It will automatically download as soon as tomorrow. I'm sure it won't go to everyone tomorrow as they will do some sort of controlled rollout as Florida eluded to above.

I've been using win 8.1 for a couple years now....Hate it. I'm waiting for MS to send me the link to upgrade ASAP that I pre-ordered a few weeks ago on my Windows laptop.
My laptop isn't a touch screen so 8.1 really sucks on it.
Does anyone know if they are still using the UI for touch screens for non touchscreen laptops and how win 10 works for all that?
Also does anyone have the link to the software that blocks the adds here?
Thanks in advance for any links and info 8.1 sucks even with a touchscreen. Win10 UI is the same whether or not you have a touchscreen. The tablet type stuff is a bit less "in your face". I just wish they let you turn all the tablet stuff off.
It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

Oh.someone asked about not having the icon to upgrade. Your system has to be up to date on updates to get the icon, so make sure you have all of the latest updates installed. If you still don't see the icon, see here: The "Get Windows 10" app doesn’t appear in Windows 7 or 8.1 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3081048

Also, you can check to see if yours is downloading by looking in C:\$windows.~BT and if you have files in there, it's downloading.
Mine is downloading .... and i can't wait.
Also, evidently you have 30 days to roll back the install to your old O/S if you so choose.

Yeah, I had the hack tool and everything to force it to pop up but had no luck. It probably just had to do with how I bought my OS.
In other news, my copy of Windows 10 is being packaged at Newegg!

Vista was one of the less popular O/S MS came out with. Windows XP was a solid and well received O/S .... and thank goodness for MS that they got 7 right, or they could have been in real trouble.
I really think that Vista brought about the trend of the day where manufacturers started selling "clean" PCs, (without an O/S installed) and even Linux systems.
MS came out with 7 in something, like less than 3 years ..... and it was head and shoulders above Vista in every way.

Just upgraded the kid's computer to Win10 this morning. The process was pretty simple. Even with a modern processor, tons of RAM, and a 256GB SSD, the process still took about an hour, but it went flawlessly.
I didn't have much time to play with it before having to head off to work, but my initial impressions were that the new look/layout is nice and is still very intuitive for the longtime Windows user, yet it moves the UI forward with the use of tiles, etc, like Win8 was trying to do.

MS came out with 7 in something, like less than 3 years ..... and it was head and shoulders above Vista in every way. I wiped my drive, backed up files and all that jazz to upgrade from xp to Vista. Found myself downgrading back to xp in under a month's time. When Windows 7 came out, I wanted nothing... absolutely nothing to do with it initially as I fear MS had released another piss poor OS. Me personally, I love Windows 7. From what I'm gathering though, Windows 10 looking to hit the market will total brute force and make Win 7 and 8 users happy.

I liked 95 ... probably because it was on the 1st computer system I worked with. NT was a solid O/S, but limited as to what you could use with it. I hated 98. Hated it. Always crashing and having problems. I will say that 98 2nd edition was somewhat better, but it was still never as stable as it should have been, and the memory management stunk. Windows 2000 was one of MS's best O/S, IMHO. I loved it. Everyone kept saying that it was only a business operating system, and totally unsuitable for home use. BS. I had exactly 2 programs I was never able to make sworl in 2000, and both were unimportant. Then came Windows ME. Blech. What an awful O/S. Take 98, and screw it up further, and you had Windows ME. Awful, just awful. Next was XP. As bad as ME was, XP was even better. I loved XP. What a great O/S. This was evidence that MS really could do great things. Vista blew my confidence in MS all to heck again. The O/S had so many problems it wasn't even funny. It took MS 4 years to develop that pile of junk. Just terrible. I was really almost ready to give up on MS. My XP laptop was in danger of dying, and I was seriously ready to learn Linux. However, I read a lot of good things about 7 ... even though it had less than 3 years of development time .. so I decided to go with it. What a lucky decision, because 7 is MS's best operating system to date. Then came 8 ..... and horror stories galore. Not that it wasn't a stab;e system, because it was ..... not that it didn't have a lot of great new features, because it did ..... bu people couldn;t figure out how to do the simplest tasks. That alone makes this version a failure. Now 8.1 did add the start button back to the desktop, and other such features, but it took a massive update to do this. Now comes 10, and I am psyched. Everything I have read is positive. It appears to take 7, and the best features of 8, and joined them with new technology, and boom. Maybe MS's best O/S so far. It might be the first MS O/S that doesn't have obscene hardware requirements compared to the prior version. I can't want to work with 10. I think it's going to truly be a "10".

So much of this post (referring to YTowns) I can relate to. For me, I skipped Windows 2000 and Windows ME and had the blue screen generating Windows 98 going during those releases. After running XP for a few months, I wanted to write a thank you to MS because it made me realize just how crap Win98 really was. It's impossible to find someone to admit they liked ME.

Still nothing. It doesn't surprise me. I guess in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter if I get it today or tomorrow or the next day. It just doesn't feel like it's gonna happen today (sighs).

'Windows 10 Delayed Release Is Latest Microsoft Blooper' Windows 10 will launch on July 29th, but today Microsoft MSFT +2.17% has revealed this will only be for a very select group of users… In a new Windows blog post Terry Myerson, Microsoft VP of Operating Systems, gave us just weeks notice that Windows 10 will now have a staggered roll-out and the vast majority of upgraders will actually have to wait in line. “Starting on July 29, we will start rolling out Windows 10 to our Windows Insiders,” explains Myerson. “From there, we will start notifying reserved systems in waves, slowly scaling up after July 29th. Each day of the roll-out, we will listen, learn and update the experience for all Windows 10 users.” Read more: http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2015/07/02/windows-10-release-delay/

OK, I now know why I have only part of the O/S files downloaded. Evidently MS used the registration process to know who to download certain parts of the new O/S to that were not going to change, so they could download those files ahead of the release date to lessen the impact on their servers.
Man I wish I had the whole download. I can't wait to see this darn thing run!

I started the manual download on my home PC last night when I got home at 10, it was downloaded by morning, and I started the upgrade process before I left this morning, it was 13% done when I left.

There is an icon on the bottom of my screen (where the volume control and printer ready button are) that says "get windows 10"
Been there for months.. Probably should click on it, as you'll need to register if you wish to upgrade. I'll let you guys go first.. if you tell me it's amazing, then I'll bother with it, otherwise, I'll stay put.
