[quoteI dont understand bringing in Jake Delbum then trading Quinn for a FB when we have one of the league's best FB. I like Hillis as a player, dont get me wrong, just not seeing the logic behind it.
Because Hillis is a prototypical west coast offense style FB. Vickers really isnt,it will be interesting to see if we let Vickers go or if we carry two FBs and one less RB due to Hillis' versatility. When thinking of Hillis, think Tom Rathman in the niners glory days.

Awesome. If only we could have told MH that Quinn would be the next Joe Montana or Dan Morino (whomever that is).

RB: JH ,Jennings, and Davis FB: Vickers, PH
Any given team carries 5 RB's. This looks like a solid young core.
Add one from late in the draft, one UDFA, and maybe one more vet FA to compete.
Camp should be interesting this year.

Or...... It could be RB: Harrison, Hillis, Davis, (Jennings if he's not cut or something by then) FB: Vickers

Well, THAT didn't take long. LOL The handwriting was on the wall for BQ. Good luck in Denver Brady. Well, if nothing else, it has been an interesting off-season so far.

I hope we keep Vickers because he is a nasty S.O.B. who plays his hardest no matter what he's doing (special teams, run blocking) but he does drop a few passes.
In Holmgren's offense fullbacks have to be able to catch the ball (Leonard Weaver, Edgar Bennett, William Henderson, Mack Strong) which is why I think Vickers is available to the highest bidder.
Although it would be nice to see Vickers as the lead blocker for Hillis on 3rd and 1's.

I would really hate to lose vickers, because as you said he's such a firey guy who plays to the fullest. I'm a little fuzzy but didn't vickers catch a lot more passes and was invloved more in the offensive attack at pine bluff? I always remember watching the highlight film after we drafted him, and it had passes out in the flats galore. If I were the browns I would at least give vickers a shot in the new offesne before shipping him out. In terms of FB's, Vickers VS Hillis, it's not even a competition IMO.

Fear not... if we do get rid of Vickers, I'm sure we can find a thirty five year old full back to replace him.

Everybody seems to think at because Hillis was acquired Vickers is gonna be shown the door. Because supposedly he's "not the typical WCO FB". Which I find difficult to understand because he has put up basically identical numbers to what Mack Strong put up in Seattle.
Vickers has put up almost 7 yards a catch which is a hair more than Strong did in SEA.
I see Hillis as a RB in a FB body. He's not really a FB. Vickers is a definite FB.

I am. Peyton Hillis plays fullback. Lawrence Vickers plays fullback. Both are pretty good, only one fits Holmgren's system better (Hillis).
Manholmkert has (have?) shown they value draft picks. Lawrence Vickers would obviously garner some interest if he was made available.
I don't want to get rid of Vickers. I like Vickers. He's a good player who plays hard. Is he necessary for this team to have success? No.

What do you mean.. "out"? Jennings is a beast. He ain't big, but sure loves to hit. With Harrison, Davis, Jennings and Vickers, I don't know why we even bothered picking up another running back. (oh, yeah.... we have a thirty five year old quarterback now... RUN THE BALL) What was I thinking

Except Hillis is much more of a Running back than a fullback. And that Vickers doesn't fit the WCO is foolishness. He can easily work in the WCO. You don't have to be mobile to be a good full back, especially since it seems like we'll have a running based WCO.

please drop this angle. this trade unloaded a bum and addressed a need. just because hillis is LISTED at fullback doesn't mean he isn't a top runningback. they've said all along that they needed to get a bigger guy to compliment harrison and we got him. that's all it is. vickers is safe.

Let me make it clear. I don't want to trade Vickers.
I just think that if we can get value for him he will be traded because our front office obviously values draft picks.

Wait, wait, wait...
TWO white running backs on the same team. My head might explode.
Is it possible to compare two guys on the same team to Mike Alstott?

why would any franchise trade a near pro bowl fb for draft picks? especially if the cleveland browns are using those draft picks?

Wow, we're already throwing this regime under the bus and they haven't even had a draft yet?
That's gotta be a new record for Browns fans! Congrats!

I have at least some basis. Peyton Hillis is/has played fullback. And I'm just speculating. Something people do on message boards all the time.

Lol, true believer to the end. He's gone, no point in picking fights.
We're trying to throw the ball downfield and he checked the ball down to Trent Richardson and the Indians on the choice.

Fans got that hope from Charlie freaking Frye.
They want it so desperately, that they'll search for it anywhere -- which is what we got with Quinn.
People so badly wanted that little kid in the Browns Hutch uniform to come in and save everything that they kind of forgot to notice he was a bum.
Hope? Browns fans will always find it. They didn't need Quinn for it. They've found it in Frye, DA, Couch, Ben Gay, etc., etc.
