Man, that game that Harrison was leveling guys!

Mangini had the perfect chance, too. The possession after a dirty hit (MoMass I think), PIT was punting out of their end zone with like 8 seconds left in the half.

A 15 yard penalty for slaughtering the punter would not have impacted the game at all. I would have sent 10 guys after him. We just took a fair catch and trotted away.

No. Pretty much everyone except people in Chicago and some in Florida hate him.

If the rules that applied in the first 82 games of the season didn't suddenly change in the postseason, NONE of this would have happened. The Celtics WNBA player would have had a foul called on him well before the "tie-up" or even at the start of it. J.R. Smith would never had swung because a foul should have been called WELL prior when he was getting worked over like a prison inmate in a Sons of Anarchy episode. Perkins wouldn't have to go out there and make his presence known if all the fouls LBJ took that were not called had been and all the prior crap everywhere else would simply be called. IF NBA referees weren't worse than the "refs" of the WWE, then none of this crap happens.

He shouldn't be suspended. Again, intent has got to play a role and he did not turn around and take a swing at the guy. If Crowder hadn't have been backing up at the time it would have been an elbow the ribs at the most. Smith had no way of knowing that he would contact the guy in the face because he didn't look at him.

If he'd looked over his shoulder and then swung it would have been clear that he was trying to hit the guy. Instead it's pretty obvious that he was just trying to clear him out and get him off his back.

I believe that Crowder's injury is the only reason this was even called a flagrant foul.

But there isn't a single Cavs fan that wouldn't love to have Noah on the Cavs. And if you say you wouldn't, you're either lying or not thinking clearly.

He's the type of player that makes the difference between champion and runner-up when the rest of the pieces fall into place e.g., Rodman.

So you say him look at Crowder? Or are you saying that J.R. Smith is a martial arts expert who can land punches and kicks while blindfolded?

He was trying to hit him but I agree that it was intended to be an elbow to the chest, not a hand to the face.

If he gets suspended for more than one game it's a joke. Anybody know how many multi-game suspensions there have been this year for on-court activity? I'm thinking zero, despite punches thrown, intentional shots to the groin, etc... So to give a multi-game penalty in the playoffs in a series the refs let get completely out of hand starting at the very beginning would be a sham.

I would hope that the powers that be would consider the entire game (perhaps series) and how rough it was - and also the forearm shiver Crowder gave just prior to that. The complete shove he gave that instigated the entire thing.

I would hope. I wouldn't bet on it.

The more I watch the Love play, the more convinced I am that Olynyk was trying to hurt him. I doubt he was TRYING to dislocate his shoulder because this isn't a sci fi movie where people just know how to do that on the fly.. but he had his arm locked up, was making absolutely zero attempt to make a play toward the ball and twisted his entire body away from Love knowing he was going against Love's ability to free his own arm.

The ESPN bottom line said the Cavs are seeking a 2nd opinion on his shoulder and that's why we don't have a timetable for him yet. Not sure if that's good or bad news.

I'm getting sick of the national media BS with the whole, "He didn't PLAN to go out there and hurt him". As if he could pre-meditatively plot out a missed rebound, getting Kevin Love in the right position and then executing his best laid plans to injure him. That's absolutely absurd ... Then again, most of what I've seen out of the national media the last day or so about this has been absurd ...

But take one look at the photos below. He realized he had his arm in a precarious position and decided right then-and-there that he was going to try and injure him. There is no way that was incidental. He looks like a mad man trying to do damage.

Agreed. I said this on another forum... He should be suspended for at least as many games as Love is out. Whether he intended to seriously injure him or just physically assail him is not the point. He took him out with a clearly intentional action. That has to be punished more seriously than a normal foul.

It was great to see Smith do what we'd all want him to do, but you can't do that in the playoffs (in game 45 of the regular season, GO FOR IT!). With Kevin out for maybe 1-2 weeks, we need Smith's scoring more than ever to start the series with the Bulls. If both are out for the first four games, we might only win 1, if we're lucky.

If this were the NHL, nobody would be suspended for anything that happened yesterday. But it's the NBA, and they suspend players for taking swings.

It sucks to think the Cavs season can be over in 5-6 games from today, and it's all going to be over some stupid throw away game against the Celtics.

Oh well.

And it's mostly official, Kevin is out for the whole 2nd round.

#Cavs have ruled Kevin Love (shoulder) out of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Yep pretty much the season there. Bulls in 5. This is where my gripe of not having any scoring on the bench is validated. Watching jones go 3-13 in playoffs and delly being his normal worthless self. Not sure how you make up a KLove. Maybe time to see what miller and Marion have left. Not sure if Harris made the playoff roster or not. But Noah is going to have a field day. All we can hope is Chicago this series goes to 7 and jr doesn't get suspended.

It's a blow but no way bulls gonna beat us in 5. We still got the best 2 players on the floor.

Mosgov and Gasol is gonna be the matchup to watch.

nothing like an acute anterior inferior glenohumeral dislocation with the corresponding ligament/labrum tearing and humeral head bone bruising to ruin your day.

Big series for Tristan Thompson. He'll earn his next contract this series, one way or another.

Windy seems to think it will be James Jones or Mike Miller. While Tristan's rebounding is badly needed for starter minutes, he and Mozzy would clog the lanes.

I think you'll see Irving, Shump, Lebron, Jones, Mozgov.

Tristan will come in when Mozgov out, and I think you may see Shawn Marion a little bit. It's going to have to be a group effort off the bench.

They just have to protect home court. Maybe Lebron or Kyrie can go nuts in a game in Chicago but otherwise, the are going to have to ride good shoting and smart play by Mozgov not to get into foul trouble. He's gotta pick his spots when dealing with Gasol.

Wow. No Love for the whole series and no Smith for games one and two. The Cavs might really lose this series. Good thing Smith "stuck up for his team," they certainly couldn't use him.

Looks like JR Smith got two games, and Olynyk only got one (in next year's regular season, which is complete crap)

Gonna be much harder to win it all without Love in the lineup, that's for sure. Gotta do like they always say ..... next man up, and no excuses.

The Bulls did get a huge early Christmas present though, that's for sure.

The Olynyk suspension will probably be increased to 4 games though, because you know he'll hide on the bus the three times they play Cleveland next year.

My only guess is that they are looking at "past history". JR has been suspended before, while this is Olynyk's first public showing of sociopath-ism.

JR didn't sell it enough.

Look it sucks not having him, but he got what he deserved. He didn't keep his cool. They did a good job the entire series up until that game. Perkins' pick on Crowder should have been it. Their entire team was dirty the whole series, but the Cavs have a lot more to play for than thuggery on a 40-42 team that didn't even deserve to be in the playoffs.

The good thing is the team has at least 5 days plan their attack.

well, this series just got a whole lot tougher IMO.

Chicago has Noah and Pau ... with Love we'd be able to "stretch" one of them out to the perimeter.

Without Love we won't have that ability.

Our best shot may be to put Lebron at 4 (have him guard Noah) and be a free safety on D

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
