The short kickoffs are perplexing to me. Cade York has a very strong leg, right?

Yeah, i dont get it either. Unless we’re trying to get cute and pin them even further. But Berrios was getting to the 35 yard line consistently

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

If it happens once, it's an aberration. If it happens more than once, it is by design.

Just pre-cautionary with Clowney. Short week and all. We could use him, but this happens.

Meanwhile Andrew Berry is happy with DPJ and Schwartz and does
Nothing to upgrade the WR room.
DPJ and Schwartz have less than 100 yds combined
In 2 games. Some of you just need to admit
Those 2 WRs aren't very good.

One thing I noticed: we didnt target Schwartz one time vs NY. And our offense was as efficient as it could be. Wonder if it’s a coincidence

Or did the defense not wanting to get beat deep (by Schwartz) open things up for Cooper? The running game certainly helped, too. The threat of a thing can be as valuable as the actual thing. Seeing Schwartz actually score a quick 6 would be nice, though.

The offense was fine against the Jets. The defensive meltdown was atrocious. I don't know whether to hope or fear whether the issue is tied to conditioning. If it is, a short week doesn't bode particularly well. On the other hand, once they round into "game shape" the issues might go away if this is the case.

Yeah, the Jets were so worried about a WR that can't catch the ball they focused on him instead of a proven pro bowl WR. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Two weeks are in the books and many questions surround the Browns. We have players tearing it up and others who appear to be out to lunch. A 1-1 record but owners of two double digit leads blown in the 4th quarter against cellar dwellers Carolina and the NY Jets. The PFF Grades are out for the first 2 weeks of the season. The players the Browns have at the top are not unexpected - they are stars in their own right. Likewise, the vast majority of those players grading out low are the same players that have been grading out low for years now. The couple of surprises both high and low provide some explanation for struggles we seem to face this year and previous years. here's the scores for the first 2-weeks of the season - FYI:

The PFF grading system evaluates every player on every play during a football game. We believe that #EveryPlayCounts and that attention to detail provides insights and data that cannot be found anywhere else. The grading system was founded on the principle of grading “production” rather than traits or measurables, but perhaps a better way to describe it is a player’s “contribution to production” on a given play.

Did the quarterback make a great throw, but it was dropped? The quarterback contributed to positive production and will receive a positive grade for that effort, even though the receiver let him down, earning a negative grade along the way.

Each game players are graded on a scale from 1-100. 90-100 represents an elite grade, 85-89 represents an all-conference player, 70-84 is starter quality, 60-69 is backup quality and everything under 60 is replaceable.

Amari's Targets Brownswire Link

Look at the giant window Brissett had to throw into on his third target. Schwartz' man had to turn and sprint to keep up with him, and the safety started and stayed deep until the ball was thrown because of him.

DPJ does similar on his 5th target.

There are more to the plays than just following the ball.

So your contention is they kept a S deep because of Schwartz. I guess that's as good of a theory as any.

Not so much because he's Schwartz, but because he was the deepest receiver. The deep safety's assignment is generally to stay deeper than the deepest. Schwartz can get deep pretty quickly. In that instance, Schwartz appears to be the one he was staying deeper than.

Some fans are so freaking stupid.

I remember sitting in the Dawg Pound decades ago and this dude beside me--and some of his friends--were taking rocks and golf balls out of their coat pockets and throwing them in Denver's huddle. I told them to knock it off and a fight almost ensued, but luckily some others joined in w/me and security also arrived. Just freaking ignorant.

I didn't make the scale - it is what it is. The point is that the 6 defensive players you listed are playing at a level that's replaceable. I didn't make up their grade, it's how they performed each play they were on the field. Two games in a row the Browns defense blew double digit leads to 2 of the weakest offensive teams in the NFL. Obviously, someone on the defense isn't playing up to the level needed for the team to be successful. 4 of the 11 starters are on this list. That does not qualify the Browns defense as a top 5 defense like it was posted 100's of times on this forum. Adding to that point is that 3 of the 5 starting defensive backs are on this list and according to the pundits here, our defensive backfield is supposed to be top notched. After 2-weeks, their performance numbers tell quite a different story.

Winfrey might already be down to strike 3 lol

The Cleveland Browns made multiple roster moves on Tuesday, including a pair of players to the injured reserve. Defensive end Chase Winovich and tight end Jesse James will both miss at least four games.

Winovich missed much of training camp with an injury, so they just keep piling up for the former Michigan Wolverine. Jadeveon Clowney is already out for at least a week with an ankle injury, so the edge room is quickly being depleted. The Browns will have to rely on rookies Alex Wright and Isaiah Thomas, as well as Isaac Rochell to pair with Myles Garrett.

I am not in the locker room or with the team on the field. I do not know if he didn't hold others to the same accountability in other situations. This isn't an ah-ha! See I'm right, you're wrong. Or look how awesome Stefanski is. I just want to point out one situation of where he held a player accountable (for whatever he did), when the player could've been in the rotation. If your reply is what about Woods? I wasn't there for the after game or Monday meeting, I cannot comment on that.

Cut down on gameday mental mistakes, and there's no need for "morale booster" accountability meetings after two games.

Get the onfield defensive play figured out immediately.

These are grown men. Do your job professionally on a consistent basis, and there'll be no more need for meetings about "pulling together".

He does. I think all but one that went deep were planned. You can tell the planned high kicks because the ball rotates much faster since it is kicked lower.

I didn't understand that plan after maybe one kick since we weren't getting it done on the coverage. Maybe we thought we could cover and strip the ball.

It didn't work.

Just saw that Joe Haden is signing a one day contract to retire a Brown. Honestly, can we make that one day be Thursday so he can suit up haha

I listened to Winfrey.

Hard to draw a conclusion. I think he has potential. I hope whatever happened is cleared up and he can contribute.

He has works to do and needs to improve. But there is talent there.

It is up to him

I think it's nice they are retiring Haden's number in a game where we are playing the Steelers. I hope the idiot fans don't boo him because he also played for the Steelers.
