Anyways, I thought to start another thread on this uniform topic since the unveiling is just a few days out.

Also, the Cleveland Orchestra did a similar thing today with their logo. Even our own are doing it!

The marketing department becoming even more of a laughingstock now that April 1st gives others the excuse.

On the April Fools side of things, I gotta admit 100% - I bit hardcore on the draft pick/textgate joke. I bit 100% on it, haha...

I don't know about the people who put it together, the logo itself is not bad. I might consider firing the marketing people who made it out to be a significant change, when they knew full well it wasn't.

Im just surprised in this day and age that someone hasnt leaked or hacked into it somewhere to reveal before its announced....the suspense is killing me. I hope they really change things up or we will once again be laughed at like our "new" logo....either change it completely or not at all is my opinion

Those are not the new uniforms. I would bet money on it. We have heard that gray will be a color in the scheme, and that the Browns jersey will be going away.

Because that is one of the primary rumors that has been making the rounds ever since the news of new uniforms came out.

That design you posted (manziel) is the best I've seen! I don't think that will "materialize" though.

The other recent pic (Haden)...I like the orange jerseys, always have. But orange will be an alternate jersey, we might see it once a year.

Nothing official. I just don't see orange as a regular jersey, more of a special occasion. Once or twice a year is what I expect on the orange.

My point was. Besides adding the orange jersey, and changing the stripes on the pants, and altering the shoulder stripes a bit..

I'm pretty sure that is a new rule as part of the new concussion protocol. I don't think anyone has had alternate helmets in a couple of years.

The Eagles and Bucs wanted to wear their old school Kelly Green and Bright Orange uniforms this past season..

The NFL said they could, but they would have to wear their current helmets with them.

Ha! I know it's a mock up. My bad. I guess I should have provided the tweet comment that accompanied the photo. It says they look similar to that, but not quite.

It also provided a very decent matte finish to it.

I like the matte finish, I think the color is a bit off, needs to be a more "candy" orange I think.. Based off the logo..

I really like the brown and orange scheme we've got going on here. I never liked the orange unis from seasons prior as they wore white pants. Now it all blends together.

Even the white jersey pops, too!

I'm a fan if these are legit.

I would still like to see the white jerseys with orange pants.

My guess is that the will be able to mix and match. Brown with Brown, orange with orange, white with orange, brown with white, orange with white, etc.

If these are the ones I like them.

They were bound to leak as they have to be ready for sale the day they are unveiled. Stores have to have them in warehouses, ready to put on the racks.

Is it me? or are these helmets two-tone? One side matte and the other shiny? When is the release date?

There's too much evidence for those to not be our new uni's. I'm okay with them, I wanted a little "more", but considering nobody else have those stripes where they are, it's unique. And I guess I like the "Cleveland" on the chest too.

I still won't buy a new jersey though.

I'd have to question how those were shipped to stores a week early. I'd imagine someone within the Browns front office is calling a Nike official and asking how jerseys were allowed to leave a manufacturing plant with all the time and money went into this redesign.

I'm with you. When newly designed jerseys are showing up in the stores, it's most likely our new jerseys. I plan on buying new gear when they show me a product worthy of me financially supporting.

I'm not opposed to this new jersey, but it also doesn't make me feel compelled to go out and buy one. To me the product is the team. New marketing without a winning team simply doesn't do anything for me.

If those are the jerseys, I'm ok with it. Gives it something a little new without a dramatic departure from the old.

I know I'll be in the minority but I'm glad to see the orange jerseys make a return.

I actually already own an Orange Browns jersey (BE#17 - Used on eBay for $15). I liked them, though the Orange was a bit too light, but I never liked them with the White pants. If they're wearing them with the Browns pants, I'm in. And the same goes with the Orange pants and Browns jerseys, those are the good away or alternate combinations.

I do like the all Brown combination too, but I don't care enough about it to be upset if we never see it again.

Based on what was said about having 30 something uniform options, I'd say a Orange jersey is a given.

Blah. I don't like the color orange. Other than Brown's t-shirts, I don't have any clothes that are orange. I don't have orange in my kitchen, my living room, or anywhere in my house. I have never owned an orange car. It's probably the cheesiest color of all time.

I was hoping we would at least go w/burnt orange metalic helmets, but no........we stick w/pumpkin orange.

Those orange jerseys ls just like the one on Cleveland.com of Jamel White back in 2002. The only difference is the words cleveland on the front. Plus I doubt they will say dawgpound inside the collar. I think they are just something that has been thrown out there to get people to buy it.

With all the hoopla about the unveiling, I doubt highly they are the real thing.

They'll use nine of their top players to unveil their nine new uniform combinations at the Cleveland Convention Center.

The players are left tackle Joe Thomas, safety Donte Whitner, defensive end Armonty Bryant, linebackers Karlos Dansby, Barkevious Mingo and Chris Kirksey; and receivers Dwayne Bowe, Brian Hartline and Taylor Gabriel.

In addition to the current players showing off the long-awaited uniforms, the Browns will have nine alumni gracing the orange carpet: Hall of Famer Jim Brown, Hanford Dixon, Dan Fike, Bob Golic, Kevin Mack, Greg Pruitt, John Thierry, Jamel White, and Felix Wright.

The unveiling, which is open to select season ticket holders, will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and will be broadcast live from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. by Browns' new TV partner Newschannel 5.

Also on hand for the gala will be Browns owner Jimmy Haslam, team president Alec Scheiner and representatives from NIKE, who spent the past two years designing the uniforms in conjunction with the Browns.

"We're cautiously optimistic and hopeful that the fans will really like it and the players will really like it," owner Jimmy Haslam said at the NFL annual meeting in Phoenix last month.

Fellow owner Dee Haslam is confident the Browns struck the right balance between progress and tradition.

"I think I can fairly say that,'' she said at the annual meeting "That was the goal, to balance it well. I think we've done that."

She knows, however, that it's difficult to please everyone.

"There's going to be a zillion opinions on whether (people) like it or don't like it," she said. "At the end of the day it's how you play the game."

Whitner, a Cleveland native and Glenville High grad, enthusiastically gave the new uniforms a thumbs up after getting a sneak preview recently.

And at a press conference in February to discuss the Browns new logos, Scheiner promised that the new duds will be more exciting than the logos were.

"I do think we'll move the uniform farther ahead than the logo,'' he said. "We were very respectful of the logo, and I think our fans have given us permission to move forward quicker with our uniforms. We're always trying to strike the balance (between moving forward and tradition). I feel like with the Nike and the NFL and the people in our building, we've done a really good job with that. Even though it will be more radical in the mark evolution, we're still kind of keeping the things our fans care about.''

He added that he was excited about the new looks, which includes a modernized helmet.

"Once again, what's important is we push ourselves forward, match the energy and forward-thinking of the city, but link to our tradition and respect our tradition which is an incredible tradition,'' he said.

Photos of the purported new uniforms have leaked out, including one from a store in Columbus that put a batch of the orange ones its shelves and then later pulled them.

The new jerseys might not look exactly like that, but they're likely to be very close. According to leaked photos, the new uniform includes jerseys and pants in orange, brown and white, which can be used in nine different combinations.

With these nine combos, what I want to know, who gets to be all orange tomorrow might?

My guess is Taylor Gabriel.

There is a rumor that brown will not be a primary color for the new uniforms, and that gray will replace it.

It will be interesting to see which rumors were accurate, and which were not.

I'm more of a tradition kinda guy, but change is gonna happen regardless.

I like these unis. Hope this is the way it goes. Anyway, tonight at 7:30pm on Channel 5 WEWS is when we'll find out.

I think it is obvious that gray is not a part of the new jerseys. The leaked jerseys are the ones.

Those are the replicas, you can tell by the non-stitched numbers and such. The authentic ones will look much better.

Agreed. Still don't know how much I like the orange jersey but it is an upgrade from the prior version.

I don't mind the Brown ones, not a fan of the orange or white ones.

They remind me of a high school jersey...I guess that is appropriate with the way we've played since the team has been back.

I highly doubt on the Nike side, I'd bet that there was a very specific distribution protocol and that it was followed. Had they not already been distributed, people would complain they were not available tonight/tomorrow.

I didn't say that, and that isn't within Nike's control unless these pics came from a Nike employee. Nike's responsibility was likely design, production and distribution per league and Browns' specifications.

It makes sense that there have been leaks. The stores need to get their merchandise in the store as quickly as possible. It doesn't make sense to stock the shelves right after the uniform is unveiled. Also, even if they did wait they have the jerseys sitting in the back waiting to be unveiled.

I really hope All Orange isn't something we do a lot..

Uniform change has been years in the making

Less than 30 people have seen the Cleveland Browns’ new uniforms.

Equipment manager Brad Melland is one of them.

After all, he should. Nobody in the organization will be handling the sleek jerseys and the colorful football pant combinations as much as Melland and his tireless equipment staff.

While the Dawg Pound and the players will be frenzied about the fresh look, Melland initially marveled at the overall design change Nike established for the Browns.

“The cut of the jersey itself is better fitting, especially around the upper torso and shoulder areas,” said Melland, who is now in his 10th season with the Browns. “The jersey has evolved from being regular to being a body-hugging jersey that still allows for movement. Nike has just done a phenomenal job.”

Melland’s first glimpse of the uniforms came last summer on the team practice field in Berea. When new jerseys are created, the NFL and Nike work together in what’s called a TV testing to ensure all of the colors look in sync with high-definition cameras. From the testing, a slight tweak was made in the coloring of one of the three jerseys, Melland said.

An influx of work appeared on Melland’s plate when the Browns updated their logo and color scheme back in February. T-shirts, shorts, gloves, socks – any piece of Browns apparel marked with the old logo has been boxed up and saved for a later date.

“It’s really been out with the old and in with the new,” said Melland, who has worked in football equipment with the Seattle Seahawks, the CFL, Arena Football and the World Football League.

In the recent weeks, Melland and his staff got their hands on the uniforms. They wanted to wash the jerseys to see how they would react. They wanted to play with the twill – the actual number and lettering part – to see how it would change their workflow when a new player arrived.

Per NFL rules, each NFL team must designate a home jersey color by July 1 and must wear that jersey for six of the eight regular season home games. Last season, Cleveland declared Brown as its home jersey choice, but white has been chosen in years past, too.

An alternate can only be worn two times throughout the season. But here’s the catch: An unlimited number of pant combinations can be used.

After two years of precise planning and laborious execution, the world will finally get to see the Cleveland Browns’ new uniforms.

“I like them a lot,” Melland said. “Kevin Griffin, Alec Scheiner and Mr. and Mrs. Haslam put a ton of work into this. It’s time to show them to the public.”

We've all seen the jerseys, none of us have seen the uniforms.

They mentioned on 92.3 that the Browns on the side of the pants might be real though. That was by far my favorite part of that link.

All in all, I liked the fact that our "throwbacks" were essentially the same thing but these aren't terrible, just not my preference.

I also think they look pretty good. I'm a design guy and visuals generally do matter to me. I think they did a nice job. I have a few minor complaints but nothing to speak of. It is slightly more youthful and saturated overall and closer to monochromatic in each iteration. I love the block Cleveland name across the chest. Overall a B+, A-.

I like them all. I know it's just uniforms, but something had to change.

Winning is the most important thing period, but to me the old uniforms became a reminder to many young fans of a horrible team. Us older guys understand the tradition, and IMO this in no way diminishes the past history. I look at it as a fresh start.
I believe the culture has started to change as far as player attitudes, and even though many don't think so, I believe this organization has a plan. They are building through the draft, and dding some nice pieces thru FA.

The play on the field, as far as attitude goes, reflects nicely on Pettine. I believe we have found our coach, now it is time to let the FO find their way. I truly believe that this team is on a up hill climb. It may be a slow one, but I think it is coming.

As for the uniforms, don't lie, I bet many of you were just like me, excited to finally see them. I know it is not much, but they are something to start a new image with. Now if they truly build a winner, we can look back at this day as part of the TRUE rebirth of the Browns.

Not really a fan of the all orange unis (reminds me of the Indians all red unis in the 70's). Hate the orange numbers on the brown and white jerseys. Love the pants. Could have been better...could have been worse. I'm not running out to buy any of them. Build a consistent winner and I'll think about spending my money.

I actually rarely wear my two personalized jerseys. I might ride around the city on my motorcycle with them. If I bought another, my wife would kill me. I actually want more Browns T-shirts, I only have one of those.

I won't be.... I could care less what the uniforms look like. If they go 3-13 this year they will look awfully stupid for making such a big deal out of a uniform change.

Why did they have SO many difrerent unis? NINE? You only need TWO. Home and away. Hell, with all the different options they'll be wearing a different style every week.

I really like em. I like that they still come off feeling classic though still updated. The subtle orange stitching in the brown is slick. Though I wish they added white around the orange CLEVELAND.

Well, I was able to see 2 of the jerseys and that's it.

The orange jerseys, I prefer, and note that the shoulder stripes on the orange jersey are identical to the helmut stripe. That'll be great! It'll seem like 33 helmuts out there. Did the player lead with his helmut or his shoulder, they'll not be able to tell.

I want to see the orange jerseys often.

I' think I'd prefer, Orange jerseys for home, White jerseys for road, and Brown pants for both.

Maybe someday the photos will be available online.

After having the night to let the new uni's sink in, I guess I feel more underwhelmed than anything. I don't love them, I don't hate them. I think that there were multiple fan designs that were better.

YESSSSSSS They made no changes to the designs they came up with. These jerseys are the same as I saw 6 months ago. Now I am still hoping that the orange pants and Brown jersey combo gets worn at least a half dozen times this year

It will be interesting to see which combo's they tend to wear, and when.

If you are looking at all of the videos with this comment, that would be because they apparently didn't do anything to help white balance any of the camera's. I haven't found a good video yet. For all of the talk about testing these on camera, you would think that they would give a chance for everyone to white balance their cameras. It's pretty easy to do, send someone up with a a white cue card before the event starts with the lights up and let them do their thing. If you wanted to get extra fancy, the flip side could have been the new orange color to just ensure that it looks right.

When I first saw the replicas, I cringed. I hated that it said "CLEVELAND" on the front and I didn't like how the jerseys looked on the shoulders.

Now, having seen the real thing with the entire uniform, I get it now.

I would rather it say "Browns" on the jersey and have a solid 3 stripe pattern down the pants, and I also think the brown jersey needed white numbers with orange shadows, but I see how it's cohesive and I'll take it.

My personal favorite part is the helmet with the textured stripes. It's going to pop on TV and in the stadium.

It kind of reminds me of how Nike does the Ohio State "night game" jerseys and I'm very ok with that.

The new color scheme reminds me of just how bad of an owner Randy Lerner was. The 2006 redesign (all on-field nonsense aside) set the team back decades.

The darker brown was good, but the more washed out orange, grey facemasks and black cleats looked horrible.

The new color scheme is definitely 2015 but it's still brown and orange in the end. The TV testing and stadium testing is going to go a long way toward making the entire uniform scheme look damn good on TV and in the stands.

All that being said, I doubt these jerseys are around for decades like the old jerseys. I can see another revision in 10 years maintaining the same general layout but with whatever evolves by then.

I really like the Cleveland across the front. Brown with orange letters are my favorites, will be ordering a Haden shortly in that version once I can find it in the Elite version.

I like the new uniforms. Some combinations are "meh". The big build up and "show" to introduce them was overkill, leaving me feeling like "will they help the team win? can they QB? will they send text during games?"

Maybe I'm the only one, but I kinda wished they would have spent the entire half hour just introducing each jersey separately. Give us like 3 minutes to see it, have them zoom in to see details/colors, and then have them move onto the next one.

These would have been AWESOME in 2002. In 2015, not so much, they already look outdated and cheap. Should have either went completely modern or kept the traditional like Green Bay and Chicago. I like the additional color combo's but the rest of the execution completely missed. Browns down the side looks like some Victoria Secret's sweatpants, number font and shadows look like they are straight out of a Madden create a team.

Oh well, if we ever win, that is all that matters.

I'm still trying to digest how I feel about the uniforms. My snap judgments like some combo more than others. I like the all brown unis much like I did with the old ones.

I really like CLEVELAND on the front...loud and proud. I like Dawg Pound on the neckline as well. A constant reminder of how great the fans are and who are right behind you on Sundays.

BROWNS on the leg seems a little minor league for me. I'm not a big fan but its not turrible.

Could have been better, could have been worse. The pants look good (no more solid brown ones). The orange numbers have to go. They look awful. Best looking jersey is the orange one (because of the white numbers) but it will be the alternate for 2 home games. New design, new color patterns, 9 different uniform combinations which is really cool because just like others by the 4th game I'm thinking to myself all white uniforms again? How boring, at least now they have different combinations.

For everyone out there that is complaining about them and the helmets, what should the browns have done different? I mean if you think about it what is our logo? Orange, Brown, and White on a helmet. That is our logo, it's not a dog, it's not an elf, our logo is basically 3 colors. If the Browns would have came out with a wild and radical uniform design with grey in it and bolts or stripes people would have complained we didn't keep the Browns tradition or it looks like a XFL team or the Bengals with the stripes, etc.

I think with what they had to work with they incorporated a lot of cool stuff in the new uniforms and made them more modern. We are the only jersey with the city's name on the front of it, Dawg Pound is on the inside collar, etc.

I don't think all of the promotion and hype was necessary but it's Haslam's money if he wants to spend it on promoting the Browns then that's fine with me, he should put on a live event every weekend and let fans come and hang out with the players!

Was at Papous Tap and Grill to get lunch. The waitress (who is NOT a browns fan) said that one of her friends sent her a email with the All Orange unis next to an Orange Traffic Barrel. I can't get that image out of my mind LOL

Man, that's for sure. I kept reading that brown was out as a main color, and that gray was in. I was braced for gray. Then I saw brown, standing tall and proud on that stage, and was really happy.

I guess I don't understand why that would be a bad thing? Is it the connection to traffic? What if I created a picture of a Chiefs jersey next to a Stop sign, a Jets jersey next to a field of grass, or a Colts jersey to a post office box?

Just because the color may match something we see elsewhere, is that a negative?

I must admit I was worried. However, I think they hit a delicate balance just fine. They changed it enough to appeal to younger fans, without going over the top to offend the older, more tradition based fans.

I believe they did a great job and I'm very pleasantly surprised.

JMO, but the orange-on-orange must NEVER be worn. I always liked the brown jerseys on white pants best, but I must say, I don't like the orange 3-D numbers on the brown jerseys. Other than that, I think the uni's are okay.

The only jerseys I'd like to see us wear:

white over white (1/2 of AWAY)
white over brown (1/2 of AWAY)
brown over orange (3/4 of HOME)
orange over brown (ALT HOME)

I like the jerseys for the most part. Disappointed with the helmet, could have done so much more with it. Metallic or fish scale would have been better. I think in the end, the browns just didn't want to alienate the "older" generations. Browns down the side of the pants is a nice twist, and I like the CLEVELAND across the front. The shoulder stripes at first struck me as awkward, but they are growing on me.

I love that orange top/brown pants combo. I thought for the most part all the combinations look good. I'd like to see the jerseys in person, and how they look on the field too.

This change was needed badly. Yes, obviously the more important issue is fixing our QB situation and run defense, but I just love how some of these fans are having this take that you either care about jerseys or you care about winning. Apparently you can't handle both. Just unreal. I think some Browns fans just want to watch the world burn.

Actually, I went to look at a few other NFL jerseys, most have a name or alternate logo right under the collar and above the numbers. So, it's not really "college", unless you're saying that because its the city/state name.

The NFL jerseys I saw have the team name, not the city, and none are as big as ours, but go look at the Patriots, Broncos, Redskins, Titans, Rams, 49ers, Chargers, Eagles, Giants ("NY" logo), Cards, Falcons, Vikings, Dolphins, Texans, Lions, Cowboys, Bengals ("B" logo), and Ravens. Those all have their team name or alternate logo in the same location.

It's funny, Wilbon RIPPED the new jerseys a few days ago. He said it's so bush league to have your team name or city on the uniform as if the player forgot who they were playing for. Yet, most have it there. He just can't stand the Browns.

I love having Cleveland on the front of the jerseys. I think it's a great touch, and I love that we are the first NFL team to do so. (and watch, as other teams redo their uniforms, others will follow suit)

We are already unique to have a helmet with no logo. May as well be unique to have the city on our chests Dawg Pound on their neck and Browns on their legs.

Hey, Punch- I could have predicted that Wilbon would hate them, just because they were something (anything) about CLE.... what did Kornheiser think?

Tony didn't like them because he thought we were one of the few NFL teams that should never change. Something along the line of, "what they had were classics and shouldn't ever change." But he wasn't mean about it.

Wilbon unleashed. He went off about us being useless, the worst franchise in sports, no reason to ever be talked about, and how our new uniforms are the worst things EVER. Of course, he doesn't follow those same rules when he constantly talks about the Cubs. They can add a video scoreboard, not have enough bathrooms for the opener, sign $155m starters that can't throw to 1st base, and be terrible for over 100 years....but talk about them with respect, admiration, and insist every thing they do is trying to improve the team and fan experience. Just annoying. Oddly enough, Tony called him out the day after the jersey unveiling about him crushing us without mercy.

And I like Wilbon in general. He has traditionally supported all things Cleveland. I guess the recent Haslam+Textgate+Manziel+Handling of Hoyer+jerseys just pushed him over the edge. He'd probably fit right in with a few on this board.

He seems to get unraveled about a few topics and can't see how crazy he sounds. I know we're all like that (me with Pete Rose, the Steelers and AP).

I have decided I am not a fan of the "Browns" down the pant peg. The stripes we used to have were much better. Also, the old jersey sleeves we had were better as well.

While there are things I like about the new uniforms, I think we made a downgrade.

PTI used to be one of my favorite shows. Wilbon is now literally a troll. There are certain subjects (analytics for example) that he is unwilling to entertain and will disparage every chance he gets. The show is unwatchable because of him.

Kornheiser is the best. He is what makes the show (and always has been). You can put literally anyone else out there with him and the show would be great.

I agree Wilbon always seems to have an axe to grind about something and is so obvious about his personal bias, ( and I don't mean just Cleveland), I have basically quit watching it.

The way I see it is if a player can retire a Brown (whether he left or not)and his retirement actually has some significance....His jersey is worth buying. Thomas and Haden are perfect examples. Or if say I had already had a Cribbs or Dawson Jersey. Cribbs because he actually still has records with this team and Dawson just because. Not saying to buy a Cribbs or Dawson Jersey but if I had one Id still sport it. Wouldnt be wearing a like a Trent Dilfer jersey or anything if you know what I mean, lol

Currently I only have my Joe Thomas jersey. Thinking about getting either a Haden or Whitner jersey, more leaning towards Haden.

I think I might go ahead and get one of the orange jerseys. The tough decision is who I might end jinxing and causing them to miss the season.
It has worked well with all of the bobbleheads I have. Every. Single. One... Traded or hurt for a significant period.
