Hey Vers... since you have such a love affair with Shanny...why don't you answer me a question...

What was he going to do to improve the QB play ?

Why do you guys always have to make perverse statements? Seriously, as soon as you say something so completely obnoxious and degrading as "since you have such a love affair...." it's hard to take you seriously.

Maybe I could answer by saying........Hey Dies, since you wanna be Farmer's boy toy, what did he do to increase the credibility of the franchise? Of course, I won't lower myself to that platform.

So, here is your answer..........Shanny helped his qbs by:

--having a very creative run blocking scheme that opened holes for the running backs. Defenses had to finally address the run pre-snap and this opened up more passing lanes for the qb. Additionally, we had fewer 3rd and forever situations, which also helped the qbs.

--having a very creative progression of routes [not allowed to use the term route trees] which further opened up the field and led to receivers breaking wide open.

--rolled his qb out to the weak side after softening up the defense by running the ball over and over to the strong side. This bought the qb time and allowed WRs such as Gabriel to break wide open. Did you miss those plays?

--Often, had a quick, rhythmic passing game where the qb got the ball out of his hand very quickly and before he had rushers in his face.

All of those things helped his quarterbacks, both in Washington and Cleveland. RGIII had one good year. With Shanny. Cousins looked his best under Shanny. Hoyer was having very good success in the first half of the year w/Shanny. Schwaub had his best years under Shanny.

There are huge questions about all of Shanny's quarterbacks. Not one of them is looked at as having a secure future, and none of them surely aren't looked at a legitimate and proven star. I think he did quite a bit w/out a lot of talent at the position.

And I am not in love w/him. That's a juvenile statement. I wasn't thrilled when we hired him, but I am able to change my mind instead of just playing Regime Wars. Heck, if what YTown says is true, I would have automatically hated Shanny and never given him a chance. But, I kept an open mind and I watched the offense. I was very happy because we finally landed an OC that was good. If that is loving a guy.........so be it!

You know, I praise Pettine all the time. Why the hell don't you say........"since you love Pet....?" I know the answer to that question. You support Pettine and thus it does not fit in w/your lame attempts to discredit my opinions w/punkish remarks.

(It was the fault of everyone by the way, everyone failed. When you draft Manziel over Bridgewater, you fail.)

And I criticized the Browns for passing on those guys [except Wilson] and Alex Smith. Not many people like Smith, but I think he is pretty good. I really was hoping for Ben. Big time!

That was years ago. Passing on Teddy just happened. It should be part of the conversation because while the other regimes that made those mistakes are long gone, the regime that took JM is still here.

Why should we trust that they "get quarterbacks?" Why shouldn't they be held accountable for such an error in judgement?

I know the answers to those questions and deep-down, so do you. It's because of Regime Wars. Heck, it should a Reality TV series w/all the drama, underhanded tactics, webs of deception, emotional outbursts, backstabbing, turning one's head the other way, etc] LOL...you have to admit that it is kinda funny. Tell me, if Banner and Lombardi were still here and they had made the same mistake.........would the reaction of the board be the same? Or, would each and every thread be ripping on them and demanding they be fired?

Be honest.

Bradford's Full Injury History

2009..College..Shoulder..sustained an injury to right shoulder during BYU game..missed next 3 games.

2009..College..Shoulder..underwent surgery on his shoulder (A/C joint) missed total of 10 games.

2011..NFL..Ankle..suffered a high(left)ankle sprain missing 5 games.

2013..NFL..Knee..tore left ACL in week 7..put on IR and had to have reconstructive surgery.

2014..NFL..Knee..reinjured ACL in week 3 of the preseason..done for the 2014 season.

*Note: Dr James Andrews did Bradfords shoulder surgery and knee surgeries.

I believe the Browns would taking a huge injury risk if they made a deal for Bradford. If the Browns were able to sign Bradford and not give up much, it could make the risk worth taking.

I would still recommend that the Browns add another QB via the draft or FA.

it looks like he hasn't had any more problems with the shoulder.
same with the high ankle sprain which a LOT of players get.
was he fully recovered from the knee? or did he push himself too soon?
these are the things that i'm looking at.

Yes, unless (and I'm stating the obvious here) you want Connor Shaw as your 3rd string. I thought CS played capably in his one start, but we expect his ceiling is low...

I forgot to address this earlier, but some people are saying that Bradford wouldn't have but any other choice than to come to Cleveland if he was traded here. I just see that as a remote possibility because of some of the information in the original article.

--I doubt the Rams would trade him for a second or third round pick.

--They might be better off releasing him in regards to the salary cap, unless they can get a first round pick.

--Bradford seems to have some say in that decision.

--I thought the Rams are on record as wanting to keep him???

--Do we want to trade a first round pick for a guy who has not been healthy and will cost a lot of money?

I just don't see it.

exactly. people seem to not want to acknowledge that.

Bradford is the NFL version of Derrick Rose. great talent, but worthless since he can't stay on the field.

The rams are willing to tolerate him as long as possible because he's already on the team. Other teams aren't gonna want to pay that much for a QB that is made out of action movie Glass.

Report: Browns like Sam Bradford, but Fisher debunks rumors
Feb

2/21/2015 10:03:30 AM

A report surfaced Friday that Sam Bradford is atop the Browns quarterback wish list, but even if it's true, the Rams have no intention of letting him go, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Jason Cole of Bleacher Report said in a video of the Browns that "Bradford, whether they trade for him or whether he gets cut, that's a guy at the top of their list. ...Bradford is the guy that most people are saying if the Browns have a chance to get him, especially with a relatively cheap trade, say a 2nd-round pick maybe a 3rd-round, that they'll take a real run at him."

Cole goes on to say that sources close to Bradford, who's under contract for $12.985 million in 2015, have told him that the quarterback is "not going to accept a trade at this point'' anyway.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher refuted a report by CBS Sports Friday that St. Louis has given Bradford permission to seek a trade, and stressed that he's their man for 2015.

"I was surprised to hear that,'' said Fisher. "That's inaccurate. No, I mean. We talked about what our plans are for him.''

Getting SB would be a big mistake IMO. The guy is injury prone and fragile albeit a talent. I would pass. We have had problems in the past with guys like this. Montario H. and Lee Suggs come to mind. Heck, we have had guys come here with no injury history gotten hurt and were never the same. Courtney Brown, Lecharles Bently and Tim Couch come to mind. I'd pass.

They way I see it no Brown's QB has survived a full season here injury wise in a very long time. We honestly need two good quality QB's. One for the the first half of the season and another for the second half. Hopefully if we make it to the playoffs one day it won't be our 3rd stringer starting it for us.

We shouldn't and they should.

We have some evidence of how they addressed drafting a QB and the indications aren't good.

The first round of the draft is where you get the best talent, cream of the crop in all drafts. Where the building blocks of your team are supposed to come from. It's the water mark of regimes.

All we can do at this point is hope they get better, but I do see people trying to rationalize these things time and time again.

I did not mock you at all. I gave a rather mild assessment of your posting style ...... one that is actually considerably milder than your usual post.

You are constantly on Teddy all the time. We get it. You liked him, and he had a decent rookie season. Will be develop from his rookie season into a quality NFL QB? Who knows? He was not some incredible superstar QB last year. He was reasonably good by the end of the year, and did a good job throwing mainly short passes. (only 52 of his 259 completions were for 11 or more yards in the air)

Was Bridgewater a decent rookie? Yep, sure was. Was he a QB who made you stand up and go "Whoa! This kid is a superstar in the making! He has that same kind of look about him as a Manning, or a Luck!"? Not even close. He looked solid, in many games. He didn't have Hall of Fame talent around him, but he probably had as many solid receivers there as he would have here. His OL was probably as good as ours without Mack.

You have blasted the Browns for playing the NFCS, well, let's look at who Bridgewater played:

New Orleans: (NFCS team, 25th in pass defense)
Atlanta: (Another NFCS team, dead last in pass defense)
Detroit: (13th in pass defense. Played twice, 1 TD, 5 INT)
Buffalo: (3rd in pass defense, decent day with 157 yards, 1 TD and 2 INT)
Tampa Bay: (28th in pass defense)
Washington: (24th in pass defense)
Chicago: (30th in pass defense. Played twice, 367 pass yards in 2 games, 2 TD, 2 INT)
Green Bay: (10th in pass defense. solid day with 2 TD an 1 INT)
Carolina: (11th in pass defense. 138 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT)
NY Jets: (14th in pass defense. Good day, 309 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT)
Miami: (6th in pass defense. Good day. 259 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT)

Among his games were the following defensive standards:

Most passing TD allowed: (Teddy played the top 3 a total of 4 games)

#1 worst. Washington: 36 TD passes allowed, and only 7 INT.
#2 worst. Chicago: 34 TD passes allowed, with only 14 INT. Teddy played them twice)
#3 worth: NY Jets: 31 TD passes allowed, and only 6 INT. No wonder Ryan got fired.

Now you can only play who you can play, but let's not pretend that he was tearing up the best of the league.

The Vikings rushed for 112.8 yards/game, which is hardly great. It is middle of the league, and about 4 more per game than we managed.

So, while he had a decent rookie season, he wasn't in the superstar category. It will be interesting to see how he develops, but he has a long way to go before he is "the guy the Browns missed out on".

Wow YTown!

You're reaching pretty far to discredit a QB who won more games as a rookie than even Andrew Luck and a lot of other NFL greats did as a rookie.

I understand you and Vers rub each other the wrong way, but don't stoop to trying to twist stats around to undermine the best rookie QB that was drafted last year in order to do it.

Look, the FO outsmarted themselves with drafting Manziel with Bridgewater still on the board. No sense living in denial on that one. Will be be the next Andrew Luck? Who knows. But if you think Manziel is the better QB, I've got news for you.

And in the end, that's really what this is all about.

Huh? Luck went 11-5 as a rookie and took his team to the playoffs. Bridgewater was 6-6 as a starter.

Not sure what the issues are but everything you said about Teddy was spot on in this last post.

I didn't want Teddy in the draft (I wanted JM even less) mainly because of his spindly thin legs that remind me of RG3. I don't think he will be durable.

Why we are arguing about rookie QB's I don't know. There is so much revisionist history created by posters that it's not even funny. For example - before the draft there was a LOT of support from the board and the media that JM should be our FIRST pick in the draft. The Merril Hodges of the world were the absolute exception - not many people at all said there was no chance JM transitioned to the NFL. . . . . now we've all seen him play and struggle, the only view I see is how everyone knew he was going to be a bum in the NFL. Oh brother.

Here is what I said----------We would not be having a discussion about which QB to pursue this year if we had drafted Teddy.

I did not say he was a superstar. I did not say he was tearing up the league. Those are lies fabricated by your despicable self in order to turn the argument against me. You are good at manipulating the system, YTown. Very good! So much so, that I have zero respect for you.

Sorry. Mibad. Although, with your level of devotion to the Vikings' QB, that might be an understatement.

Why would I deny it. They acted like Bozos the way they handled things with Chud. They got darn lucky that they stumbled their way into Pettine. Yes, the way they handled that whole situation made them look like Bozos, and yes I put it in my signature. Why would I back away from it? I gave Banner and Lombardi a chance to win me over, Banner made a few good moves, some questionable ones, and a Bozo move when he was more convinced of his own power and influence with coaching candidates than those potential coaches were. For some reason he thought that top candidates would rush in to work for him, and that was proved absolutely false. He then got into a massive argument with his hand picked GM over a coaching candidate. Yep. Bozos. Fortunately Haslam pulled his head out of the clown's read end to see what was going on and clean house of the 2 Bozos. You can talk about other regimes all you like, but it doesn't really matter. Judge each one on their own merits. In the end, it is quite possible that Banner/Lombardi's best draft moves may have been getting a #1 for Richardson, and then trading away picks. That's not a great record to stand on.

You know, I have not called you a liar, a habitual liar, despicable, a lunatic, or anything else, and yet here you are doing so to me. Why do you feel the need to lash out with such attacks? You overreact to so much that it's almost scary. (and I doubt that many would disagree, on this message board anyway) You see derision where little or none exists, and you blast away at people, then take offense when you are called on it. Where people do deride you it is because of your attitude. I would hate to go through life with that kind of attitude. However, that is your choice.

Quote:
So much so, that I have zero respect for you.

I would say that I am sorry that you feel that way, but frankly, it really doesn't matter to me what you think. I have tried to forgive your last attacks, and think that I have done a pretty good job of doing so, and have even tried to interact with you in a largely civilized manner. However, it appears that civility is not what interests you. I would invite you to go read many of your replies to other people, and ask yourself, how would I react to that person, if they said to me, what I said to them? I think, that if you're honest, we both know what the answer to that question is.

Now, I have to go rest my back again, because it is absolutely killing me. Maybe later, if I feel better, I will try to figure out why I can't find any posts about "Teddy" under your name. Or maybe I won't even bother. Frankly, it just isn't worth the trouble.

Have a nice evening.

Actually, you have. Many, many times.

I remember you telling me I needed psychiatric help because I disagreed w/you. I responded that perhaps you should get a job. You cried that I should get banned for that. I did get suspended. You did not. Now, let's examine that.

You said I needed psychiatric help. You explained you were concerned for me. LOL......what a fraud. First of all, if you were really concerned, you would have PMed me and not broadcast it to the entire board. Secondly, your claim proves your true character. I have thought about this and tried to find some goodness in you, but I just couldn't.

if I am not mentally unstable, you were simply trying to get others to think I was. That seems like move that reeks of slimy intentions.

If was truly in need of psychiatric help, how would your comment help me? Would you simply just bash me as being mentally unstable and have people laugh at me, while not offering any support? What does that say about you as a human being?

What kills me is that I got suspended and you did not. You said I needed psychiatric help and I said you needed to get a job.

Wow!

What does this have to do with the thread?

Further, if questioning someone's need for psychiatric help was cause for suspension from the board, pdr would never be allowed back on here.

And lastly, I read your reply to ytown - the one that got you suspended. You did NOT simply respond that perhaps he should just get a job.

I am NOT the one who changed the thread topic. I was talking about Bradford. YTown is the one who derailed it. I simply responded to him.

Look, I know you can't stand me........but get real......I did NOT start this argument.

Him questioning my mental health on several threads was NOT okay. You might not have cared, but I did. I let it go, let it go, let it go............then finally fought back.

Furthermore, you guys completely missed my intent w/my reply to YTown AFTER he said I needed professional help. If you can spend 7-8 hours a day on a message board typing, than you can work from home.

Here.............read this:

Quote:
This is Richie Parker. He's a number of things: car enthusiast, engineer, employee, son. He's a normal guy for his age, working a job in a field he loves. Oh, he also happens to have no arms. After watching this video from ESPN, we can't help but think that Richie might describe himself in just such a way, with his birth defect a secondary part of his life, scarcely worth mentioning. His story is a remarkable one, about not letting bumps in the road stop you and about finding ingenious solutions to problems you or I have never thought about.

Richie was born with bilateral amelia, a non-genetic birth defect in which limbs aren't formed. While the idea of not having any arms might be terrifying to many, as shown in the video, having dealt with it since birth has lead Richie to develop a number of interesting solutions. He can ride a bike, open the fridge and microwave on his own, use a computer and drive a car with his feet – virtually everything we can do (and take for granted) Richie can do with a bit of determination and creativity. Not surprisingly, finding those interesting solutions to everyday problems teamed with his love of cars led to a job at one of the finest NASCAR teams in the country. Take a look at the full video from ESPN, embedded below.

After that, perhaps you'd be interested in hearing a bit about some more people who have managed to overcome similar issues in equally impressive ways.

And please watch the video............here:

I will stop, but I am tired of that guy ripping on me. The mental health thing is real. He is either trying to get others to dismiss me because I have seemingly have mental health issues or is the most uncaring jerk in the world and making fun of someone w/mental health issues.

Either way...........I didn't appreciate it. I let it go.......once, twice, three, four times. I finally fired back. He stayed on the board. I was suspended. Go figure.

I almost think that if we were to consider Bradford, we might as well go with Jake Locker. He would almost certainly be less expensive, and is, in many ways, a similar QB.

Not for nothing, but I was listening to the Combine reports on the NFL Network yesterday and this was brought up. Essentially, the Rams are saying they are sticking with Bradford. Might be a ploy, might not. Not sure.

Anyway, Bradford is very talented. I'd love to have him except for one thing, what good is he when he seems always to be injured?

If you could give me reasonable assurances that he'd make it through the next few seasons mostly healthy, I'd love it. that would give us time to find and develop the next guy properly. (assuming that JM isn't the right guy)

Pipe dream. Isn't going to happen unless we give up a first. And if we give up a first for him the Brown's get fleeced again. Wonder if they would trade for equal value in playing time. Someone like Josh Gordon.

First thing I thought when I saw the thread.

exactly. people seem to not want to acknowledge that.

Bradford is the NFL version of Derrick Rose. great talent, but worthless since he can't stay on the field.

The rams are willing to tolerate him as long as possible because he's already on the team. Other teams aren't gonna want to pay that much for a QB that is made out of action movie Glass.

I can't speak for others. The injuries are a fact - cause I want him here isn't because I refuse to acknowledge that fact.

The reason I want him here if possible. Is because we never had a Good NFL QB since our rebirth. He stays healthy throughout the year and yes the question has to be why would he. Well all we could do is lower the odds. Keep him clean. He can release the ball quickly make good decision and be very very accurate. Why cause our best chance to win a Championship but of course get into the playoffs and not one and done. Is have him as our QB here and now!

Best chance to keep Mack here would be to have a great season with a Great QB. We suck in 2015 Mack is probably gone. We catch fire and win our division - Mack will be all in most likely.

Best chance for Joe T not to consider retirement soon. Have him make it an imperative to keep his blind side Clean!

It is these reasons why I would want him here. Not because I'm ignorant to the listing of his injuries?

Now did we contact the Rams and made an offer and they listened? Probably we don't know - this came from one article made by ONE BLOGGER and the rest is Bozos stating REPORTS ARE...Immediately (cause it came up 2/18 when all were at the Combine) the Ram GM said no way Bradford won't be on their roster.

So odds are he won't be available.

The sad thing is timing. The kid probably will be on shaky ground for a year before getting back to 100%. But there is only that year left on his contract. Do you sit him and give JM a solid chance as starter and maybe come Nov. Dec. think about easing him in for the playoff run? Franchise Tag him while we negotiated a new contract for 2016 and beyond?

Just thinking out loud. But I am on solid ground. Actually I don't think there is any chance of getting him and that would be with the 19th pick in the draft denied by the RAMS.

jmho

I would rather see the Browns look into a trade for Jay Cutler than Sam Bradford. I'm not even a big Cutler fan, but he's better than Bradford - even if Bradford's healthy.

Anyone who has an injury history be it in college, with another NFL team or wherever that comes here will probably continue it with the Browns. I hate to be pessimistic but that's how I feel. Our past on this issue shows this.

I get what you're saying bro.

All I'm saying is the WAY he gets injured, it will be all but impossible to keep him healthy no matter where he goes. Look at that vid I posted when he got hurt playing us in the preseason.

That type of play is going to happen atleast 3-4 times now matter how good our O line is, because the DL are gonna find ways to hit our QBs at least that many times a game.

At least jay cutler for the most part can take a beating. Hell atleast weeden took beatings. We can'tay a QB that type of money, and now We are worried every time the field is wet that he's gonna slip and tear something.
