Sorry Deisle, but the so-called Browns fans in the Gameday thread are not the "best damn fans in the NFL". They're pathetic sky-is-falling, hot-take whiners.

It's a New Years Miracle to see Mike Tirico on SNF announcing, for the 2nd time in this year and the past two decades, Al Micheals can observe a well earned day off and hope all is well. (work life balance)
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

.....and just like that, Antonio Brown is an Ex-Buc. Antonio Brown needed: 8 more catches to unlock a $333,333 bonus. He also needed 55 receiving yards to unlock another $333,333 bonus. He also needed just 1 receiving TD to unlock another $333,333 bonus.

For those saying the next game means nothing, it does to some people. Pittsburgh is still in the hunt. The browns can end that tomorrow, plus send Ben to retirement being beat by the Browns at home with playoff chances still possible for them. Plus, winning the next two would mean back to back winning seasons. That is something we haven't seen in decades.

Hunt is signed through 2022.

but that last post was a temper tantrum. Maybe so. I'm literally beaten down by my fandom of this team. I'm at the point where I don't think it will ever get better. Not sure how much more I can take. 50 years a fan and I feel you. I've told myself to find a new team a thousand times, so I can root for my team in a Super Bowl before I die. But I watched my dad walk away from them, and he basically lost interest over time. But I don't want that either.

Clowney, hunt and talk are all free agents correct? Doubt we can keep all 3. If I am not mistaken we signed Hunt to a two-year deal? Might have even been three... almost certain it wasn't just one. Clowney was one. He may not want to come back here. If he has other offers he will likely bolt. The Bengals sure are for real this year. To the guy that said he was beaten down and questioned if it will ever get better... We beat the Stealers twice last season AND made the playoffs for the first time in forever... AND beat the Stealers IN the playoffs sending them home and probably ending tiny ben's last playoff chances... It HAS gotten better. We have a good coach and players. We have had a TON of injuries and our QB has a bad shoulder. The sky is not falling. Sometimes a team has some bad luck with injuries. Look at how beat-up our line has been.

From the first time we played Burrow and I heard him interviewed I was impressed.
The Bengals were picked to place last in the North this season. They were criticized for drafting Chase over Sewell.
Now they are loaded on offense with Burrow, Chase, Mason, Higgins, and Uzomah.
The Chiefs put up 28 points in the first half yesterday and 3 in the second.
Their defense stepped up and gave them the chance to come back. Burrow has been crazy good.
The Bengals are now the rulers of the North.
They are hungry, young and skilled at many positions.
The North is now on notice. Either get better or stay in line behind the Bengals.

I’m really impressed with Cincy as well. They are a HIGH FLYING offense. Great WRs, RB, and QB play. It’s a QB/scoring league … and they can do it with the best of them now
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Talk about getting rid of Baker...talk of Loser mentality smh
Instead of talking on how to build this team better. Like we are one of the few teams that were vying for playoffs without a GO TO Receiver. You know a guy you can just throw the ball up for grabs and they will win out most of the time...we got no guy. We got a great running game that is it...much to improve on. Defense we need much help on the DL - funny how a position goes from a team strength to weakness. Losing Sheldon Richardson sucked.
This team still needs to build on their safeties as well. I like our CBs. I like JOK..Garrett didn't play healthy down the road. Lot of things on this team besides Baker that needs fixed and I'm sorry but the kid played injured most the season and he was brutalized...media just loved coming down on him why? cause he made commercials.
We got a good QB in Baker you blow that up we are right back to where we were all those years since 1999 looking for a QB. What a bunch of LOSERS - get that crap out of here...lol ah [censored] still love you guys
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

Par for the course.
In the end only one team will win it all and the rest are unhappy.
So instead of looking at how to improve and what steps will be best to make that happen.
There are those who will say we can never win. Or, we just suck. Or, it's all on Baker, Stefanski, OC, DC, Haslam or a curse.
I am glad I am not one of those.
The focus now shifts to Andrew Berry. Between now and the start of training camp he must figure out a way to get better.
Free agency and then the draft will be the places that the team will have to mine.
From where the team is today and what we be the fastest way to a championship.
I would try to build a dominant defense first. Improve the receiver unit. And work with what we have and what we do best.

Have you thought maybe being good isnt good enough anymore At the QB position? Look at the playoff QBs...they are better than Good. Allen, Burrow, Mahomes, Prescott, Herbert. Mayfield is a poor mans Andy Dalton. The Baker vs the world narrative makes a good sound bite 4 years.ago. But its not equating wins Bakers metrics in.the 4th q. Doesnt lie. He is 32 out of 32 If Baker Mayfield and Joe Burrow switched teams Which team would be in playoffs?

After watching some yesterdays games it became clear our season would end soon.
We are not a complete team yet.
A lot went wrong this year. In the end we were not good enough to be a playoff team this season.
The division winners this year are offensive teams that score a lot of points. There is no dominant defensive team.
Looking at the Browns moving forward. Evaluating our roster as it stands today. I do not believe we can catch up offensively to the teams that won their divisions in one off season.
I do believe we can build a dominate defense. Doing that will give us the best chance to win.
Myles, Ward, Newsome, JOK, JJ, Greedy, McDowell, Delpit and Clowney are players to build around.
Clowney may not be long term but I would sign him to a two year deal if he would take it.
I would build depth at pass rushers. And get the best players i could find at the other positions.
====================================================================================
On offense we have great runners. Build depth on the OL.
Improve the receiver unit as a whole.
And for next year hope for the best with Baker.
I would also cut Keenum. Then take a flyer on Trubisky. He is a free agent. I don't how he will turn out but he has better upside than Keenum.
I thought he got hosed in Chicago. He was not ready to be a starter and when they made him one. He had no chance with the coaching and team around him. So, I would take a chance and see if he can be a better player.

Come on Browns fans! At the very least we don't suck anymore. I'll take average over 0 & 16 any day of the week. It's better to laugh then cry about it. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/EgB2leG.jpg) Oh that hurts but it is funny!

I agree, as long as he knows coming in that Baker is the starter game #1. Gotta let it play out.

Baker had a bad year this year... likely due to injuries but also some bad mechanics... who ever they bring in at QB should have every chance to be the starter... no player should be given the job unless their last name is Rodgers or Brady

But, barring a new coaching staff, implementing a new offense or something else that would put a new backup on equal footing with Baker going in to TC (none of which will happen), we should probably let a healthy Baker have the season to prove himself one way or the other. Announcing it's an open competition with a new backup acquisition with someone like Trubisky is looking for trouble on a lot of different levels (imo). Gotta let it play out. And if the #2 QB happens to play at some point during the season and shines, all the better if we decide to go a different direction in 2023.

Baker would be the starter.
He would remain the starter until injured or he plays his way out of being a starter.
I like the idea of Trubisky for many reasons. He came to the NFL with as little experience as can be imagined.
In addition he was young as well. However, he did get some NFL experience as a starter. He is athletic and has a good arm. He has good size.
In some ways his expereince was like Tannehill in Miami. Tannehill was a converted TE. He had a good arm. He was athletic and could run. He also lacked experience.
I have no idea if Trubisky will ever turn out to be anything good. But I do believe at worst case he will be a capable backup.
And who knows given a legit opportunity what he will do.

Baker will ask to be traded the minute 'competition', real or perceived, is brought in. He's not wired to accept that. And he's not wired to actually win a QB competition. Baker is at his best when he's an unquestioned alpha. Unquestioned alpha + low expectations = rookie Baker and the rookie TD record. Expectations and competition = 2019 and 2021 Baker.
Probably best scenario is stick with Baker and if they want to cut Keenum's salary, draft a guy in the middle rounds.
Under that scenario I also sign Allen Robinson and Gallup (not sure about the injury now) and draft a WR in the 1st or 2nd round.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

I agree. If you're bringing in actual competition just pull the plug and move in. It would prove disastrous.
Gallup is a guy I would have really liked to see them bring in via FA. Today it was confirmed his ACL was torn. Bummer.
Berry built the OL in year 1, the defense in year 2. This offseason his focus should be on building the passing game.

IMO that is pure specualtion.
Besides that will not be his decision. It is all on Berry.
All professionals from any team sport have to deal with competition.
As a two time walk on Baker is certainly aware that starting roles are earned.
Secondly rookie's drafted in middle rounds are guys to develop not act as backups.
Backups are guys like Keenum. But in this case Trubisky has at least been a starter. Plus he may have potential.
IMO if 2022 is the final trial for Baker then have a plan. Keenum is not a good plan. He is a band aid who can be adequate for a few games.
Honestly, there are no real good options. None of this ideal.
If getting Wilson is real I would explore that. But I don't think it is. Rodgers would not come here. No reason if he only wants to play a couple years. He will not leave GB IMO.
So, Trubisky is just a flyer who can be a backup at worst. But you never know what he could be until he gets a chance.

Yeah - he only walked on at both Texas Tech and Oklahoma and won the starting QB positions at each, but he's not wired to accept competition.

It’s a QB/scoring league … and they can do it with the best of them now It's really ironic if you go look at the coaching staff they have assembled.. HC was a QB coach that got Jared Goff into the pro-bowl in 2018... 2 years later they were trading him and he's all but out of football. OC is a QB coach that got Derek Carr to the pro-bowl in 2018... Our HC got Kirk Cousins to a 3600 yard season and our OC coached Andy Dalton before they got rid of him and drafted Joe Burrow..

but that last post was a temper tantrum. Maybe so. I'm literally beaten down by my fandom of this team. I'm at the point where I don't think it will ever get better. We're all fans, we're all frustrated, and that's the way I lash out. Not productive.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.
