I am sure they did, LAST YEAR......

when regs and such of Blummer boy where stopping coal plants from firing up.

We will see how that is going forward. Trump has had 10 months to bring them back, Obama had 8 years shutting them down. Give it time, your air will be black chalk in no time smile

Dude you're in denial.

The National Solar Jobs Census 2016, the seventh annual report on solar employment issued by the foundation, says installed solar capacity is projected to grow a record 14 gigawatts in 2016, almost double the 7.5 GW growth experienced in 2015. With such a gain, solar will likely exceed all other sources of new electric generating capacity for the year, according to the report.

First, we are talking about the coal plants you say are not being opened, you keep bringing up Solar, what does solar have to do with the fact coal plants are opening back up?

second, "projected" "Likely exceed" "projected to grow" etc etc.

kinda like "Hillary is projected to win the election" . . .

Wind turbines kill between 214,000 and 368,000 birds annually thumbsdown

Thomas Dietsch, a migratory bird biologist at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, said in a presentation earlier this year that 3,545 bird deaths had been reported at seven Southern California solar farms, including Ivanpah, from 2012 through April 2016. Those deaths spanned at least 183 species, including three species listed as endangered or threatened under the federal Endangered Species Act: Ridgway's rail, willow flycatcher and yellow-billed cuckoo. thumbsdown

That's a higher rate of kill death ratio than GLOBAL WARMING!! I know this because - Al Gore told me so.

So? Trump isn't calling for cutting the regulations on wind turbine farms is he?

Actually we're talking about a climate plan. Conservatives like you don't make plans. They just whine, cry, condemn, complain criticize. But nope, no plan, none, nada, zip.

And coal kills 8 million birds a year. However, cats kill 1.4-3.7 billion birds a year, yet Republicans are ominously silent on that.

Hummingbirds hum until they hit by a turbine blade or fried by Libby solar death rays.

It would've saved us from "man made global warming", or whatever it's called now, wouldn't it?

All these people harping about pollution this, can't have wind turbines, can't do nuclear, can't do fracking, etc...........yet, the hot tubs are going, the a/c is going, the heat is going, driving to work for the "urban" population is big, leaving lights on at night, using gas powered mowers, watching tv 24/7, etc.

This country, and this world, demands power, yet those that gripe the most about others should be cutting back, use just as much, and belittle power plants. "Oh, we should all go solar", yeah, try that at the factories that employ people that pay taxes. Hell, try it at your house alone.

It's cleaner than it was, got that?

And no. Shut every coal fired plant down today. You'll wake up with your freezer melting food. Your lighting will be spotty, if existent. Heat or a/c? Forget about it.

Coal is being used less and less. Other power sources are taking over. It's a product of the free market system. Nothing you will post on a message board is going to change that.

Nah, not really.

I'm simply saying you couldn't live as you do without coal.

Face it.

Is it diminishing? yes. But if serious progress doesn't result in enough power, you, me, and the rest of the country will be hurting.

I would never tell you how to use your money. And thank you for not telling me how to use my money.

You go ahead and say "coal is dying"..........yet you still use it, right?

I think you're being very facetious and I believe you know it. The point all along has been that coal is slowly dying. That jobs are not coming back to coal. That natural gas is replacing it due to being cleaner and more efficient.

Now if you wish to try to move the goal posts on the discussion, you go right ahead. Sorry if I'm not going to chase you down that garden path.

But that happens a lot. When you don't have a logical debate to the points being made, move the goal posts.

Agreed.

Fracking is awesome for natural gas. Guess what? Even though, just around here a new pipeline went in for the natural gas from eastern ohio/western pa........people bitch about the pipeline, AND the fracking.

I did a quick google search seeing as you’re too lazy to:

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundla...-home-1.2493049

And there are tons and tons of other articles just like that.

Seems to me that people are finding ways to power their homes just fine with minimum to no use of coal.

Pit is right though. You guys crying about this isn’t gonna change the fact that coal is a dying industry that can’t be saved. You can delay the inevitable all you want but it’s gonn for.

The country better stop kicking the can down the curve and get ahead. Trump isn’t doing anybody any favors by wasting time on this issue.

Also you keep bringing up peoples lifestyles and blah blah blah.

If you buy a new car, it doesn’t matter if it’s a truck or sedan, due to regulations these cars today are more efficient and leave less of a footprint than cars 10-20 years ago. So you’re actually HELPING the planet by getting a new car, and you actually HELPING reduce the dependencing on fossil fuels.

So thanks for contributing to an issue you seem so opposed to. You’re s hippy and don’t even realize it.

Coal is dying but it’s being replaced by other Industries. So acting like we’re all gonna suffer if there’s no coal is ridiculous.

I agree 100 percent with less footprint part. However the efficient part is bull. GM's 3.8 L engine was more powerful and fuel efficient than the 4 bangers they have replaced them with. I could get more MPG with a Park Ave than I can with a Cruze.
