Yup. That was not the case this time. Just a bad joke (if you were intentionally trying to be super obvious and not funny with your joke, my bad).

Offense gets the most spots on the practice squad and defense gets the most spots on the active roster. It is what I would do. Defense you have to rotate a lot of guys. On O, most of the time you will only need the 1 QB, 1 or 2 RBs, 5 OL the others rotate but defense, everyone rotates.

So Farmer gives up a fourth and sixth to get West and then trades him for a seventh????

Freaking brilliant. Can you imagine if Banner had done that?

But most of you guys will continue to defend this moron.

If not for his undrafteds, he would be considered a total failure. Gilbert, Manziel, West and now Erving doesnt secure a starting spot.

Bitonio was an excellent pick.

I like Shelton. It's not a given yet, but he looks like a player.

I really dislike Orchard.

Mayle was a dumb pick.

I haven't liked Desir thus far, but that could change.

Gilbet is a dud.

JM was the wrong pick w/Teddy on the board.

Erving? Too early to say...

Banner traded up from 4 to 3 for Richardson. Then traded him for a late first..

Lenz I liked a lot. Liked him when he tore us up last year. I think he can be another Wes Welker. Just runs great routes and catches everything that comes his way.

That is a lie! H and H traded up for TRich in one of the best drafts of all time.

Banner tried cleaning up their mess.

I'm not sure if this is another post trying to pull Ver's chain, but if not, you may want to go back and check who drafted Richardson. You'll be shocked! He was pretty proud of it too. Same guy feeling special after drafting Weed in the same draft.

I was talking about the Browns. Not you. You chose to insult me.

It's what you guys do. You can't debate football talk in regards to the Browns, so instead, you insult posters.

How freaking gutty.

well, west didn't perform that well, on top of the fact that RB is a saturated position(Vers made that point last season).

so i dunno what people expected Farmer get outta this guy? The league learned their lessons about trading for RB's after Banner fleeced the dog crap outta the colts. now way we was gonna get back a 3rd for West.

My impression is that West wrote his own ticket out of town with his attitude. He have a couple of games where he was benched last year, the Johnson comment at draft time and any other items that suggest that he was a malcontent.

Now, I think Farmer did not do his homework on bringing in players that had issues and drama. I hope he learned his lesson and figures out what types of players are required.

My point isn't that Farmer should have received more in return for West. My point is that he spent WAY TOO MUCH to acquire him.

How is that even debatable?

Not enough, but probably more than Dion Jordan, who was the other option for us at number 6 in one of the worst draft classes of all time.

Didn't Banner's moves help the Browns reach 7 wins?

Draft picks get overvalued. Half the guys that get picked end up flaming out in 2-3 years max. Especially low round picks.

I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted him out in part to help with their message to the locker room. I think they lost some credibility with the guys regarding hard work when Lenz was cut (as made public by Whitner and Hartline) but cutting West who they have said is inconsistent and an underachiever pretty publicly at least lends some credibility towards those mantras.

Kinda makes sense, but why not cut Bowe or Pryor instead and keep Lenz?

Are you sure Hartline was talking about Lenz? Rumors about Hartline not liking Pryor go back to OSU days. To be fair to Hartline, he said he wasn't talking about anyone in particular.

The day they sign Ray Rice is the day I quit being a Browns fan. I'm not just saying that. I'd rather lose than have that POS on the team.

I do think Hartline was talking about Pryor for sure. Maybe about some other guys as well, like Housler, Gilbert, and West... and possibly Bowe.

Exactly. Regardless of who specifically Hartline had beef about, this enhances the credibility.

So last years draft is looking more and more like a complete fiasco. Two first rounders, zero starters. Now West is gone for a 7th? Alrighty then. Great job Farmer. LMAO

This year we had two firsts.... 1 starter. 1 starter in 4 first round picks. Add in Mingo(not on Farmers Tally) from the previous regime and we have a total of ONE starter out of FIVE first round picks the last 3 years. Boy howdy is that good drafting. Reminds me of the Raiders 10 years ago. Or the Bungles until recently.....I bought in to the Heckert era, but in hindsight he wasn't any better. Mangini was a HORROR show on draft day. The absolute fact is, our owners have SUCKED at picking talent evaluators from the day we reentered the league..... One bad GM after another. And unless Johnny turns in to Joe Montana or Dilbert becomes the next Rod Woodson, Farmer isn't looking very good either..... Can you imagine if we had drated four starters the last two drafts? Even if they weren't superstars, four good solid every down type of players at any position would have helped us a lot.......

Banner tried cleaning up the mess by drafting a one tool linebacker at SIX and then drafting a corner so bad in the second he didn't make the team the next year? Yes, in hindsight Heckert was as bad as the rest of them have been. I wanted to believe in him, but H and H let us all down terribly. That doesn't make Banner and Lombardi any better.... From 1999 to the present the Browns return has been cursed with lousy egotistical GMs Not a peach in the bunch. And Farmer is looking like yet another lemon. Unless some of these head cases start panning out, he's not long for these parts.
