So according to this article, and what I heard on the radio, Antrel Rolle prayed for God to give him a sign as to where he should go in free agency. The Giants wanted to keep him, the Bears were making a serious offer.

At 4:30 am the next morning he woke suddenly, which he claims he never does. His phone buzzed. He picked it up to see an Orbitz ad for low air fares to Chicago... later that day, he signed with the Bears. thumbsup

So who do we need to start spamming with Cleveland ads?

Not exactly FA news, but since there's not a specific extensions thread, Steelers signed Roethlisberger to an extension today. Per @steelers (official steelers twitter account)

Terms not out yet, my guess is to lower his cap value, which according to spotrac was 18.4m. Win/win for them.

Both QBs are crap. Ryan was good for a few years, then turned into crap. At least the book is still out on Pettine.

Man.........this FA period sucks for us. Could it get any worse?

We raise season ticket prices.

We wanna move TC to Columbus to generate more money.

We redo the uniforms to get more money.

We are one of the top teams in terms of cap space.

Yet, we don't want to spend any money to improve the team.

Are you kidding me?

The ticket prices have to go up at some point.

Training will be both in some other location and Berea.

Who cares about the uniforms?

We will eventually sign some players.

Yes. We could be signing average players for more than they are worth.

So Miami gave up:

Mike Wallace
3rd Round Pick
7th Round Pick

For:

Kenny Stills
5th Round Pick

...

Why?

I guess they either really liked Stills or really wanted to get rid of Wallace for something in return.

Just keep pushing everybody's money back further a couple more years..

That team is going to have to be gutted eventually..

i doubt it. nothing i have seen makes me think we can.

He didn't say, can we use them wisely, he just said can we use them. Yes, we will use them. tongue

Maybe. Or maybe Farmer will play a Belichick and trade out of the first for picks next year.... Or perhaps he will use them like he did last year. On projects that won't play this season. He sure seems to think the team is fine as is. Maybe he really believes that.

Farmer has said on a couple occasions he doesn't value the WR position. If he takes a WR in the first it's becaue Haslam FORCED him to. I will be shocked if he takes a WR higher than the 4th round and at least mildly surprised if he drafts one at all....

I think patience is the key. We were told up front we weren't going to make a big splash this year, yet people seem surprised that we haven't.

I think we will make a move or two over the next week or two. We are just entering the point where the players who aren't signed and were hoping for big dollars are now starting to get a bit edgy and will come back down to earth when a team finally does give them a offer.

There are still several receivers out there who could help improve the roster.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Even though we signed Hartline, I'd still like to see Miles Austin re-signed. Other WR's still available are Cecil Shorts, Michael Crabtree, Denarius Moore, Stevie Johnson, Andre Holmes, Dwayne Bowe, and a few others. None of them would be #1's, but would add to WR depth, where I think we need some size and experience.

I think either Charles Clay or Jermaine Gresham would be a good fit at TE, with Clay being a better target but Gresham the superior blocker.

I'd like to bolster the interior DL - maybe Vince Wilfork?

Finally, and most important, I think we need to fill the hole Skrine left; Perish Cox, Shareece Wright, Patrick Robinson, and Tramon Williams are still avalable.

There's plenty of time for the Browns to help themselves with some key additions, without breaking the bank. It looks to me like the Browns are saving money for a bigger push in FA next year, but there are still moves they can make. Fans need to be a little more patient.

Vikings part ways with Greg Jennings after Mike Wallace trade

Posted by Darin Gantt on March 14, 2015, 2:11 PM EDT
Britain Football NFL
AP
The writing was on the wall for Greg Jennings when the Vikings traded for Mike Wallace last night.

Today, they put it on paper.

The Vikings announced they cut the former Packers wide receiver, their last effort at finding a big-money big-play receiver.

Jennings was due $8.9 million this year, and would have counted $11 million against the cap.

The 31-year-old Jennings had good-not-great numbers for the Vikings, after signing a five-year, $45 million contract in March 2013. He caught 59 passes for 742 yards and six touchdowns, solid numbers, but hardly in line with his numbers on the payroll ledger. PFT

He really seemed out of place with the Vikings. I would be very tempted to take a shot on him.

Bud we were warned in Haslams very first news conference and I pointed it out then.

Quote:
Haslam did predict a new, different business approach for the Browns. In addition to a winning, he anticipates an increased emphasis on marketing. The home field might not remain “Browns Stadium” much longer. Naming rights are just one business opportunity the new owner wants to explore.

He wouldn't rule out updating the team's traditional uniform, either. “The reality today is that we live in a marketing world,” said Haslam.
http://clevelandmagazine.blogspot.com/2012/08/browns-introduce-new-owner-jimmy-haslam.html

In that very same presser he described how often he changed the marketing concept for Pilot Flying J. Marketing was emphasized in that presser.

The difference is, diesel fuel is provided as a product and marketing sells it. An NFL team has to be built and then sold. Two different animals there.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I wonder if he felt like they were a better opportunity to start, and that played into his decision? The article does say that he is expected to start in Tennessee.

So you are faulting our GM for wanting to draft guys who are good?
