all the bank tellers that lost their jobs due to ATMs, like the president says? Technology doesn't lose jobs, it changes jobs. For every machine that replaces someone, it creates at least one more job. Someone has to take care of those machines, from creating, programming, and maintaining them.

The illegals push out lower wage, unskilled workers. High taxes send jobs overseas, slow innovation, and kills smaller companies.

How much lower can you go, though, without putting yourself on par with a banana republic?

What's our effective corporate tax rate? 12-13%?

You can't really operate at at the level some of these other countries do when you run the war machine like we do, and have as many marginalized citizens you have to pay off like we do.

Just makes you wanna shake your head in disbelief.
This is Canada's Top Ten List of America's Stupidity
Of course we look like idiots .... because we are.

Number 10) Only in America...could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000.00 per plate campaign fund-raising event.

Number 9) Only in America ...could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when they have a black President, a black Attorney General and roughly> 20% of the federal workforce is black while only 14% of the population is black 40+% of all federal entitlements goes to black Americans - 3X the rate that go to whites, 5X the rate that go to Hispanics!

Number 8) Only in America...could they have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner (the head of the Treasury Department) and Charles Rangel (who once ran the Ways and Means Committee), BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.

Number 7) Only in America...can they have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash.

Number 6) Only in America...would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege, while they discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just 'magically' become American citizens (probably should be number one).

Number 5) Only in America....could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country's Constitution be thought of as “extremist”.

Number 4) Only in America...could you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote.

Number 3) Only in America...could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public because the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. Oil company (Marathon Oil) is less than half of a company making tennis shoes (Nike).

Number 2) Only in America does the IRS collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a Trillion dollars more than it has per year - for total spending of $7-Million PER MINUTE, and complain that it doesn't have nearly enough money.

And Number 1) Only in America...could the rich people- who pay 86% of all income taxes - be accused of not paying their "fair share" by people who don't pay any income taxes at all.

Your article is crap. But #6 is definitely BS

My wife's visa cost 1500 and we waited a whooping 8 months.

It cost 420 for the I-130 petition and 1077 for the rest of the process.

Also, I believe it's called the I-485 or something for work authorization while the visa process is going on, letting them get a SSN so they can get a drivers license and work until the fingerprinting process.

State.gov. You might wanna check your articles facts before posting it as truth.

During times like the 90s when things were booming the construction industry needed illegals because they simply had more work than they had people to do it. (though illegals have been prominent in construction for a long time) Illegals filled that void... The the economy slowed, sputtered, rose again, then collapsed.. during those far more uncertain times, the construction companies were scrambling to try to find work and keep the doors open... so to be competitive, the $18/hour experienced citizen was let go and the $12/hour illegal was kept...

I will say this though, there are still parts of the country today that just don't have enough skilled craftsmen in a lot of the trades... so I'm not doubting when you say you saw it happen because so did I... but there just aren't enough people (citizens) getting into the business to do the work.

That's one of the reasons I'm not a big fan of low bid construction. I think it is one of the worst models out there for getting work done.

It's like the old adage in construction, "We will deliver your project on time, at the lowest cost, and of the highest quality... pick which two you want." Because if you want it quick and cheap, quality will suffer.. if you want it quick and high quality, it will cost you... if you want it cheap and high quality.. it's going to take longer.

I don't discount some of the things you say. However, at the time I was speaking of, from say 1999 through 2004, the general contractor that I was employed to, actually had sub contractors who were companies that employed all Americans. So in my case, it wasn't a shortage of people that caused this situation.

Those sub contractors were replaced by companies that worked illegals. It was strictly a cost cutting move. Some of the employees I knew working for the previous sub contractors told me it was happening with many of the contractors they were subbing from and putting them out of work almost entirely.

It's a natural progression for Americans to no longer go into the building trades. Why would they? As you stated, many years ago, they would make a very good wage which would give them a decent living. Wages have actually gone down in some of those trades because now with such a huge influx on illegals taking up those trades, people no longer are willing to pay such wages.

I believe that's the cause of the shortage of Americans going into the building trades these. If I were a young man starting out, under the current conditions, I would never consider the building trades.

But you are 100% correct in that the quality of work suffered a great deal when the Americans were replaced by illegal workers. While I'm sure they were much cheaper, it showed.

This is what is wrong with so many people, they take chain letters or Fox news (yes that was a jab) as their source for factual information and then base their beliefs on it.

Me personally I like data, if you search and scrutinize the data hard enough it will tell you the truth on many issues. The data doesn't lie people do.

If we're being honest here, the Pharma company has no idea what they're doing, even tax wise. California and, I believe, the U.S. let's you count going negative as tax deductible. But then again Horizon has yet to make a profit since it has gone public and it wasn't because of the U.S. tax rates. But again, you're thinking of the change in scenery like a factory and less like what it really is, just a tax loophole. The CEO of Horizon and his people are still American, not Irish.

If we want to change things, then we should push CEO's and businesses out of U.S. Government. Take away their contracts, find new people to do it. American contracts should only be for American companies.

So you admit that you got your factual information from a chain email. Then you defend the email saying it's true with absolute zero supporting information.

The above "intellectuals" fit this to a tea.

1) Being Open Minded: To a liberal, this has nothing at all to do with seriously considering other people's ideas. To the contrary, liberals define being "open-minded" as agreeing with them. What could be more close-minded than assuming that not only are you right, but that you don't even need to consider another viewpoint because anyone who disagrees must be evil?

2) Racism: Liberals start with the presumption that only white people who don't belong to the Democratic Party can be racist. So, for example, even if Jeremiah Wright can make it clear that he hates white people because of their skin color or if liberals take an explicitly racist political position, like suggesting that black people are too stupid and incompetent to get identification to vote, they can't be racist. White Republicans, on the other hand, are generally assumed to be racist by default, no matter how much evidence there is to the contrary.

3) Fairness: In all fairness, I must admit that fairness is an arbitrary concept. So, you could make the argument that no one could get "fairness" wrong. Still, liberals do because they don't make any effort to actually "be fair." As a practical matter, liberals define "fairness" as taking as much as possible from people who they don't think are going to vote for them and giving it to people who may vote for them in return for their ill gotten largesse. Certainly conservatives, libertarians, and moderates might disagree about how much money to take from the wealthy to redistribute to the poor or how to help the disadvantaged, but the only liberal answer to the question, "How much is enough?" is "more."

4) Greed: To a liberal, believing that you pay too much in taxes or even opposing paying more in taxes is greedy. In actuality, wanting to loot as much money as possible that someone else has earned to use for your own purposes, which is what liberals do, is a much better example of greed.

5) Hate: Liberals often define simple disagreement with them on issues like gay marriage, tax rates, or abortion as hatred. No matter how well a position is explained, or the logical underpinnings behind it, it's chalked up to hate. Meanwhile, the angriest, most vicious, most hateful people in all of politics are liberals railing against what they say is "hatred." This irony is completely lost on the Left.

6) Investment: Actual investments involve putting money or resources into a project in hopes that they will appreciate in value. Liberals skip the second half of that equation. To them, an "investment" is taking someone else's tax dollars and putting it into a project that liberals approve of and whether a profit is made or lost is so irrelevant that they typically don't even bother to measure the results.

7) Charity: Contributing your own money or time to a good cause is charity. Liberals view themselves as charitable if they take someone else's tax dollars and give it away to people they hope will vote for them in return. At a minimum, they should at least credit the taxpayers who paid for the money they gave away for the charity, although it's not really charity if it's involuntary. Of course, there's nothing charitable about asking someone else to sacrifice for your gain, which could actually be better described as selfish.

8) Patriotism: Liberals love America the way a wife beater loves his spouse. That's why they're always beating up the country "for its own good." Doesn't the country understand that liberals have to hit it in the mouth because they LOVE IT SO MUCH?!?!? Of course, the conventional definition of patriotism, which is loving your country and wishing it well, isn't one that liberals can wrap their heads around.

9) Tolerance: In a free, open, and pluralistic society, there are all sorts of behaviors that we may have to tolerate, even though we don't approve of those activities. Liberals don't get this distinction. For one thing, they don't understand the difference between tolerance and acceptance. They also don't extend any of the tolerance they're agitating for to people who disagree with them. Liberals silence people who disagree with them at every opportunity which is, dare we say it, an extremely intolerant way to behave.

10) Diversity: What liberals mean by "diversity" is that they want a broad range of people from different races, colors, and creeds who have identical political views. A black or Hispanic conservative doesn't contribute to "diversity" in liberal eyes because he actually has diverse views. Incredible role models for women like Sarah Palin can't be feminists to liberals because she doesn't share the same liberal beliefs as sexist pigs like Anthony Weiner and Bill Maher. How can you have any meaningful "diversity" when everyone has to think the same way?

Have you ever taken the time to notice that nothing you post has any substance to it whatsoever?

You constantly post weak opinion pieces that lack substance, and when people point this out, your fallback is to call them liberals (and usually post another empty calorie, poorly written opinion piece, decorated with a string of emoticons).

Have you ever taken the time to notice that this fits you to a T. And most of your pompous arguments prove that you really are ignorant and fall for most of the main stream slant. You could wear the following on your forehead.

What is your proof?

Have you even studied history?

Seriously?

Because he is America's first true socialist President.

Obama Care is an attack on freedom like no president has ever attempted in the past.

When his presidency started Russia was working on being a Capitalistic society. By the time his presidency ends the Cold War may be back.

He pulled out of Iraq to quickly and all gains are being lost quickly by terrorists who hate the USA.

Lets not forget the dollar losing value under his watch.

Freedom has been under attack and our President is leading the charge. Gun Control, redistributing wealth, many more examples. I do not think I need to go on.

So to answer his question...no?

I think your post is a very succinct example of everyone whose opinion has no basis in reality.

The Socialist President followed the time-table set by his predecessor, did he not?

I love this. You mean his failed gun control proposal and his massive tax hikes that haven't really passed. Nothing has passed in this Congress since ObamaCare. A right-wing think tank published a report that President Obama has authored 442 tax increased in his terms. Politifact easily pulled that number down to around 200. Of these tax hikes, at least 25% were allowing Bush Era tax cuts to expire. My other least favorite part is naming two things and saying that you don't need to go on. That's like saying that the Browns have had the greatest wide receivers in NFL history. They had Kevin Johnson and Webster Slaughter. I don't think I need to go on.

I've tried thirty times over to justify comments like this and I simply can't. Once again, people who say stuff like this have zero grasp of history. I can justify people who oppose ObamaCare on a fiscal basis. I disagree with them, but I can see the point. But infringement of freedoms is just such a weak case that I can't even comprehend it. Let alone classifying it as one of the largest in American history.

Do you see how these two, even if I grant you factual status (which I don't), are quite related? The dollar can't maintain its value under crushing spending and debt caused by maintaining ground forces, alone, half the world away.

logdawg, I give you credit for being more patient than I am.

Once upon a time, I was a better person, and could muster the will to argue against such nonsense.

But I'm at the point where I think 'Are you serious?' and resort to mockery.

There's something to be said for giving irrational opinions rational arguments, and I'm not disciplined enough to do that anymore.

With that said...the fact that people are still trotting out 'socialist' president blows my mind. It's like they read a chain e-mail in 2007 and never bothered to look at a single fact after that.

That's more or less what I think of when I read that Millcreek guy's posts. Hell, he's probably copying and pasting from TheBlaze most of the time.

Desperate people are desperate for answers.

But it works both ways.

I know plenty of people who turn to Obama for the same sense of comfort.

I'm no defender of Glenn Beck but this website is quite useful.
