Speaking of Bridgewater. Pro Football Talk is reporting the Browns spent $100k on an advanced QB study and the conclusion was Teddy Bridgewater was rated the highest in this class. As the article mentions, it will be interesting to see how the team uses the information of the report.

The article also notes, that the advanced report was started under Banner and just recently completed, so who know's how Farmer will value it is anyone's guess. Interesting though.

that was a dumb trade imo, i think dropping down to 9 takes away all the impact players...sure we can get someone good, but not game changing. and to not even get anything this year...farmer got schooled. bet the pick is Manziel

I forgot about the Julio Jones trade... I am very unhappy with this trade. More picks has yet to help us, I think you need pick Watkins at #4... You would have had one of the top offenses in the league.

Todd McShay gave a nice little stat about 1st and 2nd round WRs in the last 5 years today. Close to 70% have been busts. So I wouldn't put so much stock in a WR, that he's a guarantee stud.

As for your "we better win this year" comment, wouldn't that still hold true if we picked Watkins? Meaning, the pressure to win would have been the same. Right?

I don't know how to feel about that. I Don't think Bortles is all that.

A no brainier trade. The Bills gave a high first ( yes the Bills will still suck ) and a 4th. We will still get an elite player and if they didn't want a QB at 4 it makes the most sense to trade down.

You can't blame the Browns. Cleveland fans might be irritated that their team might have moved out of the fourth slot in a draft that might have five elite players, but trust us: The Browns had to make this move.
The Bills paid an insane price to move up from No. 9 to No. 4 to land Clemson's Sammy Watkins, an exciting player who will change their offense, but is he truly transcendent? We'll see. The message is clear in Buffalo — they will do what it takes to support EJ Manuel to improve over a somewhat lost rookie season.

Think Manuel is happy?

Watkins can help do that, and he has the look of a true No. 1 receiver. But the Bills have other needs, and they sacrificed two huge pieces in the 2015 NFL draft to do so.

That means the Bills believe they are contenders now. They would not give up what they think is a high pick otherwise.

Yep. More importantly, there are always solid WRs available in the offseason.

The free agent market is always deep and guys like Bolden, Brandon Marshall have been traded for peanuts compared to what we got.

STRENGTHS: In terms of pure athleticism, Gilbert is the class of the 2014 draft. He possesses remarkably light feet, allowing him to quickly drop in his backpedal while keeping his eyes trained on his receiver (and also sneaking a peek on the quarterback). The depth gained allows him to be patient when flipping his hips to turn and run downfield or plant and explode in either direction as receivers attempt to cross in front of him.
Gilbert changes directions fluidly and has impressive acceleration to handle deep coverage responsibilities against speedy receivers. Gilbert possesses prototypical height and overall frame for the position with broad shoulders and long arms. He extends well to snatch the ball out of the air and times his leap well. Gilbert is a willing tackler, who closes quickly and effectively.

WEAKNESSES: Gilbert can be physical and tough in press coverage, but his technique and footwork are inconsistent. He is too grabby in tight coverage, and his contact downfield will easily attract penalties at the next level.

Gilbert can get himself in trouble when biting on fakes and pumps as he's highly aggressive. He has a bit of a cover-corner mentality when it comes to run support. He flashes the competitive drive to fight through blocks and make the play but is often willing to allow teammates to make the play if they nearby. Gilbert will also lower his shoulder and lunge occasionally, missing tackles he shouldn't.

COMPARES TO: Terence Newman, Cincinnati Bengals - Gilbert offers extraordinary athleticism, including natural receiving skills, agility and acceleration make him a potential early first round selection and Pro Bowl cornerback and returner. Dedication to his craft and Gilbert could be a true difference-maker at the next level.

PLAYER OVERVIEW

Michigan State's Darqueze Dennard may have earned the Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back but Gilbert could get the last laugh when it comes to the NFL.
Given the way that the passing game has taken over the NFL, the value of defenders capable of creating turnovers has never been higher - and no one is better at this than Gilbert - a dynamic athlete who led the Big 12 with seven interceptions in 2013 (two of which he returned for touchdowns) and has returned six kickoffs for scores over his career in Stillwater, as well. I love the CB pick ..... and if you look at the Seahawks model, which we seem to be following, they had 3 great cover corners ....... and we now have 2. I am not as enamored with Skrine as some, and I think that he'll be much better in the slot.

I don't know that he would be there. There was speculation that MIN would take him, and their defense was terrible.

If the Cowboys take Manziel they are even more dumb than everyone thought.

It wouldn't surprise me to pop a 4th rounder to move up a few spots from 26 for our QB, if we have to.

QBs are likely to drop from this point. Who takes one until we pick again?

Maybe the Rams? Not too many others. Maybe the 'Boys make a splash with Manziel. Who knows? I think that we'll be able to make a move for our QB when the time is right.

I'm guessing the Vikings were offered a trade from someone to move up to the spot, but offered the Browns the chance to sweeten the deal even more for them. If the Vikings were able to convince the Browns that they were going to take their man one pick ahead of them, the Browns pulled the trigger.

Just a guess mind you. I doubt we'll ever know the reason why.

They just resigned him with what, a $25 million bonus ,,, then restructured him again this year to push his money even further into the future to make room under the cap. He's not going anywhere anytime soon. They cannot cut Romo, and they don't have room for Manziel.
