just what do you think is going to happen if we show no improvement this year?
Hopefully, for once the franchise just takes the beating it will receive from the media and fans and remain committed to their plan. Bradford is cut from that same cloth bro he can throw a laser then on the next play throw a ball 40 yards down the field and drop it on a dime and his pocket awareness his uncanny and he is fearless his pre and post snap reads are flawless and with weapons and an Oline he is as close to unstoppable as any QB to ever say hut hut. Without injury you NEVER get a shot at these guys he has that big of an upside.
Nothing in this draft or in next years draft touches his potential. We will almost never get a shot at a guy with his upside his gifts are that rare, and yes he has a lengthy injury legacy, but man oh man in the right situation where he is well protected he is your A ticket to uncharted adventure.
No offense intended but this is where you lose me. I'm not aware of anyone who is either an analyst, reporter or NFL executive, current or former who shares this evaluation of Bradford. The Ram's clearly didn't value him this way. Most observers have questioned his fit in Kelly's scheme so his talent isn't considered so elite that he can play in any system. At this point I think you may be over estimating him. If he were the player you describe then the Eagles should be able to package him and their 20th and move to the Titan's pick without an intermediary like Cleveland. It's the fact that Cleveland holds a pick that is valued as a better trade incitement than the player that make any of this a possibility. It's the Brown's perceived desperation for a QB that drives his value that makes him uniquely attractive to Cleveland alone. Houston, Arizona, Buffalo, Washington and maybe Chicago should all be calling Chip if Bradford were at the level you suggest.

How are our WRs better than Tampa Bay's? I posted this video earlier in this thread. (Sorry, I haven't yet figured out how to post video within the thread) All of Bradford's throws over 15 yards. That was posted on YouTube 2 years ago. If you watch the video you'll find yourself feeling sorry for Bradford as he makes great throws in the clutch time and again but gets nothing for it by virtue of WR's falling down and dropping well thrown balls. Our current crop of WR's is much better than I see in this video. Don't mess with me man. At 63 I just retired. Within my own aura I'm the Cock o' the Walk with No Regard for the Clock.

Guard watch the video Bradford will blow you away. My eyes do NOT lie what keeps people away is fear and they do what most of this board does they look at stats only or they ape he is an injury waiting to happen and focus more on that then the elite talent he is. His value has gone down due to injury and the poor football teams he played on thats why I value him and his value when he is healthy is off the charts watch the video you will soon be a BIG time believer too.

[quote=E.Ryze19]What was the Rams record with a healthy Bradford? If I recall they sucked. He has the skills, but has done nothing to earn the money he was given. Bradford was on a crap team with a crap OL and crap WR's who dropped balls like we did a couple of years ago. Every throw Bradford made over 15 yards. This was posted on YouTube 2 years ago... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhLDkYravNA... sorry, I don't know how to link a YouTube video into the thread. really can't see how you blame Bradford in that video
I guess by my not making a comment on the video that I didn't make my point clear. I thought anyone watching that video would see that Bradford had little to no blame on the outcome of the vast majority of the incomplete passes. My other point I hoped the video showed for me is how accurate he is and the good decisions he made on all of those throws which were all over 15 yards.

Again Bradford's ability to throw the football isnt the question. His ability to take a hit and not break something is. Rehabbing isn't easy and I understand why he contemplated retirement and if he suffers another injury, It is very doubtful that he would even try to make a return.
The first rumor was we offered a 2nd to the Rams for Bradford and this was before we signed McCown. The rumors after that went crazy as Chip tried to sale to the world he wasnt stupid and this mystery team offered him a first for Bradford. Casserly and Lacanfora said the team that offered the first was the BRowns and they also reported that Johnny was gonna be on IR for the year and that Haslam was trading the browns for the Titans. Then they came back said we agreed to trade 19 but not 12. You know those 7 spots were so valuable that we wouldnt give them up for a franchise QB.
Now we have crazy talk of trading 2 firsts for him. We are trying to trade 3 firsts to move up to 2. I think they are full of crap.

I was thinking, I never posted those exact words (even though I do agree with you). Looks like you combined some of my post and yours. Like I said, look at the pass at the 8:49 mark. And the first 11 mins of the video, a very high percentage of his passes were on the mark. I thought most of his throws were very impressive, even the incompletions. I'm also a big supporter for him, but I can see the other side of the coin and ask that video is from 2 years ago....has injuries diminished his skills (b/c of mobility, age, etc)?

It is unfortunate for Bradford that he got hurt right when the Rams started getting talent at WR and RB.
Sam Bradford has all the talent in the world. If the Browns want to make a move for him, do it. But you have to have resolve that he is your present and future. Because you can't risk a 1st rounder for a 1 year rental who doesn't play well.
you had a good run Hank.

The timing is actually perfect in my opinion.
Possibly there is a misunderstanding which wouldn't be the first or last.
When I say the timing isn't right I'm not talking about the Browns. I think if we get a Rivers or a healthy Bradford on our team we are SB contenders.
My point in the "Timing isn't right" is that I have Championed Bradford in discussions from pre-draft to years with the Rams to Rumors of him coming here (2012). I've always said he is an Elite QB and one of the most accurate in the NFL...that's when all would give me stats on completion % and other stuff. Well look at that tape and see how accurate he is.
So nobody has to convince me of his QB skills. I'm all over that.
The bad timing is the. 1. One year on his contract. We have to sign him to 5 years! 2. The 2 years he basically has been out of football due to Torn ACL on the same knee. Note he is not participating in Camp cause he STILL IS REHABBING!
It is that timing that I'm referring to - the circumstanced that surround him now.
Look if we get him and can sign him to 5 years - I'm all for that. In my opinion Manziel still starts this season. Let Bradford completely heal. There is pedestrian 100% ok then there is Football 100% ok. The extra months the better. If Manziel is becoming a stud totally different dilemma one I would love to have. But if we are a tad over .500 but Manziel is struggling and we come to our bye with 6 games remaining....Maybe that is where he can start for that 6 game crunch. Into the Playoffs. My point is if we want him to pay for us for 4 years at a top elite pace. We should let him heal!
But to trade for him hoping we will sign him long term and I have read its the numbers that has been talked about that have them saying - just forget about it don't even approach us with that contract.
I try to remember all details that seem to be genuine and bank it. If it is that important to have a link then just disregard it. I know I have read what I have read....some stuff I don't bank in the Memory safe I don't have a clue on.
Anyways timing for the Browns....we are ready to kick butt with a Rivers and Bradford. Timing for Bradford's career is just not there right now because of the things I presented.

I think next offseason would be the right timing on Bradford.
If Philly is trying to trade the guy, they probably aren't going to sign him to the blockbuster deal he wants. All signs point to free agency after 2015, CLE or Philly.
See how he plays in Philly, let them deal with the injury. Save our draft pick, then make our push once we know what we are getting.

Yeah but he got hurt last year.. So technically this is going to be a year he plays 16 games..
Next season he will likely be out after the second preseason game..
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

I told myself I wouldn't repeat myself the contract isn't of concern to me. He will have a year under his belt and I think with Bradford behind center teams will respect our passing game like maybe never before which will allow us plenty of running room, which will allow us to carefully bring Bradford along so by the time he gets us to the play offs he is 100% healed and ready to take us to the promised land. But the contract no Tab we have plenty of doe-ray-me I think getting him signed is more a by product of winning and of course doe-ray-me and we will be able to provide him with both. But we get to take the car out and test drive it and make sure it doesn't break down on us before we part with assets. And then we could always franchise him if all else fails. But I wouldn't get to wrapped up in a contract right off the bat, my focus would be on getting him here and winning the rest will take care of itself. Just trust me on that part.

Not to leave my Homer page but on the negative when ever has things just worked out? lol
Especially when I heard we want to sign him to a Show me 6mil contract? That is where it angered Condon as Bradford wants at least the 12 mil he is playing this year with.
Cause of the knees we don't want to go into the 8 figures per season with him. which possibly is the sensible thing. I would have incentive clauses all over that - including 20 mil if we win the SB!!! Not 20 mil plus just total 20 mil as the ultimate incentive achieved.
The pay whatever it takes I don't think is realistic due to two Knee surgeries back to back and the limited games in 2 seasons. Why he probably hasn't signed in Philly...If Condon's starting point is 12mil per season. I don't think he has any takers. I'm all for incentives if he plays and if we go to playoffs, Championship, SB & Champions!

Oh and who would want a QB on their team that would sign a 6 mill per year show me contract when they already have a 13 Million deal inked. If the guy was stupid enough to take that deal I wouldn't want him in fact I would give him the 6 million just to go the hell away............. The contract doesn't concern me if money were tight for us then yeah I would be sweating a deal but we have more money in cap space then 95% of the league. Oh here I go again our problem isn't money our problem is we don't have a QB worth spit. It's going to be fun fun fun when Tenn is on the clock, I really do hope we do this deal for Bradford but its highly unlikely, but one can hope, right....

I have so wanted Bradford, but I think I am seeing the light, especially when I find he is "still" rehabbing.

You are confusing the hell out of me. You wrote this: Wasn't Hoyer 7-6 last season and not 7-4? Yeah, at one point he was 7-4 but went on to lose 2 more. JF and Shaw accounted for the other 3 loses.
Still, it's better than 1-10 but I don't feel it's a fair comparison anyway. With our talent, (compared to TB), I think McCown might have done better than 1 win. At least he'd better now that he has the chance.
On the other hand, I think we lost 2 games by missed field goals. Easy field goals. So then I guess Hoyer would have been 9-4. But he wasn't.
It just goes to show how much the team, it is a team, depends on all the players. It's something that needs to be considered for McCown too.
Now I'm no big McCown fan. But I am hoping for his best. With our running game and WR's he should be better, win wise, than he was last year. It was about McCown and Tampa Bay. I then asked you how are our WRs better than Tampa Bay's and you answered by talking about Bradford and the Rams' WRs. I'm not following, bro.

A few years back one of the all time greats of the game had a career threatening injury in fact it knocked him out of the game for better then a full season and involved him having major surgery on his neck of all places. You know who that guy is based on your thinking and this is what convinced me would you have signed that player to a huge contract with a huge bonus and guaranteed money. In fact I think his deal was something in the range of 5 years and 90 million dollars I may be off I'm running on memery and I'm old so forgive me. But you wouldn't have done that deal? When you are speaking of a QB who has had a very healthy and productive career with one single major injury, I don't believe the scenario you outline is applicable. From his damaged shoulder requiring surgery in 2009 all the way through the multiple ACL surgeries, Bradford has had a long history of injury. Taking all of that into consideration to me it simply looks like a trend that has been ongoing for some time. If Mannings injury history had looked like that, no, I wouldn't have signed him. But it didn't.

Thinking about the Bradford possibility, why are we even talking about this?
Bradford's injury history... ...2007..red shirt freshman starter, concussion..started the next week.
...2009..first game of season, Bradford suffers 3rd degree AC joint sprain to right shoulder ..recovery time 3 to 6 weeks, Bradford returned after missing 3 games..in his 2nd game back, 1st qtr, re-injures right shoulder and has season ending shoulder surgery.
...2010..NFL rookie..played 16 games (7-9)..comp.60%, 18td/15int, 76.5 rate
...2011..high ankle sprain missed 6 games..out wk 7,8..12,13..15,16 (1-9)..comp.53.5%, 6td/6int,70.5 rate
...2012..played 16 games (7-8-1)..comp.59.5%, 21td/13int, 82.6 rate
...2013..played 7 games (3-4)..comp.60.7%, 14td/4int, 90.9 rate..Left ACL surgery Oct 20, 2013...Bradford injures L. ACL. Nov.18, 2013...Bradford has surgery for L. ACL..then rehab
...2014..Bradford played in the 2nd game of preseason, in 3rd preseason game Bradford re-injures L. ACL Aug.23, 2014...Bradford "re-injures" L. ACL against the Browns..9 months after his Nov.18, 2013 surgery. Sep.8, 2014...Bradford has 2nd ACL surgery on left knee.
Bradford's surgery #2 was nearly 8 months ago and he appears to be on schedule though the trade to the Eagles on March 10 may have set Bradford's rehab back a bit. On March 16, it was reported that Bradford met with Eagles to set up a new rehab program. Bradford did say that he began a throwing program 2-3 weeks before the trade.
NOT GOOD. NOT GOOD. NOT GOOD. Athletes, not surprisingly, are at higher risk of an ACL tear than the general public. Also not surprisingly, if you’ve torn your ACL once, you’re more likely to do it again, especially within the first year after the surgery. Even worse, revision ACL reconstructions are more likely to fail than primary reconstructions. Once Bradford has his knee fixed, the recovery clock will once again be reset, and may go longer than last time. link
Another point that needs to be considered...it was reported that Bradford considered retiring after the second ACL injury...
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sam Bradford contemplated quitting football after his 2014 ACL tear. Fellow former Oklahoma QB Josh Huepel reportedly had to talk Bradford out of it. This isn't exactly breaking news, as Bradford previously admitted to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he "didn't want to come back" following his latest injury. Still, the mere fact that Bradford contemplated retirement so recently sends up a red flag, particularly to teams interested in Bradford if the Eagles try to flip him in a draft-day trade up for Marcus Mariota. Since his college days, 27-year-old Bradford has undergone right shoulder surgery and two left ACL reconstructions. Mar 30 - 1:15 AMSource: Philadelphia Inquirer link
Since Bradford considered retiring and was talked out of it, he was told by the Rams that he would have to compete for the Rams starting job, possibly with a QB that the Rams drafted. ...then Bradford was traded to the Eagles.. ...then came reports that the Eagles just acquired Bradford to flip him for a draft pick. Shortly after that news came news from Bradford that he would not sign an extension with any team other than the Eagles...red flag!
I don't know how fragile Bradford's psyche is or if he is mentally strong enough to accept more changes and challenges. Anyone who has been through what Bradford has been through, would be questioning their desire to continue playing in the NFL. Bradford's contract with the Rams had $50 mill. guaranteed, so financially Bradford should be set, if he walks away from football today.
The trade to Philly reunited Bradford with the coach who helped to mold him into a NFL QB, Pat Shurmur, now the OC in Philly, who was the Rams OC when Bradford was drafted in 2010. I believe Bradford is comfortable with the trade the Eagles and wants play for them.
If Bradford is traded to the Browns, there is no way to know how Bradford feels about it. Would Bradford feel like he is experiencing his worst nightmare, being traded to Cleveland? Does he once again consider retirement? Bradford is not willing to sign an contract extension with any other team, but the Eagles.
I believe that comment speaks volumes an hopefully the Browns are listening.
The information above is based on "facts" and I realize that the Browns would be taking a huge risk if they trade for Bradford without a signed contract from Bradford, in hand first. But even with a contract signed, Bradford can't guarantee that he will be healthy enough to stay on the field and live up to expectations.
I believe there is way too much risk involved in a trade scenario where Bradford comes to Cleveland for a first round pick.

Yes! No! While we only have questions at QB, this off season does not seem to have any answers. Do not sell the farm on a QB that is not, and maybe never will be, ready to be an NFL QB.

I agree also. Let SB stay where he is or go play for someone else. If he comes here he is going to get hurt again, for that matter wherever he goes he is going to get hurt again. Another thing, it sounds to me like he is concerned about all his injuries, who wouldn't be, and he may not have his mind on the game itself because of this. JMO

I'm torn on Bradford. I'm not sure about his drive anymore and the mental aspect of getting over his injuries more than the injuries themselves. At the same time, He'd be the most talented QB on our roster since the comeback. I'd like to believe that the Browns' bad luck and Bradford's would cancel each other out, but that's most likely wishful thinking. I'd most likely have him playing in braces that were nearly full casts on both legs, but I don't want him running anyways. With the opportunity/draft costs, financial compensation he seems to want, and injury and drive concerns, I'm not sure I'd pull the trigger assuming the Eagles were even up for it. But, it's nice to dream what could be if it did all break right.

I have read all the reports Mac and the prognosis.
Players get ACL surgery all the time and never look back, and their risks are much higher RB's and WR's and they fully recover. Bradford's numbers were horrid in his time with the Rams but my eyes do NOT lie dude this cat can play when he is healthy and he is IMO as low a risk as we will EVER take on a QB with his pedigree.
I only hope we get a chance to find out as unlikely as that is. Do the deal Farmer take a risk..
I'm not sure what it is some of you are out to protect a 1st round pick for a chance at a franchise QB is low risk, but if you think we are going to get a QB any QB that comes without risk will never get one.
But why be so afraid too take a chance? with Bradford we have a chance without Bradford will get pummeled. Everyone gets to decide for themselves what they think is right but this deal assuming we can make a deal is right now, and losing without him is as close to a guarantee as you will find.
I take the shot nothing ventured nothing gained.
You guys seems to realize that without a QB we are sunk but you can't get it through your head we have to take chances to know success whats the worst we come out of this? down a 1st big deal would you risk a first for a chance to salvage this season? and seasons to follow? this is really easy if you do the math.

I'm torn on Bradford. I'm not sure about his drive anymore and the mental aspect of getting over his injuries more than the injuries themselves. My friend was talking about the mental aspect the other day. They say Bradford needed to be talked outta retirement, if that's true that is one major indicator he's not right mentally. He made the point too about Sam being in the pocket with the blood and guts going on, is he going to be focused on what's down field, or what's rolling around his legs for fear of a third tear to that knee.

How about this trade scenario from Bleacher/Report ... RGIII to Cleveland for DT Phil Taylor and The Browns 2015 3rd rd. pick ... Heck no! Take Phil out of it and I still wouldn't do it. RG3 for a 3rd rounder?? No way. Ever.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

The more I think about it and read, the more I hope we stay away from Bradford. If he was thinking about retiring already what stops him from coming into training camp and then deciding that he should retire. To give up 1st round draft picks and have that happen would be a disaster. And its not like that hasen't happened to the Browns before.

Mac...I think we're talking about Bradford cause there are 8 Draft rumors involving trades and at least 5 of them have us trading for Bradford...pretty much only reason we are talking about him.
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

As of now there are 44 pages of post on this subject. Didn't read them all so if this issue has already been discussed chalk it up to me coming late to the game.
Tom Condon, Bradford's agent, has a bug up his hind parts about the Browns. He'd be a huge impediment to getting Bradford signed here. Couple that with all of the other very solid reasoning and move on Cleveland.

Couple that with all of the other very solid reasoning and move on Cleveland. Condom is an agent he works for Bradford if Bradford tells him to get a deal done it will happen. This is weak guard, really weak. The truth as I see it. The Browns are still interested in Bradford but on terms that make sense for them. I don't know what Chippy thinks but I have to believe he still thinks MM is the best QB in the draft, and I think MM would be functional in Chippies offense. So the only question remaining is can the Browns and the Eagles reach a deal and are the Titans willing to move down? But the Browns want Bradford and IMO they should, but all this talk about dollars and agents is wasted talk Bradford will sign up if the price is right and if he believes he will win, we have money and enough talent to provide him with both. The only thing stopping this from happening is Chippy and the Titans if those things all line up it will get done... This is where Farmer earns his keep he must hang tough and even make it seem more and more likely the Browns will move up for MM this will get Chippy ready to deal. I could even see the Browns move up for MM and then deal him to Philly for a much higher price.... But don't lose hope brother the Browns (I hope) will get it done, we have too.....

Latest from Walter Football April 25 update: There's a projected three-team trade, as you can see in the rumors below. It would involve moving Sam Bradford to the Browns, allowing the Eagles to deal the Nos. 19 and 20 selections to Tennessee, as well as several players, for the second-overall choice. The Eagles traded for Sam Bradford. They re-signed Mark Sanchez. They recently added Tim Tebow. How can they possibly acquire yet another quarterback? Perhaps this was Chip Kelly's plan all along. It's no secret that Kelly covets his former signal-caller. It's possible that he could use Bradford in conjunction with the 20th pick and other players on the trade block (Evan Mathis, Mychal Kendricks) to move up to No. 2. The Eagles could even use the Browns as a third trading partner, as reported by Tony Pauline. Upon trading for Bradford, Kelly said that he will not mortgage the future for Mariota. This could've been smoke, and it could be argued that he's not mortgaging anything; I think he's crazy to trade the best guard in the NFL, but if Kelly doesn't envision Mathis as part of his future, then he's not giving up much in his mind. And besides, Bradford is a poor fit for Kelly's offense. The Eagles have not negotiated any sort of long-term extension with the former Ram signal-caller, so that's a sign that they are willing to deal him. If that happens, I might really quit rooting for the Browns.
No way can we be that stupid. No way!
