- Absolutely embarrassing performance.
- I still do not understand the point in Flacco. It's a waste of time with no upside.
- The offense is really, really bad.
- The OL is old and slow. Dawand Jones is a backup at best.
- The rookies looked good for the most part.
- Hats off to Szmyt.
- Defense contained Henry as the always do.
- Get Ward pallets of Pedialyte.
- The combination of Harden/Mitchell is rough.
15 more opportunities.

I would start Joe next week and if things start to go south, which probably will happen, then I'd put Dillon in. Green bay's D will be tough with Parsons. You don't want to see him get beat up.

Anybody thinking Flacco was going to bring back that fools good performance from 2023 is just silly . This oline was so over rated going into the year. Dwand Jones is like a refrigerator. Berry still has yet to find a competent LT. The Ravens have playmakers all over. Shut down Henry No problem. Hopkins , Walker , Flowers are playmakers. This roster is Berry's fault . Yet people still applaud him

- ST's has been a complete disaster both games - Our OL sucks .. old, no push, slow - We have very few playmakers - Flacco is a statue and is good for 2-3 TO prone balls a game - Our defense is good until they get worn down or injured, which is the case
Gonna be a LONG year again
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Depressing to watch another good effort from the defense get wasted.
Just keep on losing for the #1 pick.

we have so many holes on the offensive side of the ball. Basically every OL spot, WR, and obviously QB

- Flacco looked really bad. I didn't see the whole field during the game, obviously, but what seems missing after two weeks are deep throw opportunities...perhaps a result of the OL. His INT in the second half was atrocious and all on him. Jeudy dropping passes again. - The cornerback room needs help. I thought after the Emerson injury we'd target someone in a trade or FA, but not to be. But, honestly, does it make a difference to spend in a presumed "down year"? Not sure about Hickman, either. - Browns DL look good. I feel like we do well against Henry in recent years and we did again today. - I still do not understand the point in Flacco. It's a waste of time with no upside. I feel like the same could be said in regards to the Pickett trade if we were 0-2. It was to bide time for the rookies to play. The difference, for me at least, would have been Flacco had a history of lightening in the bottle with Stefanski. Not that we didn't have that last week, but we surely didn't have it today. I don't think a switch will happen next week agains the Packers, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's not too far away.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

No depth on the OL either and didn't bother to draft an O-lineman in the past draft either. Zinter can't even make the game day roster.

I was unable to watch the game. How did Judkins look. I saw his YPC was good, but how was his vision, hitting holes, evading & escaping tackles etc.

He looked good, especially with only having a couple days of practice over the last few months.

Maybe, since he played well, Roger G will see the need for a long suspension.

The kicker is back in my good graces. For now.
Judkins showed some pop. I think we’re gonna like him.
Our D played them tough, but the fumble return for a TD, the blocked punt, the inability to push the ball downfield on too many third and longs, (we need our WRs to get open) eventually wore out the D.
We were only down 7 at the half, if that means anything.
There was one play when we had a screen set up that might have went for big yards, but Pocic was late getting out to make the block and the play was blown up.
The Ravens have a good front but our OL must, MUST get better at creating some run lanes.

we have so many holes on the offensive side of the ball. Basically every OL spot, WR, and obviously QB For that reason I would allow Myles through his agent seek a trade. The Parsons trade gives us the benchmark. A good player plus 2 first rounders. That would be 3 first rounders next year and 2 the year after. Plus the good starter to be named. Myles keeps us in games, but he doesn't win games. In general I though joe looked disinterested. Dillion provided a spark in garbage time. I am not sure what Ravens defenders were in the game but it doesn't matter, that TD pass was well defended and it was a perfect pass. Judkins shows some burst. I think he will be good. Fannin looks good as well. Good enough I would look to move Njoku. I doubt we will look to sign him to another contract so we might as well get something for him.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

it's as apathetic as I've been after WEEK TWO in my life. There's just nothing escaping a double digit loss season

Myles has to be totally disgusted and I don’t blame him. We’ll be out of it by the trade deadline probably way before that. I would consider trade offers for him. He’s as good if not better than Parsons and we saw what Dallas got. JMO

Would hate to see them both go, but trades are the only way out of this train wreck. I agree with you We really found a gem in Fannin, guy has skills. Berry actually had a great draft for once.

If we win next week and the Bungles lose, we’re right there in the AFC North race.
I’m not ready to throw in the towel.

problem is we play the packers, who are going to be very well rested and probably the best team in the NFL right now

Also , Sampson completely whiffed on a block, snd Hickman couldn’t stop the guy who blocked the punt.
Our secondary needs help, Mitchell isn’t playing well and gives up too many completions. Is Ward OK?

I know this won't go over well for most of this board
I kind of wish Watson was ready to go
Then if needed Gabriel
The Defense is being insulted again by piss poor Offense play
The Browns could easily be 2-0 if they had a QB and a ST's coach

So, here’s my issue with this thread. We are pointing out the holes in the team and the answer is to poke more holes in the team and fill the holes with draft picks, most of which do not live up to expectations?
If it’s me, the best thing this team has going for it right now is a championship level defense, don’t take the best piece on that side of the ball away.
Second thing is making sure we have a complimentary piece to pair with Fannin. I would like to re-sign Njoku because he is good in the locker room and very competent at his position. Getting a 3rd round draft pick for him does nothing to help this team.
I agree with the evaluation of the oline, we’ve been talking about it since Joe Thomas retired. We are going to have to take flyers on guys until we find good replacement parts, at least until Watsons money is cleared off the cap.
To trade good pieces for draft picks doesn’t change any outcomes.

I don't think our OL play has been talked about enough by the talking heads/cleveland media - our OL is really bad

They (CLE talking heads) only talk about Shedeur and the kicker. This week will be non stop talk of "is it time to bench Flacco?" Two years in a row the OL has entered the season with serious concerns and nothing had/has been done to improve the line or plan for the future.

We need to get some studs at OL and secondary in the next draft

I only had radio for the game today.
Our announcers harped really hard on the defense that both Baltimore and Cinci were playing on us. Basically, until we can establish a run game, our offense is going to be solely dink-dunk-punt. I think the short game doing what little it has so far is actually somewhat impressive, but the long ball won't be there until we get teams to fear our run game again.
Still a ton of time in the season, but Tillman isn't doing what he needs to in order to solidify his hold on the #2 spot. He's gotta be a reliable pair of hands and figure out how to get more consistent separation. It was said a bunch of the broadcast that Flacco didn't have guys getting open. Jeudy didn't have a great game, either.
I'm surprised they had Judkins going today. I thought they'd give him a full week of practice before playing for real.
It's crazy (to me) how fast a position of strength can turn into a weakness. Schwartz has some work to do because not being able to handle Ward being out is a recipe for disaster. We already knew that the D would have to carry this team. I gotta tip my hat to the people harping on secondary depth... I see what you mean. Similarly, the O-line doesn't seem to be getting its shine back with the switch back to their preferred blocking scheme. Our tackle depth is very troubling.
Szmyt played a clean game. Good for him. For all the hype on getting Bubba Ventrone here, the overall performance of the ST unit has been mediocre at best.
Dillon Gabriel looked cool/competent again throwing against an NFL defense. I know it was garbage time and I am NOT advocating for him to take over, but I think it's positive that, aside from a couple obvious mistakes, the game doesn't look too big for him. If the next 4 games the way I think they will, I wouldn't mind seeing Gabriel in some extended action.
As positive as it is seeing the young guys (Schwesinger, Gabriel, Fannon, Sampson) playing well, the poor play of our Oline is VERY concerning.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

What used to be a strength with our OL quickness and power is a big liability

You know it's a new Browns season when everyone is calling for a QB change by Week 3.
If it's not Chaos, it's not Cleveland.

Flacco looking like he's plodding through a knee deep pool of hummus doesn't help the OL either. The defense can just bring pressure all day knowing the geriatric QB can't move. I'd like to the to petition the NFL that Flacco be allowed to use a Rascal scooter on those bootlegs.

What's the role of the "new" Offensive coordinator? Same role as the last one?
If it's not Chaos, it's not Cleveland.

So, here’s my issue with this thread. We are pointing out the holes in the team and the answer To trade good pieces for draft picks doesn’t change any outcomes. Maybe not, but doing nothing doesn't change anything either.

we have so many holes on the offensive side of the ball. Basically every OL spot, WR, and obviously QB Yep. This was my concern before the season started along with the defensive backfield. No depth on the OL either and didn't bother to draft an O-lineman in the past draft either. Zinter can't even make the game day roster. And yet folks want to say Berry is doing a good job as GM and that this roster that he has built is good and only missing a QB. I just don't see how any Brown's fan doesn't look at this collection of talent and feel like we're short in too many places and chronically bad behind our starters. Nearly every pre-season article I read menetioned an aging and fragile OL ... and yet ... Gabriel better NOT see much time vs GB - they have a very good D. They held Detroit, who just put up 52 to on CHI, to 13 points ... let's not ruin him just yet. It was not fun to watch - Judkins with no preseason and Fannin really the lone bright spots other than the DL. I mentioned last week how slow Joe F is when a play doesn't go according to script - he was even more exposed today. And I agree the O is struggling without the deep threat - it's hard to call a deep pass if the OL isn't that crash hot and the QB can't extend the play for even a moment or two ... and with a lack of mobility roll outs which could buy some time, are not an option. My concern is we need to find a W - and Vikings, Dolphins and Patriots might be our best chance in the first 8 weeks - and none of those are games will be favourites for. It's not easy to be optimistic or even maintain a 'no expectations' perspective.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

- ST's has been a complete disaster both games - Our OL sucks .. old, no push, slow - We have very few playmakers - Flacco is a statue and is good for 2-3 TO prone balls a game - Our defense is good until they get worn down or injured, which is the case
Gonna be a LONG year again When a GM has no idea what’s he’s doing then this’s what you get. we have so many holes on the offensive side of the ball. Basically every OL spot, WR, and obviously QB See previous answer. Without a long term plan executed by competent leaders nothin will change. When will all his defenders realize that? Berry still has no idea on how to construct a offense. Cant wait to see his fan club defend him With an incompetent GM and a mediocre HC then this’s what you get. Results tells you the reality. we have so many holes on the offensive side of the ball. Basically every OL spot, WR, and obviously QB This team needs an open heart surgery but it must be done by someone has done it before. For that reason I would allow Myles through his agent seek a trade. Trading Myles isn’t ideal but what’s the alternative? Anybody thinking Flacco was going to bring back that fools good performance from 2023 is just silly . This oline was so over rated going into the year. Dwand Jones is like a refrigerator. Berry still has yet to find a competent LT. The Ravens have playmakers all over. Shut down Henry No problem. Hopkins , Walker , Flowers are playmakers. This roster is Berry's fault . Yet people still applaud him This’s the result of several seasons of mismanagement. Quick fixes instead of a long term strategy. It started almost immediately after Baker got hurt. Lack of patience, not enough belief in trusting the process, inability of creating a honest and loyal environment. From hunting Baker out of town to discrediting Shedeur. There’s a visible and clear pattern in the lack of leadership, the incompetence and the behavior that create all the drama and why the organization doesn’t have the ability to evolve in a positive way. . Berry is fighting for his job. Those who’re now trying to defend him are probably emotionally blocked from reality. Stefanski is neither good or bad but isn’t it obvious that he doesn’t have the passion, the drive or the ability to turn this around right now. It’s sad and it sucks.

The game went about as expected. Browns just can't stop a team with this much offensive power. Our special teams made some bad mistakes. The Ravens defense kept getting to Flacco way too easy and that caused some bad plays but that wasn't really unexpected when you look at the age of our OL. I felt the game was enjoyable enough to watch for the first 3 quarters but then everything collapsed.
This game shows to me we need a true number 1 WR who is big and physical. We also need to draft a stud CB because we are getting old and broken at this position. We also need some young studs of offensive line. I honestly think we need to take care of those before we draft a QB with a high 1st round draft pick. Let our rookies this year fight it out next year.
On the plus side Fannon looks like a legit monster out there! Judkins looks legit too. It was nice to see him break away like a freight train and that big run. Our D-line was making some hellacious pass rush pressure but what can you do when the QB can throw crazy passes and they have stud wrs who can come up with it anyways. Baltimore has some hellacious WRs. We shut Derrick Henry DOWN!!! In fact, we shut their running game down period but they had lamar so they just didn't need to run it much but still find the good where you can.
Yet again, Lamar is just unstoppable. I expected it so it doesn't frustrate me that much. I was glad DG got to play some at the end when the game fell out of reach. I love that Joe was trying to tackle when he threw that interception. Poor guy wanted to win so bad.

from my perspective about the WRs, Jeudy is a solid #2 guy, Tillman seems to be too inconsistent and we are forcing Bond/Thrash when they are not ready or capable of being reliable guys. We can't push the ball down the field at all and can't manipulate the pocket because of Flacco's lack of mobility. That's a bad recipe
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Right now Bond should be running a go on every play.
Takes a Cb out of the play on Runs, pulls a safety on passing down to open things up in the mid-range which is where Jeudy thrives. That seems to be all Bond has to offer right now

Team needs for next season
#1 - Quarterback - Someone big and strong and can run like Drew Allar #2 - Left Tackle - Move Dawand Jones back to Right tackle #3 - Wide Receiver - A threat that has good hands opposite Jerry Jeudy #4 - Cornerback - A nickel corner that can cover slot receivers #5 - Free Safety - A centerfielder that can cover tight ends down the field and make plays on down the field throws. This team has to create more turnovers.

A thought... please correct/expand if you see fit. A true centerfielder at safety with a shift in scheme in our secondary would probably mitigate a lot of the issue we're seeing at CB. We like to run a lot of man coverages, but if Ward has to check out we're suddenly VERY understaffed to do so. Lack of suitable depth is still an issue, but on the radio broadcast they made it out to be more of a coaching/adjustment issue.
Jeudy may have just had a bad game. I'm more worried about Tillman and the #2 spot.
Tackle was a glaring issue that really didn't get addressed this off-season. We are going to have a LOT of work to do, and that's even if Jones doesn't continue with his durability issues.

In other words, the only areas where I feel "OK" about are DL and TE. Outside of that, I think every area is a concern

It's tough for me to know how much KS/AB had to do with the Watson decision or if it was forced onto them, which is a big crux of our whole current situation

He plays well or very well against the weakest teams, but very pedestrian against quality teams. Look at his stats against Villanova this past weekend. Pretty weak. Look at his stats last year. He had big numbers against weak teams.

While Judkins didn't exactly light it up, for his first game after only a couple of days of practice he looked good and showed promise.
While it was garbage time it was nice to see Gabriel put a quick, efficient scoring drive together.
Yet at the same time there's no reason to start him before week 7 even if Flacco throws 3 int's a game. In the grand scheme of things he is a smart kid who keeps his cool under pressure. He has some skills. But you don't want to throw him into the fire against tough teams right out of the gate. At some point you have to think about things from a moving forward aspect and not in the moment. I don't want to see the kid get ruined before he has an opportunity to get acclimated to the NFL.
Unless Flacco gets injured to the point he can't make it onto the field, keep him as the starter though game six.
Posters have been busy in this thread pointing out all of the reasons this team won't make it to the playoffs his year and rightfully so, so why ruin this kid early to accomplish nothing more than adding insult to injury?
As for all of the negatives people have posted about, for the most part I agree so there's really not much need in me repeating it all.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Flacco has to stay in there AT LEAST for the next 2 games. Ideally, he stays in until the bye or until we can establish some sort of identity on O (whichever comes first, most likely).

I do like the trio of Judkins, Sampson and Fannin. Thats the bright spot IMO

I agree about Allar. Brady Quinn had the same trait. He played well against bad teams and very average against good ones. It's early but I like the kid from South Carolina LaNorris Sellers.

Since Baker, I've gone from cautiously optimistic, to shaking-my-head, to this is embarrassing and finally I've considered witness protection. I can't even align myself with this team while Stefanski and Berry, The Stats-ling brothers and Jethro Bodean...er Haslam are running this team like a Benny Hill episode.
Glad I don't have tickets to the stadium or NFL Sunday Ticket, otherwise, I'd feel obligated to watch this giant poop to show up every week.
I'd say, I'm a bit discouraged.

I think we have some gems from this draft class.
Mason Graham (making an impact) Carson Schwesinger (making an impact) Quinshon Judkins (making an impact) Harold Fannin Jr. (making an impact)
Dylan Sampson (in between) has had some nice plays and could make an impact after he learns how to block.
Trading for Watson really hurt us...
Meh.

Imagine having baker and those draft picks that we squandered. This team would be much different

So, here’s my issue with this thread. We are pointing out the holes in the team and the answer To trade good pieces for draft picks doesn’t change any outcomes. Maybe not, but doing nothing doesn't change anything either. Not "doing nothing"... doing as much as you can in any given offseason. We currently have 11 draft picks in 2026, including (2) first rounders. Use those picks to replace people like Jack Conklin and Cedric Tillman, instead of trading Myles Garrett for a 2026 and 2027 first round pick, in which you need to use one of them on a replacement for Myles Garrett. Do you know the odds of getting another player like Myles Garrett in the first round? It's pretty damn low. This past offseason, they filled interior defense, LB, TE, RB... ALL seem to be working out pretty well so far. We didn't trade existing pieces for draft picks for them to fill, we just filled existing holes. Trading a player, especially the caliber of Garrett and to a lower extent Njoku, creates holes. Draft picks don't fill holes, a prayer that the draft pick will be as good as a replacement only goes so far. MOST draft picks fail. There is something like 255 draft picks per year and almost all of them fail on some level. Some don't make a roster, others never live up to expectations and either fall out of the league in 2-4 years or stay in the league, but never live up to a first round draft grade. Any way you look at it, Myles Garrett type talent is rare.. that is the reason they don't let 50 players into the HOF per year... Myles is going to get one of those coveted spots and he is at the peak of his career. Njoku isn't as extreme unless you look at the situation. For him, you are talking about a 4th, possibly 3rd, but more likely 4th round draft pick. These mid to late round picks almost always fail to be with their original team through their rookie contract. Very low success rate. So, while Njoku is in the last year of his deal, another 6-15 games with him is still more likely worth more than a 4th round rookie. The odds are higher for success in those games, than a replacement for the next 4 years. Plus, financially it would make more sense to sign him to a new contract rather than let him go into free agency and pay his void years. "Doing nothing" is sometimes worth a lot more than just doing something to say you did...

I'm kind of wondering if Joe hurt himself early in the game. He had been moving pretty well (considering) during camp and OTAs. There was a play where he started to step up to avoid pressure and it looked like something gave or caught midstep. He looked increasingly statuesque and some of his throws were pretty off the rest of the game. Hopefully he can make it to the bye.

Imagine if we they had drafted Josh Allen. They drafted Baker #1 overall with Josh Allen on the board. I mean if we're going to imagine we may as well go big, right?

I don't think we are confident enough in the rest of our Oline to trade someone like Garrett. Similarly, the Stefanski offense benefits from having more than one starter-caliber TE.
The only reason you trade a guy like Garrett purely for picks is to stock up draft ammo to get a major piece (ie. QB) or if the contract is coming up, you're up against a deadline and know for a fact the guy isn't re-signing with you.
As for the "doing nothing" part... it's week 2 of a season where we had Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and two later-round draft picks in an open competition for the starter job.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

I just cannot understand how people continue to support the Stefanski/berry team. They have only continued the misery. First off, the Berry/Stefanski team started two years after Joe Thomas retired. - I agree it is sad that Thomas never was able to experience success as a team. Second, Myles has already experienced two playoff appearances and 3 playoff games in 7 years... more than any other player since the Browns returned in 1999. I know that isn't NEARLY enough, but this team was handcuffed with the Watson situation that set the franchise back 5 years. He got paid to understand that situation very well. Of the Stefanski/Berry era, they had Baker Mayfield for 2 years and have had DeSean Watson for the other 3.... With Baker, they made the playoffs and won a game.. Post Baker they made the playoffs despite Watson, but lost. The pieces need to be put back in order to crawl up from the situation. This is the first year they have had pieces to start that climb. It won't happen overnight. Despite all the issues and lack of playoffs, they Browns are 15-15 against the division since they arrived. I know you don't win Super Bowls just by beating your division, but it has been one of the toughest divisions during that time period and they have been very competitive. They have the one 3 win scar, which is recent, I know. Otherwise, they have been right there to the end competing for the playoffs. You are acting like this duo has been in place since Haslem got here.. It's only been 5 seasons.

That points out clearly that it makes all phases of the game.
Before the game I felt we had to play a complete game. That begins with winning the turnover battle.
Then all three phases ST, Offense, and Defense.
The defense has been special for two games.
ST horrible. Offense not good enough.
One good thing was the kicker righted himself. However, his first game caused the loss.
Encouraging has been the play of the rookie class.

Not sure about our secondary. This defense has done parts well, and the third level has stunk it up. Are we setting up failures by being too exotic? Rank the D, man by man, level by level, about how willing they are to tackle. How eager? Some of our outbacks are avoiding the same IMO. Our OFFENSE needs to stay on the field with drives. Not any help there if they are handing out points AND extra possessions.

The Browns have one of the worst, bottom 5, head coaches in the league. Until that is rectified, the results will stay the same. I've been saying this since year 2. This was all very predictable.
But he'll get a stay of execution because Bubba will be the sacrificial lamb this year. Haslam has become so afraid to be criticized for acting too hastily that he doesn't act at all.
This is what he has to show for six years in -
--3-17 in the last 20 games --never won a division or come close to winning a division --never started 2-0 --couldn't make it work with either starting QB he was given --was given an embarrassment of riches by Dorsey and squandered it all; no coach has ever done less with more --the side of the ball he has the least to do with plays inspired, aggressive, winning football; his side of the ball plays like they've never seen a blitz before or drew up plays with hot reads --no developmental player seems to develop...ever...not a single wide receiver drafted has been any good; zinter doesn't even dress on game day and the list goes on --invents new ways to lose annually --wasting the primes of the best defensive player in the league and a top 3 corner --was in the basement during the best coaching job of his tenure with no communication with the team --has fired and hired numerous coordinators but the results don't change; he is the common denominator --took him 6 years to realize camp cupcake doesn't work --caught lightning in a bottle twice but unable to sustain anything
People like him because he's not a fat slob who calls people by their first names in pressers, but the results don't lie. The offense takes on the personality of their coach. Ho-hum, whatever...drop balls, doesn't matter. It's not about the results, it's about the process. What did they say...they are intentional about the process? I don't even know what that means.
Browns need a win first mentality coach that prioritizes winning first and everything else after. Until we have that, the results will never change.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

I didn't see the game but if our O was so bad how did we outgain them? Maybe someone who watched it could give some insight. Garbage time. The Browns gained ~57% of their yardage after being down 3 scores. Bringing back memories of Colt McCoy. He was great at that.

Kev may have taken the the Dale Carnegie school of public speaking course! Catherine Hickman loves talking about "being very intentional in every facet of the process."

And (3) OL...in the 6th (?) year of this regime...this is where we are. Ballpeen, isn’t it sad that we have had a generational talent on the o line, Joe, and a generational talent on the d line, Myles, and our leadership has not even gotten close to putting a team around them that would allow them to compete for a championship.
It's only been 5 seasons.Only five seasons? Almost all of our key players, the playmakers, will be gone or heavily past their best in one or two seasons. Without Garrett, Ward, Njuko and the old guard at the OL there’s almost nothing left. There’re so many holes in our roster that it’s hard to see that this team will be competitive in the next four five seasons. Let us be honest for once. A open heart surgery, where you remove all vital pieces and replace them with new organs. That’s what it takes to turn this franchise around.

The offense was a rough watch a second time though on All-22.
The Ravens have an excellent defense, they really had a great scheme for us this week. They also did an excellent job on identifying our tendencies and exploring them.
As for the offense, I rarely have said it in the past...but this week was really predictable. A lot of their pass plays, were the same thing over and over. If you have an infatuation for watching guys run dig routes, then this was your game. There is nothing wrong with them, however in general the passing game looked very similar a big portion of the game.
Issues with the offense in this game:
1. Execution - A few of the plays were to the point where you couldn't decipher what the offense was trying to do. Example: I "think" they were trying to run a screen pass, however all the lineman went left, the back went right. There were a couple other plays that were similar where a player would be off in no-mans land. Was it a miscommunication? Did he not know his assignment?
2. Communication - between the line on pickups, one example: RDE comes off the edge, Jones blocks down on the DT, one of our RBs (I think Sampson) blocks down with him, Right DE gets free hurry on Flacco
3. The little things - Slow to getting to the second level on blocks or not getting the angle to seal off the hole. This was an issue last game, same this game. Example: Running play to the right between the guard/tackle, there is a hole for a 8+ yard gain. Whitehead who is lined up on the left side as a TE has to angle right and seal off the backside LB. He's doesn't take the angle, blocks the LB straight up and the LB ends up making the tackle after a 4 yard gain. There were numerous other examples, by our lineman.
4. Audibles? - There were a couple run plays that were dead before the play was even started. Example: Run to the left - we line up with 5 blockers on the left (2 TEs..or maybe it was 1 WR, LT, LG, and C), the Ravens have 7 loaded to that same side. Maybe I am missing something or a good chance of not knowing what was to happen, however that is two uncounted defenders to put helmets on.
5. Snap counts - By mid-game the LBs or DBs were going almost full speed to the line by the time the ball was snapped. This should've been identified and changed to keep them off balance.
6. There were a couple of plays that if Flacco was patient (when he had time to throw), where he had a receiver open mid-range (15-20 yards) for a big gain. However, he left that 1st-2nd read too quickly and when to his outlet. His mental clock seemed to speed up very early in the game. Though I don't blame him...to a point.
There were a few other points, though I'll just end it here.

PFF grades every player on every play and uses a scale of 0-100, with higher grades indicating better play. PFF has explained its grades this way: 100-90 elite; 89-85 Pro Bowler; 84-70 starter; 69-60 backup; 59-0 replaceable. In other words, it’s similar to how we would match up percentages with traditional letter grades in school.Week 2 PFF Grades. Dawand Jones (he had 29.0 Week 1 grade) does not even belong on the field. Sadly, Lucas had to play in Glass Conklin's absence. Week 2 Browns Offense PFF GradesWeek 2 Browns Defense PFF Grades

Joe's inability to move was a big liability. The backside pursuit has zero worry about him potentially keeping the ball. And he's easy to find for pass rushers.

I wouldn't want to draft a QB unless he fell to us naturally. We have a lot of catching up to do. IMO we have gone about drafting a QB the wrong way. To me the best way is to collect the players who can support the QB before you draft a QB. We don't have much of that. Njoku is gone after this season unless he takes a big pay cut, which he won't do. You can already see the team is grooming Fannin to be the replacement. It's not that hard to find an in-line TE to be the 2nd TE. Whitehurst looks pretty good to me. We need to target him some to see if he can be a decent receiving option. As for Garbiel, if Joe struggles, put Gabriel in at the half next week and don't look back. I don't want to spend another high draft pick until we know for sure that we don't already have a good QB on the roster. As for the competition, we should have kept Pickett and gone in to the season with 4 rostered QB's. It would have meant we had to cut some guy who plays special teams. How special are our special teams? They suck. How much worse could they be? As for Garrett, I love the guy but he has already played the trade me card. Now that he has his no trade clause, how long to you see him being a happy camper unless we show real progress in short order? I don't blame the guy and am not saying that to imply him some sort of turncoat. It's just the reality. If we don't win 3-4 games by the trade deadline, he is going to want out. In his time here he has seen this team waste the careers of Bitonio, Cubb, Thomas...soon to be Garrett.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

To me the best way is to collect the players who can support the QB before you draft a QB. We don't have much of that. I disagree. If your guy is there, you get him. Use FA to plug major holes and then let the rest of the draft come to you. That's what they did this past draft and even though it has me throwing fits sometimes, I agree with the approach. I couldn't disagree more with the first part. Joe isn't the answer after this season, for sure. If Joe also isn't the answer this season, then you have him absorb the first 4-6 games. There is absolutely zero upside to throwing a rookie QB out in front of GB's or Detroit's defense aside from giving that rookie the lowest chance to succeed. We have tried the "sink or swim" approach with these marginal QB prospects to know that it doesn't work. Honestly, the biggest issue with our offense isn't even the QB position (it's Oline and running game). You gotta at least get Judkins fully up and running before you throw a rookie QB into the fire. I do agree with you that if we have any designs to see what Gabriel or Sanders look like as a starter we should figure that out before next draft. The likelihood that even Pickett, much less a ST coverage guy, would be the savior of our season is low. I agree with you, but I just don't really see the point of playing the 'what if' game on guys like Pickett. It's week 2, and we're in the middle of (by far) the hardest portion of our schedule combined with the offense finding its footing. If we still can't run the ball against Miami and Pitt, then I can see the point of torches and pitchforks. All I have to add to what you've said is that I really haven't been impressed with Garrett's leadership. I'm not saying he's not allowed to be frustrated, but if he wants to be seen as a leader, he's gotta have something better than his snippet that got blasted across social media.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

I’m not seeing an issue regarding press through the first three quarters (looking at it now). The DBs mostly played 5 yards off with a lot of zone. They would have 1 corner pressing at times, though I am not seeing any re-routing or causing any issues with the WRs initial steps. Edit: I really didn't see a lot of grabby, though there was a non-call on the a play over the middle that could've gained some good yardage (either in the first or second quarter). Tillman was the inside receiver and had a free release on the right hash. He had a step on the DB after the first 5 yards, the DB grabbed a hand full of jersey to pull him off balance and also tripped him up before he could make his break to the middle. Flacco ended up trying to dump it off to the left for an incomplete pass.

I was thinking Humphrey was tied up pretty good with Jeudy (I think?) at one point. Perhaps not pressing at the line but catching/carrying at/after 5 yards?
I was more focused on the OL during the game. And, admittedly had waning interest as the game went on.

We have to trade Myles and get at least 2 first round picks and a very player in return (to mirror the Parsons trade). We have to go through a complete rebuild. After the trade, which Haslam should make, since Berry and Stefanski will be shown the door (interim GM and coach can run things for the rest of the year) . Get a new GM after the season and start the rebuild.

Get a new GM after the season and start the rebuild. Myles is not leaving. You don't trade that kind of talent when we are already loaded up on defense. We just need to fix the offense - really, the QB and that will take pressure off the OL It would be messy possibly pointless but, we could trade for a QB on a dead team as we have $18,906,378 in cap (Kirk Cousins, Bryce Young, or Spencer Rattler). We would need to pull that trigger in the next week for it to make sense for getting into the playoffs. Our dead cap is $70,486,067 mill but, we get insurance money back from Watson and we have 16,188,280 next year. If Watson cannot play the entire 2025 season, the Browns could get $44 million which would give us 60 mil in cap space next year. I don't see them starting Gabriel or Sanders against Green Bay, Minnesota, or Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh.
Meh.

Pitt D isn't looking so hot these days... and if Judkins can help establish a run game then we could be in business.

Here is where we stand on Defense:
Starters: DE Myles Garrett signed through 2030. Arguably the best defensive player in the NFL CB Denzel Ward signed through 2027. Arguably a top 3 CB in the NFL DL Mason Graham signed as rookie through 2030 with the 5th year option. Top 5 draft pick that is living up to the hype so far. LB Carson Schwesinger signed as rookie through 2029. Plays like a veteran only 2 games in. SS Grant Delpit signed through 2026. Very productive at his position, top 15 strong safety FS Ronnie Hickman needs to get re-signed.. He has improved each season and is now a good FS. Takes too much flack, he's solid. Unless there is a stud in the draft, he needs to be a Brown in 2026 DT Maliek Collins signed through 2026. part of the reason Derrick Henry can't run against the Browns. CB Greg Newsome, we can't have top 3 talent at every position, it isn't feasible. Newsome is a "good" DB. He is a FA in 2026, maybe re-sign, maybe look for a rookie replacement CB Martin Emerson signed through 2025, another that is "good enough" as a second/third option CB. re-sign or upgrade DE Isaiah McGuire signed as rookie through 2026. Playing well in his 3rd year.
LB JOK signed through 2027, has been on IR, but he has sent some social media messages suggesting he could be back this year.
My point is, we are not in rebuild mode on defense.. They are in win now mode. Even going into 2026, there are no major holes to fill. The players that will either need re-signed or replaced are not major holes, or major talents that can't be replaced. Defense is ready for a deep playoff season.
You don't break down into rebuild when you have one side of the ball ready for competition.
Offense, it's pretty darn obvious, I'm not going to waste your time. BUT, we just added Fannin and Judkins who are already looking like strong contributors as rookies. We will need to replace basically the entire offensive line and must find compliments to Jerry Jeudy. May need to replace Njoku if he isn't re-signed.
It's obvious the offense needs all the work. But, it's just the offense.. We cannot move on from players like Myles Garrett and expect a turn around in wins.

On Defense re-sign Newsome and Emerson and find a ball hawking free safety to replace Hickman. This defense has to cause turnovers. Next free agency and draft period on Offense has to find a QB, rebuild the Oline, and find a receiver to be a true #2 and a treat. Njoku needs to be re-signed. This offense cannot let what little weapons it has walk out the door.

The difference between the Ravens and Browns . The Ravens can rush for 45 yds and beat the Browns by 24 points . The Browns ran for 160 on the ground and got blown out by 24. There's a reason why the Browns roster was ranked 32 out of 32.
