I've watched that second Liston-Clay fight quite a few times, and I just can't believe that punch put Liston down. If you watch it, you'll see Clay (Ali) land a couple pretty big right hands earlier in the round that don't even faze Liston - he just keeps plodding forward. But then he gets knocked out by an pawing afterthought; a half-assed short right that was more of a slap than a punch? Had to be a fix, which is not to say I think Liston could have won the fight if he tried. In truth, he couldn't even connect with Ali who was up on his bicycle the whole time. But with a devastating puncher like Liston, there was always a chance - if he was trying to win.

Oh man. That's goin back. Tough to remember fights from the 30's when your born in 57.

One thing a lotta people don't realize about Ali is that he could take a punch and then some. HE COULD REALLY TAKE A PUNCH.

Once after losing to Ali Frazier said he hit Ali with left hooks that would literally knock down brick walls and.......?????.......nothin. Not taking anything away from Frazier but his win after Ali's 3 year stint in the hoosegow......ehhh. And, Frazier was imo a great fighter.

Tyson? Ali was way to quick w/both hands and feet. Way to quick. Imo Ali beats him 19 times outta 20.

Either Ali or Louis GOAT. I go back and forth. Ali's my atf but then again that's who I grew up as a kid with so..... Can still remember as a little kid, at night, listenin to big fights on the am transistor radio.

I don't think Ali ever went to jail (or the hoosegow either) for refusing induction in the draft. But he was stripped of his title and banned for what would have been his prime years. If Frazier had ever fought the younger, leaner, faster version of Ali I don't know if he would have laid a glove on him.

Best I can do with the Heavy's is come up with my top 4. I think a case could be made for any of these guys beating anyone:

Louis
Marciano
Ali
Tyson

Sorry, your right. For some reason I juxtapated Tysons 3 years time served and Ali's 3 year ban/suspension. Although Ali was arrested hence 10 minutes in jail?

There was 4 years in between Ali's last fight in 67 and when he and Frazier fought in 71. Ali had 2 tune-ups in late 1970 with Quarry and Bonavena.

And yea, Ali in his prime wins hands down vs Frasier. Then again he's in my top 2.

I watched almost every one of his fights and I watched the Kim fight live as it was happening. That was a terrific bout right up until he died. Loved Mancini. He was from Youngstown. Ohio boy.

If I recall correctly, Kim dies the next day at the hospital. He never woke up after the knockout.

I'll mention him again:

Heavyweight - Ike Ibeabuchi.

His dismantling of then frustrating defensive machine Chris Byrd was a thing of beauty.

Then Ike got suicidal and had to go to jail for awhile.

Maybe one thing had to do with the other.
