So, are we still failing for Cardale? I think Jones took that quote the wrong way.. Either that or he is purposefully trying to ruin his draft stock so he can get picked by a better team If he keeps playing like that, every team will be able to sign him after the draft (although Logan Thomas got drafted). JT Barrett was always the best option. So Our draft next year is going to be 1st: Joey Bosa 2nd: Braxton Miller 3rd: JT Barrett Fun. And we can sign Troy Smith as next year's Josh McCown.

Is Clarrett out of jail yet? He should be in pretty good shape..

Well after one good play, Benji will obviously move onto another team and have a HOF career like every player that leaves Cleveland.. So we better keep Ted Gin Jr on speed dial...

Urban said we're a physical smash mouth and play action team. Sure as hell didn't call a game plan like it. I'm hoping that will be the message to the OC. Really disappointed so far in what I've seen. Hoping things improve dramatically very soon. We completely abandoned what helped us win a title last year. Granted, the defense this year might be BETTER than last years unit. Aldophus Washington has become an absolute force and Gareon Conley and Apple are a dynamic CB duo. You could argue special teams is better even though our current kicker scares the living hell out of me right now. However the offense is soft. We better run nothing but the pistol formation in 95% of our snaps next week and just pound the rock with Zeke. We have a lot of toys on offense, I get that, but it's causing us to get too cute and overthink. Last year we lined Bama and Oregon up and pounded them between the tackles.

Cardale needs time to work on his game and reading defenses.

Is Clarrett out of jail yet? He should be in pretty good shape.. He is actually in a pretty good place now, and appears to have turned his life around. He speaks about the mistakes he made, the thought process that led him into trouble, and how he failed to grow up ... and what it cost him. I am glad that finally seems to have found a role in life that fits him. I cannot believe that 6 has gone down, and that it seems like a lot of top teams were in trouble today. As per tOSU, I have no idea why we ran the ball only 26 times today. (IIRC, and with the RBs) Someone mentioned maybe working on plays in a game .... but doing that in a game that is not yet put away is just stupid. we had what (?) 5 or 6 turnovers today? Super sloppy. Thank goodness the defense came to play today.

Cardale needs time to work on his game and reading defenses. And getting the ball out more quickly. It seems like he has a really long release sometimes.

His 500% win-loss ratio could give us a top 3 season, since the return, here. I concur with the message.

j/c:
I saw a lot of the same things that many of you saw, but here goes:
--The new OC is driving me crazy. We are too gimmicky. We don't have an identity. We never establish anything. I knew Herman was good and his loss would hurt, but I never dreamed it would be this bad.
--How many of our offensive assistants went w/Herman to Houston? Couldn't we have promoted one of those guys rather than bring in a guy from freaking Nebraska?
--Lee is so fast on defense. Amazing.
--The LG, number 54, is really struggling.
--Cardale has terrible footwork. This results in inaccurate throws. He won't be good in the NFL if he doesn't clean that up now.
--JT was late and inaccurate.
--Like you guys said, give Zeke the ball going downhill.
--Number 84 is a sissy. Did you see that lame attempt on the ball that was almost picked in the end zone? He did the same crap last year.
--I agree w/YTown in that you don't work on plays in a game you could lose.
--NIU arguably should have won this game. Their coach was too conservative. And his misuse of timeouts was devastating for his team.
--Washington [#92] has been our best d-lineman. That guy is quick off the ball.
--Our inside linebackers looked pretty good. Actually, our defense played a very good game.
--Clock management was poor. Snapping it w/20 seconds left was mind boggling. Then, we punted w/12 seconds remaining on the clock.
--And why are we in hurry-up and running stretch plays w/Samuel?
--Disappointing victory.

I wish we could have disappointing victories with the Browns. Sigh.

Stanford beat USC and Ole Miss beat Bama last night, so I feel a little better. I know Vers just said this a couple posts up, but this team has become too soft and too gimmicky. If we had a swear jar at the house, I would have had to take out a payday loan. I think an expletive preceded and followed darn near every play.... Most of the time I was saying give the @#$%**!@ ball to Zeke!!

I get mad enough watching the Browns every Sunday, I can't handle my Saturdays being as miserable. Two weeks in a row, two "disappointing" victories. But, I'll agree with you and Swish. I'd gladly welcome a disappointing Browns victory. I can't hang my hat on my fantasy team every week. lol...

Most of the time I was saying give the @#$%**!@ ball to Zeke!! Me too. Watching Elliott yesterday, I started wondering if he didn't have a bit of Trent Richardson's Disease, that is, running to where the hole is supposed to be instead of where there was actual daylight. Specifically, they had a 3rd and 2 near the end of the game, and Elliott ran right into an OL's backside while significant daylight was visible 2-3 yards to his left. Can a RB's vision, or lack of, improve with time, or is it an inherited trait?

Wow our offense is just ugly. Both QBs are playing pretty poorly. It seems like we shy away from the best back in the college game often. Just pound it with Elliot if our QBs can't get the ball out accurately.
And this switching of QBs... if you feel JT is your guy, then start him and be done with it. Cardale has looked very poor.
We won and all, but yikes... that offense is a huge collaboration of CRAP!

I think vision is a God-given gift, as our instincts. They are related to one another.
With that said, I don't think Zeke has poor vision. It's much easier to see the holes from the overhead camera than it is when you are at ground level and a bunch of big, angry men are trying to rip your head off. LOL

However, I think we all trust Urban to fix this mess. At least we're undefeated and have a soft schedule to practice and fix our mistakes.

I still think OSU will be there at the end but the fact that they retained the #1 ranking is absolutely unbelievable. Auburn had a very close call against a far inferior opponent and dropped 12 spots.... OSU doesn't even drop a spot and only loses a handful of first place votes...

Quite sure Toledo could beat OSU in their current incarnation. NIU almost did the job.

we just need to figure out our ONE qb who we will stick with ... and then tailor the offense and commit to it.
flip flopping has never worked ... players don't build cohesion and the qbs are always looking over their shoulder
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Makes me wonder if media wants to purposely have #1 vs #2 in a couple of months This is why I dislike preseason polls. If the first poll came out this week, no way would OSU be #1. Michigan State and Mississippi both have a better quality win (based on what we know right now) and neither has had a scare against a weaker team... If I was in charge of the rankings, the top 5 right now would be.. 1. Ole Miss 2. Michigan State 3. TCU 4. Ohio State 5. either LSU or Georgia

NIU scored 10 points off of 5 turnovers and awful field position. NIU is a high scoring team that was completely shut down for the most part. The defense is national championship caliber right now. They jsut need the offense to not screw them over.

OSU barely beats the best team in the MAC (A very underrated conference) by 7 and still held them under 200 yards is not the same as coming back in the 4th quarter to an FCS school that put up over 400 yards on Auburn. Literally nothing close to the same thing, but OK.

I worked from 3-9 Saturday. I never take a break when working. My philosophy is: taking a break only makes you get done later. (self employed, not an hourly job)
But, Saturday, I couldn't help it. I took a few breaks. And after listening to the radio, hearing the score, dang, I shortened my breaks to "turn the radio on....dang, turn it off" and go back to work.
45 minutes later, take a "break".....and dang, go back to work.
Made good money, though I could've been done 30 minutes sooner had I just not cared to listen to the game.

Yes, surprising that someone could differentiate a non-AQ conference winner with an FCS school. Shocking. I hate to spoil tomorrow's lesson, but we're going to go over the differences between the Redskins and University of Cincinnati's football teams. While they look familiar because they both play football, there is a major talent drop off between them.

If Alabama or Oregon was ranked ahead of OSU and squeaked out a touchdown win over a MAC school or a Mountain West school and didn't fall in the rankings OSU fans would be having cows all over the place and screaming homerism and SEC bias and PAC 12 bias and woe is us, everybody hates us...... and if you have a single objective bone in your body, you already know that because you've seen it happen every year....

Yeah, I guess if we're using homer logic then yes, we do come at some pretty unreasonable terms where we can't differentiate an FCS school and a conference winner in the FBS. OSU didn't drop in the rankings because of how the rankings are set up. OSU is still the clear #1. However, we did just lose 30 points because of how poorly we played. If Bama would have won they could have jumped us. However, with the no #2 team losing the gap to jump was much larger and harder to fill. That's why we didn't drop in the rankings, but we did drop in the points.

Which brings me back to why I hate preseason polls.. the point differential, the points you had to lose, were arbitrary and based on nothing more than speculation about how good a bunch of people expected you to be based on what you had coming back from last year plus the players that would be elevated to starters.....

Yeah, but by not judging teams based on how good they did last season, some might come up with crazy ideas like ND and Ole Miss being the best teams in the country lmao

I kinda see what you are saying, but you gotta start somewhere.
And, in reality, does it really even matter anymore? The AP is not choosing the final 4 teams. The committee is. I think they did a pretty darn good job last year.
Don't you?
