This just sounds like a topic to throw out there. See what the discussion brings.
If Luck is medically cleared as 100 percent; why trade him?
So you have draft picks. That doesn't convert to NFL playmakers as we should start well know.
So then they have to ID a quarterback and develop him as well as build a team.
This doesn't feel real.

I completely agree. The only other thing to consider is that Irsay is a freaking nut! Dude has serious problems.

So luck would be a game changer ? But not Wentz, Watson , Goff or someone else with their ability and ceiling ? Luck has shown to be a good QB but now is estroyed because the Colts refused to put together a team around him in a good amount of time " They still have not " So he is now alwasy hurt because he put team on shoulders. Browns need to draft best Available QB and keep doing it until they hit. Stick with the same QB for the whole year through ups and downs. Have plenty of draft picks to fill the wholes with decent players and the cap space to cover the rest

I'm not sure where I read this or maybe it was on TV.. Can't remember, but Lucks career is in danger of being over.
I'd sure as hell would want to know more..

Good to see this said here. You don't "come back" equally from all injuries, and shoulders and throwing motions can be iffy. This would be a hazardous trade IMO. Luck damaged is better than Kizer as far as playability. Just really more risky.
Decisions in football really boil down to considering every outcome possible, both good and bad, and deciding. I just see a lot of potential waste and failure. Others like to draw to inside straights regularly. They go with their gut.
Not sure if we have a playable winner in Luck; Irsay might slobber over the trade after TR. But as I said earlier, I want that chat and those details if they become available.

There's just one thing if we were to get Andrew Luck: the neckbeard has to go. I'm sorry, it just does.

If we get a QB who can win, I don't care if he has an eye brow beard.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

It sounds to me like the Colts are worried that he might never play again.
Just make sure that he's healthy before we trade the farm.

I'm not sure we could get his physical done before the trade deadline.

Sashi would have teleported to the league office if he could get Luck.

I have looked around on this topic.
There is some ill will between the parties.
Irsay has made some stupid remarks like the injury "is in his head". That would not sit well with any injured player. Irsay is an irrational nut case. And if I were Luck I would want out.
One thing I did read coming from the GM is that the injury is not career threatening and they expect a full recovery.
What would Luck bring in trade? My guess would be two first rounders and a second. Which the Browns could do if Sashi has the will.
I have my doubts that Sashi would do that. But there again I have many questions regarding what Sashi would do.
One thing I will say regarding Luck. He is a franchise quarterback and if he has a competitive team around him is capable of winning a championship.

If Brissett continues to show he can play and the Colts are serious about cutting ties with Luck, one place I think you could see him go is Arizona. The Arians connection is obvious.

Ding, ding, ding, ding - could not agree more - if Arians is still around.
I think, unless the Browns throw a staggering amount of money at the prospective FA or waived/cut QBs (Smith, Luck, Cousins, etc.), they will be signing with teams which are less dysfunctional.

There are major concerns about the health of Arians.
I doubt that he will continue to coach.

I didn't even think about that... but yes, makes total sense. Like others have said, what about Arians himself coming back?

He is a franchise quarterback and if he has a competitive team around him is capable of winning a championship. You can say the same thing about every starting QB in the NFL. Case in point, Trent Dilfer.

Its absurd to think the Colts are going to let Luck go because Jacoby Brissett is playing well ... Brissett couldn’t carry a healthy Luck’s jock .. That makes no sense what so ever ...

*LOL* ....
BO looks better than any qb on our roster ... thats not a very high bar ...
And in Ck’s half a game ... he made 3 or 4 passes he would have never made last year .. the 25 yard touch pass to i think it was Njoku on the sideline .. may have been de valve ... the seem pass 25 yards or so downfield to NJOKU ... there were 1 or 2 others ...
I’d like to see more of him to see if that was a fluke or the light starting to click for him ... its really a shame Joe got hurt that game .. i will go to my grave believing we win if Joe stays out there ..

Sorry to hear about Arians ill health, I think it was the heart???
Luck might need a year to mend. the cost would not be high. I remember Drew Brees careeer was suppose to be ending also. How did that work out for the Saints. I would take the chance on Luck...kid grew up a Brown's fan I think...always love that scenario cause it is more apt for them to sign that next contract with us.
I think we deserve each other...Luck deserves a team that would take care of him physically and get him back on track. We deserve a special QB to take us to the promise land. I would be all over that.
But I do really really want Mayfield...Bonefish you would like him also

Brissett looks good IMO (at least better than I expected) ... he's serviceable and would be our best QB by a mile
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Funny that you mentioned that because I was just thinking of starting my annual investigation into the quarterback college prospects.
I have only seen some highlights on Mayfield.
The only guy I have seen a few times has been Darnold.
But I intend to dig deep on the whole crop.
At this point it is the most enjoyable thing I can do as far as football is concerned.

I've seen at least 5 of his games.
Don't do the highlights if you can get the entire game that would be better.
Don't be enamored by his Gaudy Stats...those are college stats. Don't be enamored by the fact he wins the Heisman Trophy hopefully that won't be a curse...lol
I'm pretty sure it was last week.
It was a 3rd down and his OL is not superb not bad but not Leinart at USC keep his clean.
They pinned their ears back and sent the kitchen sink.
He stood in the pocket but had to throw off his back foot. He threw a rope to the left sidelines on an out that was around 20 yards...the throw covered a good 40 yards and the WR was well covered...he threw it right on the money...dime money again off the back foot and under duress.
I was like WOW...and the only other QB I know that can do that is Aaron Rodgers. Its stuff like that week after week that just wows me and has driven me to pimp him as THE ONE for us!

Normally I rely on Draft Breakdown where I can see only the snaps. Today I noticed that they now want to charge a membership fee.
I never trust highlights only. I like game film but only the plays on the guy I want to see.
Draft Breakdown allows that. I may join because you can see every game.
I caution those who are dishing Darnold this year. Not the same team as last year. He is trying to make things happen and does not have a great supporting cast.
I did watch a couple of his games. He still makes WOW throws. There is a lot to like about Darnold. I believe he will be a great Pro.

I watched part of the OK State vs OK. Rudolph and Mayfield were airing it out.
Looking forward to really studying the QB crop.
At this time I am not yet comfortable in any full assessments.

What College a QB plays for means little , Stats can also mean little. You have to look for certain tangibles. Does the QB have the It Factor , does he play in a Pro Offense already . Does he read defenses and change plays at the line himself . The Browns Fired all the scouts that told the FO to Get Wentz . Would Wentz or Watson be doing as good as they are right now now .... But the Browns would be looking better with them .
Nothing is going to change until the Browns get a real GM and people that can recognize NFL talent . You can have all the draft picks in the world ... But not mean crap if you just keep filling the roster with positional players .
Look at the Eagles right now ... 2 years after Chip Kelly Destroyed the team of all its talent and Home grown superstars. Not only Drafting well but killing it in the FA as well. Doug Peterson only a 2nd year HC ... But what helps is the Coaches that are put around him .
Need to get rid of these Harvard Money ball bastards ... Start Drafting BPA and actually use the Cap space with Solid Vets that can help these young guys develop . Might even want to think of getting rid of Hue ... He is not a bad coach , great OC just not a great HC ... maybe get him a OC to help some

Sure thing.
Probably start pretty soon. There seems to be a good mix of different types.
I try to find a bunch of personal stuff from the college website. Things that give you a picture of the guys character. Where he came from. How does he relate to his teammates and coaches.
I remember Mariota. Who I really liked on film. When I looked around the college website it was clear that he was a true leader. Coaches and teammates loved the guy. All kinds of cool stories about him as a person. Always felt he had great potential. He has the full package to do great things.
Then crunch game film.
The hard part is seeing through the spread and hybrid offenses run in college. It is like no defense is playing. They put up pinball numbers. Guys wide open. Massive separation. Hard to figure how they will handle playing under center. Dropping back seeing the field. Hitting small windows by anticipating open.
In the OK State vs OK game they were always open. In can be deceptive. You then have to look for pressure situations and how they are handled.
I guess we will have to start a thread in the Tailgate Forum.

I would call the Colts and ask if our medical team could evaluate Luck. If he checks out, I'd offer both 2018 1st round picks, a 2018 2nd Round pick AND our 2019 1st round pick. I think Irsay might be a big enough slapdick to accept that.

Just a note regarding Andrew Luck.
He is the Gold Standard.
He was the best pro quarterback prospect I have ever seen coming out of college.
Sad to see him with the Colts.
