[color:"white"]Just a side note here.

Anyone take notice of what's going on over in Philly?

Jeff Garcia was destroyed behind a sad line here in Cleveland and was run out of town by the fans. He earned some of that with his attitude but much of it was badly overblown by the fans. Yet what has he done since taking over for McNabb? He threw for 312 yards on 21 completions tonight with 3 TD's and 0 INT's and beat the Panthers. He's thrown for 6 TD's with 0 INT's since taking over. Westbrook had rushed for 100 yards in several straight games. So what's the common theme?

They have a good line.

Westrbook is a good back but he's not great. Stallworth is a good WR but outside of him they don't have much. Garcia isn't the same guy that he was even before he came to Cleveland, but with smarts and experience he showed he can still play.

So my point is that we don't need a new QB, we don't need a new RB, we don't need a new WR........we need offensive linemen that can actually block. Everything else will fal into place, so saying Frye needs to be replaced right now doesn't make a lick of sense. The flipside is that saying Anderson should makes about as much sense.

Charlie has already done this in the eyes of our coaching staff.

sure he did....last preseason....things can't change??

Once a season starts, the focus in practice isn't to really evaluate players and their play, it is to go with the plan that is set in preseason.

I don't question that charlie is the starter.

I have a question for you....Is Charlie so good we don't need to look at other options?

A simple yes or no answer is all that is needed.

so saying Frye needs to be replaced right now doesn't make a lick of sense.

You're the one who said start Anderson.

I don't advocate replacing frye so much as giving Anderson some looks.

We are at the point in the seaon we need to look at things a bit...nobody can deny Anderson did a good job in his first NFL action. If one compared that back to Charlies first NFL action and said that is the starting point...what would we have??

Nothing says Anderson will improve.....shoot...I fully admit it may have been nothing more than beginners luck and if given more shots he will lay egg after egg....but it's not like Charlie hasn't squeezed out a few eggs himself..that is a part of the process.

If Charlie was a hot shot prospect who had shown signs of brilliant play, I wouldn't want any part of looking at Anderson except for emergency duty.....but he hasn't, so I do.... not that Charlie hasn't been good here and there.

I will ask you the same question....has Charlie done so well that we shouldn't even consider or look at any options??

Yes or no is all that is needed.

The funny part is there is this debate at all. Frye and Anderson both suck and would not start for any other NFL team.

We need a true franchise QB and untill we get one, we will be losers in the long run!

Please name one other NFL team that would be willing to trade for or start either one of these guys?

Nobody would trade for Couch either, but that didn't stop you from building a shrine in your house to worship him

[color:"red"] I'd think I could have some fun with the thread. Truth is, sooner or later, one was going to pop up,
How much fun?
I see some funny comments and then one from a POP WARNER WANNA BEE..(THATS U JAFT) who thinks his opinion should be the ruling mind in here..BRILLIANT!
IT'S funny but no real battle..KC had no film on Mr.Anderson.
He does have good pocket presense and a gun for a arm..big..6'6 230..man if Frye had his gun ..and awareness.
But Anderson is what he is ..backup.

Time to break out the stats
10 tds. 16 ints 7 fumbles

4th quarter 2tds 7 ints Now when you throw in the fact that all of our games have pretty much been decided in the 4th. That stat gets even more emphasis

Again I doubt that Anderson is the answer but charlie has not only left the door open for Anderson but any other QB that we bring in. And yep we will be bringing someone in.

[color:"orange"]I wasn't screaming either...lol It was a wierd feeling the game was so back n forth - now I know why media loves Offensive games and you for that matter. Yes its exciting...and it was like Greens going for the win...Ahhhh Yeahhh fumble...now DA is going for the win...Ahhhh Noooo Int right back. Like a see saw.

Controversy...haven't read articles and stuff...the media trying to make this into a controversy???

I thought it was pretty black n white. CF played great...no way he loses his job.

DA all he did was make us relax about the backup position and have a little credibility with our coaches actually knowing what we got. As we pursued nobody when all the media was saying WHY??? How could we not pursue Testeverde???wasn't that what the media gave us...and Patriots got him we lost our chance...OH NO!!!

Well from day one Dorsey was made the 3rd QB...remember the smile on RAC's face saying as of now DA is our #2. Well they knew what they had we didn't. Now we do.

QB controversy??? Not one bit. Hey the kid plays in a couple games against the RAVENS and Steelers with mega pressure and impresses...maybe we got a controversy. Until that day comes...all I saw was a kid who didn't get pressured from left and right and had great passing lanes created for him to step up into and throw. He didn't fall apart and look like a dunderhead. He did his job and came through as a realiable #2. For anyone who makes this a controversy...they just are simply impatient and have written CF off.

Realistically it gives our once thinnest most inexperienced QB position in the NFL (according to the media) a little more credibility and depth.

I want CF's wrist to heal cause I was real impressed...it would be great if that was his light coming on! It is like that...a thunderbolt...blam! its there to stay. I'm curious if that was IT!?!?

If you paid any attention at all to things that Phil Savage has said, you'd realize that you are not correct. The team is being built around the QB position, not through it.

[*]Chicago Bears... a 1.2 qb rating on Sunday and yet he wins. Lucky S.O.B.
[*]Perhaps that Texans team with their franchise QB that passed for -5 yards
[*]Jacksonville would probably take em.. Leftwich's goose is cooked and Gerrard is about the same as them, just really, really big.
[*]Denver might give it some thought, Cutler ain't all that
[*]They'd both look about as good as Phil Rivers does in San Diego
[*]I don't see them looking much worse than Eli Manning in New York
[*]Tampa Bay might like to swap out Gradkowski
[*]Oakland would definitely take em (or anyone for that matter)
[*]Philly might be inclined to think they are no worse than Garcia (I know I am)
[*]Atlanta would probably view them the same as Shaub...which is better than Vick

The Bears would not have won three games if they played our schedule. 6 games versus the Vikings, Packers and Lions, then they have Cards, Seahawks, 49ers, Rams, Bills, Jets, Pats, Dolphins. I think they are 1 and done in the playoffs.

Houston? I would take David Carr over our 3
Oakland? Aaron Brooks would be starting if he was here
Jags? None of our 3 would make their roster
Falcons? Wouldnt make their roster
Chargers? You gotta be kidding
Denver? I would take plummer or Cutler
Tampa? They might start there only because McCown and Simms are injured
Eagles? Wouldnt make their roster and you know my opinion on Garfumble
Giants? I would take Eli or the Hefty Lefty over our 3

I thought it was against board rules to use "TC" as an acronym for anything, especially in a qb controversy thread, for fear of causing mass hysteria...

A simple yes or no answer is all that is needed.

A simple yes or no isn't quite enough, but almost.

Other "realistic upgrades" as an option? A first round draft choice or veteran QB?
Yes.

Simply another project with little to no chance to be an upgrqade and only start yet another contraversy for no chance at a real upgrade? A distraction to cause an already fledgling team trying to turn things around into turmoil yet once again?
No

Thats a lawyer trick Peen. Can't be answered until we fix the O-line. Who knows how good or bad or who would trade for Charlie with this O-line. The O-line played good last game and Charlie and Anderson looked good. Its amazing what a running game and a little blocking can do.

"Yes or no" isn't all that's needed, as your wording of the question is screwy enough to make either answer squirely

You want my answer. My answer is this: No, we don't need to look at Anderson as an alternative to Frye. No, we don't need to look at Dorsey as an alternative to Frye.

You know as well as anyone that I'm not a total believer in Frye. However, I'm not even remotely CLOSE to being a believer in Anderson. Yet even if I were, my answer would be the same.

This is the first game in weeks where our QB's have had time to throw the ball. So what did Frye do in this game that warranted negative feedback? Did Anderson do so much better than Frye in this game? Hell no he didn't. If the Ref's didn't have their heads half-way up their asses the Chiefs have better than a 50/50 chance of kicking a field goal and win the game. Why? Because Anderson screwed the pooch at the end of the 4th quarter by throwing a pick. Had his throw earlier in the game been anywhere near where he intended it, he throws his first INT. So Anderson didn't do anything that Frye hasn't done this year. His scramble was great, but Frye gets that first down as well, even if he doesn't get as far as Anderson did on that play.

Furthermore, if Frye is healthy........ONLY if Frye is healthy.........he needs to be out there gaining experience. His play has progressed as the season's gone one. Sitting him down now to try out some REAL longshot quarterback is his developement, and doesn't do a damned thing when it comes to answering the question as to whether or not he's the guy.

Here's the bottom line. If Frye is healthy and isn't a risk to the team or to himself, he's the starter. Savage knows it and Crennel knows it, because that's the smart thing to do.

Good news that the MRI confirmed its not a break. While I expect that RAC is trying to keep the Steelers on their toes, and that DA will most likely start, I wouldn't rule CF out just yet. If the kid is one thing its tough. We shall see.

You already have my answer. It's the same as Toads. Hopefully if a judge asked you to do your summary based on simply yes and no questions, you wouldn't be gullible enough to travel down that road either.

J/C on U Tab...

I'm a little surprise that there are as many posters Ga Ga about Anderson as there are.... (on this board) (on the "other" board, I'd expect it).

Anderson, as many have stated, did a fine job increasing confidence that he can become a bonifide #2.

Unfortunately, I think the picture will be MUCH different in the PEE BOWL this Thursday. KC played a base D with four men rushing the majority of the game. This did not make any sense on their part, because we have proven that we CANNOT pickup the blitz on offense. Pittsburger, however, will blitz the crap out of Anderson. (maybe literally). Let's see what he does in response to a slim rushing game, and a relentless blitz package.

Side Note: Did anyone else notice that DA has a low release point? Even though he is tall, I'd expect many deflected balls unless he raises the release point.
