I love Grayson in the 5th. (I had in the 3rd or 4th in my mock). I have a "gut feeling" he's going to develop into a fine NFL QB. We're all looking for that sleeper or sort of slightly under the radar guy, and I've anointed him as mine!

I feel personally attacked every time someone doesn't take the giant fullback from Alabama in one of these mock drafts.

If any of the top 3 WRs even make it that far..

Round 2 Pick 12 (N.O.): Carl Davis, DT/DE, Iowa (A-)
Round 2 Pick 19 (HOU): Jordan Phillips, DT, Oklahoma (B)
Round 2 Pick 22 (DET): Devin Funchess, WR/TE, Michigan (B)
Round 2 Pick 25 (CAR): Denzel Perryman, ILB/OLB, Miami (Fla.) (B+)
Round 3 Pick 13: Davis Tull, OLB, Chattanooga (B-)

So this time I used the First Pick site recommended by Attack Dawg. I traded down from the 12 spot 3 times, each time picking up a 2nd rounder.

Your score is: 4987 (GRADE: A-)

Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 17 (S.D.): DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville (A)
Round 1 Pick 19: Eddie Goldman, DT, Florida State (B+)
Round 2 Pick 11: Maxx Williams, TE, Minnesota (B+)
Round 2 Pick 12 (N.O.): Benardrick McKinney, ILB, Mississippi State (A-)
Round 2 Pick 15 (MIA): Jake Fisher, OT, Oregon (A-)
Round 2 Pick 16 (S.D.): Hauoli Kikaha, OLB/DE, Washington (B-)
Round 3 Pick 18 (HOU): Garrett Grayson, QB, Colorado State (B)
Round 4 Pick 12: Jalston Fowler, FB, Alabama (B)
Round 4 Pick 16: Andy Gallik, C, Boston College (B)
Round 4 Pick 17 (HOU): Anthony Chickillo, DE, Miami (Fla.) (B-)
Round 5 Pick 11: Chris Conley, WR, Georgia (C)
Round 6 Pick 13: Stefon Diggs, WR, Maryland (E)
Round 6 Pick 26: Deshazor Everett, CB, Texas A&M (C+)
Round 7 Pick 12: Sam Ficken, K, Penn State (D-)

It didn't like my pick of Conley in the 5th, and hated my pick of Diggs in the 6th and Ficken in the 7th, but by that time I had filled all the major needs, so I got Diggs to return kicks and Ficken to make them.

To be honest, I don't like all the trade down options. I have never seen a team with 4-5 2nd round picks in a draft. But hey, if that was what you were allowed to do.....cool.

Going back to something Steve said early on, I did a 4 round draft as the Titans to see what was picked for the Browns. To see if it took in to account our needs etc. Overall I'd say it was a pretty decent draft.

Landon Collins
Ereck Flowers
Devin Funchess
Trey Flowers
Mike Hull
Joey Mbu

So as not to create a mock for every one we do, here is my first mock taking into consideration the recent FA signing the Browns completed using the Fanspeak which does not allow for any trades that might be made;

http://fanspeak.com/ontheclock/draft.php?d=avthcf

I like this about Fanspeak in that the link allows you all to see who was available when I picked and I don't have to try and re-format a list and take up unnecessary space here.

Why I took who I did at the positions;

1st RD:
12: DE DANTE FOWLER JR. – FLORIDA: I don’t see how he fall’s this far. However, if he is there at 12, this is one of our first string run stuffing DE for the next several years.

19: DT MALCOM BROWN – TEXAS: I gave a pass on Sheldon at 12 only because of the caliber of player and depth there is in this draft for DT. At any rate, I think adding both Brown and Fowler should lock down the D front line with the quality depth we have for rotation.

2nd & 3rd RD:
43: WR DEVIN SMITH - OHIO STATE:
77: WR BRESHAD PERRIMAN – UCF:
I know everyone is talking like we “have” to take a WR in the first round. I don’t agree. This year’s depth of high quality WR is comparable to last years. Adding two day 2 receivers who are close in stat’s to the two FA wide receivers we just signed to develop behind, I can easily see the depth chart for WR being Bowe/Perriman on one side and Hartline/Smith on the other.

4th RD:
108: TE JEFF HEUERMAN - OHIO STATE:
112: OT ROB HAVENSTEIN – WISCONSIN:
We really could go into the season with the 2 TE we have in Barnidge and Gray, but I would rather have an additional TE and really like Heuerman (yea I’m an OSU homer). Rob, to me, is a big corn fed project/developmental OT who would do well being groomed behind his Badger Alum Joe Thomas

5th RD:
139: CB DORAN GRANT - OHIO STATE: This was my one, BPA as I didn’t really see anyone on the board that really jumped out at me when comparing the NFL Draft Rankings list with who was available.

6th RD:
173: FB JALSTON FOWLER – ALABAMA: This is the Offensive pick that will make stars out of the RB core we already have and help whoever is at QB look better by giving him extra time in the pocket.

186: S ADRIAN AMOS - PENN STATE: BPA and team need. Mostly don’t put too much stock in 6-7th rounds but always hopeful to hit on a late round gem.

7th RD:
204: G BEN BECKWITH - MISSISSIPPI STATE: BPA and depth for the OL.

Well there it is for what it's worth. I purposely did not take a QB in this draft because I see this draft having good quality depth across the trenches that can potentially allow the Browns to use all the picks they need, if any, to move up and get the Franchise QB of the future next year. I may have missed on the ILB/OLB but those positions seemed thin to me this year. I would go with what we have or get some Vet FA or UDFA to fill in at depth. If need be look at those positions early next year.

Anyone care to offer their thoughts?

Hears to hoping Dorsey is the Browns Ozzie Newsome.

This is where my head is at the moment...

Round 1 Pick 12: DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville (A)
Round 1 Pick 19: Preston Smith, DE, Mississippi State (B)
Round 2 Pick 11: Paul Dawson, OLB/ILB, TCU (B-)
Round 3 Pick 13: Grady Jarrett, DT, Clemson (A)
Round 4 Pick 12: B.J. Finney, C, Kansas State (A)
Round 4 Pick 16: Darren Waller, WR/TE, Georgia Tech (D+)
Round 5 Pick 11: Jalston Fowler, FB, Alabama (A)
Round 6 Pick 13: Clayton Geathers, SS, UCF (B-)
Round 6 Pick 26: Ryan Russell, DE, Purdue (C)
Round 7 Pick 12: Antwan Goodley, WR, Baylor (D)

Parker, Smith, Dawson, Jarrett and Waller are the guys I'd expect to provide immediate impact.

Very good. I think I read where Manton is trying to be a punter in the NFL, even though he did both at college. That, and he has no experience as a cold weather kicker, has me leaning toward Ficken from Penn State. But if that is our draft, I'm dancing.

I will admit to not being very knowledgable about college kickers.. I just picked the highest rated one..

I honestly doubt we'll even draft one.. As you can sign a couple as UDFA and have them battle it out with Hartley (if he's even still here?)

As you have pointed out yourself these DIY draft generators are flawed. I try not to indulge in the obvious miss-evaluation of prospects. But they have consistently undervalued Goodley throughout draft season. I think a 4-5 round grade is probably fair for him. He can return kicks and I see him being able to do some Percy Harvin type stuff also.

I took Stefon Diggs with our 2nd 6th rounder and got a D for it...

And apparently you get a D- if you take any kicker at all..

I keep doing these, and if I take a WR and DT in the first, I always seem to miss out on the good edge rushers. So this time I took Beasley first, and this is the result (composite big board.)

12: R1P12 OLB VIC BEASLEY CLEMSON
19: R1P19 DT DANNY SHELTON WASHINGTON
43: R2P11 TE MAXX WILLIAMS MINNESOTA
77: R3P13 WR NELSON AGHOLOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
108: R4P12 OT DONOVAN SMITH PENN STATE
112: R4P16 QB BRYCE PETTY BAYLOR
139: R5P11 WR STEFON DIGGS MARYLAND
173: R6P13 FB JALSTON FOWLER ALABAMA
186: R6P26 C MAX GARCIA FLORIDA
204: R7P12 DE JERMAURIA RASCO LSU

(edited to add) I took Rasco simply as the BPA in the 7th, where I have been taking a PK.

I hadn't done one of these in about a week, and they added CBS as one of the big boards. So I too another whirl...

12: R1P12 DT MALCOM BROWN TEXAS
19: R1P19 DE ALVIN DUPREE KENTUCKY
43: R2P11 TE MAXX WILLIAMS MINNESOTA
77: R3P13 OT TY SAMBRAILO COLORADO STATE
111: R4P12 QB BRYCE PETTY BAYLOR
115: R4P16 WR CHRIS CONLEY GEORGIA
147: R5P11 FB JALSTON FOWLER ALABAMA
189: R6P13 WR STEFON DIGGS MARYLAND
202: R6P26 C MAX GARCIA FLORIDA
229: R7P12 K SAM FICKEN PENN STATE

It was a tough call between Dupree and Parker at 19, but I decided WR had more depth.

(edited to add) In retrospect, I probably should have gone C instead of taking Petty in the 4th.

That's it, I'm addicted. I will be joining JFF in rehab soon. I know this is a flawed generator. The results vary greatly from run to run, even using the same criteria. And it doesn't matter which big board you use, it always uses the FanSpeak list of needs and need weighting.

I tried a new approach this time, for the most part letting the draft come to me and drafting the best available player (by CBS rank) at positions of need. There were exceptions; Brown and Odighizua in the first, Fowler in the 5th, and Diggs in the 6th were moderate reaches.

Brown is my top pick at NT. I know many prefer Shelton, but I want Brown if available. Odighizua is new on my radar. At first I dismissed him because of the hip surgery. In my mind that automatically made him too much of a health risk for that high a pick. But then others here have been advocating him, so I looked at tape. I am impressed, and if he can be that disruptive post surgery, and he can pass an NFL physical, I want him.

Others on the board have also sold me on Fowler and Diggs so I took them when they came closer then my next pick.

12: R1P12 DT MALCOM BROWN TEXAS (CBS rank 15)
19: R1P19 DE OWAMAGBE ODIGHIZUWA UCLA (CBS rank 29)
43: R2P11 WR SAMMIE COATES AUBURN (CBS rank 39)
77: R3P13 C HRONISS GRASU OREGON (CBS rank 59)
111: R4P12 TE JEFF HEUERMAN OHIO STATE (CBS rank 91)
115: R4P16 OT ROB HAVENSTEIN WISCONSIN (CBS rank 115)
147: R5P11 FB JALSTON FOWLER ALABAMA (CBS rank 157)
189: R6P13 WR STEFON DIGGS MARYLAND (CBS rank 194)
202: R6P26 ILB HAYES PULLARD USC (CBS rank 196)
229: R7P12 QB CODY FAJARDO NEVADA (CBS rank 238)

Been home sick, nothing better to do...

Round 1 Pick 12: Cameron Erving, OT/OG, Florida State (B+)Erving address multiple problems.
Round 1 Pick 26 (BALT): Jordan Phillips, DT, Oklahoma (B)As part of a three man NT rotation he is a fit.
Round 2 Pick 11: Paul Dawson, OLB/ILB, TCU Best instincts of any LB in draft
Round 2 Pick 26 (BALT): Devin Smith, WR, Ohio State (A-)
Round 3 Pick 13: Jeff Heuerman, TE, Ohio State (B)
Round 3 Pick 26 (BALT): Eric Rowe, CB/FS, Utah (B-)Versatile DB
Round 4 Pick 12: Anthony Chickillo, DE, Miami (Fla.) (A-)
Round 4 Pick 16: Davis Tull, OLB, Chattanooga (B+)Scouts say he has starter skills as pass rusher

If we selected the 8 above and traded the balance of our picks for 16' I'd be happy

Round 5 Pick 11: Ladarius Gunter, CB, Miami (Fla.) (D)
Round 6 Pick 13: Antwan Goodley, WR, Baylor (F)
Round 6 Pick 26: Junior Sylvestre, OLB/ILB, Toledo (F)
I live in Toledo, see a lot of Rocket football. Put him behind Whitner for a year or two he'll perform.
Round 7 Pick 12: Jermauria Rasco, DE, LSU (D)

LOL, Yeah, I know this chaffes you hind parts. As much player stock has risen and fallen on First Pick Goodley has been consistently undervalued. I think he is a late 4 or 5th round pick easily.

I see so quick reply refers to the original post. I'm curious why you would use it - just thinking out loud.

Round 7 Pick 12: Jermauria Rasco, DE, LSU (D)

300+ DE....so Jamarcus Russell couldn't have chosen a better disguised Alias? laugh

Tab, If you use the quick reply at the bottom of the page it will show as a reply to the original poster, if you click the reply or quick reply button in a person's post it will reply to that individual.

I'm gonna predict that we pick DT Malcom Brown at #12 and OT La'el Collins at #19 or vice versa.

12, Amari Cooper, Wr

19, Erik Flowers, OT

Rd2. Melvin Gordon, Rb Wisc.

Rd3. Doran Grant, CB, Ohio State.

Rd4. Jeff Heurman, TE Ohio State, this guy was really a toss up for me to grab with my previous pick, I'm glad he was still available at 111.

Rd 4, Qb Bryce Petty, 115th, ... qb mannion went in the three intermittent picks between 112-114

Rd 5, Kurtis Drummond, Safety Michigan St. 147th overall

Rd6, Ben Beckwith, OG Mississippi St. 189th.

Rd 6, Curtis Grant, Ilb Ohio State, why not get 3 buckeyes, 202nd ovr.

Rd7, Antwan Goodley, Wr Baylor, Sure why not. 229th.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.
