But I'm not 100% certain. Here's one bad sign. Obama was worried about China's huge investment in African infrastructure. (Africa is home to countless rare and extremely valuable natural resources) Uh oh... If Obama was worried... Be afraid. Be very afraid. This is, on the surface, completely incoherent gibberish, but I was curious, so I Googled it. He's apparently referring to the Chinese government being worried in 2015 that Obama was being favorable to Africa because he was black, and would thus supplant them as the continent's leading colonizers.

It's about the resource war. China jockeying to exploit more resources from the 3rd world than the US can. The only good thing about our debt to china is that they are so deep they can't afford to be very openly hostile towards us, that's why it appears we are getting along better as nations. Given different circumstances they would gut us economically.

Nothing has happened yet?  We went from the edge of WW3 and Nuclear attacks to head to head meetings with Kim and talk of ending the Korean War! I agree. Only simpletons don't see this as a big step. No doubt things can fall apart, but at least we are seeing hope of things coming together. That whole relationship in Korea has been a ticking time bomb for 60 years. At least we can see hope the bomb can be defused.

The danger is the people who think he's going to change. I don't think he won't yield anything, but he's certainly going to be asking for a lot, yes. Did anyone see Trump crowing on Twitter this morning on how the North Koreans "denuclearized", and the United States had to do nothing in return? It took a good 15 minutes before an aide explained to him what's actually going on and then he had to correct himself with an "OK, so nothing's happened yet, but..." tweet. My guess is one of two things (probably a mix of the two): 1) North Korea knows that Trump, a well-noted terrible negotiator, will yield more than anyone else is likely to, and needs to strike while the iron is hot 2) they fried their test sites, and are trying to use the husks as chips to get what they can now

He literally found out 3 hours ago that North Korea isn't going to do anything without concessions. He actually thought they were just going to fold up shop.

North Korea is not like a typical country. It is run by ONE MAN.
Just in the past year or two:
1) Had his half brother publicly assassinated in an incredibly brutal way.
2) Had an American student slowly tortured to death (for 17 months!),
3) Has savagely killed any internal opponent, by insane methods like eaten by dogs
We should have blown him away after #2 above.
Fortunately, unlike many historically-handicapped people (well represented in this thread), I doubt Trump will make any concessions.
It's very sad for the North Korean people.
But, no deals with North Korea.

Hope I am wrong. I would absolutely be happy if we worked something out similar to the Iran deal with North Korea. I don't know too many who wouldn't. The issue is that it would potentially be negotiated by an unstable imbecile who is best known for getting easily swindled, and who just this morning found out that the North Koreans were actually going to want concessions for ramping down their nuclear program. That doesn't exactly inspire munch confidence.

Partisanship aside, I hope Trump and company pull off a good deal and bring lasting peace to the Koreans. I have serious doubts, but I'm not going to kick Trump for trying. I've been astonished by what has happened so far, but like Eve, I think other players are putting pressure on NK.
