We should have kept Zane. I'm sure we'll be bringing in a kicker to compete, but I'm fine with Joseph.

If he was hurt, then we should have put him on the IR and we could have had a kicking competition this summer.

As I said earlier, I was kinda hoping we would sign Bryce Callahan, but he was signed by the Broncos.
I still think we need secondary help.

Wanted him too. Good slot corner, but with Fangio in Denver, did not think he end up anywhere but there.

Here's your kicker: https://sportsday.dallasnews.com/college...-scoring-recordHope Mayfield has Dorseys ear on this one...guy looked confident and smooth everytime I saw him kick. Would like to see us grab him late round....he's the next Janikowski IMHO

Joseph had a good strong leg.
My plan not that it counts anywhere last I looked is we go 2 point conversion all the time. With our weapons that should be better than 50% success. As for FG...We will score TDs at an alarming rate, actually we were doing that in our last eight games last year. Hardly any need for a FG. But if we needed on over 50 yards, after he got more relaxed, Joseph does have the leg.
If not my plan then, yeah bring in competition and if you ask me with the high scoring in college now there are a lot of good kickers as well. Seibert being one of them.

I get all the excitement over our offensive firepower but I think some Dawgs are under valuing a good kicker. A good kicker is insurance. They can get you that winning kick. I don't know what the stats are but I'd be interested to see how many times in a 16 game season a kicker is in position to kick the game winning FG? Even if it's only twice, you want that guy to be 100% in those two kicks because we saw just how much of a difference to W's would have made for us last year. A good kicker is also going to increase the odds that each drive is a scoring drive, very important when you find yourself in a slug fest.
For what this team is poised to do this coming season, I think we need to see if there's better insurance available.

Are Higgans and Willies back, if they don't get last years players back, they are going to "not be improved" again.

This is my *uninformed take on the status of these players. Higgins has to sign his tender. There hasn't been any news that he has done so. Then he can still entertain offers from other teams. If he gets an offer that the Browns are willing to match then he comes back. Otherwise, we lose him and we get a 5th in this year's draft.
We still have Willies under contract he has some kind of injury designation. Once he's cleared by team doctors he can return to the 90 man roster.
* Everything I'm saying here is SWAG.

There is no injury designation right now. There is a 90 man roster, and all players count, including injured players, and players tendered, but not yet signed, like Higgins.

He is one of the best there is. If Dorsey gets him it would be amazing 25-35 on FGs over 50. Career long FG is 62. And I think back to the final game 2-point loss to Baltimore, when the Browns got to the Ravens 39 yard line and it was clear that Williams had no intention of letting Joseph try a 56 yarder to win the game. We went for it on 4th and 10 and the pass was intercepted.

Out of the remaining guys, I would like the one guy I wanted from the start .... DT Philon from San Diego. His price should be coming down now. and IIRC, he's only 26.
I like Kindred, and I think there are a number of really good SS that should be available from rounds 2-3. However, if they want to add competition, Boston or the kid from Indy would work as well. I just think the NFL front offices want some of these free agents to get a little nervous about their futures, and for their prices to come down.

How about this, trade our middle 5th to the Jets for lb Darron Lee, and trade our bottom 5th to the Raiders for ss Karl Joseph. Both have been on the block and would at worst be quality depth.
After this I would look to sign anyone of the following for a reasonable price... S Eric Berry Chiefs S George Iloka Vikings K Stephen Gostkowski Patriots CB Rashaan Melvin Raiders WR Kelvin Benjamin Chiefs DT Darius Philon Chargers DT Rodney Gunter Cardinals LB Kyle Emanuel Chargers LB Gerald Hodges Cardinals OL Jordan Mills Bills QB Geno Smith Giants RB T.J. Yeldon Jaguars

I just keep remembering the 4th down (last play of the year) where we opted to go for it instead of kicking a 57yd FG to win the game against the Rats. I seem to remember the guy saying it was beyond Joseph's range. I thought right there that we need to find competition at camp. I know 57 yds it's a long FG but that should be one that we should be able to at least attempt. That was a game winner and would have gave us a winning record and we don't hesitate to just go for it. I hope we bring in someone maybe even draft another.
You dont have to win every game just the next one!

still holding out hope for eric berry or tre boston at this point, they will likely still be there after the Draft. Guys with talent don't get passed up by teams like this for no reason. I have zero doubts that any team looking for help has at the very least talked with their agents to get an idea of where the player is in terms of health and what they are looking for in terms of a contract.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

Isn't this a draft with depth at S? Maybe not a lot of All Pro talent, but players who would be useful at Safety?

My hope is Eric Berry.
However, he left the Cowboys with no deal. I wonder why?
Was it his decision or the Cowboys?
As each day passes I still question his heel injury.
Is he cleared to play? Can he play at the level he once did?

Can you imagine if the Browns signed Ziggy Anseh today!
I remember a couple 4 years ago Julius Peppers was a FA, and I couldn't get over the Browns weren't even jumping all over at least "asking" someone like that to make a deal and become a Brown.
Happened to get a glimpse of NFL network and they listed top remaining free agents, when I saw Anseh was a FA I flipped!
It'd be like having 2 Myles Garrett types, talk about versatility to what you could do with the defense.
It ain't gonna happen. Unless it does. Could you imagine?
edit: WWTGGTTGTDWGGGGGTGTG!
We gotta get this guy, gotta gotta gotta, dang it, gotta what we gotta do is gotta get this guy! Go do it!

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Probably not the injury unless its so obvious, a limp for example. But regardless who, Cowboys, us or anyone else. The contract will be contingent of him passing the MEDICAL EXAMINATION...I think that is pretty much with every move a team makes, trades, FA signings etc.

Berry if right is an exceptional talent.
He has everything you look for. Smart, instinctive, can cover, can close, good tackler, has speed, great teammate.
Dorsey knows him very well. It is all about the physical. If we sign him for two years and he plays. He would add at lot to the defense.
He grew up in Atlanta when I lived there. He was a local legend. I wanted him bad in the draft. High character guy.

An article by Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson indicated that Berry and his representatives were trying to avoid a “prove-it” deal and make the case that Berry’s situation is not that different than that of Earl Thomas, who signed a mega-contract with the Ravens.

Eric Berry should be trying to find a dumb team then (maybe that's why he visited the Cowboys). Earl Thomas has only missed a significant amount of games in 2018 and it was a freak injury. Eric Berry has been injury plagued his whole career. Apples and oranges. I still like the Tre Boston option. Last year he signed a one year, $1.5 million contract with the Cardinals when the safety market fell through. Even if we doubled that amount it would be a discount for us. The only thing I will say is that Boston played for Steve Wilks (and Al Holcomb) last year in Arizona. They have a very good idea of who he is and what he can do. If we don't sign him I assume it's because they don't want him.

I still think we'll see signings as the roster turnover is still in full swing. I just don't think they'll be big money signings. Just moving some parts around.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
